I get calls from spammers and scammers (just like everyone else), but (unlike most) I answer them and talk for as long as I can. I figure if they're busy trying to dupe me they're not duping somebody else. I also find the practice despicable so wasting their time gives me some personal satisfaction.
I get more calls from people I don't know than from those that I do, granted I have fewer friends than I do opposable thumbs, but still, it's annoying when it's just spam calls, and angrying when it's a scammer - not because they could scam me, but because they are succeeding with other people, usually elderly people, whom hold a special place in my heart.
We all get those calls from numbers that we shouldn't get calls from; usually they're trying to sign me up for a credit card or loan, other times they tell me there's an IRS issue or that I have a computer virus. Microsoft, Google, Dell, HP, Apple... whoever - they don't call individuals about viruses. Don't let these people on to your computer. If someone with the FBI, IRS, or other government agency calls you should call that agency's main number and verify them.
So, stop it, don't just stop calling me, stop trying to swindle anyone. Until then, I'll answer the call... and record it, and broadcast it!

I don't own an iPhone, but apparently somebody from Apple wants me to call them back on not an Apple phone line to get support for the devices that they don't want me to use until I talk to them.
I got a message saying I need a refund for a tech support package because the company is closing, and it looks like I was too late... https://thetalkinggeek.com https://www.podbean.com/thetalkinggeek
This scammer called me back when we got disconnected! He is not related to any famous Cooper, he is located in both Seattle and Florida, and he knows what I ate for lunch. He. Is. David. Cooper. https://thetalkinggeek.com https://www.podbean.com/thetalkinggeek
This dude trying to bilk me called me back and left me a voicemail. Apparently, I'm better at this than I thought. Let's waste his time! https://thetalkinggeek.com https://www.podbean.com/thetalkinggeek
This nice gentleman I'm speaking to simply wants to refund me money, that I didn't pay, for support that I never received, from Microsoft, whom he doesn't work for - all I have to do is give him remote access to my computer. What a nice guy! https://thetalkinggeek.com https://www.podbean.com/thetalkinggeek
I ramble a little at the end, but before that you might find entertaining the fact that somebody pretending to be Charles Xavier, head of the X-Men, is calling about whether or not I would like to continue my "protection subscription" with Microsoft Windows. When he realizes he won't be scamming me he hangs up, but I call back a couple times and he answers. He tries explaining to me that "this call isn't for [me]", and I try explaining that Cyclops, Jean, & Wolverine are worried about him. H...
I called the "claim and fraud" department of the fake IRS a few times, then they hung up on me when I wasn't the mark that they wanted, and then they had the audacity to block my number - as if I'm a nuisance TO THEM! Which, I guess I technically am...
I got another scam call, but when I called back a Good Samaritan had hacked the line and was redirecting the calls to a recorded message warning people and giving a short political message.
Ever gotten a message that the IRS is going g to issue a warrant for your arrest because you filled wrong? Those are fake. I call them back and waste their time.
