Quick soft on your home for the Huskies, Cracking the twelfth Man in the NFL Sports Radio ninety three point three kJ r FL. All right, we're back and I'm busy Tuesday night right here on ninety three three KJR FM. Joining us right now on the radio show. I always like having this guy on after a win, Di because he's always in a much better move. Oh yeah, team wins, said playoff. That's right, a two nothing win in Game one over Dallas last night. Here he is the head coach

at your Sounders FC. Brian Schmetzer, Brian, how are you? Man? I'm great? But you really think I'm grumpy when we lose? Yes, you are a grumpy son of a bitch when you lose. I could be. Yeah, maybe you're right, but listen today, I'm I'm very pleased. I'm very happy. Nobody would blame you, by the way, for any of that stuff. You take this stuff seriously. You're emotional.

It means a lot to you. So that's why we love you. But let's first of all, just get some thoughts on last night's win two nothing over Dallas. Great performance by the guys man, professional performance, I would say, because look, it was hard. Look, Dallas, we made two mistakes in the first half. They could have been they could have been up one or two. Nothing. Our guys held it together and scored again timely goals. Timely goals, you know, one right before halftime and then

one just to put the game out of reach. So very proud of the guys. Where does that rank as far as one of your best performances of the season Overallick? Yeah, there were some people talking about that was it the best we've played all year? Not sure. I mean some of the games we've played right the very very beginning, we're good, awesome games, but this one certainly ranks up there. Again, you know, defense with

solid Steph Rye, another shutout, Jordan's scored a great goal. I mean that was that was a really well taken goal, good header, good ball, But I knew who So yeah, pretty impressed. Yeah, you became last night third most wins in MLS playoff history, right behind a guy named Siggie Schmidt for number two. Have you had a chance to kind of reflect on that at all and does that resonate with you at all? Coach? I saw that, I saw that stat Softie, and yeah, I'm certainly

proud of that record. I think I've had some good help along the way. I've had good players, good coaches, But yeah, that is something that that I'm proud of. We've we've worked hard for that. You know, I was kid Tommy Dutre. You know, we we started way back in five with you know, the USL team, or he came on and five with the USL team. I was there in two thousand and two. We've we've been in this for a long time and some of these milestones,

yeah, they're they're they're they're benchmarks for sure. Could you see this performance coming from your offense in practice over the last couple of three weeks, Because you know, fans only get to see the games, you see them day to day, so sometimes the fans are more surprised when you have an offensive explosion more so than you. Could you see these guys gelling? Yeah, I think we could have had a couple more goals, to be honest,

Dick. Trainings have been really good. The guys have been sharp. That's a that's a veteran team, you know. I gotta shout out to the guys that started, but also the guys that are on the bench, even the young guys, they all contribute in training. So for me, yeah, I could sense it. I think they're ready to really put it out there and see where they end up. Well. Brian Schmetzer with us after

a two nil win over Dallas last night in game one. You can get her done on Saturday, obviously, give me your thoughts on kind of how you expect Dallas's strategy to change down all one now at home and what you kind of feel like you might have to do in response to it. Pal. Yeah, I'm not you know, I'm not so sure they're going to change much. I mean, obviously they're going to have to come out to

win. But I thought from the start of the game they came out and that's their highest paid goalscorer had two good looks on the goal, so that coach is probably just ruining the chances that they had. Are they going to come and go all out? You know, does that open them up for a counter tack. It's a three game series. There's been a lot of talk about, you know, tactics in these three game series, so it's

all a little bit new. But we'll see. I'm sure they'll come out on the front foot or try to come out on the front foot anyway, Brian, I'm gonna ask the same question Softy did, except I'm going to focus it on your team. Do you change anything going up one? Nothing? Now, We're going to come out and play like we do. There's not much change in the way I set the team up home or away. We like to press in certain moments. The guys all know the triggers.

We still defend in the mid block. I mean there's away games where you do get pushed back because your opponent is at home and might get some momentum. But we'll try to do the same thing that we do on road games and try and end the series. How about the guys that came off the bench last night, including Nico, give us your thoughts on the reinforcements you had yesterday. Coach changed the game. And you know, I'm a lucky coach to have, you know, Nico Ladero and Raul Ruy Diaz on the

bench and a bunch of other guys on the bench as well. I think this team is, you know, again poised to make a deep run. When you bring players of that caliber off your bench, they're going to change a game and Nico certainly did that. When he jumped on the field, that's when we really started cooking and that ball was moving and our possession was really good. How about new Who's performance on both ends yesterday? Yeah, I said it afterward last night, reflected on it this morning when I was

driving around. He had a really good game. Still still has room to grow. I'll put that marker down, but that certainly was a pretty high benchmark for that kid, and I'm going to hold him to that, dick. That's that's what I'm going to try and do and and try and get him to improve on that performance. I think we're hearing doorbells ringing. By the way. At your house, you get a lot of trick or treaters. What's the what's the plant tonight? You grab the grandkids and go ahead

and get yourself a bucket of candy. Well, we actually bribe all the kids in the neighborhood. We give out full sized candy bars. Oh nice, And we make sure that everybody on our you know, four or five block radius nose, We've got friends that usually want to stop by. You have adult treats as well, Softheast. If you're in the neighborhood. You're certainly welcome to stop buy you What do you fill us in on what kind of adult treats we're talking about here, coach? Well, there's are you

thirsty at all when you're walking in the neighborhood? Very much? So? Well, Safti doesn't. Safti doesn't go trick or treating because he doesn't have kids, But I'm very thirsty. Would that be weird if I went out by myself with your kids? It'd be weird, fifty year old man. But if you're telling me that you're servant, I'm text me your address. We'll be there when the show's over. All right, all right, happy

to happy to host you guys for sure, beautiful. One more thing for you, coach, how much when you get into the playoffs, how much attention do you play to you pay to how much is and what is going on around you in the other series we're gonna watch. I mean, look, it's playoff time now. I obviously watched LAFC and Vancouver closely. I watch the other games. You know, it's exciting playoff playoff action is you

know, step up a little bit. So I'll watch all the games and you know, see what happens, but you know the focus has to be our team and just getting past Dallas and then we'll take who take on Who's never next? Yeah, all right, man, go get him tonight. Enjoy the festivities, good luck on Saturday, and we're talking a week hos coach. All right, thanks Tofty, Thanks you every buddy. Brian Schmetzer with us on the radio show when we come back. Did the Seahawks pay

too much for Leonard Williams. We're gonna find out. Our buddy Paul ye Detaina from New York. He'll join us next on ninety three three kJ R FM
