Living together with kids and grandkids for several years on and off has left us loving the time spent together and realizing life daily is about learning to let go and learning to be grateful for the moments spent together. Are we really facing the empty nest? For how long...could this be forever...? Lessons learned in living one day at a time.
A 60+ year journey through friendships with the "sisters" from MIdway. "We've been educated. We got liberated. And had complicating matters with men. Oh, we've said "I do" And we've signed "I don't" And we've sworn we'd never do that again. Oh, we burned our bras, And we burned our dinners And we burned our candles at both ends. And we've had some children Who look just like the way we did back then. Oh, but we're all grown up now. All grown up, But none of us could tell you quite how." KT Oslin...
Tagging along with my big brothers growing up in a large Catholic neighborhood as one of the only girls amongst brothers and boys playing sports.
Nursing is a job that has many opportunities and variety. In Minnesota it has many variances...for some it is being in a state of the art place like Mayo in Rochester or the U of MN doing research, for others it may be working in chemical dependency at the Hazelden/ Betty Ford Center. Or maybe even inner city at a large city hosptital. For me it was up and down the gravel country roads for 10 years...

Our first camping trip in about two years due to COVID and being at home. Some things like backing the trailer together never change, while some really important things have changed. As our neighbor 1/2 mile up the road said, “ if we want to camp, we can pitch a tent in our back field, it’s way more private than a campground”.
MInnesota nice and Minnesota good-byes take on a different element when it gets hot out there.
Monday Morning Music has become one of the favorite things to do arouund here. Whenever we get together, the grandkids bring their instruments.
It's been a little over a year since starting a weekly podcast. It was just me, my laptop, a cheap Amazon mic in the back room of the house where no one would know what I was doing.
What's it like to wait in line with other Minnesotans? Take a journey with me to the DMV to get license tabs for the camper.
THe CDC has reversed the masking of all of us. Now if you are fully vacinated you can go maskless inside and outside. What will that look like here in MInnesota?
Happy Mother's Day to all moms and to those who stand in the gap for mom's no longer with us.
A tradition that has been alive longer than many of my relatives...cemetery clean up day. Join me, my relatives and about a ton of pine needles on the first Saturday of May.
Minnesota nice is a cultural stereotype applied to the behavior of people from Minnesota implying residents are unusually courteous, reserved, mild-mannered and passive-aggressive. The phrase also implies polite friendliness, an aversion to open confrontation, a tendency toward understatement, a disinclination to make a direct fuss or stand out, apparent emotional restraint, and self-deprecation.

My thoughts on being alone rambling through the empty house for the next two weeks while the family downstairs is on vacation. What it is like to have 3 generations living under one roof.
