Breakfast of Champions is my favorite yearly reunion. I see so many new and old friends, and the vibe is so great, that the music often has to take a back seat to hugs and buying drinks for old buddies. Of course once those drinks have been had and 'hello's been said, the music at BoC is the best in the city. Traveling to DJ over new years in Brazil was an amazing experience. Missing Breakfast of Champions and not being around my close loved ones was not the easiest call to make. I'm so thankful to have met so many very fun and awesome people even though I could barely speak a word of Portuguese. As a Brooklyn-based breaks DJ and producer of Vitamin B, NYC’s longest-running (and also only) breaks party, I always viewed Breakfast of Champions as the great white buffalo of parties. I have had the opportunity to play at BOC many times, but never before had I been given the chance to open the party at 6 am. It was a unique feeling to start playing a completely empty room, but within minutes I watched as people literally came running into the main room and immediately started dancing. Once again, Breakfast of Champions delivered as my favorite party of the year, and 2015 has only just begun! I was honored to play one of the closing slots in the outdoor tents. So great to be back at Breakfast of Champions this year and playing in the morning which, to me, is just the perfect time for one of my favorite flavors of breaks - pretty, and really dirty. This year was the 15th anniversary of Breakfast of Champions. I've been to nearly every one and each time I walk away saying, "That was the best yet!" Lately, I have really been enjoying the more loungy, chill, groovy side of music. The kind of songs which are perfect for hanging with friends, drinking wine by the fire, and just nodding your head to a groovy vibe.
