It is with great pleasure this week we welcome Steve Raskin and Jason 'Qdup' Brown to the RIPEcast for this special throwback mix. I'll let Qdup set the table... "When Deckard reached out to us about doing a new mix for The Ripecast, he asked if we would think about doing a Jon H dedication mix. Since we’ve already seen a few Fort Knox Five themed tribute sets by various DJ’s released, we thought it would be fun to pull some older tracks that influenced our sound. As you may or may not know, in ...

One of the longest active members of the Cowboy clan, DJ Brad Robinson has been a standout in the group for years. If you’ve seen him play a Space Cowboy party any time in the last 10 years, you’ve probably also seen a whole squadron of cute girls getting freaky in front of the decks, while this tall, skinny guy rocks out behind them. Brad’s known for bringing that old school flavor of house: big, funky, and fun. This mixography is a comprehensive collection of live sets and studio recordings th...

In honor of Burning Man we're going to make this a throwback mix week. Starting with this mix from Deckard circa 2009 and throughout the week we'll post up some of our favorite mixes from past Burns. A short note about this mix from Deckard: 2009 was only my 3rd Burning Man and my first playing for the Space Cowboys at the Hoedown. One of my favorite moments was looking out from the Mog and seeing my new campmates standing on the back of Martha all rocking out. I knew that moment Space Cowboys w...

On Aug. 7 DJs ShOOey, Brad Robinson and Deckard woke up at the crack of dawn to help 600 ethusiastic (and sober!) people get their day started with yoga, the sunrise and beautiful views of the Bay. Oh yeah and a couple hours of house music. This set was recorded live so please excuse any blips, bleeps or mild interruptions.

This week we want to honor someone who recently passed away and brought so many smiles and so much joy to people's lives - Jon H of Fort Knox Five. The Space Cowboys have been honored to have Jon be part of our family and us a part of his. Thank you Jon for your legacy of music and everything you brought to our speakers, our parties and our lives. Keep it funky bother. This set was recorded live on the Unimog at Burning Man 2007.

It’s burning man fundraiser time, and Jenny’s 40th birthday party to boot. Cowboys ponied up to contribute a portion of the proceeds to the Flux Foundation and the Temple of Promise. And I was lucky enough to get asked to play. I was opening up on the main stage, which has a Funktion One sound system, which tickled my urge to play some bass music. Being the opener I started it off slow, and rampped it up for a handoff to Shizzy and Kirk. The party was off the chain. shOOey did it right for shOOn...

Our good friends at Distrikt blew it out again at the 16th St. Station in Oakland and I had the good pleasure to throw down on the FnF stage. A big thank you to Ethan for extending the invite and FnF for providing a killer place to play. It's been awhile since I've played big room breaks, electro and dirty house for a whole set. I had a blast and hope you enjoy. For more of this check out ShOOnanigans this Friday 7/24 at Public Works - https://www.facebook.com/events/1576134579310670/ Deckard FB...

In celebration of my birthday and my 12th year of DJ'ing, I bring you my newest studio mix "Twelve". If you heard me when I first started DJ'ing in San Francisco, I was playing progressive house. My music tastes have changed over the years but my passion and love for DJ'ing has not. Looking out on the dance floor, I am consistently reminded how much happiness music brings to people. Thanks for all your support over the years! You can find me on the decks in San Francisco on Friday 7/24 at Public...

Going back to 2006 for this throwback mix. My draw dropped at WMC that year hearing the fat basslines taking what was previously being termed progressive/progressive house in a harder hitting direction. This mix helped put me on the map and introduce me to the San Francisco scene where I handed out CD copies to everybody I could. I still love this sound and these tunes hold up pretty well I think. Enjoy!

There's a new wave of chopped, stretched, bass soaked remixes coming out -- twists on old icon's old classics by new house producers that feature just enough of the original to make me smile, but enough new production to feel fresh. This mix = a bunch of that, plus some other stuff that I found hanging out on my hard drive the week before last, when Space Cowboys dropped by The New Parish for a party we called Oakland Proper. Enjoy! 8b

I had the honor of playing at Hushconcerts' BottleRock Silent Disco stage in May 2015... my first festival! I've been playing breaks pretty consistently for the past few years but I took a lovely day in Napa as an opportunity to play a warm and energetic house set. I didn't know what to expect from the crowd since Bottlerock is a live music event but the dancefloor was packed all day and they were receptive to all of the DJ's music! Silent disco is definitely a unique experience to dance to *and...

The My Definition of Chill series, which has always been the purest public expression of my taste in music, has exceeded all expectations I ever had for it. What began as a playlist of songs I liked to listen to at the end of the night has evolved into a soundtrack of my life. The reaction from those who have let me know how this series has been a part of their lives has touched me deeply and I appreciate every story and word of thanks I have received.
