Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, males and females only, Illuminators near and far. Welcome Tuesday, January fourteenth. Already here on the Morning Show with Preston Scott at show fifty two to ninety seven. We will end the week with show fifty three hundred, and we are spiraling ever closer to the day of inauguration that will be part of the big stories in the press box today and interesting

development there that we will talk about. But now just six days away from the end of the Obiden administration, and hopefully we will have very little to say about Joe Biden and Barack Obama and Kamala Harris from that point forward. I'm sure there'll be a thing or two as we uncover and clean up the mess that's been left behind. Remember this is not going to be easy, but anyway, I digress. Welcome to the program, friends, and as always, we begin with some scripture. I wanted to

go back. I made a note to do this. I wanted to go to something that our pastor Marshall Oaks Redhills Church shared. He does expository teaching where he goes through an entire book or two of the Bible. We spent six months on First and Second Kings and just going through it almost verse by verse. There are a couple of little areas that we might kind of just give an overview, but he's now in the pastoral letters of Paul, and we're in one Timothy and in chapter two.

Understanding the context of what Paul was addressing is very important. And he also pointed out the importance of taking scripture in its totality, not cherry picking, because quite candidly, you can take an individual verse and make it say what you want it to say. It's in the totality of scripture that you get harmony first, and you get consistency of understanding of what was being communicated and what is

being communicated to us. Today. The Bible is separating itself with every single word, from every other work of faith because it has you know, it's described as living and active. There's no other book like it, which would explain why it's been the best selling book forever. And it's not really a book. It's a lie. It's a library of books and letters compiled together. It's a book of history, it's a book of documentation of God's efforts to reach man and why and how and what it looks like

to live as a Christian. And so, as Paul is teaching Timothy in these pastoral letters, he says in chapter two, verse one, first of all, then I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people. I want to

just pause right there, because that's enough. You can read on from there, and if you want to really in depth thing, I just you know, go to the church website and check out the message and you'll learn a lot about this chapter and you can go back and check out whatever you want in the in the previous chapters we start this series. But what's important here is this, What marks a Christian first and foremost is prayer period and not just for you know. I've shared this before.

What if the only people you had in your life today were the people you gave thanks for yesterday, that you thanked God for those people being in your life, your family, your friends, your colleagues, your clients. But it's not just those favored few. That we're supposed to be praying for all people, all people. And there's a reason for that, and perhaps we'll get into that tomorrow. But that's where I challenge you today. Pray because it's the mark of a Christian to be praying and pray for

all people. Ten past the hour, Take a dive inside the American Patriots Almanac. Next on The Morning Show with Preston Scott. If you're new to the radio program. Each morning we start to show a little bit of a peek into God's Word, because it's most important. It's first. Then we take a peek at history, because those that don't learn from history or condemned to repeat it. And so I use this book, and I mean this thing's taped together five times. It's just I've had it for

a minute. I handwrite things in here that happened that I update it myself. It's the American Patriots Almanac. It is a national bestseller. It is compiled by William Bennett and John T. E. Cribb. William Bennett, former Secretary of Education for the United States. The last time we had a decent one, and even Bill Bennett might agree, gotta

get rid of it. But anyway, January fourteenth, Inside the American Patriots Almanac, sixteen thirty nine, three Connecticut towns adopt the Fundamental Orders, one of the earliest constitutions in the colonies. Seventeen eighty four, the Continental Congress ratifies the Treaty of Paris,

officially ending the Revolutionary War. More on that moment, nineteen fourteen, Henry Ford introduces a moving assembly line for cars, reducing production time for more than twelve hours to about ninety minutes. More on that moment. Nineteen forty three, Franklin Delano Roosevelt becomes the first US president to travel by air while in office, flies to a wartime conference in Casablanca, Morocco.

And in two thousand and eight, former guests of The Morning Show with Preston Scott, Bobby Jindall takes office in Louisiana's the first elected Indian American governor of a state. I wonder whatever ever happened to Bobby Jindall. There was a time that he was a very hot commodity, very bright guy, very conservative, and I wonder what happened. I should look up and see what he's doing. Let me work backwards here, because Henry Ford, you know how he

got the inspiration for the assembly line. He went to a Chicago meat packing plant. He watched as they processed cows, and it went from one station to another station to another station as they processed the animal and produced the beef for people to have various cuts and all of that stuff. It was an assembly line, and he was inspired by watching the assembly line at a meat packing plant, and he brought the idea of an assembly line to cars. Kind of cool inmit. And then there's this. Today is

National Ratification Day, January fourteenth. It's also National Shop for Travel Day. It's a second Tuesday in January. So it floats a little bit, founded by the National Day Calendar and the Travel Technology Association. In other words, this is you ever see me, see me when you hear me talk about it, date and history. That's ripe for something to happen because there's not much in it. There you go.

So they said, okay, the people that put this thing together online said we need a National Shop for Travel Day. Let's just do it here. National Dress Up your Pet Day, and this is the one I'd prefer to talk about. It's the National Hot Pastrami Sandwich Day. Now I personally prefer corn beef and pastrami. A hot corn beef and pastrami deli sandwich is unbelievable. I had one once at Kats's Deli in New York City, and I mean, oh my gosh, it's incredible. But that's been a go to

sandwich for me for years. Jason Ellie makes one. I think they call it the Yankee Clipper, the Yankee or something like that, and then Firehouse Subs does its version of one. I like the marble bread, the marble kind of rye bread with layers of corn, beef pastrami. I prefer Swiss cheese melted in there with a little mayo. You can add a little spicy brown mustard if you like, but that as a hot sandwich. And the toasted rye bread, Marble rye bread is just chef's kiss. It's just it's spectacular.

Seventeen past the hour, it's get going. Come on Tuesday in the morning show. Thanks for joining me, Jose. Can you see running the radio program Studio one A. We were talking about the Hopistrami sandwich and he was talking about a sandwich that he makes. Would you call it a chopped Italian sandwich? Is that what you called it?

Speaker 2

Yeah, it's a recipe I got on the internets chopped Italian.

Speaker 1

So what's the what's the fundamentals of it, and then what did you do to enhance it.

Speaker 2

It's it's essentially, you know, just everything that's in an Italian sub you know, hams, salami, pepperoni, tomatoes, onions, capa cola. I like to put some beef, some sausage in there. That's one thing I do a little different. I put a garlic aoli and then a homemade garlic butter on the bread. Yeah, toasted, Oh yeah, definitely toasted. Okay, Yeah, so I don't really change it up too much. So you chop up the meat and everything up. Oh yeah, you just put it all in there, chop it all up,

toast your bread, you know, cheese, everything goes in there. Ma.

Speaker 1

That's how you keep it all together. Is you got to have that binding agent. That's that melted cheese, mozzarella, mozzarella, provolone. What do you go with?

Speaker 2

Well, both montclea and provolone. More cheese, the better, I like to say.

Speaker 1

Nice. Okay, all right, I'll make you one. If you won't, I'll pray about that. His taste is is eclectic. You know, when he handed me the cocoa oat meal, I was uh hmm, But that's you know, it's everyone. That's the beauty of food. Food is so much about preference, right, although for some it's it's all about it's utilitarian. It's just I gotta I have to eat to survive, So

that's what I do, because it's just work. I mean, yeah, all right, this story I decided I just put it here because it was interesting to be a pastor at a Detroit church who hosted Donald Trump and made news because of it because he's black. Lorenzo Lorenzo Seoul. He spoke at the Republican National Convention to Milwaukee in doors Trump. He's been a critic of identity politics for a long time. Here's what's interesting, Okay, here is a younger, youngish black

pastor who said this. We need to understand that you cannot have progress without being bipartisan. We understand that you have to work with Democrats, you have to work with Republicans in order to make real progress happen. So we have to have that discernment. We do believe that it's very difficult for you to be a Bible believing Christian and be a Democrat. This is a black pastor. Let me say that again. We do believe that it is very difficult for you to be a Bible believing Christian

and be a Democrat. We do believe that. Do I have Democrats in my church. Absolutely. We do not believe that every Democrat is a demon, but we do believe that the Democratic platform is demonic. Where have I heard that? Oh, give me a second.

Speaker 2

Just.

Speaker 1

Oh yeah, I've been saying that for years and upsetting so many people in doing so. Also, he said, we don't believe that every Republican is a revivalist. We don't worship a donkey nor elephant. We worshiped the lamb that was slain. I just love to share when people with a different colored epidermist than I speak to the black culture what I've been saying for decades. I love it because see, until we get to a place, and we

were almost there. Ironically, it took Barack Obama becoming president, a man who's half black, to reverse decades of progress with regard to putting discrimination in its rightful place in the grave. Because a bigoted heart is a matter of the heart. You can't legislate it away. You can't stop bigotry through legislation. All you do is by favoring any

group or individual. Through legislation, you enhance bigotry. Anyway, twenty seven minutes after big stories in the press box are coming up next, oatmeal has been consumed and here we go. We're ready fueled for the morning. It's mortg show. I'm pressing. He's ose great to be with you friends. Much to discuss today. The wildfires. Of course, they have caught arrested somebody who has admitted to starting at least one blaze, perhaps more. The transient in Azusa, California has been arrested

and charged with arson. He's arrested last night about eleven thirty in the evening. He had just started another fire and it was quickly put out, so that's good. The winds are coming back, so they're desperately trying to get a hold of the fires that are still burning. But they are slowly gaining ground. If for no other reason, the fires are starting to run out of a little bit of fuel, but the wind can change all of that.

Trees can just drop, and then you've got branches and trees down and there's more fuel, and then the wind picks up and carries embers. Who knows where the guy we talked about last week that was arrested with a blow torch on a dirt bike has been set loose. They did not have enough evidence to charge him with starting a fire. Apparently it's not a crime to ride around on a dirt bike with a blowtorch, and why

would it be? Right jd Vance talking about what might be one of the very first things Donald Trump does after taking office and being sworn in on Monday, pardoning many, if not most, of the January sixth protesters. He said, look, if you protested peacefully on January sixth, and you've had Merrick Garland's Department of Justice treat you're like a gang member, you should be pardoned. If you committed violence on that day, Obviously you shouldn't be Now they've painted anyone that was

there as an insurrectionist. That's what I hope and let me extend this to you. Here's what I hope you do. They've charged almost sixteen hundred people with federal crimes. Almost three hundred and eighty charged for assaulting police or journalists, two hundred and eighty seven charge for less severe violent or nonviolent offenses. All you have to do is compare these prosecutions with let's say Clantifa, imminently violent, property destruction, et cetera. But here's the thing I want you to go.

Spend some time as I have, looking at the videotape of what went on at the Capitol. You know what Trump said, You know what Trump didn't say. Trump didn't fan the flames of anything. That is a just a complete fabrication. What I want to challenge you to do is, can you say that even some of the acts that might be violent weren't incited by FBI undercover agents and informants. Can you say, looking at Capitol police opening doors and allowing people in, it's on tape interactions the infamous dude

with the Viking hat and the horns. Hey guys, they said, we're free to walk around. Just don't take anything, don't destroy anything, just be cool. It's there. And then finally this remember the garbage trunk that Donald Trump wrote in demonstrating the garbage of the Biden administration, Kamala Harris that garbage truck is going to be in his inauguration parade. Only thirty nine floats are allowed entries of any kind

in the inauguration parade. The garbage truck is coming from the Upper Peninsula and Michigan and is going to be in the parade. I love it. Brilliant. Forty minutes past the hour, come back with something that's not so brilliant. This is the Morning Show with Preston Scott. When I saw this story and then a little nugget buried inside of it, I immediately wrote down in my rundown what's wrong with some people? Now we know this is nothing new.

The tools available to people today just make things easier. It's easier to access porn now than ever. As a result, there are more and more people probably engaging in behaviors that will lead to crimes against women and children, primarily because they're able to feed that part of their personality that's just not right. Now. Again, the core of all of this is sin, unbridled, unchecked, unredeemed people that live out according to their fleshly desires. But now you add

in social media and the ability to harass people. Now, honestly I get the whole brand thing. I get it media outlets. Look, okay, I'm gonna reveal a little something here about the company I work for. They really wish I would be more engaged in social media than I am because they want to promote the brand of their talent, music jocks, talk show hosts, et cetera. I resist that. And so even as I discuss getting back on Facebook, not me personally, the show, Instagram, not me personally, the

show I'm personally, not on anything, I'm not. I don't want any part of that. But you look at someone like Caitlin Clark, who look, she's gone sadly to the woke side. I think she got bullied into it and hopefully she walks clear of it eventually. But a fifty five year old dude was arrested for stalking her, threatening sexual battery or death against her using his own social

media X account. First of all, how ridiculously crazy, stupid, dumb, dangerous do you have to be to be using your personal identifying as me account to threaten a celebrity an athlete. He's sending her sexually explicit threatening messages and finally she just had enough and came forward. Law enforcement talked to him, he continued, He said, ah, it's it's just a little fantasy, just a joke. He kept it up. They arrested him. Then there's the story of a girl in college named

Paige Bukers. She's a exceptional basketball player at Yukon. I didn't know anything about this. A month ago, a guy in Oregon, a forty year old, was arrested found with an engagement ring in Lingerie, walking near where Buckers apparently played basketball. He had flown and you see this stuff you and this is the side of social media that if I'm any of these women, there's no way I'm on social media, especially someone like Caitlin Clark, who she set.

She doesn't need any of that. She doesn't need her brand awareness on social media, not a personal account. She could just have someone she hires do an account for basketball player Caitlyn Clark, but not a personal thing at all. Just make it a brand whatever anyway. Just oh, man, creepiness, creepiness all around forty seven past the hour. I guess this is my way of saying, warn your kids, especially

your daughters. Let me just take a moment to let you know that we have an openly transgendered member of Congress. His name is Sarah McBride. I'm holding microphone here as I am I just I can't believe we're living in an era where men are applauded for being women, and women are applauded for being men. I'm not talking about

portraying one in a movie or something. I mean, look, a chick played Peter Payan and in Broadway, and I'll have for years even in some of the movies because they were gymnasts and the Peter Pan's stuff was just it required, you know. Anyway, he is amazed. Mystified is the word that the GOP prioritizes banning men from competing

against women. I've had conversations with my colleagues about many of the bills that are coming before us, and certainly have heard from some colleagues who, like me, are mystified that this is a priority for Republican conference that is entering a Republican trifecta, that this is an issue they prioritize. It defies understanding, except for the fact that it's pretty

obvious part of politics of misdirection and distraction. Can I tell you why it's prioritized because better than seventy percent of people and the fact that it's only seventy percent is to me it's only because some feel a little bullied into saying that they think that transgender athletes deserve a place to play, yeah, on those teams that they

biologically align with. I don't know what's so hard about this issue and why it's so difficult, But you know, we had Tommy Tubberville on the program last week, and Senator Tuberville has introduced legislation in the Senate. Reintroduced, I should say, and it would it would make sure it would guarantee the Title nine that genders recognize based solely on a person's reproductive biology and genetics at birth period end. That's it. It just stops right there. It's low hanging fruit.

It's a priority because most of America thinks that this should be just done, and that's why they're going to get it done. I hope if Congress does the right thing, this is over. The NCAA can now find its courage because Congress has finally said something. Now all they had to do is do the right thing. But never mind, then there's this. Harriet Mackenzie leads Mount Royal University. Sorry, he broke five women's basketball records at Mount Royal University.

He's transferred to Vancouver Island. He Harriet Mackenzie leads the team in points, rebounds, and blocks. He's six foot two dominating competition, thinks that he's at a disadvantage competing against biological women. Second Hour Friends of the Morning Show with Preston Scott. I'm Preston. Welcome ruminators and for those of you knew to the program, great to have you with us. Appreciate you sharing time. Kind of an audio magazine, we jump around a little bit. This was shared by one

of the research assistants of the program. I have dubbed Kamala Harris the bullet America dodged. This is her insightful, thought provoking deep comments to wildfire victims in California.

Speaker 3

And so it's critically important that to the extent you can find anything that gives you an ability to be.

Speaker 4

Patient in this extremely.

Speaker 1

Dangerous and unprecedented crisis that you do. Wow, jeez, it's critically important that to the extent that you can find anything that gives you an ability to be patient in this extremely dangerous and unprecedented crisis, that you do. Thank you. Com Yesterday on the show Doom Scrolling, remember us talking about that, and if you missed it, we were pointing out that your thumb moves the equivalent of the height of the Empire State building each and every day on

your phone. Now, did that cause you any pause? Did it cause you even a moment to just like you've got your phone in your hand and you just go and you put it down, just like ew, It's just it's it's incredible. But there was so much more to that story I wanted to talk about. Doom Scrolling is looking. It was birth during COVID, everybody was sequestered in some

form or another. I still have my essential Personnel badge that authorized me to be on the streets and in my workplace should I be stopped by any federal agency while coming to work to do my show. I still have that. It's it's got a hologram embedded thing. I mean, it's it's like, it's surreal that I have that. Doom scrolling came about and it led people to doom and gloom news. And you know, we've long seen negative campaign ads. You know, it's it's you talk to anyone that runs

a political campaign and they'll tell you it's sad. But drew negative works. You know, we watched it in the last campaign season. Negative toned articles leads in stories tend to get more clicks over and over the human brain has a natural negative bias. We talked about that yesterday in light of well, some people question that we're born with a sinful nature. That's what that's our our proclivity

is to do the wrong thing. I've used for years the example of the little child, and I'm talking little and you say, now, don't eat those cookies. And you leave for a few minutes and you come back and there's crumbs on the countertop. Did you eat those cookies? And they're shaking their head. No, little ones not even two years old, throwing temper tantrums and just pulling at their hair and just being angry and upset over who knows what. That's just the sinful nature showing up. I'm

not getting my way, so wah, scream yell whatever. That's just that's who we are. We're wired that way. It may seem as if, well, it's just news from Afar. We're just consuming a little inside this story that I came across in epic heal that talks about the parable of the two Wolves. It recounts the story of a grandfather teaching his grandson about life. Inside each of us are two wolves. He explains, one is full of fear, anger, and despair. The other is full of hope, peace and love.

The two wolves you're always fighting. The grandson asks which one wins. The grandfather replies, the one you feed. There is a direct correlation between the amount of media exposure and the amount of stress that you carry. Now, some might say, well, you're hurting your own business here, pres I want to talk about that some more. Ten past the hour, doom scrolling? Are you falling? Pray to it?

Speaker 3

This is the Morning Show with Preston Scott.

Speaker 1

Back in twenty thirteen, a study followed nearly five thousand Americans in the weeks following the Boston marathon bombings. You remember that story. The results showed a direct correlation between the amount of media exposure and acute stress symptoms. Those who watched more than six hours of media coverage daily were nine times more likely to report high acute stress.

In a controlled experiment, researchers divided participants into three groups and showed them a fourteen minute news bulletin featuring either positive, neutral, or negative. Those exposed to negative news experienced increased anxiety and sadness. More critically, these individuals began magnifying concerns in areas of their lives like academics, relationships, finances, imagining worst

case scenarios. Even if people are geography geographically distant from a conflict or an incident, they can experience increased stress because of what they consume. So what do we do about it? See, not all scrolling is bad, and it's one of the things I'll tell you very just very candidly. When Barack Obama won his second term in office in

twenty twelve, I changed this show. I made a discernible, calculated decision to diversify the content of this show, to try to find things that might make you laugh, cause you to go, oh, how about that, go ah in that nice or I didn't know that that's kind of

cool or interesting. And I'd like to think that along with spending time in God's word at the beginning of the show openly, you know, I've always talked about my faith, hopefully to encourage you in yours to go ahead and include that, to use that as your filter through which to run everything that you're looking at in the news, because that's how I mean, I'll be honest with you. I sleep like a baby every night, and I think

I feel pretty strongly. It's because even with the amount of news that's negative that I consume, and I will tell you that I probably consume a little more than you because it's what I do. But years ago I came up with this thought of being from a spiritual perspective. Teflon coded it's just not going to stick because I run things through the filter of being a Christian and I am far from perfect. I am still under construction,

but I do take it seriously. It is the most important thing in my life because it's what enables me to hopefully be a good husband, to be a good father, to be a good friend, to hopefully be a colleague that people enjoy being with. You know, I have pretty high I'm pretty demanding in terms of myself and I want this show to be the best it can be. But hopefully I'm not a jerk about it. But the fact of the matter is you can find good news out there, but you will always get more negative news

than positive news. That's just the way it's always going to be. So now the question is how do you process it? And that to me circles back to your faith. And let me tell you, if you're honest about it, you will encounter things that force you to take a different differing view than you traditionally have on a wide range of subjects. Because those subjects and your view of those things don't align with your faith. You'll be forced to make a decision. And that's okay. Seventeen past the hour.

IRS has some change deadlines. We'll tell you about those next I R S three letters that send a chill in the spine of many. Tax filing season begins January twenty seventh. Various deadlines, though, have been postponed, especially for those living in SoCal but you can start filowing your tax return on the twenty Taxpayers in twenty five different states can access direct File free. It is now that there's a difference between Direct File service and the Free

File program. Direct File is offered by the IRS. Free File is offered by the IRS through different tax service providers. Last month, twenty nine House Republicans wrote a letter to President elect Donald Trump asking him to end the Direct File program. The program's creation an ongoing expansion post a threat to taxpayer's freedom from government overreach. Through Direct File, the IRS asserts itself as the tax assessor, collector, preparer,

and enforcer all in one. This is deeply concerning and a clear conflict of interest. Now the IRS is going to use AI artificial intelligence virtual assistance to help tax payers. If you've ever tried to get a question answered during tax season, I salute you, good luck, Good luck with that one. I get back to some fundamental changes that I think our country needs to make. I think it needs to dramatically overhaul the tax system. Now. I'm a believer in the fair tax. I believe in no income tax,

and I believe in a tax based on consumption. If you don't know anything about the fair tax, read up on it. I have people that write me every time I mention it and say, no, that's stupid, Well not really, it Isn't we need a flat tax, Well no we don't because we started with a flat tax. Look where we are now. That's the problem with a flat tax. Now, with a flat tax, if it was written in the Constitution that it can't go beyond this, be brilliant. Sure, yeah, absolutely,

good luck, good luck getting that done. We penalize success in this country. We allow half the country to have no skin in the game, none. The only tax they pay is when they buy stuff. At the store because every other time they get it back. I'm sorry, but that doesn't motivate citizenship. Everybody should have some skin in the game when it comes to paying for our national defense, paying for our government, because if you have money taken out to pay for things, you are more likely to

be paying attention to what that money's used for. When you're giving money to the government every single time you get paid, you tend to be more critical about that money being taken and how it's used. It buttresses stewardship. But a fair tax is done at the checkout. And what you don't know is that right now, there's about twenty two to twenty four percent of tax embedded in the price of everything you buy at the store right now,

and then you're taxed at the checkout. What this would do is it would roll out all of those taxes no one pays. No one would pay a tax. You would be paying your taxes when you buy stuff, and everybody from Bill Gates and Elon Musk down to you and me would get something called a preba. In other words, you get X amount of dollars based on you and how many people are in your household. And after that basically you're paying taxes. So if you buy a bunch of stuff because you got a bunch of money, you

pay more taxes. If you're just buying basics, you pay far less taxes. Pretty smart way to go. And those that don't make as much money get the prebate just like everybody else. It's called a fair tax for a reason. Anyway, twenty eight past the hour goes back to them telling me when I have to take my retirement.

Speaker 5

The government shouldn't have that, say, got.

Speaker 1

A manly minute coming up in the next half hour, a little more to the story of Mark Zuckerberg's transformation, if you will, but the big stories in the press box. Pete Hegsith in two hours will be making his opening statement in Senate confirmation hearings. This is gonna be good stuff. Pete is a very bright guy, and he wants the job. He's prepared and from what I saw in the gallery, will be a bucket load of Navy seals supporting his appointment as Secretary of Defense. Okay, I love it. That's

gonna be some pretty good theater. You can watch that unfold on Fox News. Jd Vance, commenting on pardons of January sixth participants, basically saying there's a difference. There are those that might have committed violent crimes destruction of property. We'll be looking at those very differently than those who did not, and those that did not can expect to pardon,

perhaps on day one. I think that it is one of the darkest moments in US history that we have imprisoned people who went inside the nation's capital and did nothing other than go inside that building. I don't care they weren't supposed to be in that building. Well, if a Capitol police officer lets you in the building technically is owned by US, I don't care. There should be no one should be charged for going into the people's house. Were there some that went too far? Probably were they

egged on by informants or undercover FBI agents. Well we probably need to know that, don't we, And wouldn't that mitigate things just a little bit? And should we maybe have another visit on the gentleman who's been promoted for shooting and killing Ashley Babbitt because he violated every protocol in the discharging of a firearm by law enforcement officer. Every they've arrested an admitted arsonist, someone admitted that he started at least one of the fires. Wins are coming

back this week. They're working feverishly to get as much under control as possible. The windsor coming back. And you know, I think this is interesting. Governor Rohn De Santis called the special set. Remember Salnuso yesterday on the show said there's likely going to be and here's what it's like. And he was on the money with all of it. But here's what's interesting. Ben Albritton, Senate President, and Danny Perez,

the House Speaker, have I'm looking at their memorandum. It's a joint memorandum that they sent out to all lawmakers. Let me just read a couple things. Calling a special session at this time is premature. Florida's constitution compels our attendants at a special session unilaterally called by the governor. However, the power to convene a special session also resides with

the preside officers, as the people's elected representatives. The legislature, not the governor, will decide when and what legislation we consider. I told Salouzoh, this is going to be fodder for the mainstream media. I was correct. It is. It's being jumped on. I will also say that all sides on this have misplayed this. The governor misplayed this getting ahead of the Senate President and Speaker, and the Senate President and Speaker misplayed this by coming out with such a statement.

They all messed up. It just hurts the brand and we should be riding high. And this is a mistake. Is it a big one? No, but it's a mistake. Forty one minutes past the hour. More on Mark Zuckerberg. It's the More Show with Preston Scott Boy. It's been an amazing ten days in the world of Facebook, Instagram,

Meta right. Zuckerberg coming out saying, yes, we overreached with censorship, where he had said previously under oath that they didn't engage in any Then he comes out on the Joe Rogan experience and talks about the importance of masculinity and that getting into martial arts has fine tuned his male persona, his inner dude, my word's not his. Then he announced that he was removing tampon stations from the men's rooms

at Meta HQ. Thank you, Sarah, that's common sense. Oh trust me, he's paying a price for that, he is. But then there's this the Federalist Jordan Boyd. She writes a piece Zuckerberg's rebrand of Facebook's role in Biden's censorship scheme refuted in Facebook files, and she talks about the mission to give Facebook a makeover, which makes sense because he's trying to curry favor with Trump and avoid the harshness of having to atone for his deeds of error.

But on Joe Rogan's podcast, he said, Biden administration we quote call up our team and scream at them and curse, demanding censorship of content, memes, et ceter, undermining the regime's COVID nineteen agenda. According to Facebook founder, employees on meta censorship team rejected even pushed back on the Democrat regimes pressure to take down humor and satire. It Basically, I'm quoting Zuckerberg. It basically just got to the point where we were like, no, we're not going to take that

down things that are true. That's ridiculous. Joe Rogan, did you record any of those phone calls? I'd like to listen. No, I don't think we did, But I mean the emails are published, it's all kind of out there. Referring to the Facebook files published by the House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan back in twenty twenty three. Except here's the problem. The Facebook files show that what Zuckerberg said to Joe

Rogan's not accurate. The actual documents show that there were several instances where Facebook did exactly what Biden's officials were demanding of them, And inside this article they list incident after incident after incident. She writes in closing, Zuckerberg wants the millions of people who tuned in to his conversation with Rogan to believe that Facebook was a heroic middleman who told off the government when it tried to throttle dissenters.

In reality, Facebook was a willing accomplice in the Democrat fueled war on free speech. No amount of Zuckerberg's revisionist retelling can erase the evidence that Facebook eagerly participated in the Biden administration's scheme to silence its political enemies, dissenters, and publications like The Federalist. You see, That's why I'm not just jumping back on to Facebook and creating content on Instagram because I want to wait and see, Because

I completely agree. No, no, no, no, Facebook was complicit in this, they helped, they encouraged. So yeah, forty seven minutes after we come back the story of a Boy Surviving and a manly minute.

If you're just making a little time with us, thanks greatly appreciated. He's Oseiah, I'm Preston. This is the morning show. We are on x at TMS. President Scott Facebook, Instagram to be determined, we'll see. I'm still interested in hearing from younger people, and I'm going to define younger people as thirties on down, thirties on down? Should we because older folks don't care a lot about Instagram. For some of you, Instagram is just a thing where you just

look at fun little videos and move on. And so everybody that's older in my audience has said, don't waste your time on Instagram. I'm not so certain. I believe it's important to try to win over younger people to listen to this format, to engage their brain to think a little differently than the way that they've been programmed largely by high ed and the philosophy of the world right first gift to me by me that kind of thing, and so I would love to hear from those of

you in your teens, twenties and thirties. Should we find our way onto Instagram? And if so, with what what could we do that would be different and enhance the Instagram world? And maybe the answer is nothing. I certainly don't have the time to waste on something that's meaningless, So I'm open to that. President at iHeartRadio dot com told you a little boy. This is an amazing story. Perhaps you've heard it. He got lost seven year old

boy in Zimbabwe, spent a week in the savannah. Now, in this particular part of Zimbabwe, their elephants which that could go poorly, Rhinoceros that could go poorly, buffalo that could go poorly. But most importantly, there are lions, lots and lots of lions. And this little fella was rescued a week after going missing, and he survived on wild fruits and a clever little trick to stave off dehydration, and he survived. He was found safe and sound in

his back home. Amazing, which leads us to our manly minute. These are skills, ideals, virtues, things to teach your son so that one day you can say proudly, you young man are just that you are a man because we're male by birth. You're a man when you choose to

be a man. The little trick where he was taught when he's seven, but when he was little, he was taught how to dig for water next to a dry riverbank and you dig down and you dig down and you get to where there's water down below the surface, and then it fills up the hole and you wait a little bit, you scoop that water out and then slowly the more water that comes in, the cleaner, the more filtered it is. That's how he stayed hydrated. My point, teach your son the different ways to obtain water. If

out in nature, there are different ways. It's a bushcraft. Not only is it cool, very useful, and it's not just digging a hole. There's all kinds of other things that you can do. There. You go, there's your mainly minute. When we come back, what's all this talk about greenland? The third hour is next here the Morning Show with Preston Scott. Welcome to the third hour of the Morning Show with Preston Scott. Ruminators. I am grateful to be

with you. As I was driving into work today, I just immediately started speaking the word grateful in context to my wife and my children, and our family, and our friends, and my coworker and my job and all of you and the clients that I have, and just reflecting on how grateful that I am to do what I have been privileged to do for my life. I've had so many neat, little iterations of my professional career, and they

all sort of stand as an island onto themselves. But in doing what I'm doing now, it's as if it's a compilation of all of those life and lived experiences all coming together. And I just this morning, as I was praying, just found myself in a place of gratitude. And I hope you are too. I hope that you find a way to be grateful where wherever you are, whatever that position is, because I know that for some you're going through a very difficult time. I'm still going

to challenge you. Find a way to be grateful. It will help you, It really will. If I were to approach this topic the way that say Kamala Harris would have approached it, I would say Greenland is a big country, and even though it's called Greenland, it frequently is covered in snow right right, and so maybe we should call it Whiteland because it's you know, the Arctics are anyway, and China and Russia are bad countries and they want to control the area around and maybe even the area

of Greenland, and we need to stop it. Maybe Kamalis approach isn't the best one. So I thought I'd do a little digging, because honestly, how many of you gave Greenland a moment of thought before Trump said We're gonna just buy it, and then you heard stories of potential military action to take it. It's like, whoa, whoa, tap the brakes here? What? What? What's going on here? So I decided to do some digging and try to learn

a little bit. And I will tell you on the front end, I don't have my arms completely around this, but I have come across some very interesting articles that are informative on the topic. And let me just to kind of weet your appetite to what we're going to talk about in the next segment. Here's a headline Greenland's Prime minister expressed readiness to meet with President elect Donald

Trump quote ready to talk. So once again, Trump, though not even inaugurated for his second term is the de facto president of the United States right now, and by making a statement, has in fact caused the Cabinet of Greenland and which is in essence a subsidiary of Denmark, to say, let's talk so what was kind of outlandish sounding. Has caused the Prime Minister of Greenland to say, I'm ready to talk about what. Ah, that's what we'll talk

about next amongst ourselves. Ten past the hour. Quick check whether in traffic, it's great to be with you.

Speaker 7

This morning, oh god on news radio one hundred point seven double USLA.

Speaker 1

So what I'm going to share comes from a top story from the Epic Times. It's an exclusive to subscribers. Hello, and yes, I pay for my subscription. It's not a freebie. I don't I never mind. There is a consensus that's been around for a while within the US National Security Committee community rather that China and Russia are a real

threat and a growing influence in the Arctic region. When asked if he would rule out using military economic coercion to control both Greenland and the Panama Canal, Trump said, I'm not going to commit to that now. The context for all of this is important for US to better understand what he's really driving at. Michael Walsh is a US foreign policy expert who advised Joe Biden's twenty twenty campaign, and so you might be thinking, really, what do we

want to hear from him about. In reality, this is one of those rare areas where the Obiden administration and Trump are almost joined at the hip. The importance of Greenland. Walsh argues that Trump's approach has its advantages as it brings issues typically dealt with behind closed doors into the public. As a result, Americans are going to become more aware of national security challenges. And he said, there's a growing concern about the independence of Greenland and the Faroe Islands

or the Pharaoh Islands, two autonomous territories of Denmark. And that's what we're talking about. Greenland is an autonomous territory of Denmark, sort of like Puerto Rico is to the United States. Despite Denmark being a very close NATO ally, the US fears that Denmark's influence over the islands could fade if Greenland moves towards independence. Something that oh, by

the way, Greenland wants Greenland wants independence from Denmark. Now, what's causing the concern and why Greenland is so important. And let's get back to chess and checkers. Here this is Donald Trump getting ahead of the game, saying I've got four years. I'm going to make Greenland important. Let's

make Greenland important again. The concern is that China's growing commercial and military capabilities in the Arctic are ramping up Russian Chinese warships operating together frequently in the region, according to a two thousand and eight estimate from the US Geological Survey. Listen, now, this is everything to understand this

and the importance in trump'size. The vast resources of the Arctic include ninety billion arrows of oil sixteen one hundred and sixty nine trillion cubic feet of natural gas that represents twenty two percent of the world's undiscovered conventional oil and natural gas. The Arctic has trillions of dollars worth of minerals, including silver, copper, gold, nickel, iron, ore, and

rare earth elements. In addition, Greenland is home to a large US military base with missile warning and space surveillance systems. It's vitally important to our national interests. That's why Greenland matters. Now, the Prime Minister of Greenland. In his statement, He's ready to talk, went further. Cooperation is about dialogue. Cooperation means

that you will work towards solutions. He said. Greenland's not for sale, but in a turn of events, he revealed that the territory is going to pursue independence from Denmark. We have a desire for independence, he said, a desire to be the master of our own house. This is something everyone should respect. Greenland is for the Greenlandic people. We do not want to be Danish, we do not want to be American. We want to be Greenlandic. Fair enough, have you ever looked at Greenland on a map? Pull

it up on a map. I think it would be safe to say that Greenland is bigger than the continental United States. Greenland's huge, and apparently, see if I can find the exact number here, if I'm not missing's taking, Greenland might not have fifty thousand people living there. Yeah, forty five thousand people live in Greenland. So candidly, Greenland is ripe for the taking. Now I'm not suggesting for

the US taking. I'm suggesting that Greenland is ripe for China and Russia, and that we have a very very vested interest in securing a shall we say, strong relationship with Greenland, whether it's a territory or a nation. Honestly, I had no idea it was a territory and it belonged to Denmark. Did you learn something new every day? I hope you learned something I did that was one of those journeys that I came across a topic. And I, you know, I'm honest enough to say I don't know.

I really so I had to do some looking and came across some things that at least provided me some more insight into why this matters. And I'll be honest with you, it speaks to the importance of Trump being in office. There's a lot of things like this out there now. We talked about this with kat Camick, who, by the way, was apparently a considered choice for US Senator by Governor Ron desandis apparently congresswoman. Cammick was interviewed

by the governor and his team for possible consideration. He is leaning away from someone that's in Congress because of the razor thin margins that exist for Republicans. But he he did meet with Corey Mills. He apparently did meet with congress Woman Cammick. We'll talk about that with her in a couple of weeks. It might even be next week where we talk with Kat again. But anyway, I

talked with her. I am annoyed that the government tells us when you have to take your Social Security money out, or when you have to take your four oh one K money, you have to start withdrawing it by this date. Why why, why should anyone in the government have any say over that. Additionally, you know there's this story out here about the new catch up rules, the Secure Act two point zero, passed by Congress to allow Americans between the ages of sixty and sixty three catch up on

retirement by contributing more. Why should the government have any say whatsoever in the amount of money you put away in savings in a four oh one K, whether it's a standard four oh one K or a wrath. Why they pass something like the Secure Act and they're ignoring the the obvious issue in the room. Why should the government have any limit on how much money you or I save? Why should they have any say? Now, the

details on this you have to get to. You have to have saved twenty two five hundred dollars in a year before the catch up contribution, which is now up to eleven twot fifty. You get to add that. But I'm going to go back to why should they have a say? Who the crap is the government to tell you or me how much money we should save and when we should take it out of savings and start using it. It's none of their business. And I am going to make this an issue with every member of Congress,

House or Senate that I talked to. It's none of their business. Twenty seven minutes past the hour. I'm going to be on time here so that we got time in a few minutes. Howard Heisman more money talk coming up the Preston Show with Morning Scott. What I gotta make a correction here? John wrote in he said, I think you're looking at a Mercator map which exaggerates areas in the north like Greenland. And so I did a little digging as he suggested, and he's correct. Greenland is

not bigger than the continental United States. It's about the size of Middle America, maybe a little less. So correction correction made. Forty five thousand people live there. That much we know is pretty much accurate. And so I just wanted to make that correction. Thank you very much. Yeah, I just pulled up a map and it was like, whoa, Really,

that's how much tension I paid to Greenland in my lifetime. Anyway, I also got a note from a listener who said, I'm guessing you and I will never agree on issues. I am at heart an anti government anarchist. I'm not sure I would brag about that government is needed, but the type of government we have evolved into is not.

But I digress yet. Even I know that anytime someone enters a restricted space, especially through a broken window, should have the gumption enough not to Those who entered the Capitol, especially those who runs through deaths and offices, deserve jail time. The FBI instigators are a separate issue. For myself, I've got better sense. Take care. I don't disagree with some of your sentiment except for this. The majority of people

did not go through a broken window. The overwhelming majority of people went through a door that was opened by Capitol police. They were welcomed in, and as others have pointed out, you wouldn't even know where to go if someone didn't direct you. Hence we get to the insiders. But people that rummaged around through desks. Yeah, I can see where that would be something that you would punish. I'm not sure you punish it with jail time unless they took stuff. Now, if they took stuff, yeah, a

little time in the slammer. But I think most rational people would look at what happened for most, not all, of the people protesting and say, yeah, maybe a week in jail is enough, or maybe house arrest for two weeks and a fine or what have you. What's gone on here is an unmerited persecution and and so yeah, so anyway, big stories in the press box, there's that what will what will Donald Trump do? Who will he pardon?

I think he would be wise to go through the list and look at the offenses and grant blanket pardons to certain offense and then go case by case. That's that would be my advice. The garbage truck that Trump rode in at a rally to a rally, it's going to be in the inaugural parade. I love that, the ultimate trolling of Biden on his way out putting a garbage truck in there. In fact, you know what, I would have it at the front I would have it with two sign bearers, you know those banners that they

have that that precede a marching band or whatever. I would have that saying before the garbage truck, cleaning up what's been left behind, cleaning up the last four years, and the garbage truck. That would be incredibly fun. And then there's this. They have caught one guy who has admitted to the setting a fire or two endsient. Is he here illegally? I don't know. Jose Karen zon Escobar, I don't know. Maybe no relations. I wouldn't think first name connects you at the hip that would be that

would be certain. And then the governor called a special session. The two officers in charge, the House Speaker Danny Perez and the Senate President Ben Albritton, said not so fast. There was a little pushback. I think it was very poorly handled by all parties. I think this was a mistake by the governor, and I think the reaction is a mistake by the leaders in both chambers. I think they is this a deal breaker on anything? No, but I predicted it would be fodder if they went this route,

and that's exactly what it's become. Speaker 7

Do you lay them money now?

Speaker 1

Happy New Year, Howard? How in the world are you?

Speaker 4

I am doing better than I deserve and feeling blessed, blessed, grateful as you had indicated in your past segment.

Speaker 1

Preston, Howard, the S and P five hundred has I cannot understand what you're about to tell me? How is this possible?

Speaker 4

Well, a couple couple of real quick things. So, Preston investors have experienced and benefited from back to back gains of twenty five percent the last two calendar years and this past year in twenty twenty four, it registered fifty seven record highs along the way, and that's the fifth most record highs in a year going all the way back to nineteen fifty three, a long time ago. That's when I was posing for a baby picture with my

just born sister. And interestingly, in nineteen fifty three, that record breaking year in the market, the SMP was up eleven percent, inflation was three and a half percent, and the ten year Treasury bond yield was four point seven, pretty close to what they are right now.

Speaker 1

How is it possible that the market can do so well with interest rates so high, with inflation so high, and people and having less discretionary income.

Speaker 4

That's a great question. The inflation that you referenced means that there's still a lot of money in people's pockets, particularly those in the investor class. Some of the funds that came out during the you know, during the COVID timeframe and afterwards and continue are really the fuel for what causes real assets like stocks and the value of our homes to go up.

Speaker 1

Let's stay with the s and P five hundred for a second. What are the analysts out there targeting for the new year?

Speaker 4

Sure, and I'm going to preface the answer by saying, most Wall Street analysts tend to be pretty optimistic. Okay, they work for financial companies, but the median Wall Street analysts this year is targeting the SMP to go to sixty six hundred. Today it sits at fifty nine hundred after a little pullback to start the year, and so

that implies about a twelve percent return. And just to put that in perspective, Preston, they're about fifteen or sixteen analysts that are generally the most idly followed, and their average gain for this year it would be about eight point eight percent, with the most bullish predicting a twenty one percent gain on top of the prior to years big gains. It remained I would say, I think it

remains to be seen. I would be more cautious. I think valuations are high, there are economic issues, there's a change in administration, and sometimes those things, you know, can cause a little bit of pause that refreshes, and you know, that's kind of what my thinking would be. I'd be surprised if we see another ten or fifteen percent plus year, but it's the market. It certainly could happen.

Speaker 1

Howard, we went a little deep on a couple of topics, which I'm glad we did, but thanks for the intel. We'll talk again in a couple of weeks.

Speaker 4

Looking forward to Preston. Have a great day, sir.

Speaker 1

Thank you. Sir. Howard eisaman with us this morning. Money Talk here in the Morning Show with Preston Scott. I am loath to drive people to TV, but there is a time and a place, and watching the Pete Hegseth confirmation hearings might be must watch television today. I'm sure we'll have a thought or two on that. Tomorrow. Tomorrow J D. Johnson Tellent Training Group will join us. We'll

take calls an email start of the year. We're gonna talk a little fundamentals, some firearm basics, talk about some starting points. If you will, and again email questions Preston at iHeartRadio dot com. Just put in the subject line personal defense or talent and you can also call in tomorrow we'll take calls. We'll make the time for the phone calls. We're going to make a few adjustments this year with the segments and give you a chance to

ask some questions. Emily Hiccocks is twenty five. She's from Indiana. Cousin purchased a lottery ticket in the Michigan Lottery for a white elephant gift exchange. The family does a Christmas gift exchange where they all bring something kind of inexpensive and share it. She said, my dad actually won the ticket in the gift exchange. I won the gift. He brought a flashlight. He wanted his gift back, so we made a trade. I took the ticket. He got the

flashlight back because he really liked it. How often do you see that happen? Well, I scratch off the ticket on Christmas, which happens to be my birthday, and I thought I won fifty thousand dollars. I screamed. Then I downloaded the Michigan Lottery app and created an account to check the ticket on the app scanner. I was expecting to see fifty thousand dollars, and then I saw the extra zero. She won five hundred thousand dollars on the

gift exchange. She said, she's going to use her winnings to buy a new car, invest and share with her family, including her dad and her cousin who bought the ticket. That's good form right there, Well done, young lady. Good job.

Speaker 6

Brought to you by Barno Heating and Air. It's the Morning Show on on WFLA look.

Speaker 1

Back at the radio's program in one hundred and seconds one hundred and eighty seconds or less. California wildfires still burning and the winds are picking back up this week, which is of real concern as they're trying to get this thing, all of these fires under control. They've caught at least one arsonist. They have arrested a person they described as a transient stopped him from setting additional fires, but he was caught literally in the act and admitted

to it. Jd Vance making some statements about pardons for January sixth. Protest participants have a little discussion on that. Talked about the garbage truck that Trump wrote in during the campaign is going to be in the inaugural parade. I think it ought to be in the front with a banner that says, just cleaning up what the last guy left behind. I just think something along that lines

would be perfect. Discussed briefly, the special session called by the governor and Ben Albritton, President of the Senate, Danny Perez, Speaker of the House, released a joint statement saying the special session was premature calling it and that while the governor can call a special session, the power to convene one resides with the presiding officers as well as the people's elected representatives. The legislature, not the governor, will decide

when and what legislation we consider. So I consider this a bit of a misstep by the governor. Governor should have met with him first say I'm thinking of doing this, Guys, what do you think? And they're not having it. I don't know that we will have a special session, so we'll see. But I think it's a mistake on all parties. But mostly I think the governor messed up on that one. Mark Zuckerberg facebook files tell a little bit of a

different story than the rewrite. He is trying to push out some changes on filing taxes this year, doom scrolling. We talked about the ins and outs of that and covered a lot of ground today Today it was just us and Howard, and of course we started with God's word on Timothy too. M
