Political skew data - from Dubai, the latest from podnews.net with CoHost for Better Podcast Insights. Podchaser has launched political skew data across half a million podcasts.
It uses a combination of AI-driven analysis and human verification to determine the political lean of each podcast audience, it says, and aims to predict left, right or neutral bias and the degree of lean and connected to that in an article today, Mathew Passy has highlighted podcasting's influence on the 2024 election. You'll find that link from our show notes and our newsletter at podnews.net.
Listen Notes is spotting podcasts produced using Google's NotebookLM and says there are now 1781 of them. Yikes! Brianna Anseldo has listened to 200 of them and concludes "without authenticity is just a bunch of noise". Spotify appears to have quietly changed its language about its analytics, dropping the claim that its definition of streams aligns to the IAB definition of a download.
Kind of doesn't really. We've updated the section on Spotify's stats in our article about how to understand podcast stats, as well as making other improvements to the article as well. Feedback is always welcome. You'll find that linked from our show notes and our newsletter at podnews.net. CBC News has talked to brain scientists about why some people enjoy sped-up podcast listening and Earbuds this week posts five podcasts for hope in a polarised world.

It's a Monday, so time for some tech stuff and enhancements to the podcast location tag from Daniel J. Lewis and from me are in phase 8 of the new podcast namespace. Specifically, it adds a new way to mark where an episode was recorded, as well as the subject matter of what it was about. Podnews' RSS feed has the enhanced version in markup in both the channel and the item tags.
And if you want to see what it looks like or True Fans supports it, we link to an episode today where you can look for the recording location. Phase 8's plan is currently just two tags to avoid burnout. There's the podcast location tag and the podcast follow tag is the other one, which is perhaps better placed in podcast websites, according to me, but it wouldn't be the first time that I've got things wrong.
And the AI podcast is a Python script to generate a podcast from a document you give it, much like notebook LM does. Inform your audience that the podcast is generated by AI, the author suggests. And in podcast news, this is Powerful with Paul Scolfer. He's doing a Men's Mental Health Month special this week. Given the detrimental effect alcohol and drugs have on mental health, he's sharing five tips, one tip a day, as well as personal anecdotes on how to get and stay sober.
The Better Call Daddy podcast has made it to episode 400 today. Reena Freedman Watts interviews people whose stories haven't been told, at least not through her unique lens, and then gets daddy's advice afterwards, like a good daughter does. The guest for episode 400 is Hunter Biden's ex, London Roberts. The Sound Off podcast has amplified Stephen Goldstein as a guest this time around. Host Matt Cundell says, "I asked him to critique my new audio promo.
I won't spoil what he says, but I will be making a new audio promo shortly." Slate's Slow Burn The Rise of Fox News is now available to binge in full, how a cable news channel became a cultural and political force, and how a whole new bunch of people rose up to try and stop it. The last episode looks at the 2024 US presidential elections, and Libsyn's Rob Walsh has put together a podcast playlist called Harris and Trump Podcast Interviews.
It contains original links to podcasts with interviews with the US presidential candidates. Like our podcast trailers feed, it contains direct links to each show on their original podcast host. You'll find trailers for all of these shows in the new Podcast Trailers podcast. You can find that wherever you get this podcast, and this podcast is sponsored by Co-host.
