It's November and Thanksgiving will be here before we know it. So today we're kicking off a month long I'm thankful series here on the podcast, starting with exploring our thankfulness around social media for our businesses.

So teacher authors, go ahead and reheat that cup of coffee because I'm your host, Kassaundra Foster, and we're about to get Schooled in Socials.

Welcome back to Schooled in Socials. Happy November. If you're listening to this episode when it first airs, I can't believe that there are only two more months left in 2024 and we've been getting Schooled in Socials together for over a year and a half now. This time of year, there is no doubt that we're going to see people posting about what they're thankful for all over social media. So why not bring that to the podcast and chat about why I'm feeling thankful for social media and why you might be too.

As a social media strategist, I am so lucky to get to be behind the scenes in so many wonderful teacherpreneurs businesses, and see firsthand how social media is helping them grow. So I'm thankful for all the wins teacher sellers are having out there when using social media to market their businesses. Marketing on socials isn't always easy, but TPT Teachers are out there rocking it. Just off the top of my head, I am so thankful for my Instagram client whose DMs are a full day event for me to work through when I do engagement. Opening their meta business suite and seeing that hundreds of people are loving their content and resources and want to connect with them is a highlight of my day. I'm so thankful for several Facebook clients whose members cannot stop asking for links to their helpful resources. Again, popping into their group and seeing a post with 200 plus comments of teachers who really need their resources makes my day. I'm also so thankful for the Facebook client whose social channels regularly show up in the top five traffic sources for their TPT store and the Instagram client who has brought in over 700 leads from one specific lead magnet that we featured on their page. These wins are massive and make such a difference in their businesses, and I'm so thankful for them.

Now, if you asked me, beyond those amazing wins I get to see why I'm truly, truly thankful for social media, it's the connections. Connections are the reason I was drawn to social media in the first place. Remember my journey in social media started during covid lockdown with a little toddler food page I used to connect with other moms. If you haven't heard that whole story, I tell it in episode one. And so getting to work exclusively in social media now and meeting people and making those connections, it feels amazing. I'm sure you probably feel the same way to some extent, because as humans, we're all craving those connections. And when you engage with others, when you start conversations, you can build some of the deepest friendships in this amazing space. You can get support, and you can be support, and that is such a beautiful thing. I'm sure, as you're listening, you can think of at least one person in your life that you would have never met or gotten to know if it hadn't been for social media. I know I can, and honestly, I don't know what I would do without those people. They support me in my business and in life, and even though we live hundreds and even 1000s of miles away from each other, we still get to have this amazing connection. And I'm beyond thankful for all the connections I've made with you, my listeners and fellow teacherpreneurs. You might think when I respond to a story or hit a like button on your post or send you a quick DM that I'm just being friendly, but I hope you know how truly amazing you are. I see you showing up and serving teachers even when it isn't easy. I see you putting yourself out there and taking a leap of faith with your new resources, courses, memberships. I see your passion for your teaching niche, and your drive to make sure that teachers get the resources they need, those resources that maybe you never had. And I'm so thankful I get to watch all of that unfold each and every day.

So when it comes down to it, I believe there is so much to be thankful for when it comes to social media, even if it does drive us crazy every now and then.

Kassaundra 4:36

So let's spread that love and thankfulness. Who do you look up to on social media who is crushing it right now? Give them a shout out in our Facebook group. I know they would be over the moon to hear it. And you know, I'm always seeking to connect with all of you, so I've come up with a fun little series that you will see each Friday on my Instagram page for about the next year. Each Friday, I feature a different state and invite fellow TPT years to check in so that they can connect with each other. So go take a peek and see if your state has come up yet, and make sure to share with your teacher besties to help connect more TPT years together before we roll into 2025.

All right, cold coffee friends. Thanks so much for listening. If you're loving getting Schooled in Socials, make sure to subscribe so you don't miss an episode. Also, I would love it if you left a review, so that other teacher authors like you can start getting Schooled in Socials too. All right, I'll see you in the next episode.
