Episode description

It might seem pretty obvious to think about the difference between supporting someone’s recovery from addiction, and being the one who is actually enabling and allowing them to continue in their addictions or poor behaviors. But there is one thing that blurs the lines between these two concepts. And that is love. When we care about people, we don’t want to hurt their feelings and we don’t want to make life more difficult for them so we cater to their needs and coddle them and ultimately we become the thing that is stopping them from making real and lasting changes in their life. in this episode, we talk about how to love someone enough to allow them to pack their own wagon and figure it out for themselves. Sometimes that requires some strict boundaries that might be painful for them. But ultimately will lead them to making the changes for the right reasons and for the long term.
