Why did Marco Arment remove the little green "Support this podcast" button from Overcast? In the accidental tech podcast in a chapter called Features with Ad but for Apple, he shares the reasons why. Firstly, very few people used it. And secondly, he was worried Apple would reject the app
from the App Store. He suggests he's dropped other ideas for helping podcasters earn revenue because he was concerned that Apple wouldn't approve them.
The real harm that's done is all those ideas out there that people talk themselves out of even trying. So there's this overall chilling effect on the ecosystem when we know there's all this potential that could be really great. But we kind of think, well, Apple probably wouldn't like that or probably wouldn't allow that. So we don't even try.

In Dave Weiner's Scripting News podcast, he complains about the name Podcasting 2.0.
They asked me, "What do you think of Podcasting 2.0?" And I think, Well, there is no such thing. They should change the name. They should come up with a more humble name. And then we can have fun because we can all work on this stuff as equals because we are equals.
