Breaking Down The Serenity Prayer

Can we really tell what we have power over all the time?

The Serenity Prayer:

God, grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can,
And Wisdom to know the difference.

While  thinking about this subject, I wondered where I had first encountered  this prayer. Suspecting it was somewhere in my childhood home, I began  an investigation and called my Mother.

To  my disappointment, She did not remember having any representation of it  in our house. I knew where I had come to know it later in life, but now  I wondered where it came from early on.
