Welcome to the Sounders FC Premat Show presented by Providence Swedish. Today your Seattle Sounders FC face LAFC. The Provident Swedish Premat Show starts now well for the first time in twenty twenty four. Welcome back everyone.

It's time once again for Seattle Sounders FC soccer and we're back on sports Radio KJR nine to fifty am today for the club's opening match of the year on the road against now two time defending Western Conference champs LAFC. So welcome in to the Sounders FC Premat Show presented by Providence Swedish, official healthcare partner of Sounders FC. My name is Jackson Ffeltz. Back again for twenty twenty four and today I'm alongside Sounders legend Chance for I Chance. It's good to have

you in the building today for the opener. Thank you for having me, Jackson. I'm really excited to be here and excited to see how the season kicks off. Yeah, it will be interesting and exciting there is a lot to get to. There's a lot of breaking news regarding what the Sounders are going to look like today. We were just joking just moments before taking the air that Brian Schman this is a tease here what Brian Schenzer is doing today

with his starting lineup. I don't know if we have seen this exact kind of formation maybe since Siggy Schmid. And we'll get into exactly what I mean by that coming up in the pre match show. It's gonna be a little bit of an extended premat show today. We're gonna roll for about forty five minutes here, Chance and I We're gonna give you a lot of different angles here as we really open up and look ahead to this twenty twenty four season.

I think what we'll do here is, you know, for anybody who's been maybe sleeping under a rock or are just staying there hasn't really been you know, looking at what's all been happening over the last few months for the Sounders. We will kind of go over quickly the off season, just the main bullet points that you need to know before the twenty twenty four season kicks

off. We will then come back and talk about an interesting lineup for the Sounders today and a very interesting injury report that came out late yesterday and has certainly affected what Brian Spencer and his staff is able to put out on the field today. Well, of course, have our opponent outlook on LAFC coming up in our pre match show, we're gonna hear from Christian role Don.

We're gonna chat with Brad Evans because Brad Evans is down there in Los Angeles with our play by play voice Danny Jackson, so we'll get a scene setter from BMO Stadium. We'll have of course our players to watching Keys to the Match all before kickoff right around one fifty, so we're gonna go for about forty five minutes today. Kickoff coming up later on here on nine to fifty

KJR AM. But I mentioned Danny Jackson returning is your play by play voice here for the Ray Green alongside Brad Evans today they're down in Los Angeles, and you know, chances we begin here. We'll obviously get to the offseason. But I think overall, the view of this twenty twenty four campaign, coming off of a season where it ended in the Western Conference semifinals to LAFC weirdly enough, in a game where in an ending where I don't think it's

how any of us wanted or thought the season would end. Very unfortunate one. Nothing lost there, but expectations. You look at mL at soccer dot com and the way that pundits are putting Seattle very high. I think five out of the seven of their writers have Seattle at number one in the Western Conference for the regular season. Expectations externally and expectations internally, chance are very

high this year. Yeah, I mean, I think that's normal for us to think that, But I've been hearing a lot of people outside of the Seattle area. They just talk about Seattle as being one of the teams, one of the marquee teams that's always there. And I mean that just goes to show with how many times we've made it into the playoffs. We've only missed it once, got right back into it last year. So I think it's a deserved reputation. And you know, it's just credit to all the

work that everybody's done here. Brian and his staff and the ownership and everything. We take it very seriously and that's why we're there. Every year. That's absolutely right. So let's talk about why maybe a lot of these pundits and the ex paternal and internal expectations are so high. The changes in the offseason we all know departing as Nicholas Ladero, the captain for many years,

he's now with Orlando, but a bunch of players incoming. So the players who have come in include a center back by the name of Nathan who I'll tell you right now he is starting today. By the way, he is a very talented center back who is a kind of a dominant defender just a couple of years ago down in San Jose. Another defender in John Bell who can kind of play any of the spots along the back line, very versatile player. A new four named Danny Mazowski who has over his career an extremely

high goals plus assists per ninety minutes average. But the problem for Danny Mazowski is that he's been in places like Salt Lake and LFC where he sat behind Carlos Vela for a long time. And then the fourth of these kind of the veteran players the Sounders signed, Brodila Rodriguez. It should may be mentioned he is a the record goal scorer actually for Tacoma Defiance, he earned himself a first team deal, But the big name of the offseason that they added

was Pedro de la Vega. Pedro de la Vega is an Argentine attacking midfielder who can play any number of the attacking midfield spots. He can play off of the left, he can cut in on his right foot, he can play on the right side, he can play in the middle. Very versatile but talented attacking player who is the club's first young designated player and chance this guy, we've watched him. He has immense offensive skills that are going to

help this team this year. Yeah, it'll be really exciting to see him how he unfolds in the real regular season preseason. You know, that's getting yourself ready, You're getting your legs under you and you're just trying to get

going. It'll be really great to see him as he gets more used to the team, his teammates, the city and everything else, and to see what talents that he has, because obviously he's got great talents, but we haven't really seen I personally haven't seen a lot of it's you know, a couple of preseason games, a couple of highlights, but to be honest, that doesn't mean anything until he gets to the real thing. But he's still young. I don't think we should try to put you know, say,

hey, you're the next Nico Ladero. That's just not fair. He's where at number ten though. That's a lot of pressure, it is, but that's a jersey and he needs to just play his game and play within himself. And once he does that and his confidence comes, then he'll be more effective. I think you're absolutely right. We'll tell you where Pedro de la

Vega is lining up for Seattle coming up in a few minutes. Continuing our little off season recap here, some of you may know that the team spent two plus weeks training in mark Beas, Spain before returning home to cap off the preseason action last weekend against Sacramento, and they came home to a beautiful new training facility, Sounders FC Center at Long Acres A chance, I mean, in addition, I know you went out there for this kind of loop.

This into another part of the offseason, which was the fact that we had the anniversary kit release rolled out last week, celebrating the fact that we are now entering the next fifty years of this team with a new primary rave green jersey that features the Auquan dark green vertical stripes combined, which is what you're going to see. By the way today aqua shorts white sox kind of has that kind of throwback look. So chance you were able to kind of

get there. You were one of the models alongside a bunch of other Sounders legends whearing the new kit. You were able to kind of see the new facility at Long Acres. The last kind of week and a half two weeks really has been a celebration of Sounders for all time with the kit and with the new facility being unveiled. Yeah, first of all, I want to thank the photographers for making us older guys look decent. That was a lot

of fun. Actually, we got to different eras of players were together and we took pictures and things like that of the kit, and it was kind of unexpected and we did it. It was really great. The facility was amazing. I had been down there a few weeks ago to meet Taylor Graham and drop off actually some of my memorabilia that made it into the facility, which was fun to see. But it was only sheet rock and they hadn't even laid the fields, and then coming in a couple of tuesdays ago,

it was fantastic. If you do not get excited to play when you walk into that facility, then you shouldn't be there. It's world class and the Sounders should be very proud of what they've done there. It's a stunning new building. Well, Sounder fans, download the McDonald's app today and when the Sounders win, you'll win a free McChicken the following day with minimum two dollars purchase exclusively in the app. I'm telling you right now that I'm going to

do that after every single Sounder's win because MC chickens are delicious. I love them. So there you go. Founder fans, down the McDonald's app today. We'll take a break here on the first pre match show of the first match of twenty twenty four. Sounders LAFC were about forty two minutes away from kickoff from BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. We'll catch up with Brad Evans later

on here he's calling the match with Danny Jackson. But we'll come back and we'll tell you the injury situation for Seattle and the unique starting lineup from head coach Brian Spencer that will come up next on the Providence Swedish Premat show on Sports Radio at nine to fifty KJARM. We're counting you down to kickoff for the next about forty minutes, and then it'll be Danny Jackson and Brad Evans. We're gonna also visit with here coming up in a little bit. Get the scene setter from BMO Stadium down in Los Angeles

as the Sounders take on LAFC in the twenty twenty four season opener. Well, we're going we want to give you the Delta starting eleven for the Seattle Sounders in just a moment. But before we do, I think this is important to know because a chance would read off the starting lineup and you'd all be kind of freaking out, like why am I not hearing certain names?

So before we get to the Delta starting eleven, let's quickly dive into the Providence Swedish team health report and I'll take a deep breath before I start this one. Is it is unfortunate? Well, first we'll start off with the players who are out. Bradilio Rodriguezo we mentioned last segment is a Tacoma Defiance player who endered himself a first team contract. He's out with a right ham string strain. Reed Baker Widing is out with a left ham string strain.

Stephan Frye, your goalkeeper. He is out with a right ham string strain. Juel Paulo your maybe most important midfielder on this team, perhaps so one of the MVP candidates from a couple of years ago. He is out with a left hip injury going into today. Albert Russnak was questionable with a right ankle injury. He is not going to be appairing today. He is out. Jemar Gomez Androde not injury related, but he was questionable on the report. He is not available today. But that's six pieces of bad news.

The one piece of good news is going in to today. Pedro de la Vega we talked about the previous segment, was questionable, also not injury related. He will be playing for the Sounders, or at least we think because he is on the bench and available for Brian Schmenzer, and Brian said yesterday in an interview on KJR with our Ian Furness that de la Vega arrived in Los Angeles last night after getting his visa stamped in Vancouver in the afternoon.

So it has been a busy last couple days of travel for Pedro de la Vega. But I'll tell you right now he is on the bench for Seattle. In terms of the other injuries Fry, JP, Rusnak, we don't know the severity of those, but obviously chance it completely changes the way that this team plays and is forcing a formation change. So today's team Health Report

presented by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC. And with that chance, let's get to this unique delta starting eleven for the Sounders today. Well, first of all, you have to say that you don't want to

see anybody injured. But the one gift that Brian has is putting together quality teams in a quality lineup with whoever he has available, and that's been proven over the years, and so it's a little bit different in a goal in place of Stephen Fry is going to be Andrew Thomas out on the right side.

We've got Alex Rohodon in the center of the defense, Nathan alongside Jackson Reagan, and then on the left is Knew who starting across the midfield, which looks like and we'll talk about this in a minute, but you know, a typical four four two. But in my mind, the lineup is basically how you line up during the kickoff. How you end up playing could be completely different, especially depending on what the other team is doing and how

things are reacting. Christian Down is going to be on the right hand side, Josh Atensio and Obed Vargas are going to be holding down the middle, and then Leo Choos out on the left and running up front ral Ruy Diaz and Jordan Morris. So it's good to see Raoul out there. I'm hoping he's he's feeling pretty good. And we've got Josh and Obed, young guys in the middle, but quality players all the same, And that's kind of

where I want to start here with our lineup breakdown. I'll quickly mention your substitutes include Jacob Castro also a goalkeeper, Javey or Ariaga, Jonathan Bell, who's a defender, Cody Baker who's kind of a full back you can play on either side, Danny Lave who can play a couple spots in the midfield, Dylan Tevis who can play a bunch of slots around the attacking midfield, Pedro de Leveg who can play any spot in the attacking midfield, Paul Rothrock

who's a forward and can play on the wing, and then any also Danny Mazowski who plays forward as well. So those are the subs. But chance, you know, that is what looks to be lining up as a flat four four two, and then it will morph as we know, Al Schroldn can get up on the right side, Chris Can could tuck in. You know. But this is a very unique situation to see a four to four to two to start the season. But it's obviously directly because of these injuries.

So let's start with the last two guys you mentioned, Josh Atencio Obed varias they are. As we see the two central attacking midfielders, I would assume that it's sort of like a one stage one goes when they're moving around, but it really will be free flowing and it will require on point communication between all these guys in unique spots. Yeah, and I mean that's the same case all over the field. Really, it's one player is going,

one player staying. There's a lot of shifting and covering for each other, even up top. I think I played a lot in a four to four to two system. And the one thing that I do like about having Jordan and roll up together is that there isn't just one player that they can really you know, mark out of the game or anything. So if those two guys are running off of each other, they're both smart, they're both great goal scorers. They both have a bit of pace. Especially if Jordan's feeling

good, he can run by guys. As we know, I think that they could be very dangerous. And then Christian, you know, I love Christian. Christian's always going to be coming up that right side and getting into the attack as well. So if we can get those three guys going and Leo flying down the left, you know what, look out La. I think it's gonna be good. But for La, they're gonna be at home their home opener. They're gonna be fired up. It looks like a lot

of times with the four four two. We're gonna absorb some pressure at the beginning. Yeah right, I think that's exactly right. Yeah. And if we can do that and then just kind of hold them off the scoreboard and just kind of build out of there, that's what we're gonna do. I think that's exactly right. You just it's sort of one of those games. We've seen so many midweek games like this over the course of the years,

where you have to change a formation a little bit. I always kind of harken back to the game was I want to say, like twenty eighteen or so in Toronto, where we switched to a three five two and we beat Toronto two to one because we withstand the pressure early and then we find a couple of breakaway moments, and I think it was like Magnus wolf Chrome and Will Bruin had a big game in that one. Will Brewin, by the

way, congrats on his retirement. But it's one of these games where you can withstand pressure, then you have guys like Chew Morris, Christian roll Don who can stretch the field get lafc if they over commit, and then roll running off of Jordan. As you mentioned, there are there is a recipe here for Seattle to come away with a really good result in LA, but it will require absorbing a lot of pressure early on in this match in LA. For lafc's opener as well. Well, we're just about what about thirty

plus minutes away from kickoff here at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. Tonight's count Down a kickoff, Today's count out of Kickoff, presented by Emerald Queen Casino, the entertainment capital of the Northwest. We'll take a break, we'll come back here a little bit from Sounders midfielder Christian role Don looking ahead to the opener here in La. Jackson felt some chance fry here counting you down to kickoff on the Ermeral and Queen Casino. Count Down to kickoff before we get there, before we head down and start to really look at this LAFC team that the Seattle Sounders are

facing today. Let's go back out to Long Acres where earlier this week had the chance to catch up with Christian roll Don as we kind of looked ahead to the opener here against LAFC and how he's feeling going into the season playing in front of goal, right, that's something that we needed to work on this year. You know, we didn't score too many goals last year. Defensively, we were pretty sound, but offensively we needed to be better.

And so yeah, being in front of goal our obviously our fitness and then team chemistry. Right, we have a lot of time in preseason to kind of connect with our teammates and it was a great way for us to do. So we're here at this new facility Long Acres and you know, the walkthrough and everything. We saw, the really cool new toys that you guys have. We talked about the toys the press conference first few days. Now in this building, what have you been most impressed by? What have you

kind of taken it back to? Well, we have that now. Well, the food has been fantastic obviously the space that we have now. But what I love to see is how guys show up, right, they show up a little bit earlier, they leave a little bit later. And that's, you know, the goal of this facility. It's to keep guys in here, recovering and doing whatever it takes to be you know, professional. All right. So there's the barber shop right over here, right right inside

the player's lounge. So you're the barber, as I understand it, of the team. So have you given a haircut yet? I haven't. No, who's the first player, Then it might have to be my little brother. And I have to emphasize little because he's definitely my little brother, even though he's taller at me, but definitely probably him. His haircut's pretty easy, and so I enjoy giving him a haircut. Pedro's here, how do

you think of that? I can't touch that. It's too perfect. Well, from a player aspect, you know, Pedro dale Ovega joined the team. You're what have you seen from his game on the field so far? Yeah, he's dynamic, he's different, right, he's unpredictable. There's times where he's super direct, and there's times where he can dribble and get a shot off, and then there's times where he will keep the ball under pressure,

and so yeah, he's unpredictable, something that we've we've needed. And then on the right side, yeah, he's he's a right or sorry, on the left side, he's a right footed player, which we haven't had. So it just gives us a different look and so we'll see how we utilize him. But I'm excited for him. I know he's excited and and you know, the organization hopefully can get the best out of him. It's great stuff there from Christian roll don out at long Acres and you know chance

we know Pedro dale Ovega is starting on the bench today. But for Christian, you know, I think to go back to our conversation last night about where he's lining up in a what appears to be at least from the start

of this game of flat four four two on that right winger spot. As his brother Alex comes up on that right side, Christian will have the ability to kind of tuck in, you'd think, and looking at Josh Tencio and obed Varius in the middle, Christian has the chance to really kind of run things in the position where he ran things at the University of Washington a decade

ago in that number ten spot. Not exactly we know things will change, but Christian has the opportunity to really take him in and pull some strings in the offensive end. Yeah, and Christian is pretty free flowing when it comes to going forward. You'll see him whether he's playing centrally or out to the right. You'll see him flying into you know, near post crosses on the left hand side and things like that and getting in on you know, touches

around the box. So I doubt you will just see Christian way out on the right just hanging out. He always wants to come in and get involved. And if he can do that, and if he can combine with with Jordan and Raoul, we could see some good stuff from all three of those guys. I hope you're right, and I hope we do see some good stuff. It will be a tough game against LAFC, the two time defending Western Conference champs. We'll take you a break. We'll come back and talk

about the hosts today of LAFC. That's coming up next on the Providence Swedes premat show Sports Radio nine fifty KJRM. Why choose a sleep number smart bet because no two people sleep the same. Here we'll visit with Brad Evans coming up in just a few minutes from BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. Get the scene center for down there in LA. But it's time for our

sharp vision opponent, Alec and Chance. This is an LAFC team that has undergone a ton of changes here in the last offseason. Let's just quickly kind of set the scene with La before we talk about him. Because they are back to back Western Conference champs. They wanted again last year. They lost MLS Cup to Columbus, but they got past Seattle in the playoffs one nothing win in Seattle back in November, and then they got two MLS Cup.

Now yes, a large number of players have left LAFC. They've added a bunch of stars. But gone is a former MLS Cup hero John McCarthy. Gone is Maxim Croppo, their regular goalkeeper last year. He's now in Portland. It should be mentioned midfielder Jose Ce Fuentees, full back Diego Pilasios, midfielder Kellen Acosta, Christian Torres, Giorgio Kieline he retired, and then Carlos

Velo. We were talking to him before the show. He is without a team right now, so it's a question if he maybe returns to l AFC at some point, but he is not on l a f c's roster right now. But then going in and boy, Chance, I mean the list of players that and the great players that LAFC has brought in it is long. Then it starts with Hugo Lauris, who I'm a Tottenham Hotspur fan and he's been our keeper over in the EPL for you know, the last decade.

He now joins LAFC, and yes he's thirty seven years old. But Chance, this is one of the elite goalkeepers on the globe. Oh yeah, totally, I you know, I love Hugo Lourisse. I think he's a great player. I was watching the their introductory highlight film that every club puts together for incoming players, and I kind of forgot about some of the iconic saves. I mean, there are some saves that he makes that are ridiculous. He's very, very good and thirty seven years old, he's still

got a lot left in the tank. He'll be fine and he's a great addition for LAFC. Unfortunately for us. Yeah, it really is unfo you. I've loved Lurise and I mean you think back to you know, the Champions League run of was that about six years ago now and how instrumental he was along the stretch there. But now that he's on LAFC, I feel nothing. So thank you Lurise. But I mean, listen, LAFC has added a lot more than just him. They've also added a left back Omar

compos from Lega MX for four million dollars. They spent multiple millions for right winger Christian Olavera from La Liga, another reported three point five million dollars on this wonder kind Venezuelan winger David Martinez from Otagas s see. Then they spend another three million dollars, reportedly on a twenty seven year old Spanish ford Mario

Gonzalez. And if all of that wasn't enough, they also brought back talented young midfielder still only twenty six years old, Edward Ottuesta, who we remember scored in the twenty nineteen Western Conference Final where Seattle beat La in La three to one, but Ottawasta had that amazing free kick from distance. I mean, this is an LAFC team that meanwhile still has the established core of Heesus Mario, Timothy Tilman, Eddie Segura, Ryan Hollings had Aaron Long, Diego

Risalez. They still have Mamatus Boguche who scored in the game down in LA last year in like the forty fifth second, and then of course Dennis Bowanga, who might be the league's best player. I mean, that is laf his team. In addition to what they've added, they already have this established core. Chance. This is a ridiculous roster who no doubt will be challenging for the top of the West for a third straight year. Yeah no,

I was waiting for you to say, blong. I wanted to keep it to the end because it just hurts me to say, because he had that goal in the playoffs, and and he's such a dominant force, and it's just I hate remembering that he's going to be out there. He's a quality player. He had an exceptional season, I think thirty eight overall goals last year. They are a good team. Looking at the pundits, you know what their predictions are. Lowest is about fourth in the in the conference.

You know what a team like LAFC. They haven't been around as long, but they are establishing themselves, much like the Sounders, to be a quality team year in and year out there. They certainly haven't had any years where they've just fallen on their face or anything, and don't I don't think that's going to happen. They've got a lot of good players. Only eleven can play at a time, though, so that's something. And Carlos Vea, we don't know whether he's going to come back, but that will be I

think an interesting addition to them. He's a little bit on the older side, but based on what I've read about their players, they love him and the fans love him. He's kind of like their talisman down there, and

you know, if he could come in and do something for him. I think that they would like that, but it has to make sense and it doesn't can't take away from everybody else, especially the good players that they've brought in, and exactly because they have added a bunch of people like Mario Gonzalez is twenty seven year old Spanish forward, like you know, that is essentially the veil of replacement. And then today I should have mentioned he isn't starting,

but it is the names that we just mentioned who are starting. Hugo Laris is in goal. It's hauling's head and compost as their fullbacks, Mario and Long the center backs. They play in this four three three. It's an attacking style of soccer under Steve Trulo, but they can play very balanced, a lot less of that high press than we saw maybe five years ago.

They are way more balanced. All you have to do is kind of look towards the twenty twenty three playoffs to see that it is Timothy Tillman, ili A Sanchez, who's a great midfielder and editor Atwesta in the holding midfield that will get again very high and then they're attacking threesome of Olivera Bogush and

Bowoga on the left side. That is going to be a very, very tough team for Seattle to face today with so many injuries to this Seattle Sounders squad in terms of what it's like down there in LA for the season opener, Let's head down to Los Angeles in a couple of minutes. We're going to be joined by our color analysts today, Brad Evans, who's calling the

game alongside Danny Jackson. Brad will join us from BMO Stadium. Coming up next on the Providence, Swedish premat show Sports Radio nine fifty KJR AM, it's the Marketers Report Today. Welcome back to the Providence, Swedish Premium show. Jackson Feltzen, Chance Fry back in Seattle. But let's head down to BM Stadium in Los Angeles. Sounders at LAFC for the season opener, kicking off in just about twelve minutes.

We head down with the color analyst Brad Evans. Right now, Brad, how are things down there in LA It's terrible seventy two degrees, Sonny, perfect pitch. No, it's perfect conditions down here. The only issue is that this field was laid down maybe a week ago, and we walked it before the game and we said, yeah, it looks really, really nice. But at the end of the day, you watch them hit the ball and they're sand popping up. I think that might be a little bit

of an issue today as guys get used to it. But other than that, no excuse. I mean this place is going to be sold out. The stars are here, the fans are ready to rock. The whole place is black and gold. And then we got our sprinkle of green up in the corner and a few fans sprinkled throughout the stadium as well. So it's

a fantastic setting. We talk about the lineup a little bit. Yes there's changes, but at the end of the day, when you play on a nice grass pitch and it's seventy degrees, you know, it gives guys a little bit of a boost and to do it for their first time, like Andrew Thomas getting his first start tonight in La at LAFC on a big, big occasion, first game of the year for the Sounders. I mean,

these guys will be pumped up today no matter what the lineup is. Yeah, we were talking about the lineup, Brad, this chance and just what do you think they're going to do. I mean it looks like they're just going to start the lineup, and like I said, it's how you kick off the game in a four to four two. But what do you think the wrinkles are going to be? Yeah, so we got to talk to

Schmidtz. I got to talk to Andy Rose, and I've been here for two days at practice, and obviously with Albert stepping out it changed a lot of things. And to see him go down, I mean yes, right in front of me, I could see everything happen. Just a little pop of the ankle, nothing crazy, But you lose him, and you just lose a little bit of what the team has been working on for the last

you know, six to eight weeks. And that's at four two three one, So I think still it's going to be a four to four to two. Yes, defensively, but at the end of the day, Rowl's not going to be playing as a striker. I mean yes, he will go forward and be and have that freedom to kind of find those spots, and

at the end of the day he is an attacker. But he has to be well aware of Ilia Sanchez because with LAFC playing three in the midfield, if you're gonna play four four two against them and just think that you're playing with two strikers, you're gonna get carved to pieces. So let the center backs have the ball, let Jordan deal with one and isolate the other, and let Raoul sit on Ilia and take him out of the game and let

our two six's deal with their attacking midfielders. And I think that we'll still be okay. And but you still have Buwanga, right, and that's the biggest question mark. But I think the reason for not bringing Christian inside was because Alex and Christian just have this great partnership, and Alex coming off a little bit of an injury, he's gonna need cover. So I think Christian today, Yes, offensively it's gonna be a four four two four two three

one however you want to see it. But defensively, it's really providing that cover when it goes against you know, one of the most dangerous players in Major League Soccer, exactly, Brad. And to kind of continue off of that conversation, I mean, they're looking at what LAFC can do. They can play so balance, so much more than we saw, you know, four or five years ago with that high press. And it's not just Buwanga, it's Bagosh who scored the opener in like the forty fifth second last year.

It's everybody that they've added out to Wester returning. This is a dangerous LAFC team and you a lot more worry about than just what might be MLS's best player in Bowonga. Yeah, well, it's an LAFC team that every year they seem to make changes and we all ask like, why are they selling all these players? What are they gonna do? But then every year

they make the playoffs and they make big championship games. Right, So it's something that this team has been able to do is plug in guys wherever they've needed. As guys exit, they bring in someone else. And we were just talking about it, kind of looking at their bench. There's some names on there that we don't recognize, but I'll bet you that they're high quality players. And that's the same for the Sounders. And at the end of the day, it's about the Sounders today and what they do on the pitch

and really being tight defensively. And you said it last year. We came in here and it was the first forty five seconds that the Sounders give up a goal and then you're kind of chasing after that, and we actually played okay in that game, and I think that could have gotten out of here with a tie. And then you go back to the ending of last last year thinking, yeah, we're probably the better squad, but LAFC had the

better game plan on the day that they executed. So the Sounders a little bit hard done and games against LAFC not too many blowouts either way, a bit more competitive than some other matchups that we've had, even with our own rivals with Portland, and so this has become two high quality teams that have been consistently good since lafc's arrival in this league, and hopefully we see another great one today. Brad have a great call there alongside Danny. We'll hear

you in a few Thanks, guys. That's Brad Evans down there at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. We'll get one more segment before him and Danny have the call for Sounders LAFC. We'll return on the providence. We just prematucha,

So starting at the back. That's a great call. By the way, his first game clean sheet. We got to keep a clean sheet. Then when we win the ball, keep it. We can't just keep giving it back in our end of the field. That will just we will get killed if we do that. So we

have to keep the ball and then take our chances. I don't think we're going to have a ton of chances, so we have to be clinical in front of the goal when we get them. Welcome to Sounders Fcsucker Today, your Seattle Sounders FC face LAFC Sounders FC Soccer is brought to you by Provident Swedish, official healthcare partner of Seattle Sounders FC. Now time for Sounders FC sucker. Good afternoon and welcome to a warm, sunny and very loud Bemos Stadium in La for this the opening game of the twenty twenty four MLS season between Your Sounders and LAFC. Well, we're back where it left off just three months ago when the Sounders lost to LAFC

in the Western Conference semifinals, and revenge is in the air. Both teams of lost marquee players in the off season. For LAFC it was a Costa, Keiolini and Veya. For the Sounders it was Ladero, Row and Montero. But in comes new talent with World Cup winning goalkeeper Hugoleries for the men in Black and the exciting talent of Pedro de la Vega for those in Green.

Well, new faces now grace the field for Brian Schmidtz's men. The biggest change in Seattle happened off the field with the opening of the magnificent new training facility at Long Acres. And as we celebrate something shiny and new, we also embark on our year long fiftieth anniversary celebration, marking the beginning of a new era for Your Sounders. But for today, it's all about starting the season strong. As we start our march to MLS Cup. My name's

Danny Jackson. Alongside former Sounders captain Brad Evans for the core tonight and bred as the teams get set to go, you mentioned it just a couple of minutes ago. How loud it isn't here opening game? You've played in a bunch of these opening games in the MLS season. What's the Sounders have to do today to really get off on the right foot? Enjoy the occasion? Right? You don't get these very often to be a part of a team that opens up a season at a place like this at LFC, it'll be

a sold out crowd. Fans are still coming into this stadium. Either way. It's loud. We got the fiftieth anniversary kid on the youngsters in the middle of the park. You know, a couple changes to this lineup, but at the end of the day, it's about getting the job done and keeping it tight defensively, players a group and just enjoy the day well. Has been mentioned around the league referees currently holding out. We have a couple of new referees on the field making their MLS debuts, as are some of

the Sounders players. Wesley Costa with a whistle in his mouth and off we go, setting off the twenty twenty four MLS season with LAFC decked out in their primary new kit of all black, black shirts, black shorts, black socks. They're attacking the three two five two end to our left and the sounders that Brad mentioned in our new anniversary kit. Celebrating old and celebrating new. They're attacking the goal to our right, green shirts with blue pinstripe,

light blue shorts and white socks. The ball goes down the line, flicked on by Christian rolled On. Ball bounces a little dead on This new turf was laid just a few days ago, so we'll keep an eye on that as a new signing. On the left camp both picks it up plays as the Bogosh scored in the first minute of this game. Joyce to thread the needle and knew who picks it up playing on that left, so I just

carries it forward across the field. Christian Roldan in support, gets in his feet right in front of the LFC bench to Alex rolled On, new hacker for Alex Or Blonde as he shifts the ball from right to the far side

of the left. Jackson Reagan, striding forward, plays the ball left to Leo Chu to Ruy Diaz down to Leo Choo down the left hand side, good ball into the box ben She chests it away by Camposts, followed in by rolled On and Campos clears it along the ground thanks Bogush middle of the field, Krick Little turn plays it out to Bowonga MLS Golden Boot winner in twenty twenty three lit combination with Bogos or played by the new signing for the

Sounders Nathan and with that let's get you the Delta. Starting eleven for your Sounders has mentioned a few changes. Andrew Thomas in goal making his MLS debut and his debut for the first team in goal back forth rolled On Nathan making his debut today for the Sounders, Jackson, Reagan and knew Who the midfield of Vargas and Atensia in the middle, Christian Ball down on the right, Leo Chew on the left the Railery dz is gonna sit alongside Jordan Morris up

front for LAFC. A couple of new faces for them also Hugo Lourise, World Cup winning goal keeper in goal back for Hollingshead, Mario Long and new signing Camposts midfield. Three of that to West. The back from Palmyras this season, alongside Sanchez and Tilloman. Bull goes in. Jordan Morris has a Champs inside the box, early chance, good save by Lurie. It was an early chance for Jordan Morris, hit the target, but good save. As the pockets picked up new Here comes LFC striding forward, top of the

box, low strike, good comfortable save by Andrew Thomas and Brad. That's exactly what our goalkeeper needs. I want to start to this game. Well, the Sounders made it past forty five seconds unlike last year, and the Sounders are looking good so far. But this game has everything in the first three minutes, back and forth and back and forth. Good skill from Alex Roldan and Jordan Morris with a great chance on gold. You just got to

take that one. Oftentimes we've seen Jordan maybe lay that one off or take an extra touch, but just get your first shot on frame. Defensively, the Sounder is so far solid, but I think the field is gonna play into this game a little bit. We talked about it in warmups. We walked out here and it was nice, but you're seeing the ball roll just a little bit differently, a little bit slow. It's gonna take the sounders

just a minute or two to build into this game. Rudez wriggles Street left hand side of the box, cuts it back, question roll down strike, good block by atu Esta top of the box. Alex rold On blocked again for Sir Nathan with pressure from Boowonga, tries to get out of trouble, mocks it over the near sideline here right in front of us as we sit high up in the stands amongst the black and gold. This camp post has

it. So let's just finish off that starting eleven for lafc Tilman alongside Sanchez and at westro in the midfield and then Olive Bera bo Goosh and then Golden Boot winner Boo Wonga up front. Potential picks it up, challenged by at

TuS. That goes into the defeat of Marris, picked up by Rui Diaz, quick pump shot, comfortable save by Laris in the end, so get sutted here remains nil No, but Brad, that's what we talked about with Ruiy Diaz, just finding his little puckets of space and taking pump shots some distance right Well, We've never seen Ruydiez in this in this role, and we talked to Schmidz and the expectation. Look, he's already dropped back,

get behind the ball as best that you can. It's almost a four or five to one defensively as a sounder sit into their on half, LAFC still finding space on the other side. So I think it's gonna take a little bit of time for the sounders to adjust, But I think ruy Diez's job it just sit on Iliad. We talked about it. Match up three for three in the midfield, then it really is a four or five one.

Jordan handle the two center backs make it predictable for the guys in the back because Bogush is His ability to find space in front of the two center backs is second to none. I mean, it's not Carlos Vela, but that addition of Bogush is gonna be what separates this LAFC team. To get forward. Nick of LAFC again striding forward towards the end line, right hand side

of the box well covered by here. If Jackson Reagan came across ricochet off the ankles of the LAFC player is gonna be a goalkick for Andrew Thomas and the Sounder's goal, and you talked about it early. Andrew Thomas makes a good save from distance, and that's what he talked about when we came off the training pitch. He told me, I just need to get my hands on one. I just need to get it one early on in this game. And he did that, right. Okay, get everyone forward now the

Sounders take one long and build himself right. This is first professional game and the pressure that you must feel. But to get that first one underneath your belt, sit in, relax, get everyone forward. That's a big confidence booster for him. Well. Talk to Tom Doutro about Andrew Thomas as well. He said he had a great experience in New Mexico United in twenty twenty

three on loan, really turned that season around. Played wonderfully as he knocks the ball along and Brian Schmittzer. In that conversation this morning, Brad said that I'm not gonna mess around playing in the back of the first couple. It's gonna be long for Andrew Thomas. As the ball goes down the line to Jordan Morris, referee puts the whistle in his mouth. Gonna be a

free kick for the sound is thirty yards from Hugo's goal. Early chance for the Sounders here in the attacking third, as you mentioned, seeing Andrew Thomas play that goal kick right in front of the three two five two, the raucous end for LAFC standing room only, certainly a wild introduction for Andrew Thomas. It's for his MLS career, but as Tom Deutcher and the coaches have mentioned, well deserved based on the body of work he's put in since his

time with the Sounders. It's going to be Alex trolled on with his bleach blonde hair at LFC, holding a line at the pounty spot and it comes

to the far post Tilman unnecessarily clips it over the end line. No pressure, needless corner kick for the Sounders. So we talked to Andy Rose last night as well and they had some plays drawn up on set pieces where it was actually going to be short to Alex then Alex swings it in, but that was with Rusnak in the lineup, and not only with Rusnak out as a number ten as the changings, but also does it on set pieces.

So the sound being a little bit more direct here and keeping it much more simple on these set pieces well, change of corner kick taka usually Ladero. This time it's gonna be Alex troll don Now it's gonna played in with the right foot in. Swinger goes in to the farst side, easily collected by Hugo Le Louise tries to distribute quickly. It does nicely, and it's LAFC in transition Boolonga chasing through the middle, tries to find Boowonger. Eventually he

does collect it on his left foot towards the end line. Try by Atensio. Good quick break by LAFC. It was a iver on the right. Bull goes in, eventually collected by the Sounds, ricochets up. LAFC collected again with compost left hand side, challenged by Christian rolled on and that's the experience of Hugoleries easily collected and is able to distribute quickly his left foot.

What a break from LAFC there. That is the first thing that's on everyone's mind here is from that front three of LAFC and how the Sounders get caught so far pushed up and allowing not themselves to be the last man, but one of Lafc's front front three to be in such an advantageous position, and Utensio's turned it on full there to get in a good defensive position. Otherwise

that would have been trouble. I think it's the start of Ruidaz playing in that pocket that I think would be a surprise for Sounders fans that are listening and questioning at the west the top of the box just drags his shot Wide's gonna be a goal. Kip for Sounders remains nil nil. Can he play in that role? And I think that you're seeing it. He looks motivated yesterday at training looked motivated as well, and so I think he can.

He's shifty enough because Schmetz said he's not gonna get him behind anymore. Really, so this actually allows him some freedom to play in that pocket, be creative because you know he's a good passer of the ball because he can put the ball in the back of the net from any angle. So him playing in that role build into it. But now is it build out? It's almost like a four to two four. Well, with Jordan Morris able to stretch that back line, maybe he does provide the space for Ruy Diaz.

The ball goes down the line, just as we talked about Chase and mcgeene. Aaron Long gets his body between Borrison, ball clipped up, poorly distributed to it, but isn't able to be collected by a ten Shiel goes back

to Long and just knocks it out of bound. Sounders throw r on this near side the right, about five yards from the corner flag atens year, pressing and pushing, certainly talking to Josh just last week about his rise last year towards the back end of the season, getting the n from Brian Schmitzer, certainly feels like he's advanced his game, looks more comfortable and bounced on

the ball. Yea. I mean he finds himself in a national team camp, right, that's the biggest honor of all both him and Jackson, and that's a credit to last year's second place finish. And what they've done is young players twenty five and twenty one. Long throw by rolled down, flicked in by Jackson, Reagan, hooked clear by atcha Western for LAFC, brought down by Christian roll Dan clip back into the box, just skips through Turkey

guleries. Nothing there for the Sounders. It's been a quick start bread ten minutes in chances on both sides. Certainly marquee matchup of the opening weekend for MLS. Afternoon game kicks off this Western Conference games schedule Today. Game already happened down in Columbus. Columbus winning and beating Atlanta. One goal to nil does that to us? He tries to flick it around the corner, he does collect it off bou wonga or shoulder charge. Nothing given by the referees.

Again, we mentioned referees across MLS today. Fill ins for the referees are currently holding out. Christian Waldon mentioned a couple of words about that just this week, supporting their desire to be heard change some things up. The referees have a very difficult job. It's certainly not easy for these referee stepping into games this weekend. As Brian Schmitzer says, we control the controllables, nothing we can do about that. We focus on ourselves. Well, credit

to the Center today. I mean we are, you know, eleven minutes into this game, and I don't think that you could tell the difference right, And I think the big thing is is let it play. And oftentimes the game will show itself and what needs to be called right, Just make the right obvious calls to start and just like an Andrew Thomas for goal for goalkeeper with the Sounders like build into the game. I know there's nerves on the referee side as well. Keep it simple, do your job and try

not to be seen. Well, so far, so good for the Sounders. Not want to hear in that time in MLS against l EFC. Other than that twenty nineteen three to one win in the playoffs, the Sounders will have confidence. Six three wins, three ties in the last six away games to finish the regular season. The ball comes into Bog who strives to click it around. Misplayed by Alex Roldan, slices off his left foot, eventually

finds the hands for a very grateful Andrew Thomas and the Sounder's goal. You know what happened there is you have Ilia Sanchez with no pressure on the ball in the middle of the part. Tillman comes to show short and Chew gets pulled inside away from hauling said and all it is a little clip ball from from Ilia over to Halling. Saad isolates that means Raoul has to now track

back and that's who you want tracking back to play defense. So the Sounder's gotta be careful if we're gonna play a four or five to one, keep layout two on the outside. O Ben and Detentionio just have to sit inside. Yes, it's a lot of work to go side to side, but as soon as you pull someone from outside, the isolation is what LAFC wants and they find themselves getting it behind there and inches from Bogus getting a real

attempt on goal. Nathan with the bullet its feet. His debut for the Sounders hasn't played about eighteen months after picking up an ACL injury and MLS got it last early part of the preseason for San Jose missed the whole of the season in twenty twenty three, but he's found confidence in the coaching staff and its performances. Plays alongside Jackson Reagan. With Yemar currently staying at home just

getting himself back. It's a full fitness ready to go for the season, and that's been mentioned many times last year and he and through the conversations this preseason, the Sounders back line amongst the very best in MLS alongside Nashville. Last year, the thirty two goals against there was a league leading goals against average. As the ball goes in into ruy Dz plays the bull to the left, The tackle by Hollings's head goes low, Refree gives a free kick

body and player Leo Chruse stays in the deck. But it's gonna be a chance for the Sounders left corner of the Bucks. Bret Evans, It's questionable for me. It looked like a decent fifty fifty challenge. We fce a replay, but the ball goes from side to side for the Sounders, which I really like. Ovid switches it to the right, We get it back,

we switch it all the way back over to the other side. Yes, we don't win the header, but we maintain possession in the attack and half and then it's a fantastic turn from Christian roll Don in the midfield to pick out ruy Diaz, who's able to find those soft spots. Actually as a withdrawn and the Sounders look good, not only in the New Kids, but looking good in this first fifteen minutes, good as well being a good

positive start for the men in green and blue pinstripes. The Anniversary Kid celebrates in all Corners based on the launch and the look and feel. It was even on the GQ's top list of things to buy last week. Hey, it's on GQ's list, as we have to go buy it. It's gonna

be Rudds left corner of the box. It's gonna play it in, Whip it in, takes a deflection, finds the hands of Louise good strike hits the target remains nil nil Here at BMO Stadium in La one nine, f am, wherever you're listening to us on the radio, on the app, in the car at home, thanks for joining us. Sun drenched field here, packed house, loud, boisterous. The Sounders fans sit far to our right. Good collection of green shirts not just in the top right corner of

the stadium, but dotted around as well amongst these black shirts. As the Sounders have it far side the left, Fargas plays about to Jackson Reagan inside his own half, no real pressure from LAFC, but finds the feet of Leo cho Is able to turn with it on the left hand side just wriggles free of Sanchez plays the ball top of the box, pushing the bat by at to west. That could have been a found nothing given by the referee.

Here come LAFC in transition. Bwanga fast sight the right, plays the ball alove the top of the bucks played eventually strike by Tillman and again well collected by Andrew Thomas, but again Bret Evans. It's that break of speed by LAFC. It's that break. And right after that free kick, Raoul finds himself on the left side. He drops all the way back in defensive shape to make sure that everyone's in a good spot. And that's for your

team to see that. That's a confidence booster for the whole group. That says, okay, Raoul's here to play today and give everything he has for the team. Now, on the other side of things, as soon as Knew who vacates that space and goes, LAFC commits what looked like maybe a foul and Christian rolled on. But then all they do is attack first ball. They look long and they cheat so easily with everyone. Sound has gotta be careful that when Knew who vacates, Jackson slides, Nathan slides, everyone

gets into a good back three. And that's a responsibility that JP kind of provides usually. And now it's up to o Bed and Utensio to really provide that cover sitting as six is because that's all they're gonna look for today. LAFC is this counter attack right here. Lose a ball and go fast. She'd give away by Vargas to Bowonga picks it up. Tillman is player that came in last year. My expectations of him this year is LAFC see seventeen

players leave their squad from last year. More than fifty percent of those minutes played in twenty twenty three is gone. The Sounders have it with Ruy Diaz middle of the park taking off his heels. By Sanchez finds the ball in behind. It's Boolonga around Andrew Thomas, but well defended by Nathan on the

goal line. It was a quick break by LAFC. It was Boowonga around Andrew Thomas, but it was Nathan who was able to get back and clear it off the line for the Sounders, and it's a it's a turnover, quick turnover and all they do is a quick slip ball and Hamas comes off his line. That's what saves that. If Bolong is allowed to get another

touch, that's a surefire shot on frame. At least and most likely a goal, but he gets a little bit of pressure on him so that Bowonga has to take a touch and Andrew does a good job of bringing in those hands and making sure they did doesn't commit the foul. And then it's the effort from Nathan who looks like he may have cramped in his hamstring. Not sure, but that's probably the fastest Nathan's ran in quite some time. But he does provide that cover. It clears it off the line, sacrifices that

body, and it's those little giveaways. Even if you give it away at the top of the eighteen, they're gonna go. And especially in the middle of the park, it's gotta be so good with the ball. You have three and midfield experienced players for LAFC and and of course that speed and power that they have on that forward line in Bowonga, Bogush then Olivera who's lightning

quick as well on that right hand side. But today's match is brought to you by Western Washington Toyota Dealers. Toyota Let's go places, so get here in the eighteenth minute here at be Mos Stadium in La remains nil nil As Hugilerees has it bold at his feet, comfortable in possession, but gives it away, clips it down the Sounders left Lou who lets it bounce a couple

of times, rolls out for a Sounders throw. As we mentioned, Sounders here in La I have not had a huge amount of success, no wins here, but certainly Brian Schmetz with the type of preseason the Sounders had two and a half weeks in Marbea getting the team together, some really good additions in Mussovski Della Vega, as we mentioned, Jonathan Bell managed to plug some

holes that have left the club. As we mentioned in Kellen Rowe announcing his retirement, Montero have been such an amazing servant for the Sounders, not yet announced his plans moving forward, and of course Ladera who led all attacking statistics for the Sounders in terms of contributions on goal one hundred and twenty one on toll contributions on goal for the Sounders. As Alex Waldon wriggles free bundled over my Campo seems a simple foil to give nothing given by the assistant referee order

referee in the middle. As lafc build out of the back can high tempo here across the board. Sound Us so far holding strong, couple of chances for LAFC in transition so far remains nil nil bullfans Tilman in the middle of the field, good pressed by Ruydiez coming back to help. Defensively, Leo Chu picks it up. Wriggles free of Tilmour down the left hand side, driving towards the box, comes in well clipped up in the air by Long

and eventually collected by Hugo. Lauris No well done by the Sounders. I mean this certainly was a foul in front of us. Not only is an indication for the Sounders. Okay, if the referee's not gonna call, we can play a little bit more physical, especially to stop the floor of the transition, right, that's what they want get in that first tackle, that

first bump. Give him something physical and instead of allowing them to come in straight behind Bogu's top of box just picks up the header from Nathan retains possession with some pressure from the Sounders. Midfield goes to his left hand side. Campost little overlapping run by the LFC number two strugs off. It's a deflection shot from Bogus Baranga top of the box. We know he can hit them.

It's block well by far Gas. Ricochet goes all the way back to Mario find Sanchez no real pressure by the men in green on the men in black. The ball goes to the right hand side haulings head. Really good campaign last year for holing said goals in the playoffs. Three goals in the playoffs. Why the LAFC right back as the sound has now come in possession but Leo true cheap giveaway middle of the park. Sanchez has it, finds

out to Wester signing in preseason from Palmyras. Overlapping run by Campost Mexican national team player. Ball goes to the box to Bogus to Bolonga, drags his shot wide goalkick Sounders remains no milk. This word possession becomes so important in transition. It's not only just the first pass, but it's the second and third. Once you established possession like the Sounders did in the first ten minutes

of this game, it puts LAFC on their heels. But if you're gonna try and play this quick transition game a like for like, it's not gonna work today. Jordan's got to get involved and hold up the ball for us, right the first couple of minutes. Yes, great, getting in behind would vary the game a little bit and make sure you get your foot on the ball. And you gotta be screaming at LAO two to keep possession of the ball, because the last thing you want is basically playing offense first defense

against LAFC. Here today a little flip by Christian World answer brother Alex runs out of bounds. It's gonna be a thrown for the men in Black. LAFC lost, of course, an MLS Cup last year against Columbus. Crew also lost CCL championship game in twenty twenty three, so, as John Thornton said, can be disappointed with the losses, but certainly can't classify it as a disappointing season, as the Sounders saw in twenty twenty two when we won

the CCL Championship. The rest of the season that year was a struggle when the sound has missed the playoffs for the first time in their history. Of course, came right back in twenty three, made a really good run of it, losing eventually, as he mentioned, one nill to LAFC in that Western Conference Final. As the ball gets launched long and it's LAFC, you're gonna come away that little loose on the passer Holling Seid goes back to Hugo

Luise pressed by Jordan Morris. We've seen more of that from Jordan Morris in preseason. Well, he almost gets his pocket picked. The LAFC come away that Hollings had fast sight the right has some time to strike forward with the ball thirty yards from goal finds Tillman middle of the park, comes left to atch a western left corner of the box is Bowonga one B one versus Alex Roldan overlapping run by Campos, slashes across goal, clips off the crossbar.

It was a cross shut clips off the crossbar. Runs on the fast side, it's gonna be a Sounders throat. It's another one where the Sounders get pushed up really high and Lao two gets base in the coming inside and then it's Hauling's head off on a run. That's why he was so good last year, the ability to isolate Hauling seat on that right hand wing, multiple goals, multiple assists and getting into good attacking positions and then just switching the

point of attack and ultimately finding Bowanga. The Sounders have to be careful. It's good defending from Alex ultimately to put him on his left foot, but a little bit unlucky in that situation comes off the crossbar for Bowonga. For the Sounders need to build themselves into this game with good possession and string together ten fifteen passes where they to come The Sounders now in transition middle of the field. Bruy Diez rolls it to this near side. They're right where the

blonde head Alex rolled on is able to collect. The ball comes back inside to a tensire. We're in the number eight this season, they mentioned in some of his interviews, somewhat of a surprise, but certainly there's pride playing in that middle of the part. Now for the Sounders, now wearing that coveted number eight shirt. The Sounders now build with a little bit of pressure from LAFC as they hold a low block deepen now half of the field.

Sound have it get a little cheap in the giveaway almost given up by Alex. Roldan Sounds able to collect it again. Here is rolled On on this near side. The right rolls it back to Nathan good sustained patient possession by the Sounders. Paul goes into the feet of Christian rolled on ten. She's able to stride forward top of the box. He's got time and space, tries to shoot blocked into ruy Diaz just to find Leo Chu eventually does find

him left corner of the box. One B one against Hollingstead comes along, square far gets top of the box. A little shot by ruy Diaz easily collected by Larise, but again it's those pockets of space Rudyaz is finding and again amazing Lee accurate distribution from Laris finds Bowonga on this left hand side. One B one versus Nathan slash it over the top, goes high and wide goal kick. Sounders remains Neil Neil brad Evans. As a center back.

The first thing I'm thinking as my team goes forward is where is Boowonga? And I need to stay on him and Jackson. You're gonna come across and provide prea Sure, there's gotta be more communication from the two center backs to recognize that, otherwise it's gonna be all day where the Sounders, Yes, keep good possession a little bit unlucky to get a deflection on Ruy Diaz's shot. But you don't want to get into this game again of going back and

forth and back and forth, it's gonna be trouble for the Sounders. Chief giveaway by the Sounders. They build out of the back. Sometimes it's safer to go long. Foul given by the referee. Get Sounders out of that little bit of pressure and danger. It's gonna be a free kick top of

their box. If Sounders FC socket is presented by Provident Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC to get here in the twenty sixth minute Bimo field in la opening game of the MLS season nine fifty am, it's nil nil between these two Western Conference rivals. If you read through and what their predictions are for twenty twenty four, many classify the Sounders as favorite to lift the Western Conference

title, with the LAFC very close behind. As the ball gets flicked long by Christian Worldon eventually hooked clear by Campus and here come LAFC with Tillman striding forward. No real pressure must finds Oliveras and is able to control it. Leo Chu just puts a bit of a weak foot in that tackle. Hollingsid plays it down to the right hand side to Tilman towards the end line. Bogus shouldn't support clips towards that far post headed clear by Nathan bounces a couple

of times. A Christian rold On on this right hand side is able to clear it long up to Jordan Morris pushed in the back by Aaron Long. Nothing given by the referee, LFC able to patiently build it out of the back again. As we mentioned, Hugh Larise World Cup winning captain in twenty eighteen played in that incredibly memorable final in Qatar, where eventually was Messi who won it. Certainly Mbappe it his very best to get the title back for

France. Glorie's made the decision to leave Tottenham Hotspur and find a new home here in la As the Sounders win it top of the box, can they move in transition? They do? They clip it to the far side the left. LEO two has a little bit of time and space. Mario slides across the support. Jordan Morris in the back has to play a little combinations. LEO two with Rurri Diez isn't able to do it and here come LAFC again, sounds looking a little disheveled in the back, able to provide olivera

some time and space to stride forward on the right hand side. Won't be one versus no who. Eventually a shot goes low comfortably in the hands of Andrew Thomas and the Sounders have a chance to build again. It was a good break from the Sounders and Leo two isolates himself, just gets a little bit unlucky on top of the box there. I think he keeps wanting to come inside. We saw that La Galaxy last year. He comes inside,

takes a shot with the right foot. But LAFC doing everything they can to make sure that you know, they're limiting shots on goal today, especially from

that left flank. So getting this right hand side involved a little bit more for the Sounders with Christian not just defensively and making sure that he's covering because yes, bowoga is dangerous, but actually to play defensively you can put yourselves in good position by being really good offensively and pushing up and making sure that when you do have the ball then you gotta be good with it, because then Boowonga has to be honest and he actually has to play defense instead of

just sitting on Nathan's shoulder for the entire half. Vargas has it, there's an aside. The right little combination without shroldn plays into a ten two. Again mentioned Tensio in the off season. WoT one is ability to collect the ball in the middle of the park and certainly looks a lot more comfortable with the ball at his feet as sertain with the conference have been called into US

national team camp as well. As the ball goes to Ryan's side, it's gonna be we'll look like an easy foul from Bowoga, but nothing given by the referee so far. Open Game four these two teams. The ball goes down the line for LAFC to Ali Ferra and there comes new as you mentioned before, is there a bet to play one v one tries to shipping it out of bounds, slips, comes off the heel of the Sounders left back

and it's gonna be a corner cake for LAFC. Well, here's where the referee is gonna get some question marks if this happens continuously over the next three or four is gonna need to get control of the game and all it takes rooim to do now is to call foul that might not necessarily be a foul, but just to earn the trust of the players, because that's now two or three on the sounders in good attacking positions that do look like fouls,

maybe they're a little soft, but just to control the game a little bit, And that one certainly seemed like it was a little bit of tug and it allows LFC to get a corner kick. You should be dangerous. Yeah, you talking about fatigue on the players. That's when mistakes happen. But of course referees have to move up and down the field as well. And if you're not used to that type of mileage on your legs and these types of atmospheres, mistakes can happen. Fatigue can set in, even from the

referees. The ball comes in towards the front post, flicks over, clicks off the bar, it's collected by Boo Wonga. Then she goes over the end line. Assistant referee on the far side. He puts his flag up, but he was a corner kick to that front post. It was flicked over, came off the crossbow, went out of bounds. It's gonna be a goal kick for the Sounders. A little bit of confusion here Brett is Jordan Morris walks over the referee corner kicks being given. To see that replay

if you can see it. I'm not sure if he's saying it's another corner kick. On the other side. It went out of bounce, but it looked like it came off an LAFC player to hit the crossbar, so I'm not sure how it would be. And I think that's the article from Ruidiaz and Jordan Morris. But here we go. It's could be an outswinging corner kick. This sign for LAFC on the far side the right, as they attacked the goal to our left, ball comes in headed clear by Ruy Diaz,

clipped away by Leo Chu. We're pushing the back by Atensio. There was a Tensio who had the chance to go one v one with the World Cup winning goalkeeper. Referee puts the whistle to his mouth. Could be a free kick for LAFC. Yeah, and this is where that might be the one that the referee had to call there because it looked very similar to the one here. Could minted against Alex Rodan just to get a little control of the game. It's a little push, of course, but really the same

thing. On the other side, the player makes a me aal lit a bit quick free kick for LAFC and the Sounders with fifteen minutes left, gain some possession. It's been a good half so far, but more extended possession for the Sounders to really disorganize LAFC yep, Sounders nil, LAFC nil, and the scorp that is presented by Toyota. So we're here in a sun

drenched Bemo stadium. Ball on the far side of the right with LAFC only very little one v one versus Leo Chu good defending blochw initially look out by Vargas, but LFC you gotta collect it again with Sanchez middle of the park goes to Campos on this left hand side out to Boo Wongo's hugging this near

touchline. Bull gooes towards the endlights of campost cuts it back, eventually cleared by a stretching leg of Nathan. Cheap giveaway by Alex Rolldan to the man you don't want to give it away to to Bowonga runs in to Christian rolled On it comes off the heels of the Sounders number seven. It is could be another corner kick for LAFC. Remains nil nil here between these two Western Conference rivals. That to Wester jogs over to take this corner kick on the

LAFC left hand side. It's gonna be a right footed inswinger here right in front of the three two five two section, all standing on their feet, flags waving Sounder's gonna stay strong. The ball comes in, head it up and clear by Jordan Morris top of the box. Click back in by bow Wonga. Head it clear by Nathan off the chest of Bogush. Able to find out to Western on this left channel comes in, clips it in, class it into by Mario across the face of Jackson Reagan. The referee asks

the medical staff to come on quickly. Is a late challenge by Mario across the face of Jackson Reagan. I mean that's a that's a red card for me, and that's an intention to hurt him. The elbow comes across, hits him in the not even making a play at the ball, and if he connects with his face, oh it's shoulder to shoulder. Nothing too a great, just not making a play on the ball looked a lot worse from up here, but two big boys getting after it. But Mario clearly knows

he's not going to get to the ball from Jesus clobbers Jackson Reagan. Well, this copyright to the audio casts of Major League Soccer may not be retransmitted, reproduced, or rebroadcast without the express written consent of Major League Soccer. As the players get, he'll drink of water on this warm day. As many as many miles you put on the legs during preseason, it's not the same. As Christian Woldon mentioned in his presser after Sacramento, you he'd have

the bright lights of an opening game and the heavy legs can happen. But for the Sounders it's been a sharp start bread so far. They've held it to nil nil, certainly against a raucous crowd, and it joins LAFC team sound is so far doing okay. Well, look, it's tough to go away from home and open the game. What'd you say last night twenty seventeen, twenty third time the Sounders open the season away from home, So it's tough, and especially with the changes, it's tough also, and to play

at LAFC, it's even more difficult. So the Sounders are always up up for one tonight, and you figure thirty five minutes into this game, if you'd said nil nil, each side's got a couple chances will be okay. I think we're good. You got to get to halftime now and hit a little bit of a reset. I think Schmitzel will have some conversations in that locker room at halftime. But if you get in at nil nil, make

it there and I think the Sounders would be okay. But we got to provide more offensively, right, You got to provide more offensively and getting behind switch some things up. Maybe it's Raoul and Jordan. You see Jordan coming out here to the right hand side. Raoul up top and keep possession. Bull goes down the line. It's gonna be clipped out by Aaron Long and this nist side the right there is Alex Trogon Truck's up to pick up the ball. Last time he had it in this area, pullayed it long.

This time he goes back to Nathan, who's looked comfortable on that right hand side of the back four alongside Jackson. Reagan clips it from sense to this near side. The right good challenge by Campos wins it off. Alex rolled on find it's the foot of Boowonga, That's why it drops off, creates a little angle, plecks the ball, plays it to Aaron long as the sound is just drop off. What you can feel right now is the energy and the confidence from LAFC building. You can feel it a little bit in

the stadium. As soon as you get four or five corner kicks, you get that section of the of the crowd on your side. The confidence from LAFC. They're starting to find different pockets on the field. The confidence is building, so the Sounds have to be careful to get into halftime. That's westa Wriggles free good challenge by Nathan goes down low, wins the ball no foul given And this time similar challenge. It's Sanchez who went down class into

the back of a Tensio free kick for the Sounders. That's why you hear the just murmuring. It's two similar fowls. But if he puts the whistler's mouth, it's going to be a Sounder's board just inside their half of the field. But February is Black History Month, support Black owned small businesses during the month of February for a chance to win Sounders prizes, Visit intentionless dot com to find a business near you. He's getting here in the thirty seventh

minute, LAFC Neil Sounders nil. So far, so good for the men in Green. And it's been all that we've hoped for. It's been fast, it's been energetic, it's had some quality at times, but goalkeepers had to make some comfortable saves in the end of the day as Fargas just holds

his right leg he's clattered into but I think it was Tillman. Well, this is what happens when when LAFC get to commit a couple of different fouls here, then they think more and more and more and now ultimately rolled On gets a yellow card for descent there as he's trying to protect his own player. But you see the movement that Alex wants from the right hand side when Christian tucks in is Jordan has to come into this space that Christian vacates.

And if Jordan doesn't make this run into the corner, then he has to go back. Every single time, I gotta get possession in the attacking third to at least put this back four of LAFC under pressure because the outside back compost is pushed so far high on Alex that it leaves this whole space for Jordan to operate. If he can recognize that in the last couple of minutes, the Sounders can find some success of him coming outside to end. Andrew

Thomas knocks the ball out of bounds. That is safe than sorry, sometimes suddenly looked comfortable back there in his mlsw for the Sounders step from Fry picking up an injury in practice. So the ball gets not long too well, not back to Luise who plays it back to Mario, wh knocks it down the line. Good step by new hook in front of OLIVERA. He'll be

an LAFC thrown on the fast side. They're right, but during the celebration of our fiftieth anniversary season, the season has only just begun and there's still so much to look forward to. Let's get

here in the final minutes still slash of the hand by hollings Head. I think everyone saw it, apart from the referee who stood five yards away. As that man Hollingshead drives forward into Sounders territory, lays it off to olivera as Tillman clecks the ball. No real pressure from the Sounders as LFC able to pick it up on the right channel as they enter the eighteen yard box, goes around. Does olivera good cover by Jackson Reagan? A little bit

too easy for the LFC right winger. Does Jackson Reagan who slides across As Brian Schwetzer said when the question was asked, what does Jackson Reagan need to do? And this really is second full year and Brian's answers leadership been called international team Kemp certainly one of the better defenders in MLS and his first full season for the Sounders, and now it is Age Brett. It's going to elevate that game and just be a little bit more. Yeah, I think

you're right. At twenty five, we often forget it's only what is second or third year as a professional, But at that age, now that's the expectation. Once you get a couple of seasons under your belt, you're pretty much a season vet at that point because the changeover now is pretty consistent. In MLS, you don't see too many players playing, you know, the same team for fifteen years, but they're coming in younger and younger now.

Now that's the expectation at twenty five. And it's also the same thing. Good ball down the lines, square ball to Rudi a top of the box to Leo Chu, back to Ruids twenty yards from gold. Pressure from Mario goes to Atensio, get some pressure from behind from Olivera is able to retain possession, finds itself on the farst side the left to Leo two strikes a ball right foot, just why dev Larissa's goal to be a goalkick val Afc

remains nil nil Bredevans. But it's also the expectation of the young guys, and you see it there that at even at twenty one or eighteen years old, oh bed and and Utensio, that is the expectation is to be leaders on the field and make those big changes on the pitch. And Lao Chu finds himself in a good position there. It gets that shot that we talked about earlier is trying to come inside on that right foot and unlucky that isn't put it on frame. But at least you have that in the back pocket.

Right you get forward, you get your shot, you get a little bit more confidence. Now for Holling said, he's thinking, okay, he is gonna shoot. I gotta dive. That's when Lao Chu finds that cut gets back to his left foot. So credit to Lao to keep keep pushing, keep pushing. Sounds a little bit sustained pressure in these final minutes of the first half is get here in the forty first minute it remains nil nil

here start to see people walking past us go for the halftime refreshments. As the Sounders half possession with Jackson, Reagan rolls the ball out for this near side the right, Alex rolled On plays the ball inside to Jordan Morriss. Only five touches on the first half at Horris finds Christian rolled On right hand side, cuts back on his left foot top of the boxes. Alex rolled On pinched in from his right back spot, find some way to the left

hand side to now try to take a shot. Why not blocked by OLIVERA is gonna be a Sounder's throwing but why not. I mean, that's the last person on the field you really want taking a shot in that instance, it's such good pressure from the Sounders. Keep it. You've just now disorganized LAFC. And then you take a shot from the corner of the eighteen.

That's probably not gonna go one frame if history repeats any of itself. But you still retain possession in the attacking half, and now it's just about getting the halftime. Maybe with another opportunity. I'm gole yep, both teams just try to see how these final minutes Sounder is now in possession in the attacking half of the field, goes all the way back to Andrew Thomas, all decked out in blue and the Sounders goal long streaking blonde hair feel comfortable so

far in his debut for the Sounds. The ball goes down the line right channel to Jordan Morris's got some time in challenge by Aaron Long right corner of the box. Comes the ball to Christian Woldon, square to Ruy Diaz has been lively in this first half. A tent sire rolls it out to the

right hand side. Christian Woldon has it goes square a little shot by Ruiy diazn't deflecting it just over the top corner kick Sounders remains still no but a good chance by Ruy Diaz and the Sounders great build up and that's all credit to Obed Vargas finding a little pocket and the first thought is forward, forward, forward. He turns, gets in behind. Good sustained pressure there and it's a two v one on this right hand side with the left back has

to make a decision. I either go with the Runnerho's gonna get to the byline, or a step to Christian Rolldon. Unfortunately, he goes with the runner and Christians find Raul and that's unlucky because this one's going in the back of the net if it doesn't get blocked. And it's a great block from I think Ilie Sanchez who stepped back as a center back. There, two hands up in the air for Alex rolled On on the fast side. The left in swinger is gonna be for the Sounders with his right foot and it

comes top of the six yard box. Flick clear by Aaron Long, but it bounds a couple of times. Nathan's gonna pick it up. He's gonna try and see it out of bounds, a little push in the back, nothing given by the assistant referee. That's three yards away, given away by lafc. Now is Christian of Roldan's gonna clip it back in headed cleared by Sanchez and it's Mario who's gonna pick up the loose ball. Plays the ball down the lines to fast side the right to olive Vera are challenged well by

Leo Chu won bat by Jordan Morris. Good pressure by the Sounders offense. Leo Chu gets crunched into nothing given by the referee. It's pretty obvious five yards away he's standing nothing given. Sounders have it left corner of the box. Jordan Morris is Leo Chu stays on the deck after getting clattered into their

twenty five yards from gol. The Sounders still having possession in the attacking half of the field with Christian roll Dan to Nathan Well, Discount Tire get thirty percent short to average weight time when you buy and book online at disc Guya discount tire dot com. She'd give away by Jackson Reagan and the attacking half for the field no real danger but kind of stunts the offense for the Sounders. That we get here in the final few minutes of this first half,

and Brad you mentioned not much to be said by Bryan Schmitzer. Teams look pretty comfortable so far. It's just that transition by LAFC as they have it now as they stride forward with olivera left hand side rules it to Campos has been lively in his MLS W four LAFC challenge by Vargas goes towards the end like clicks towards the far post, strike on goal, and that's not what

the Sounders wanted. It was Tillman on the back post who took the volley down and struck it past Andrew Thomas and the Sounder's goal and puts LFC one goal Toanilla. Bob, we listened to the crowd as we watch this replay and take it in and it's Compost who beats Obed Vargas down the line. The Sounders are in disarray in the back. There you've got two center backs

sitting inside. Ones goes to the ball in Jackson, Reagan and Knew who finds himself trying to make a play on the back line, and Lease Tillman

completely unmarked in the back. The Sounders a little bit shell shocked at that sustained pressure, and you said it it was Jackson Reagan with one mispass that goes out of bounds, and if it wasn't for that, I think the Sounders come in here at halftime and keep that sustained pressure and it just tells you that the game is just of inches, right, and it's about that

counter attack. And before we saw that play, I think the big question that you talked about Schmitzer not saying anything at half time was always going to be the two sixes providing cover. Because if I'm in at halftime and I'm those defenders, too many times have we been caught in transition. We're up front, we've given the ball away too cheaply, and we're constantly under pressure

and chasing. You can see the guys a little bit wary at the back there, because when you're mentally strong, you're marked up inside of the box, and if you're not, you tend to mark space instead of marking the man when it should be man for man, do or die inside of the box. We see two guys free there, Bowonga and Tillman, who finds himself free with a volley hits the pitch in the back of the neck for

LAFC. Well, certainly the tone of branch FETs half time has now taking a change as he stands there in his technical area, hands in his pocket. Just disappointed was Vargas, who was eventually the player that came to challenge the LFC left back and that clipped to the far post caught out. The Sounders says, hey, LFC, come again. Is Bowonga inside the box left side? Look step over? Event she collected by Andrew Thomas strike into

the Sounders keeper's hands. Again, he was Vargas who had to slide across and be the man who challenged this time is Bowonga inside their box on the left hand side. The Sounders try and see out these final few moments for the first half. Well, it was cheap giveaways at the end of the day, and that one from Vargas up the in the attacking half. But

then he's the one making the defensive play. And when you give away a ball, it's the worst place because now you got to make a seventy five yard sprint back and it takes you out of the game because you're just tired, and then you start to make bad decisions right on the pitch, especially as you go into halftime. You give them forty five plus minutes, you make one mistake and you get tired, You get mentally tired. Especially in

the first game of the season. Well two minutes of extra Mount stopp Is time come to a close goal by Tillman in the forty fifth minute. Disappointing into that first half where the Sounders look reasonably comfortable. LAFC looked strong in the transition. But as we go into the break, it's gonna be Sounders trailing. At the half. We're gonna throw it to Jackson Feltz and Chance Fry. You'll be brought to break it all down. But at halftime here

at Bimo Stadium, it's LAFC one, Sounders nil. When two forces for good come together, united by a greater purpose, something amazing happens. Now time for the Sounders EFC halftime show forty five minutes in the book set BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, and

LAFC leads your Seattle Sounders by a score of one nothing. It's a goal by Timothy Tillman just a few moments before the whistle was blown, before halftime, and what could have been a zero zero game with a lot of momentum I think, in a lot of optimism about the last forty five minutes. Suddenly it now turns into the Sounders having to score to get a result.

Here on the road. I'll quickly tell you that today's match is brought to you by Western Washington, Toyota Dealers, Toyota Let's Go Places, Jackson Feltzon Chance Fry here for the halftime show and Chance. It's got a little bit like the playoff game last year in terms of the feelings where Jordan Morris misses

a great chance in the first two minutes, LAFC scores before halftime. LAFC is leading one nothing right now, and the questions for the Sounders are can we get some offensive momentum going and find something on the offensive end of the field, because unfortunately we just haven't seen it completely come together in the first forty five Yeah, we obviously don't like to be down, but one zero

is not the end of the world. But taking a goal at the end of the half like that when you've worked so hard feels mentally worse, okay, but the reality of it is that La had some very good chances and probably should have been up one before that. It's just taking that goal right at the end makes it feel a little bit worse. Like I said, bredon Dannyman saying it the whole half, we're giving the ball away too cheaply.

And that was my second key of the matches is you know, keep the clean sheet, keep possession, but if you keep giving the ball away, all of a sudden you're running back, you're doing defensive doggies, and it's it hurts. It does indeed, and should be mentioned again that this is a Sounder team that is today missing Stephen Fryan goal, Andrew Thomas getting

his first career start. Joel Paulo's out with a hip injury, so you have Josh Atensio and Obed Vargas in there together in this four four to two. You have Albert russ Knack out. We know he's great with getting possession for the Sounders and keeping possession. He's out with an ankle injury. So this Jamar Gomez Andrade too. Nathan's done well in his spot, but Gomez

Andrade also out for the Sounders. So Sounders are down at one. Taking a look at the Sounders bench today, it includes Jacob Castro, Javier Ariaga, Jonathan Bell, Cody Baker, Danny Leva, Dylan Tevez, Paul Rothrock, Danny Muzowski, and the new number ten for the Sounders,

Pedro de la Vega. So chance, knowing that this team is down one nothing right now, knowing that we need to score to kit result, what can Brian Schenzer do both on the field here at the start of the second half, and then with that bench to find a goal in the last forty five minutes. I think firstly, what he's going to do is he's going to bring him in the locker room. They're all going to be upset for

giving up that goal at the end of the half. He's going to calm them down, tell them that before they can start thinking about any tactics or anything else like that, they have to keep the ball. That's the main thing. Doesn't matter what player is in, what position, or anything else. That doesn't have anything to do with what's happening right now. What's happening is we're giving the ball away too easily, and until we keep the ball,

we can't establish anything. That's the first thing that he's gonna say. And then he's gonna, you know, figure out which changes that he either wants to make or has to make. As the half goes on, there's gonna be guys that are going to be starting to get tired because it's the first game of the season, and then he's gonna make some changes, you know it. There's a You look at the bench, it's very strong, and there's there are a lot of options for Brian and it'll be interesting to

see what he does. And it'd be fun to see de la Vega get out there see if he can do something. But first and foremost, he's not gonna do anything if we don't have the ball. Yeah, and I would I would think that dala Vega, since he did make the flight down there and got to uh got to Los Angeles yesterday, he does have something in him. You know, hopefully he does have thirty ors so minutes to give the Sounders today, because that would be big to try to put a

ball in the back of the net and equalize this match. LAFC leading one nothing right now. Will build your own match schedule with a two thousand and four pick him a plan. Here's how it works. Welcome back to Bemos Stadium in La where those Sounders are in the opening game of this MLS season against LAFC and they trail one goal to nail off a last minute goal by Tilman. There's a cross by Campost of the post. Tilman was wide open, was able to

strike you past MLS debutante Andrew Thomas in the Sounders goal. Well, horrible time into conceit, of course, but oh six and one of the sound is here at be most. So it's gonna take everything from this team to try and get back into this game. As the flags wave here by, the supporters around us, all decks out in black. But Brad, as the players get set to start this second half, You've been in lucking with Bryan Schmidt so many a time. What is he saying to his team after

conceding so late in that first half. Yeah, I think Chance said it best. It's we have to keep the ball. And how many times do we talk about the counter attack from LAFC and giving up the ball cheaply in the attacking half for the Sounders. That's the name of the game. That's soccer. You know what opponent you're playing today. You're not going into a team, you know like La Galaxy where they really don't play on the counter

attack, you know, or a more possession based team. This LAFC team has been since the inception, built on a four to three to three that just attacks relentlessly and if you give the ball away, you're gonna get punished.

So if the Sounders come in here and think that they can and push everyone forward and give the ball away cheaply, that's the reason for being six and one in a place that you know the teams like for like, they're pretty well matched right at the end of the day, two really solid teams. But if you're gonna give the ball away, that's the name of the game for soccer. But it also feels you mentioned it several times in that

first half, the transition speed of LAFC. The sound has seemed to get caught in the same way several times, didn't really adjust to the speed that the LAFC team have on the left on the right hand side. Yeah, I think it was a case of not being set up. And I think more than Schetz will be upset and the fans, I think Andy Rose will be driven crazy by what he saw in that first half. Defensively, and it's all about covering space and covering a little bit of zone a little bit

better and sit with ope at Vargas. Just sit there right and just be a number six. We don't need you to attack, just provide cover for everyone on the field. As a second half gets underway, LFC quickly in transition picking off where they left off in that first half of the Wonga charging in the back of Nathan. Nothing given by the referee. Hresley Costo as we mentioned, referees on strike right now and where's it costs as stepped in.

Has got a decent first half. Certainly some fowls you'd expect to be given were not That included one we just saw right there where, but one try to go past Nathan got run into the back. That's gonna be an early corner kick for LAFC as we look to see if the team made any changes. It's gonna be an in swinging corner kick by the men in black as they attacked the goal to our right and it comes flicked away by Jordan Morris top of the box to Bogu strikes it low, easily block by the

sounders. Can Leo Chu pick it up right in front of us here gets it Ankle's clip. No foul given. I felt that the ball was out of play, but nothing given by the assistant referee right in front of us. As Bogus wriggles free of Atensio, Tilman in support eventually gets it, whips it in towards the front post, cleared well by Nathan. Top of the box to Holling's head. Finds Bowonga twenty five yards from Gold cuts to

his right, tries to find the top corner, hits the crossbar. I'm just gonna wake the sounders up as they come out in the second half. The ball gets popped up in the air, collected eventually by Andrew Thomas because the sound has come now. I'm in transition as LAFC settling in quickly to this second half sound as he to wake up coming out of this locker room.

Listen LFC play a little bit of high press. Andrew Thomas comfortable the ball that its feet clips it the over isn't he able to find new who ne who needs to get up and that because the LFC team is back on balling. The feet of Olivera goes across the six yop box defended well by Nathan, just took it off the toe of Bowonga again. Sound is giving it away cheaply. You know what I can't I can't understands Leo two gets found well what he thinks is a foul here, stays on the ground for

five six seven seconds, doesn't get up and help his defenders defend. Then Bowonga gets a shot on target. And then the next play knew who Yes, it's a bad ball from Andrew Thomas gets played out of bounds and then he's kind of sitting on the ground hoping that the play and then they play quick and it's an opportunity on goal ball across the box. Guy's gotta wake up. It's it's do or die right now at LAFC to get one back here ball went over the endline, tackle and block by Jackson Reagan. It's

gonna be a corner kick the seller. The applause you get is for Atossa. Backing to the lineup back at the club, have to take in some time at Palmyras rips the ball in headed clear by Jackson Reagan, bounces outside the box, collected by Camposter, rolls it back to this near side the right to ato west and look one b one versus Jordan Morris. But knew who's able to come and clean it up. Leo Chewing support just rips his left foot around. He doesn't give Rudy as much of a chance to collect

it, so the ball goes all the way back to Laurie. So let's give you that. Sounders lineup as they come out in this second half, and Andrew Thomas making his MLS debut in goal, a back four roll down, Nathan Reagan and new Who the midfield of Obert Vargas Atensu in the middle, Christian rolled On on the right, Leo Chu on the left, and a combination of Jordan Morris and Ruy Diaz up front. There's two balls on

the field, referees not stopping it. There's a couple of changes to substitutions and in the off season which some of the referees were pushing back on. So far, same rules as applied to the twenty twenty three seasons applying to the twenty four season. As we wait for those referees to get all on the same page with the league, get what they hopefully can get and get

them back out on this field. Does the Sounders have this fast sight on the left hand side to Ruy Diaz who cuts it back to Neu who as he flicks it down the line to Ruidiaz through the legs of Holling said could play by ruy Diez, could step by Lafc win the ball cleanly. Sanchez knocks it back to Mario. Sounders have players around it able to put pressure on the ball. As Vargas comes across, the ball gets played to Atchawesa finds Olivera tries to find the run of Bogush down the right hand side.

Sounders are able to pick it up and come away with a tensio. Let's give you the lineup for Lafc whore up one gold to nil. Here Laris and goal a back four of Hollings had Mario long camposts midfield three of Atcha, Wessas Sanchez, Tillman an attacking three of Olivera, Bogush and bou Wonga. Because the balls in the far side the right right the corner clipped away

the heels of Christian rolled on by Tilman, the goal scorer. In the forty fifth minute, just before halftime, Fargas has it drives forward towards the endline right channel, again tackled by Tilnoho's about to do his defensive duties clip long off the chest of Nathan, who's able to stride forward to Christian rolled On tries to wriggle free of Campos, it doesn't. The young Mexican left back. Good solid start to his LAFC Kriig and the assists for Tillman.

You know, opening goal is Jackson. Reagan calmly lays it back to Andrew Thomas and Brad Thomas looked reasonably comfortable the bullet his feet. Yeah, I think Thomas had a good start to this game, and credit to him making that first say in the first five minutes, get your hands on the ball. It's what he wanted. But I think, yeah, Andrew Thomas has settled in the distribution, yes, for the better part of this game pretty good. Now it's just about organization, especially on that goal. That is

his job to make sure that everyone's organized. You can see Jackson screaming, but at the end of the day, it's got to come from Andrew Thomas as well, making sure that everyone's organized, and that's the next step for him as he evolves. But the Sounders so far weathering. You know, the first part of this half from LAFC a couple decent chances. But the

Sounders is some good sustained pressure here in the attacking half. Let's it we be throwing for LFC on this nar side there right miscontrolled by Leo True Bull went right into his foot. Those are the things that Bryan schiz is good demands to get cleaned up by his team. In green is Leo Chu left corner of the Boks just wriggles free of San plays its square to Christian, rolled on to Alex, rolled on chance by Campo top of the box.

Tilim comes across. Nothing given by the referee. Clear simple foul, gave an advantage. Bull went over the Top's gonna be a goalkick for LAFC and the referee didn't put the whistle to his mouth and call it back. Brad Evans referee not having anything for the Sounders tonight. So Sounders are gonna have to play through it. To be careful because Christian already picked up a yellow

card. You don't want Alex on another one just for dissent. You know, play the game and allow allow your captain to basically take control at this point. And Christian's got to be better in these situations to really calm the team down, maintain possession and make sure that he takes control well. Some of the questions were asked about lafc's level of possession in games and the manner

in which they were playing. They've always been known to be an open attacking team, but something that Western Conference semi final thirty five percent possession did LAFC have and Sounders again coming to this second half with fifty two percent possession an independent of the fact that Sounders are given away the ball cheaply at times in the attack in half of the field, Sanders have maintained some level of control in this game. As the ball gets rolled back to Jackson Reagan. Today's

match is brought to you by Western Washington Toyota Dealers. Toyota Let's go places for here. In the fifty third minute Son covering about half the pitch here at be most stadium in LA. The ball goes into Rudia top of the box, flicked around the corner to Leo. Chu tries to clip around Holling's head, doesn't. Vargas picks it up a little push in the back.

Again, the referee gives nothing. It seemed an obvious foul. Brian Schmetzer up on his feet having awarded the fourth official, as Precky stands up on his feet as well. I think, unfortunately, as Brian mentioned, it is what it is when it comes down to some of these decisions they could have to face today. As Rudiez has it attacking half for the field, tries to clip it around, it's a late challenge on ruiy Diz. Eventually the referee puts the whistle to his mouth. It's gonna be a free kick

for the Sounders. Remains nil nough. Yeah, well it won't be the referee's fault if the Sounders get out of here in a one nothing loss. It'll be a matter of not keeping possession and giving it away in advanced positions and obviously not staying connected defensively as much as they would have. I think they'd look back at that first half and say, hey, maybe we sit with two number six is and allow Rudiez in the front four just kind of

work their magic and let Alex get involved. But we're going to really try and control the middle of the park. And that's where this game was one for LAFC in the first half was giving up too much of that middle of the park and allowing space to be open on the outsides. Let me try it again, LFC one Sounders nils a score line as Alex fold On has it, he's going to clip it in good delivery. Eventually collected by Luis

it bounced up into his chest just inside the six yard books. Alex rol don't expected to Sounders player to be at the end of that as good delivery as LFC come again with players available and free Bogush this time top corner of the books. Overlapping run by compost. Bogush comes into his white foot and knocks it into the upper ninety Really was a wonderful finish. Has he curled it into the far corner. It clatters it off the the crossbar on the

post and it puts LAFC up to those vanillas. The big screen shows Will Ferrell up on the screen celebrates in the second goal for LAFC. Again. It's a counter attacking goal. It's actually a well swung end ball from Alex Roldan and no one's getting there. It actually almost bounces before it if Laurie Missus had it goes in the back of the net. Instead, he picks it up gets to the top of the eighteen and who's open Bowanga sitting at halfway line, and for the Sounds, that's the one guy you have to

be marked up on. Cannot allow him to turn and get forward. He beats two guys and finds Bogush and he's right footed all day long. He's always gonna cut inside. I mean, it's a fantastic finish. He hits top bins there. It's a cobweb sitting in the corner, hits both posts and bounces in the back of the net. Absolutely nothing Andrew Thomas can do there. But again it's a counter attacking goal, and the Sounders not turned

on defensively to handle anything from LAFC on the counter today. Well, Brad, the frustrating thing I'm sure for the coaching staff is going to be the fact that all preventable goals if Sounders can get themselves back into better positions defensively help each other out. Players like Bogush three goals on the season last year, one of them being of course, against the Sounders in that first minute when the Sounders lost one goal to nil. Hits the second goal here for

the men in Black. Because the Sounders now have somewhat of a mountain to climb as they try to front themselves back into the game here in the fifty seventh minute. Yeah, we've been enough for these games. It can get out of hand really quick, but it's it's really important. Yes, the referee is not calling fouls. You can't get into a battle with the referee right now because the Sounders are gonna look for little tiny ones on the field.

As really Dias is down now on the field, but the Sounders are going to look for little fowls on the field, and they can't get into a one v one battle with the reps and expect that fowls are gonna come. You gotta stick to the game plan no matter if you're two nothing down right now, Yeah, you make a couple of subs and see what you can switch up. But for the Sounders at this point, it doesn't matter if it's two to three nothing for nothing. At this point, you got

to push and get forward. The Sounders have to come out of this game with something in the last thirty minutes of this game to go home and work on. But we've seen these games. We've played at LA Galaxy, I've played at LA galaxy and you go down to nothing and you find your way back into the game. But it's gonna take a lot of grit today, and it's gonna take a lot of focus for the Sounders to find themselves in

good positions on the field to make any sort of play happen. Well, new signing for the Sounders in the offseason, Danny Massovski is gonna come on the field for ralrud as it went down but like an injury, and Alex Roldan is also gonna come off the field. Cody Baker is gonna come on the field like for like swap try to shut down that left hand. Sorry for LAFC Cody Baker being more defensively minded in some respect than Alex Roldan.

But the sound is gonna have to find a way to get back into this game and get back in this game quickly, and we'll see if there's gonna be a slight shift in formation. So right now, Musofsky is gonna play alongside Jordan Morris. The ball goes long played by Maria, but not well finds the foot of Mussofsky's gonna played of course, a handful of years here at LAFC before making a move to RSL. This ball gets popped up into

the air. New competing against OLIVERA wins that header finds attention. Here has been somewhat quiet in this game so far. Ball gets clipped out of bounds. It's gonna be a sound throw. Sounders FC Soccer is presented by Provident, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC. Get here in the fifty ninth minute, LAFC leading two goals to nil, opening game of the MLS season. First time Sounders have played away from home in this opening game since twenty

seventeen, LFC have won six of six of their opening games. Of course, their first game ever in MLS was out in lumen Field twenty eighteen and Diego Rossi in the first half scored a goal to win that game one nil. Is the LC come again with Tilman is able just to clip the ball

away from pressure and retain possession. Four. LAFC rolls back to World Cup winning goalkeeper Hugo Lerise, who's been comfortable so far in the LAFC goal, finds the foot of Buwonga, who's marauding down that left hand side, covered by Nathan Cody Baker and support, but again just not much pressure. One too to Polonga inside the box, pulled down by Nathan. Referee gives nothing

and now he's calling it off side. It's momentary paus by the crowd as they saw the referee put his arm up in the air that one two around Brett Evans. There was a clear yeah, clear off side. But the big question is what's Massovsky gonna bring to the game and Cody Baker. We talked about Alex Rodon and his coming off of injury. He was sixty minutes fit, they said, but it was all about his numbers. And now that the Sounders are down to nil, they probably could have pushed Alex if

the game was going well in a different trajectory. But now it's get Alex off. Hopefully he's healthy for the next week. But now Cody can provide that with he's he's young. He can bribe some athleticism, recovery and from Massovski. He's got to be dangerous in front of goal. He's got to be a poacher. Today he's playing back. You know at his former team that he's taking a year off break from and you know, now it's about getting him involved, and he's gonna have to be the one that sits and

plays a little bit more defensively. He's not going to be the creator, but he's got to be that second runner in the box and hope to get some service in the game. We've lacked any sort of service getting him behind or turning around lafc's defense today. And I know that that's not typically what the Sounders are built on, but at some point of what you're doing for

sixty minutes isn't working, then we got to try something else. Bull goes into the feet of Masovsky, who just skipped by him, and goes into the hands of Laris Posovski's sixteen goals in his eighty game MLS career when the Sounders love to find his seventeenth Here at Bemo Stadium as LAFC building now a little bit high oppressed by the Sounders, but Les Sanchez is really dictated ten point in the middle of the field alongside at to Wester and Tillman, it

sound and it's LFC farst side the left have it in possession. That to Wester, who's seen as one of the real bright midfielders in MLS before he made his move to Brazil, Zill came back on loan. A good capture by Thorns and as he tries to fill those gaps left by seventeen players leaving La Bull goes down the line, he's not able to be collected by Leo Chew. And that's the story somewhat of the afternoon so far. Right,

Evans a cheap, cheap giveaways. You know that five six yard pass that is under pressure, Yes, but that's a pass you expect these guys to make at this level and where they're at in their careers, right, A lot is expected of those two in the midfield. You got to connect every one of your passes, right. That was Ozzie Alonzo's big thing, ninety five ninety six percent pass rating every single game. He just never lost a ball and he always made that right decision. It never had to be that

killer pass. Right. That's for your number ten, that's for your wingers, that's for your number nine to try and do and create. Your job is to just connect and make sure that we keep possession of the ball. That's the biggest miss to not having JP in the squad today. Random amplows going on the stadium is the face of KILEENI comes up on the big board.

Of course, he's a play development coach. Now as you retire in this offseason, the much heralded center defender from Italy European Championship winner so many Seria AR titles with the Avens. Now he's helping the team in the background and develop those young players. Is the LFC with one of those young players Bogush, with Thorington spoke about in preseason, a player that he expects to see step up as he does Tillman. Both players today have found the scoreboard.

Does the LFC having is Bogush tries to clip it around the corner, goes over the end line. It's gonna be a goalkick for the Sounders. Remains LFC two Sounders nil. Here in the sixty fourth minute, I think what you'll see here is LAFC start to move around a little bit and Bogus

can come into that pocket. You're gonna see a lot more movement. I think LFC in the beginning of this game was staying very rigid in their attack, and now that they're up to nothing, I think that the coaching staff and the players feel a little bit more freedom to kind of make a little bit more creativity. If it doesn't come off, okay, you give up a goal kick, it doesn't really matter at this point, So the Sounder has gotta be careful. I think you see a lot of rotation from lafc

well a couple more substitutions for the Sounders. That man della Vega. As we see the Sounders fans in the top right corner getting on their feet to put a big round of applause, He's gonna come on the left hand side for Leo Chu and it's also gonna be Ariaga. What a player to come off the bench to add some experience. He's gonna play on that left hand side of the back. Two central defenders as Jackson Reagan's gonna slide it to

the right. Here's gonna be Nathan who's gonna make way. So the Sounders now haven't made four changes. As Ariaga, it's stuck with the ball at his feet. This is a tough introduction to his MLS season. He plays the ball square and across and gives it away cheaply. Not the type of ball you want to play from the back. As Cody Baker tries to catch Campos he does, just holds him up on the far side of the right, comes back to add to Wester challenged by Vargas. Look clip inside to

this goalscorer. Bogoosh's campost assist man for that opening goal for LAFC. Good play by Cody Baker. Won't be one slides to save the corner kick. It's going to be a throne for LAFC on the far side. We'll see what type of magic Dela Vega can bring to this game. Sounders need something, some type of magic to find themselves back in this game. Jordan Morris to the play alongside Mussovsky needs to be a little bit more involved in the

game. Eleven touches in the game so far really hasn't been involved in this second half at all. As we're twenty minutes in, so far really been quiet for the men in green. The ball gets clipped down the line left side to Mussovsky, challenged by Mario into the back. Eventually referee gives it a couple of those fowls and that should be a yellow card by Mario. It's a quick free kick given to the Sounders. It was if Theyga put the ball in the deck of play it around the coonam are stuck a legoutb

Bret Evans. It should be a yellow cut, Yeah, it should be a yellow car. But what I noticed that practice in the past couple weeks, even when we went to the opening of the training center, is when they play possession, there's a lot of emphasis on keep the ball moving forward,

forward, forward, forward, forward. And I remember days when it was just like, let's just keep the ball for extended periods of time instead of every time trying to push it push, And I think some of these youngsters think that they have to push the ball forward every single time, and that's what's led to Today's a little bit of inconsistency from Josh and Obed thinking that they have to go forward with every pass. Just keep it. Your

center backs will thank you, your outside backs will thank you. Everyone will. And then it's about how are we going to play with Jordan? Are we going to play to his feet or are we gonna play him behind? And you can't figure it out. Today. I couldn't tell you what the game plan is with Jordan and how he wants the ball. I haven't seen him come to a center back and say, hey, lump that ball in behind, I'm ready to go. I want to chase it. Let's stretch

it. I'm going to battle for every ball. I haven't seen that yet, so I think early part of the season disjointed in how the Sounders really want to play free kick for LAFC. There's a quick transition from a free kick that came in from della Vega, went short, it was easily cleared by LAFC. In transition, knew Who had to pull down Olivera and got the yellow card as the ball get shifted if he sent her to the far side the Sounder's right, and it's gonna be a free kick for the Sounders.

Camp Posts shrugs off. Christian rolled arm. Free kick given, and it's gonna be Jackson Reagan now just shifted to that right hand side of the back four. Well, at least the two central defenders playing on the right hand side. As Oriod comes in, plays his on his more preferred left hand side. Poor touched by Della Vega. Now transitioned by LAFC. Finds belong the top of the box, comes on his left foot, good block by knew Who, and it's Bogush's gonna pick up the loose ball because back

to add to west a little step over towards the end line. Cody Baker Vargas coming close to He's able to regle free. Eventually this sound is pick it up with Massovski, clips it around to roll down, plays it in behind. Here's Jordan Morris takes a big touch top of the buck. Jordan Morris looks like a foul. Nothing given by the referee, and we'll see if var will take a look. It was a one v one by Jordan

Morris and it was lafc's back line. He was coming back and it was Aaron Long but trying to come in and just barreled in the back of Jordan Morris. On the replay, looks an obvious foul. But here comes Oliver across the face of goal and Bogush just misses it by a whisker. He's gonna roll out to the fast sight. I'm not sure how that's not a foul on Jordan Morris. Aaron Long gets none of the ball as referee stops play. This will go back up top and it's a great release from the

Sounders. It's I mean, they're defending for their lives on one end and then all of a sudden, it's a quick quick break for the Sounders and it's a good release pass from Christian Rodan takes a touch, but Aaron Long makes a tackle and gets nothing of the ball. Only player in that situation. This one's got to come back for a pks. We watch it here, a big touch here, and then Aeron Long clips his back leg and

Jordan has nothing to do but to go down. If I'm a player, he clips his leg there and comes down, it makes no play on the ball and gets his ankle. Well, he's gonna look at it. Yeah, these are the chances with VR can actually step in and help these inexperienced referees out. It was a quick break by the Sounders. Jordan Morris got in behind and before he was able to really lash the ball on goal, he got clipped on his heels as the referee puts his fingers to his ear

and listens to his earpiece. We'll see if this gets turned around. If this copyrighted audio cast of Major League Soccer may not be retransmitted, reproduced, or rebroadcast without the express written consent of Major League Soccer and the Booze and the Groans are because the referee is shown the var signal and off to the side he goes, and he's gonna take a clear look at this. I think, Brad Evans, you mentioned there's no way that this can't be given

based on the video replay that we're seeing right now. Yeah. I mean if Aaron Long doesn't touch the ball and only touches the player as he's in the box, he barrels through him right here, so he says a red card. It's a trip in the box. No, it's denial of goal scoring opportunity. They're not going to give a red card and a PK. They'll only give a PK here if it's further up the field. I think outside of the box, yes, it's a red card last man, but

they won't give that. Inside the box it'll be a yellow card and a PK. I think watching that play, they don't call fout. And then all of a sudden it's a ball across the box. Relfc once again on that counter attack, not being aware. And that's what you get with this team is in five seconds they're down the field with the ball slipped across the box that they easily could have scored on well, LAFC, certainly last year in twenty twenty three, they're all about transition. For that team's second most

chance is created from high press and MLS. I think it's shown both in the Western Conference Final when it was in transition that but US score that rocket of a short into the roof of the net. So he's sit here waiting with bated breath to see if the referee and VR can actually make the obvious call here. It feels Brennan's going on for a little too long, and we can see this foul's bring something pretty obvious to give. I'm sure what

he's arguing about. The only question on this replay is that I mean he hits his leg into he hits Jordan's leg into his own ankle, right, but it's still contact inside of the box. The only thing he could be thinking right now is that Jordan actually trips himself, But that's not the case when Aaron hits his knee into Jordan's leg and yeah, he's forced to trip himself because he's got his feet swiped out in front of him, rolls his ankle even Well, this is the big decision of the game. As we

get here in the seventy second minute Sounders trailing two goals to nil. He's clearly in the box as well. It can't be an argument that he's outside the box. But that says a lot about about both these teams. I mean, this is the Sounder best chance tonight, right, is a counter attacking play with a slit ball that hopefully fortunately they draw a Pete k from and attacking wise, just hasn't been enough from the guys this afternoon. Here's

the referee shows the var and there's the penalty for the Sounders. Seemed the obvious call and Brady got it right. It was a yellow card given to Aaron Long. And it's gonna be what looks like Pedro della Vega who's stepping up confidently as he goes to collect the ball from behind the goal. We

saw it against Sacramento in the last preseason game. Took a penalty there, slotted it nicely to the goalkeeper's right to his left, and what a chance now for the young man, the under twenty two DP marquee signing of the offseason for the Sounders. Can he bring through on this game? Can he find the opening goal for the Sounders and get them right back into this game.

As he takes four, five six steps back. Referee is holding the players, fans booing right in front of the three two five two section flax waving. It comes Della Vega steps up and rolls it in the back of the net, and that's the opening goal of the twenty twenty fourth season for the Sounders and the first goal for Pedro Dela Vega. It's Lafc two Sounders one. Well, you can't start a season or your first game with the Sounders better than that. You're not your first goal on a PK cool calm

collected. He came on a little straight. Usually when you come on straight to the by, always think you're gonna go right. In surprise, Lori's hasn't seen that before and decides to go the other way. But good patience almost gets Lori's to shift his hips and places it in the bottom right corner. Now you see the energy. Now you see the Sounders of the little bit lively, a little bit, a little bit more awake, driving power.

Right, this is what we need for the Sounders. In the last couple of minutes, all it takes is one there comes Lafc and there's a two footed tackle, and that might be a second yellow. That might be a second yellow for new Her. I think he fears the worst. The sound is feel the worst, and this would be an incredible shift in this game. Just as the sound has come back into it, he's knew who gonna get his second yellow card? Nothing so far by the referee, and

I think lafc are asking the question seems an obvious yellow card. It was a look like a two footed challenge, But I don't know what you saw. Yeah, it wasn't. It wasn't egregious by any means. He could a little bit earlier. I think if he if he didn't go down as early as he did. It almost looks like he slips and his feet come out beneath him. But it goes down really early. And yes, the cleat is up and I'm not sure that's the one that even catches the attacker

there. So I think he's lucky to get out of here unscathed. Let's look at it here. No, his foot goes down. I mean, yes, he comes up with his foot, but it goes down at the end and he gets all ball here and his feet really catch a flat to the grounds. Yeah, they didn't stay up, so good decision by the referee. Good decision. There's gonna be an LAFC free kick here. Sounder is gonna have to hold strong top of the bucks, that line holds.

Bull comes in towards the far post, but he Baker does a good job, lets the ball go out of bound. It's gonna be a gold kick for the Sounders's l EFC lead here two goals to one, and this score update is presented by Providence Swedish and bred Evans. Game on, Yeah,

game on. I mean the Sounders here with a big shift and these two subs and all it takes is one little bit of magic, right, You get a little bit lucky on that PK call, which definitely was a PK and I think it put a little bit of something into the Sounder sales. After that they all sprint back and there was a little bit of jolt of energy. Get fortunate on this new who no call here, But there's plenty of time, right fifteen minutes. You can't get two out of control.

Now. You gotta be smart because LAFC at any moment, we know we'll catch you on the counter attack. Jacob's Baker far side the right rolls it out, so Christian rolled on pressure from Campos. No substitutions by LAFC. So far sounders have made four and they're finding a bit of rhythm and tempo.

Now into the game, as Dela Vega picks it up this near side, the left comes inside, gets dragged initially by Olivera with what's been mentioned about Dela Vega is ability just to drive forward, no fear in going forward and taking players on one v one. As a Tensio steps forward, plays it to Vargas who just wriggles free of boo wonga. Sound is now looking a little sharp, a little quicker at the ball in possession. Jackson tries to roll it across, collects it top right corner of the box. They'll

step over to Christian roll down over the top. Good play by the sounders. There was a step over by Vargas and it was a shot by Christian. Rold on over the top remains LFC two sound. There's one Bret Evans and the first thing I see when the sounders are pushing there is Obed wriggles free and Jackson pushes forward and it's bou wanga and it's the whole attacking line for LAFC sitting up and it's a three v two at any single moment.

The sounder is the first thing if I'm obed, I'm playing the ball and I'm sitting Gotta be careful here with fifteen minutes left, a good effort from Christian Roldn. It goes on frame, yes, great, But the fact that the Sounders are getting some opportunities here right late late in this half, still pockets of space the LFC are founding. This time it's Bouwanga middle of the fields, able to play from center to the far side. The left

campost no real pressure as Vargas slowly goes over should provide some pressure. Sound is holding a line for the back, nice and narrow two yards outside the eighteen yard books is LAFC probe and try to find a space to find that third gold Sound to sit in a low blood masofsky playing alongside Jordan Morris is Dela Vega puts a little bit more pressure on his head. It's been a wide open game as this, both teams giving it everything so far, making

a real showcase for MLS in this opening game of the Western Conference. Full slate of Games Columbus, the MLS champion, already winning against Gonzopenaidas Atlanta won gold to nil. Let's get here. In the seventy eighth minute, LAFC habit flicked around the corner by goalscorer Tillman runs out of bounds. Well sound As fans. Attacking the goal to our left penalty by Dalla Vega on his MLS debuton his Sounders debut, confidently stroke the pat the ball passed World Cup winner Hugo Larisa's that man in the LAFC

goal knocks it out of bounds and Sounder's gonna come again. Cody Baker farst side the right just gives it away cheaply tries to find the ball into Christian roll down good head, a good step by Jackson Reagan cushion headed back to open Vargas by Cody Baker. Sounders just need to find that chance to tie it up. Massovsky alongside Morris now up front. As players start to grind away. It's been a long preseason for the Sounders, little shorter for LAFC.

Maria comes in, hacks at the ball, slices it. Eventually foul by Dela Vega. Given by the referee, it's gonna be a free kick for LAFC. Just what they want to get. Reset. Yeah, that's okay from Dela Vega. You see him pushing new Who out wide. He's gonna come into that pocket. He's demanding the ball right now and we're all excited to see what he brings. And so what you're what you're seeing now at Da la Vega pushing into tight spaces. He really plays off of power,

just like Andy Rose said last night. Is maybe not the best technical player inside tight spaces, but he is going to provide that pacient power in behind and he wants the ball. And that's what you need out of your number ten, because if you have a number ten that doesn't want the ball every single time, right A La Nicol Ladero in twenty sixteen seventeen eighteen nineteen. That's gotta be your guy to get on top of the ball and provide

something special. Those good problems for bron Schmetz to have. He's got. Leo Chu had a breakout season last year playing on the left town inside. De la Vega's position is traditionally in his early career being on the left, but Brian Schmetzer said, hey, he can step in and play in number ten. Don't expect him just to sit on the left hand side. Good challenge by Ariaga. Then the Sounders wriggle free with Christian rolled on. He does, and he's gonna roll it out to Mussovski. The lungs able to

step in reach the game well with all his experience. Step out by Bolwonga, plays the ball into Actawest. Good challenge again by Ariaga. Two good tackles in a row by the Sounders. Cents it back as Della Vega has it, drives forward, passed Sanchez towards the top of the box, plays the ball in and just to Vay's Mussovski. It's a good look by Dela Vega. Rolls over the end line for an LFC goal. Kate remains LAFC. Two Sounders, one bred Evans's two fantastic moves, one from Bwonka on

that side that made Cody Baker look like he's spun like a top. I haven't seen that move in quite some time. A great tackle from Ariaga and then it's a counter attack and de la Vega picks up the ball and that's the speed and power you want. Unfortunately, him and Jordan aren't on the same page just yet. They don't know what each other one wants. But it's the vision there to actually find rolled on possibly on the back post that

we haven't seen in a while. On that pass right, that's a pass that not a lot of players are gonna see in a game, and we just haven't seen that in a while. It's always been let's maintain possession. That slip ball is the one that he provides what as he mentioned, Sounders have made their moves from the bench four changes in Dela Vega, Baker mausofsky LFC still yet still have not made a change. We'll see if fatigue plays a role, if the Sounders can take advantage some tired legs in this first

game of the season. Is Dela Vega comes across nothing given by the referee. Sounders have it with Vargash shoving the back by Bogu shots as much crowd as frustration and anything else. Yeah, that'll be fine for the sounders. You like the intensity. De la Vega's brought in a little bit of bite now and you've seen it translate to other guys on the field, and that's

what you want. Look isolating on this left hand side, if the sounders can find him his key possession, work that ball around and that's where he wants to be isolated. On this far side. Oriaga has it middle of the field, got his head ups looking for options. Come short to new who plays the ball into Dela Vega. That's near sight. The left comes off that left sideline and it's preferred right foot. The sound has now shifted

from left to center to the far side the right. Jackson Reagan stepping forward, plays it out to Christian rolled on overlapping run by Cody Baker, one of the substitutes gets towards the end line. That's a wriggled free of Aaron Long, experienced center back took a look at the sounders a couple of years ago, as he moved from New York. It's gonna be a first change

for LAFC, more of a defensive minded change. As Olivera comes off, and it's gonna be Paalanthia who's gonna come on the field play times right back, left back. See if he slots into that right midfield position. Try and lock down this game for Lafc as a Sounders trying to find that equalizing goal. Here, ball in the head in the hands of Cody, Baker's gonna go long, comes in eventually clear by Lafc off the head of Aaron Long. It's gonna be Ariaga's look comfortable coming off the bench. It's some

really good challenges, she writes forward. As Vargas plucks the ball to Cody, Baker clips the ball in, flick clear by Mario off the jesse of de la Vega. A little bit of magic because he flicks the ball around the corner. Flick by rolled on to Baker, tries to click the ball in comes off the back of Campos. It's already feeling the effects of a long game to Vargas. Just in the shot from the top of the box easily collected by Laris, who falls down tries to burn off a couple of

vital seconds for Alis. So ask yourself, where was this from the Sounders in the first sixty minutes of this game and even in the first half for better parts of it, but maintaining possession. And yes we're in the eighty fifth minute, LAFC is gonna sit back a little bit more. But it's a credit to the substitutes that have come into this game and change it just a little bit. And like you said, Ariagus, come in and put a little bit more pressure. All it takes is one or two tackles that

you win and the rest of the team gets on board with it. It's Pedro de la Vega coming in and providing a little pace and power as well. System refreeze flat goes up. It was a bull down the line that went in and out of play. It's gonna be a Sounder's throat well support. As the Sounders come with Cody Baker giving away top of the box hick from lafc In transition, bog Bush wiggles free crosses the halfway line, got Belonga to his left, collects it comes into the box. Good play by Jackson. Reagan asks for a goalkick. It's not gonna

be that. It's gonna be a corner kick for lafc Here In the eighty six minute Sounders trailing two goals to warn against lafc Here at Beimo Stadium. And whenever this final whistle goes, don't leave us. Jackson Felts and Chance Fry will be in to break it all down. And what a game it's been, back and forth, up and down debuts from players. What a great introduction by Pedro de la Vega, the monk he's signing for the Sounders with a goal from the penalty spot. And now the Sounders have to defend

as they ball comes in whipped in. Well done by one of their debutantes, Andrew Thomas clicks it as it could be a quick throw across the off way line too Jordan Morris, who's gonna close. Hugo Larese down clips it out of bounds and Brad we talked about it will cut winning goalkeeper, but ball at his feet, a little bit of pressure gives it away. Yeah, before the game, we always knew he can make the big saves well

with his feet. Not the most talented keeper, and I think Andrew Thomas today is, you know, like for like matched up just as well. The saves he was supposed to make, he's saved right the first two. There's nothing he can do about him other than organization. Maybe a little bit different, but for the for the better part of this game, both goalkeepers pretty evenly matched. And that's a you know, a great shout to Andrew Thomas today and getting his first start for the Sounders in what a big game.

And like I said said, those two goals, not much he can do about him. And now in five minutes left, encourage the guys, get everything forward and you got to throw everything at the wall this time substitution for Lafc new Man back in the black and gold. At to Wester comes off the field, Gould shift by him and it's Nathan Orndz who's gonna come

on the field. Young player again, another one of those that John Thorrington called out in pre season as a player who can really step up and add says LAFC roster, there's new who has it twenty yards from gold just will step over, comes back to Dela Vega on this left channel. Eleven men behind the ball for l EFC. Now really just bunk it in. Try to defend this lead. Dela Vega has it, clips it towards the far

post. Good slashing run almost finds the foot of Cody Baker. Eventually it's campost It brings it clear, comes to Philly Sanchozho's been calm and composed. In the middle of the part for l EFC, borgoes long. We'll played by Ariaga, brings it air pass and plays it back to Andrew Thomas and the sounders are gonna come again to get here. On the eighty eighth minute,

sounders trailing two goals to one. As the wind picks up, blowing all our notes all over the place, the sounders find that tiny gold bar goes into Jordan Morris into the box right channel. It's able to turn off Mario. There's board to Christian Rolldon clips it in lit nudge by Hollings, that usual experience and knock Delevegor off balance. The sound has picked it up this left channel with a Tenia whips it in towards that far post headed clear

by Aaron Long up into the air, challenged by Vargas. Sounders come again. All eleven players for the Sounders and all eleven players for LAFC in the LAFC half for the field. Sounders have really picked it up in this last thirty minutes as they try to find the equalizing goal. In his home opener, got a poor giveaway by Atencio. Has LAFC come in transition and again

that experience for Mariaga steps in, heals a clip by Tillman. It's gonna be a yellow card for the goal scorer for LAFC, gonna free kick to the sound and soon That's where I got punished against FC Dallas last year too, and at home against LAFC with those poor giveaways in the back. I know legs are tired, but at the end of the game, this is where you have to be mentally strong because those moments can change the game.

You get such good effort in last thirty minutes. Last thing you want to do is give up a late one, because I think we still have an opportunity to get one or two more good chances in this game. Both for LAFC. It's been a long eighteen months or so for the team. They've played an MLS Cups. They didn't CCL finals, fifty three games for them. As the ball goes in, he's an offside, nothing given by the its A referee and he's dragged wide by Boo Wong going Eventually the assistant referees

Fleck does go up. The sounds are gonna put it down on the deck. It's gonna be a free kick. Unders are gonna go again. We're gonna see a little fatigue in the legs of LAFC. Short preseason for them this year, so come off for a really long season in twenty three. Can the Sounders take advantage? Ball goes into Jordan Morris tries to cushion a headed back to Mausofski's been a little quiet since coming off the bench. Ball goes down the line, who lets it roll out of play right in front

of the Sounder's bench. If to get here in the ninetieth minute, we'll see what the extra mild stoppage time is. So the fourth official puts his board up. How much time are the Sounders gonna have to find that equalizing goal? And Brad, you gotta think Brus sch Metze, with all the adversity and the players who are missing, gonna be really happy and proud of his team the way they've come back. Yeah, I mean they came back in the last thirty minutes, but I don't think he'll be too excited about

the goals that they gave up. Right, they were avoidable goals. But you're playing against a really good team in LAFC, and they're always gonna create chances no matter how good the team is. So it's a question of how the Sounders respond after this one. Can we get one late? The ball's gotta go direct here. You only got three or four minutes left in this game, so the ball's gotta get swung into the box. Missovski's got to

play under Jordan Morris. The efforts there, yes mentally not fully switch switched on. Here's Musovski takes a strike low to THESS left, eventually comfortable save by the LAFC goalkeeper, but it's better by the Sounders, it's better by massofsky remains two to one. Sounds need to find that equalizing goal to play high press. Whether we lose two to one or four to one. Some ways, it doesn't really match it for the Sounders right now. They gotta

put players forward, they gotta try and find the equalizing goal. As they pick it up in the middle of the field with the Tensio who drives forward left und side, tries to clip it up with his left foot. Just another giveaway by Atensio, say ALFC just takes some valuable seconds off the clock, but the referees board read six minutes, so the Sounders do have some

time to find that opening goal. The Bull goes long flick towards Andrew Thomas, who you have to think if Andrew Thomas really couldn't do much about those goals. It's not a good performance so far. Yeah, nothing more he could have done tonight. Distribution pretty good overall, pretty good. But the

passing today from the Sounders, just in vital moments not there. You have Josh Atensio trying to make a slip pass when really, like we said, just play to feed, just play to feet and I think the sounders might rule this one, But at the end of the day, you have four minutes left. I got no problem with sending a center back up and launching everything forward and just try to get something a knockdown and add someone else into that attack and make it predictable for yourselves too. So at the end of

the day, I'm not sure. Are we gonna play it wide now and look for service? Do the guys know we're gonna play up the middle, But with four minutes left, everyone should be on the same page. One of our center backs is gonna go forward, We're gonna launch it, and we're gonna play for knockdowns and get inside the box and just do anything we can well. Two minutes going to the six, Eddie Sakur is gonna make his way back on the field ACL injury in August of twenty twenty two.

He's gonna come on the field for his first minute in MLS for Possum minus eighteen months. The ball gets shifted all the way from center to fast side the right for the sound as Cody Baker brings it down, whipped in by Christian Roll Donnie Jordan Morris, who goes up well climbed high clips off the Sounders number thirteen head goes over the end. Line's gonna be a goalkick for LAFC. But good delivery, good chance by the Sounders, And that's what

you want is isolate. Isolate those wingers. Make it predictable. And it's a good little slipball back and swung in. It's a good ball. Jordan just gets on the in and out one and just can't get high enough. But well done by the Sounders creating chances at the end of this game. Not throwing in the towel, never say die. Still have a couple of minutes left. Make it predictable like that, the guys are gonna know what's coming. Well. The sounder is traveling. Fans up to our right bin

full voice in a raucous LAFC crowd. We appreciate them coming to support their team. As Bardas tries to wriggle free of Vargas, eventually it gets pulled down. It's gonna be a free kick for LAFC. There's to get hearing about. Just over two minutes left of this game. One of the changes in the off season was on the big board, the clock goes all the way past ninety will clip up to what those added minutes are. So do you approach the ninety fourth minute, LFC have a free kick thirty thirty yards

from goal right of center. Sounds gonna have to defend, But are they gonna find that one final chance to get that equalizing goal? All goes short to Tillman. Score of the opening goal down the line towards Boulonga, cut out well by Cody Baker on this near side of the left just in front of us, clips it down the line headed forward by Della Vega, knocked up in the air, eventually knew who slashed the ball and inadvertently plays it

across the field as Jackson Reagan go down. Refree says it was a tackle, got the ball. Game continues with laf Seed sounders now with Jordan Morris putting a bit of high press. Men in Green need to push up the field, put some pressure on Laris as he knocks it up. Long's new who just trie to us his body to knock off Palencia who slipped into that right hand side or defensive player of course, and olive Ra's Steve tarundelot to shut this game down. Sounders need to find that one final good chance.

Sorriagos look comfortable coming on the field, just eludes Bogush's pressure across the half way line, finds Christian Waldar middle of the field. Just a little soft on that pass it with dela Vega open, but it's new. Who's gonna pick up the loose pieces of the Sounder's gonna have one final chance. Referee puts the whistle to his mouth, look him for the foul. He went down, he grabbed the ball and brand It looked like the referee gave a

handball. I'm not sure what new thinking there. He has it isolated. He's gonna get to the ball. Yeah, it's a little bit of a shove, but he falls on it and handballs it. Now the game will pretty much run itself out as he walks back. But a great opportunity from Christian rolland to slip in de la Bega. Today it's been a matter of those mispasses at the end of the day and not being able to connect that

that final pass. LAFC fans exiting the stadium as the Sounders run this game out for ten seconds left, final seconds of this game, the opening game of the twenty twenty fourth season. Things to build off for the Sounders, but certainly they'll be looking to welcome back their star man in the coming weeks to get prepared for Austin FC next Saturday, the home opener Blumenfield. Come

out and support us to fill that house he did in the playoffs. As della Vega shifts it to Cody Bak as he crossed the halfway line, referee puts the whistle to his mouth, launch it long. Is it gonna be one final chance? Headed up by Jordan Morris, Eddie clear by Segura. Both bounces in thirty yards from goal and there's the final whistle to bring this game, a back and forth game to an end. It was goals by Tillman in the forty fifth minute and Bogush in the fifty fifth minute to put

LAFC two goals up. And it was a goal off the penalty spot from the debutante and the marquee signing for the Sounders, Pedro de la Vega, who rolled it past Louris to put the Sounders back in the game where they couldn't find that equalizing goal. Brad Evans, your final thoughts, Yeah, look I think when this Sounders team is one hundred percent fully healthy, I think we actually come in here and make an impact and get a victory.

So I think we're still yet to see the best of the Sounders and that's obvious, but a lot of work still to be done. I think the back line has to asked a lot of questions of themselves on those two goals. I know it's the start of the season. I know it's Nathan coming in. There's been you know, Alex was out for a couple of weeks.

But the basics are basics. When you're defending in the box, no matter who you are and how you play, a right is do or die inside there, and then finding ways to keep possession and keep extended possession without giving up so many counter attacks and exposing yourself on the defensive end. Away from home. Well, thanks to everyone involved in today's broadcast, Mike here in the stadium, Keeley and Kevin of course, the Sounders legend Brett Evans.

Sounders couldn't get it done today. It's hard fought loss. They'll come back next week and open up there endless season at home with a game against Austin FC. We'll take a short break, Jackson Phelps, Chance Frey will be back to break it all down, but from Bemo Stadium here in La it finishes LAFC two Sounders one. Sounders Fcsucker is brought to you by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Seattle Sounders FC. The Sounders FC Postmat Show starts now well. The twenty twenty four season unfortunately starts off with a loss for your Seattle Sounders, a very very injured Seattle team coming into the opener against LAFC, but it is the host's Los Angeles who pick up the two

to want to win. Seattle's first goal of the year scored on a penalty by Pedro de la Vega. Saw some great things from the Argentine winger who made his first appearance in Rave Green, but unfortunately the Sounders do fall. Jackson Felton chance for I here for just about three minutes here to break this thing quickly down. Chance, let's just get your opening thoughts here on the two to one loss to start the season. You know what, I'm staying

positive about it. You know, we didn't play our best. We had a lot of injuries. We were down in LA and you know, it's only ninety plus minutes into the season and we were right in there and took the loss. You know, let's be honest about it. LAFC had a couple of shots that they could have done a little bit better with, definitely, But you know what, I think we can go away from there feeling positive and looking back on it and going you know, we didn't go down

there. Nobody gave up. They kept playing the whole time, which was really impressive. And Brian got it right on the subs. He brought in some guys and not saying the other guys were playing, you know, horribly or anything, but the game changed when the subs came in, and that was great. Pedro j Levego, we got to spend at least a minute talking about this kid, because we did. He injected this team with his movement, the creativity, the skill, you can see why he's going to

be a massive part of this team, and he really did. In addition to scoring the goal, we'll give this team the opportunity to get a point in this game. Unfortunately, just when we're able to find the second goal. But he looked great, Pedro de le Vega. Yeah, no, he's very impressive seeing him in a real game. Powerful runner, movement off the ball was great. Jordan did a great job of getting in behind the defense, you know, drawing the penalty, and de la Vega stepped up

with lots of confidence against a World Cup winner and slotted it in.
