Text: Luke 4:14-21 When God sends us through Jesus empowered by the Holy Spirit, we go with authority and expectation. On this matter there is only two options - obedience or disobedience.

Mark 8:27-9:1 (CSB) Confessing Jesus as the Messiah means denying yourself, taking up your cross and following Him. It means embracing the paradox that losers are keepers. It brings eternal reward to one’s soul! We are called to confess Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God, the kings of Kings. The One who takes away my sin and your sin and gives us eternal life. Will you accept this great gift?
Mark 8:1-26 (ESV) Description: Is your hard heart cut off or is it perhaps softening? Are your circumstances causing you to harden your heart to who Jesus is or are you seeing in part now and clinging to the fact that one day you will see fully?
Mark 7: 24-37 (ESV) In our passage to day, we learn that faith consists of desperation, persistence and humility, and also as we come to Jesus, He meets us individually, empathically and redemptively. He does all things well.
Mark 7:1-23 (ESV) In today’s passage we see Jesus once again challenged by the Pharisees and scribes regarding the purification laws. Through this encounter we learn more about what exactly it is that Jesus came to do. We have seen that He is the promised King Messiah, but today we also see that He comes to fix which is unfixable - our broken hearts.
Mark 6:45-56 (CSB) Our passage today we find the disciples right in the middle of a storm, maybe that’s where you are so maybe you can relate, but if you are not in one, hang on, it's coming. This is not to scare you but rather to prepare you. We can trust God in the midst of our storms.
Mark 6:7-44 (ESV) We often think about the miracles of Jesus simply as a way for Jesus to show up and out. But as we kick off Season Two in the Gospel of Mark we will see that there is always more going on. Jesus is revealing Himself as the true revolutionary and the true King! This sermon is preached by Arnaldo Santiago Jr. from Anchor Church in Sydney Australia.
Chapter 3 is Habakkuk's prayer of praise in the form of a poetic song. He had been given the vision from God concerning the end; he had heard the Lord's response to his questions and concerns. Now he can only but stand back in awe and in reverence of the One who will act on behalf of His people. Habakkuk's prayer and song in this chapter is one that encompasses the past, yet stretches forth thousands of years and reveals details of the Lord's coming in glory to defeat all His enemies at the end ...
We jump into part two of our panel discussion. There is so much to learn in a three chapter Old Testament book. We have a deeper discussion about Habakkuk, how it fits in the full breath of Scripture and what that means for us today.
There is so much to learn in a three chapter Old Testament book. We have a deeper discussion about Habakkuk, how it fits in the full breath of Scripture and what that means for us today.
The biggest question in Habakkuk's prayers and laments is: "Is God good, when there is so much evil in the world?". The vision of Habakkuk in this portion of scripture is God's answer to this question. God doesn't only answer the prophet, He describes to the prophet how he should live in this in-between time in chapter 2:4 and 2:20; between the promise and the fulfillment. This brings us a great deal of comfort, as we also live in between the resurrection and the redemption of all things.
Habakkuk 1:1-4 Habakkuk teaches us that we can look back on the Lord’s past faithfulness to trust Him with our present and future realities, even when what God is doing, doesn’t always make sense.
Mark 6:1-6 (CSB) If we want to please God, to know His pleasure and power, we must believe that the God revealed in the Old and New Testaments exists and that He acts equitably and justly on behalf of His children. Do you believe this? Christ was amazed by great faith as well as the lack of it. What about us amazes Him? Which one are you in? Great Faith or Lack of Faith?
Mark 5:21-43 (CSB) Mark reveals to us that God through Jesus will make us whole. That in Christ we are healed of our uncleanness and that the Holy Spirit gives us faith to trust and believe
Mark 5:1-20 (ESV) Jesus’ awe-inspiring power and authority clearly means that He is the real deal, but merely recognizing this fact isn’t enough. In this text we will see three different reactions to Jesus’ authority and from there we learn what that means for us today who submit to Jesus’ authority. Not only should our submission lead to reverent worship of this God-Man, but also a change in how we orient our hearts and lives.
Mark 4: 35-41 (ESV) The story of Jesus calming the storm helps us to answer three significant questions. Who is Jesus? Does He care about our troubles? Can we trust Him?
Mark 4:1-34 (CSB) If you are a child of God, the Gospel dwells in you, it grows in you and it will produce much fruit in and through you.
Mark 3:20-30 The Holy Spirit is our Counsellor. He is given to the world to convict us about sin, righteous and judgement. Do not reject Him, for He points us to Jesus, who reconciles us to the Father, who loves us more than we could ever imagine.
Mark 3:7-19 and Mark 3:31-33 (CSB) You can be drawn to the power of Jesus and not necessarily get the person of Jesus. It’s easy to make this mistake and fall into this trap because when you get the person of Jesus, you also get His power, but it’s very possible to experience the power of Jesus and completely miss the person of Jesus. The call to repentance and faith is to come to Christ ... for Christ.
Mark 2:18-3:6 Jesus is calling everyone to take a different road, His road, and He promises through the Gospel that this road will make all the difference. The difference between satisfaction and discontentment, joy and agony, purpose and irrelevance, life and death.
Mark 1:35-2:17 What does it look like when Isaiah 40 comes true? What does it look like when God comes and sorts out the brokenness of this world? The Gospel writer, Mark, is unrelenting in answering these questions; story after story in the first part of Mark. He slows down the story in Chapter 2:1 and spends some time to tell one of the most beautiful stories yet in the gospel! Brilliantly crafted, it will blow your mind and introduce you to one of Jesus's main struggles of His earthly ministr...
Ready, and action! After Jesus's announcement that the Kingdom of God is near, He jumps right into His public ministry and starts showing the people what this Kingdom looks like. What we'll see is that "the people" include: His first followers, people of Israel (the Jews) and people from the City, not previously part of God's covenant people. EVERYONE has an opportunity to see and experience the Kingdom, and in this portion of scripture all of this happens in one day... now that is urgency! Fast...
EPIC movie —-> EPIC trailer! In this teaching we (yes, another tag team effort) explore the Gospel of Mark's introduction to Jesus and His basic message and mission. We discover that announcing the arrival of God's kingdom was Jesus' greatest priority. What did that mean? Why was that important to him? Go on, give it a listen. It’ll have a different feel than a normal Sunday sermon, but it’s fresh!
The Resurrection of Jesus changed everything. The explosive power of the Resurrection has so many implications for our lives, for today and for the life to come.
In Christ – we are of indescribable worth. We are His masterpiece - His work of art, created for goods to do them for His Glory and for our joy.
In moments of chaos and uncertainty, we can sometimes believe the lie that God has abandoned us, that He either doesn’t love us or that He is not in control. This couldn’t be the furthest thing from the truth. We are loved more than we can ever imagine and God is still fully in control.
We live in an world that requires us to make tons of decisions, from the small mundane ones to the big and exciting ones. The reality is that, it’s not always easy to know what to do, where to go or who to choose. We don’t like uncertainty, it can sometimes paralyse us or cause us to act abruptly and out of character. God does not leave us in this state. He meets us in our worry and anxiety. He provides for us, He leads and guides us, both as individuals and as a community.
