We're moving right along with our series on repurposing. And today is all about how to actually make repurposing your long form content or reality for your business. So teacher authors, go ahead and reheat that cup of coffee, because I'm your host Cassandra Foster, and we're about to get schooled in socials. Welcome back to school and socials. This month, we have been diving headfirst into repurposing long form content for social media. And we've reached episode three in this series. If you haven't had a chance to listen to the first and second episode, I highly recommend going back to give them a listen, because they're going to make your repurposing journey easier. And this episode more relevant for you. Now today is about making repurposing happen. It's all well and good to say you're going to repurpose your long form content. But what does that actually look like? Well, first, you need to choose a repurposing path. When I say that I feel like some sort of like, I don't know wizard laying out the options for a hero on some epic adventure. But it's true. There are many ways to tackle repurposing, and you have to choose one and stick with it for a little bit to complete your quest, or at least enjoy your journey. Because let's face it, marketing is kind of never ending. So what repurposing path you choose really depends on two things. One, if you already create a form of long form content or not, and to your personal preference. So option one is you go back and you do a little dance kind of between past content and present content. And option two, you move forward. Okay, option one, you go back, and a little forward. And here's what I mean by that. If you have been creating long form content for a bit, but haven't been fully taking advantage of it by repurposing, you can go back and repurpose that past content. Now, if you don't have a form of long form content yet, you don't have to worry about making a choice, because option number two is going to be your choice. And we'll get to that in just a minute. Okay, back to option one. Going back to past content can be great because you can take full advantage of things you've already done, and you've already written or recorded. But it will require you to kind of list out the content you have at your disposal. Think about grouping them into similar topics, and creating content for social media. That's kind of a mix of what I call throwback content. So that older content we just talked about, and your newer content. So you kind of have a foot in each world, the past and the present. The advantages of this are that you are finally fully taking advantage of that long form content you've created. And you get to drive some more traffic there, which might not have gotten there before if you haven't hadn't shared it on your social media. The disadvantages are, it can require a little more work and strategic thinking to make that past content and the present content to fit together. But here's the thing, you worked really hard on all that content. And if you want to use it, you definitely should option to you move forward and start your repurposing journey using new pieces of long form content that you're creating. As a social media manager, this is my personal preference. But again, if you already have past content, you've worked hard on that content. So do not let me sway you from option number one, it is completely valid. So what option number two looks like is pulling bits and pieces that could work as social media content as you draft and create your long form content, and then lining up the posting of the long form content with the posting of that social media content. So they're kind of going up around the same time. And people can see that one topic across your marketing platforms. The advantages of this are it can be less time consuming. And your community again, will be hearing those similar messages across your marketing channels at the same time, which from Episode 22, we know this is a good thing. The disadvantages are if you already had long form content, you aren't fully taking advantage of what you already created. And I know that can be hard for some people to let go of. So truly each of these paths is a matter of preference. If you're someone who already creates long form content, and nothing says you have to stick with one path forever. You can start out with option one and see how it goes analyze your data to see if it's worth your time and then decide to keep with it or to go with option two where you just move forward. There is so much pressure this time of the year to buy more stuff from Black Friday sales to Christmas ads, but I don't want you to buy more stuff. I want you to get the right things you need to uplevel your business and Next season. So that's why I've opened up my mini Social Media Console scheduled for the next three months. So that we can make resources that are going to get stuck in your downloads and courses that are going to go immediately to your desktop graveyard, like thing of the past. Instead, you're going to get my brain and your business for a focus 30 minutes, so that you can make sure you have a solid plan moving forward. And you know, your social media will help you reach your business goals. This is not a one size fits all solution. Instead, you're going to get targeted advice that is focused on you and your business. And for Black Friday. And until these spots sell out, you're going to be able to get it for $47, which is the lowest price point these mini consults have ever been. We're talking transformational advice that will make your social media work harder for you. For less than a night out. This isn't stuff, it's the thing, you need to get clarity and move forward with your social media marketing, you can grab your discounted spot right now in the show notes. But hurry, because once these spots that I've opened up for the next three months are gone, this price point will be gone too. I can't wait to make 2020 for the year that your social media marketing helps you reach all of your big business goals.

It truly is up to you. So hopefully by now you have in your head what repurposing path you're going to take. And it's time to get down to the nitty gritty, what does it look like on social media. So I'm going to share with you some examples schedules that you can either kind of take them and use them or tweak them and make them your own. But you'll have a starting point for each week as you start repurposing your long form content. All right, if you're moving forward, and you create one piece of long form content a week, your schedule could look something like this. Monday, you have a promotional graphic letting people know there's a new blog, podcast episode or YouTube video. So just to clarify, in this scenario, this made up piece of long form content would come out on Monday, but yours might come out on Tuesday or Wednesday or Thursday or Friday, wherever it comes out, you can kind of tweak that, then Tuesday, you could do a carousel post using information from that content. Wednesday, you could create a static post using info from that content Thursday, you could create a real using info from that content. And then Friday, you could do a promotional post that promotes a resource that you mentioned in that blog, podcast episode or a YouTube video. So with this schedule, you kind of covered all the forms of content to hopefully reach the majority of your community members. You've let people know there's a piece of long form content waiting for them. But then you also provide them some info, if their preference is to learn from short form content. And you've promoted a resource. So it kind of covers all of your bases here. Again, this can be tweaked because maybe you don't want to post five days a week. Or maybe you want to post more. Or maybe your followers really engaged with your reels more than anything else. So you create more reels. Instead, just follow your data and your capacity. And if that feels too hard, just steal the schedule and try it out. Now, if you're going with the throwback content method, as I like to call it, here's an example schedule that could help get you started. Monday, you're still going to do a promotional graphic for that new piece of content, Tuesday, a carousel post for that new piece of content Wednesday or real for that new piece of content. And then Thursday, you would share some sort of related throwback content. And Friday, you could either promote a resource or give another piece of related throwback content. The biggest thing here is to try to include throwback content that relates to your new piece of content. So we can kind of take our community members on a little journey. Again, this can be tweaked to completely fit your needs, whether you want to post last you want to post more whether you only want to post one piece of throwback content versus two where maybe you want to post more throwback content because your new piece of content is a little shorter. You can tweak it for you. But if it's overwhelming, steal this and try it out. Alright, step number one of making repurposing happening is choosing what repurposing path you will take. Step two is deciding on a social media schedule that works for you and covers a variety of content types. And step three is to actually go out there and make that content. And since the wizard and those epic hero journeys gets to see what Path to hero chooses. I would love to hear what repurposing path you're going to try. So send me a quick DM over on Instagram to let me know. Alright, cool coffee friends. Thanks so much for listening.
