Hey everyone, it's Pacific and welcome back. to our penultimate season finale. That's right. We have just two episodes left this season, this week's episode and next week's episode. After that, we will be off for a... about a month or two. Our plan right now is to come back in February with a whole slate of new episodes weekly, of course. And we have some pretty cool ones coming down the line.
Gosh, I think we're recorded out until June right now, which means we're deep in the post-production minds. But all of that coming so very soon, in addition to a new theme song, a new logo and some other cool things I'm excited to show off. as well as maybe, I don't know, like a new miniseries coming in 2025. What? Crazy. Anyways, all of this to say, 2024 has been an incredible and wonderful year.
Thank you for going through the alphabet anthology with us. We'll be back with more alphabet anthology in the future, I'm sure. And yeah, thanks for just making this year. Wonderful and great. I'm sure I'll have more sappy and sentimental things to say on next week's episode, which is. a big one. It's SCP-8000, so stay tuned for that. But right now, right here, today, I have a really cool episode for you. So up next, a quick ad break, and then this week's episode. Enjoy.
The Foundation database is classified. Unauthorized access will result in detainment. Within this archive, you'll find the procedures, descriptions, and accounts of the most notorious anomalies we've encountered to date. Secure. Contain. Item number SCP-3627. Object Class Euclid Special Containment Procedures SCP-3627 is to be contained in a standard non-humanoid holding cell. At site...
The cell is to be equipped with comprehensive sandproofing and kept under constant video surveillance. Unprompted anomalous behavior on the part of SCP-3627 is to be reported to a supervisor of Level 3 clearance or higher. SCP-3627 is a children's music box approximately 23 centimeters by 15 centimeters by 8 centimeters in size. The word ACROBATS is written in capital letters on the front of the object. Below, a pane of glass protects two painted clowns.
connected at the hands to a rotating axle. At the base of SCP-3627, a small compartment can be found with the phrase, Dreamy Jasters, written on it in faded paint. The anomalous properties of SCP-3627 manifest when a human opens the dreamy Jaster's compartment, inserts an object, and then closes it again. Objects inserted by non-human entities do not trigger anomalous phenomena. After an item is placed in the compartment, the clan figures rotate around the central axle.
and a series of chime-like sounds are produced. The exact pattern of these sounds varies depending on the object in the individual. A single iteration of the pattern will generally last between 5 and 15 seconds. and will repeat for four to eight hours. All attempts to open this compartment during this period have failed. Subjects who have experienced the effects of SCP-3627
report vivid and emotionally charged dreams. Although the contents of these dreams vary widely between instances, certain similarities are always present. Dreams invoked by SCP-3627 are always related to the object in its compartment. Sometimes, the object is directly observed by the subject, but in other cases...
The object acts as a symbol of an idea or experience as interpreted by the dreamer. Despite the presence of disturbing content within these dreams, subjects ultimately remember them as positive experiences. and express feeling calm, relaxed, and peaceful upon awakening. The only known permanent effect of SCP-3627 is the subject's loss of prior attachments to the inserted object.
These include attachments to concepts which might be represented by the object. Upon the conclusion of the musical pattern, the object will no longer be present with an SCP-3627's compartment. Whether the objects are destroyed or transported to an unknown location is unknown. A square paper sheet measuring six centimeters on each side and containing a typed message
will be found in the compartment the next time it is opened. Messages are between 6 and 12 lines long, with an alternating rhyme scheme. While generally only produced after the insertion of an object, In the completion of SCP-3627's auditory process, the appearance of a note without the occurrence of these events has been observed on two occasions.
The messages are always directed at the subject who most recently inserted something into the object's compartment or the last person to experience its auditory effects. Generally, Messages provide cryptic analysis and advice regarding the inserted object and related concepts. The notes themselves are non-anomalous. However... The content of the notes indicate that SCP-3627 possesses some degree of sentience. SCP-3627 uses plural pronouns when referring to itself.
suggesting its effects result from collaboration between multiple entities of an unknown nature. SCP-3627 occasionally references its SCP status and its current location within its containment facility. It also possesses knowledge of other SCPs and the Foundation's general activities. How the anomaly gained this knowledge and the level of its penetration into the Foundation are unknown.
No company or manufacturing labels are present on SCP-3627 and attempts to identify the object's origins have been unsuccessful. Discovery SCP-3627 was discovered by a Foundation agent during a routine thrift shop sweep in Montana. Upon inspection, SCP-3627 produced the following note. No objects were inserted prior to the production of this message and no auditory phenomena were observed. Hello, Agent.
It seems that you have found an object that is worth being secured, contained, and yes, protected for its sound. A wondrous tune that you have not yet heard. Just place a gift into our waiting grasp. A memory that haunts your waking mind. And in return we shall relax the clasp that keeps it with your soul. So intertwined your line of work is filled with those who need. The closure and the peace that we bestow.
Bring those that are desiring this deed. We'll ease the pain and help them to let go. Upon realizing the note contained obvious allusions to the Foundation, The agent acquired the object and delivered it to containment personnel. Addendum 3627.1 Experiment Logs The following experiments detail the effects of SCP-3627 on certain individuals upon the insertion of certain objects. Information pertaining to the psychological and personal history of the subjects has been included.
as it is believed to be pertinent to the effects of SCP-3627. inserted their dead husband's wedding ring. D-2213's spouse died in an automobile accident four months prior to Foundation recruitment. Psychiatric testing revealed severe emotional trauma. Begin log. I was dreaming of my wedding day. Oh, it was just like I remembered it.
Colored streamers, dandelion seeds spinning through the air as we read our vows. David, that's my husband, standing there smiling at me with his mouth full of rotting teeth. lips falling off and a worm squeezing its way out of his nose. He was so handsome, standing there in his grave clothes. flecks of dirt clinging to his shoulders there was this malodorous green bile oozing from the ruin of his mouth and then
When the celebrant said we could kiss, I couldn't help but drink and swallow it. It made me feel warm and comforted. And I tried to find David afterwards, but he was nowhere to be found. I woke up after slicing into the cake. Hey everyone, Pacific here with a quick ad break and a reminder. There's also a link to our Patreon in the show notes below. And now, a quick message from our sponsors. Alright, thanks so much for listening. And now, back to the episode. Upon awakening, the subject was unbothered by the disappearance of her wedding ring. In subsequent psych evaluations... D-2213 expressed strong feelings of closure regarding the death of their husband. Long-term psychiatric analysis confirmed a notable improvement in the subject's mental health.
The note produced by SCP-3627 follows. No pain is like the bondage of two souls detached by cruel and unforgiving fate. But true pain is when one's own grief controls the life that still remains under its weight. We cannot say for sure if you will meet again upon a distant rising dawn, but if your memories are still complete, your lover's soul is never truly gone. Experiment 3627B. D4256 inserted a standard number 2 pencil. The subject enjoys drawing as a recreational hobby. Begin log.
I was in the basement of my childhood home. A windowless brick room lit by a single incandescent bulb. There was an old table surrounded by rickety old chairs, and I sat there. frantically scribbling on dozens of sheets of paper and then taping them to the nearby wall. When I'd finished, the scribblings formed the shape of a strange figure. It emerged from the surface of the paper and stopped to look at me. Hell, it was me. A perfect facsimile, but with the jawline I've always wanted.
Um, he beat the living shit out of me. Just slammed me into the wall where I'd hung the paper. Over and over. He slammed me into the brick again and again. I thought my head was going to split open like a melon, but then I realized that I was getting flat. No, flat, not fat. squeezed me down until I was two-dimensional. Just a drawing on a paper, like he had been. The copy walked through a door I hadn't noticed and stood in the street outside.
Beyond the door, I could see my old neighborhood. The grass was growing much faster than it should have been, and the sun whipped around in the sky like the whole world was on fast forward. the houses started to fall apart. Roofs caved in, pavement cracked, and vines reached up to pull down the walls of my neighbor's houses. Soon my house fell apart around me, except...
I was still there, trapped in the paper on the wall. The whole time, the figure just stood there watching me, rigid and unchanging as the world crumbled around him. Finally, there was a bright flash behind my doppelganger. It was brighter than anything I'd ever seen before. A dark cloud rose up behind him, blocking out the sun.
A raging cloud tore across the land, sweeping the last ruins of the neighborhood away like... like crumbs off a tabletop. Ah, sorry. He just... disintegrated like melted almost and blew away in these little droplets more or less the last thing i remember is the smell of burning paper End log. Upon awakening, the subject showed little interest in drawing. Subject displays no displeasure towards drawing and was able to draw upon instruction with the same level of skill as before, but stated,
I just don't feel any desire to do it anymore. To date, the subject still has not partaken in drawing or any other visual artistic medium without being instructed to do so. The note produced by SCP-3627 follows. The one and only noble goal of man. to leave one's mark forever on the earth, is strived for through whatever means one can create a piece of true artistic worth.
Alas, the subtle marks upon one's soul cannot be cloned by any mortal hands. A life is better lived when short and whole than stretched across the ever-shifting sands. Experiment 3627C. With intent to observe the destination of objects inserted into SCP-3627, the lead researcher, Dr. Vargas,
prepared a mini audio video recording device remotely connected to a viewing monitor. Dr. Vargas performed the item insertion himself in order to gain a better understanding of the dreaming process. Begin log. I was on site in a hallway located in a Foundation containment facility, similar to site. The corridor was lined with containment cells. I specifically remember seeing... and...
Despite them being stored in different facilities, suddenly I felt overwhelmed by dread and sprinted down the corridors looking for an exit. But the building's layout didn't make any sense. It was like I was running through a shifting maze. When I finally found an exit, I ran for most of a kilometer before regaining enough of my composure to have a look back. The facility I saw...
was several hundred times larger than any foundation site of which I'm aware. And, uh, it was shaped like a human heart. The outside was lined with thousands of containment cells, and I knew there was something awful in every one of them. The facility began to beat at regular intervals, sending tremors through the surrounding area. The tremors increased in magnitude until the world was falling apart around me. The earth broke and I fell tumbling into a black swirling void.
That's when I woke up. Upon awakening, Dr. Vargas destroyed all video footage received from the inserted recording device, stating that some things are better left unexplained. The subject later submitted a formal resignation and was administered amnestics before release. The note produced by SCP-3627 follows. The human's sense of curiosity is what puts them above the animals. But there are things that man should not see that can't be kept within a foundation of walls.
The tortured minds of ancient horrors shriek. Their cores can shred the earth and tear the skies. If their secrets you do persist to seek, then you're seeking your very own demise. Addendum 3627.3. Incident Report. 87 days after experimentation on SCP-3627 was discontinued, SCP-3627 produced a pattern of tones without the prior insertion of an object. These tones could be heard outside of SCP-3627's holding cell.
and caused two D-class personnel to fall unconscious. This was the first instance of SCP-3627 invoking REM sleep in multiple individuals at once. The pattern of tones was repeated for 2 minutes and 34 seconds, a notably shorter duration than those previously observed. Upon the conclusion of the pattern, Both subjects awoke and immediately attempted to access the holding cell containing SCP-3627, first by attempting to guess the access code, then by repeatedly ramming into the cell.
Their activity was detected by the on-site security system, and armed Foundation personnel were dispatched to the area. Both subjects were successfully restrained before causing a containment breach. SCP-3627's containment procedures have been updated accordingly. The following note was fanned within SCP-3627 shortly after the incident. We revealed ourselves to you so that you would take us in. We did this because we knew you had no short supply of sin. We thought we'd help you to let go.
To ease the guilt and help you heal. But we were fools for now we know you have no guilt that you could feel. You really think you're doing good with all that you collect. But then again, of course you would. Secure. Contain. Protect. Further experimentation on SCP-3627 has been discontinued indefinitely. This episode was brought to you by our patrons.
