On today’s show we hear from postpartum doula, Ciara. Growing up in foster care made it hard for Ciara to connect with others so when she struggled to bond with her baby in those first few days after giving birth, she felt she was broken. Six years later she conceived her second child and although a complete surprise, she knew she wanted a different birth experience. A calm birth course and the right support around her ignited the confidence she needed to believe in and trust herself when making decisions that were unfavourable with the hospital. She describes her second birth as a deeply healing experience, gifting her that instant connection she once believed was unreachable.
