From our daily newsletter, the latest from podnews.net with Podscribe. Podcasting is now a mainstream media in a new country, a new study says today. More than half the population listen to podcasts every month in the US, the UK and now Australia. All right, that's enough of that. The Infinite Dial Australia 2025 was released by Edison Research and CRA, showing that podcasting is now a mainstream media in Australia.

52% of Australians listen to a podcast every month, beating the UK at 51% and approaching the US at 55%. The data also shows that more than a third of Australians listen to podcasts in the car, compared with 50% to a music streaming and 84% listening to the radio. Meanwhile, the digital news report for Australia was also released from the University of Canberra. Among the data held in the report is a chapter on podcasting.

9% of Australians say they use podcasts for news in the past week, and that figure rises to 16% for 35 to 44-year-olds. And among news podcast listeners, 82% say that podcasts help them understand issues better than other types of media. And 59% are willing to pay for news podcasts. That's the highest figure in the world. Yes, thank you. Very good. Elsewhere, Apple Podcasts appears not to be ingesting transcripts for new shows. We're sure that they'll fix that soon.

Podcasts demonstrate strong ROI comparable to TV and digital display, yet they're often overlooked or undervalued. This is a critical moment for Canadian storytelling, according to a coalition of Canadian podcast creators, producers, and platforms who've issued an open letter to federal government to formally recognize and fund podcasting. as a core part of Canada's culture as a core part of Canada's cultural and creative industries.

OSHA has renewed a partnership with universal production music, allowing OSHA's users access to more than 500 music tracks for their episodes. Podcast maker tool Alitu now supports more podcasting 2.0 features, including the funding tag, an easy way to link to your Patreon, donation, or membership page. They're also supporting, among others, the license and text fields. The US Triton digital podcast ranker for May was released.

NPR holds the top two slots with NPR News Now, an up first from NPR. The Gamut podcast network, launched in March, is new in the sales network's ranker. And Australian right-wing journalist Joe Hildebrand, absolutely not, is going to partner with Nova Entertainment. It was announced today. For the record, that's the number four, F-O-U-R, the record, is going to be co-hosted by Tim Blackwell and part of the Ricky Lee, Tim and Joel podcast.

Podcasts on YouTube are really like a perfect example of what feels like an overnight success, but it was many years in the making, really.
