Episode description

If you're over 35 and having hormonal changes how do you know if it's perimenopause? And what is perimenopause anyway?

In this episode, Lori Aikman discusses the signs of perimenopause and the hormonal changes that cause them. Perimenopause is the period leading up to menopause, which can occur in a woman's 40s or even earlier. The main hormonal changes during perimenopause include a decrease in progesterone and fluctuations in estrogen levels. The signs of perimenopause include heavier and longer periods, shorter menstrual cycles, increased breast pain, waking up in the middle of the night, and new or increased anxiety. Aikman also mentions that women may experience worse cramps during perimenopause.
