Episode description

Dr. Michael Shuster joins us this week to talk about his work training young dentists to do more than merely treat their patients' problems. Dr. Shuster talks about misconceptions within dental culture, which are part of why so many young dentists get trapped into practices that will ultimately become a burden rather than a joy.

We then discuss how the vast majority of dentists practice in a mechanistic, rather than humanistic, fashion. Dr. Shuster also describes the four levels of dentistry, and how a humanistic approach can have myriad benefits: better relationships with patients, a smaller practice, and more income.

Finally, Dr. Shuster takes a few questions and shares a particularly touching patient story with all of us.
