Parenting Our Future - podcast cover

Parenting Our Future

Parents! We CAN change the world, starting with the way we're parenting our future. Up to this point in history, children have been seen as less than and parented in a way that uses power over a child. Most of us were parented in this way but there is a shift in thinking about the way we raise our kids. Parents don’t feel good about using shame, blame, criticism, punishments, and even rewards, to get their kids to listen. Parents are wanting a different way because they know from their own childhoods this type of parenting hurts and leaves us with scars we take with us through our adulthood. Each one of my episodes is designed to help you navigate the difficult journey of parenting but in a way that is more peaceful and intentional. I’ll show you how to get your kids to listen and cooperate without yelling, punishments and rewards. I’ll show you how to understand your own feelings and those of your kids. My intention is to bring you to a place where you feel connected with your kids and yourself (we often get lost when we become parents!). Tune in weekly for all the inside tips, tools and tricks I teach my private clients to help you build the family you always wanted, and to become the parent you always envisioned you would be. I promise to provide you with fun and entertaining content that will leave you seeing your kids and your reactions in a whole new light! Please make sure to share the episodes that give you goosebumps, and leave you feeling inspired! I am always grateful for every person who subscribes, leaves a review and rates my podcast 5 stars.

What is “Peaceful Parenting | POF195

I get this question a lot. Sometimes people ask me because they know they want to be more peaceful, but some people ask because they think it means raising kids who are entitled snowflakes. In a “full circle moment” I'm interviewing Kiva Shuler, the CEO of the Jai Institute of Parenting where I was trained and certified as a Parent Coach! We are talking about what “Peaceful Parenting” is, and what it ...

There are so many good Dads out there so I want to cover this topic carefully. Help Kids Overcome Fear & Anxiety with Christina Furnival | POF183

It’s so important to understand that we all feel fear and anxiety. Fear is meant to protect us and keep us safe so when our kids are scared, we need to reassure them that it’s normal and natural. We want to honour their feeling but we also want them to know that they can manage their fears and control their unhelpful thoughts. This helps kids feel more confident and that leads to higher resilience. Christina Furnival is returning to my show for the second time to talk us through how to teach kid...

Our kids are naturally curious explorers who can easily get caught up in their own world of make believe and play! It’s wonderful to experience and it’s vital to their growth and development. #safesocial | POF172

Should we be thinking about social media as risky behavior, equal to drinking alcohol, doing drugs, unprotected sex and operating heavy machinery? Sciencedirect.com defines risky behavior as: “Risk taking is any consciously, or non-consciously controlled behavior with a perceived uncertainty about its outcome, and/or about its possible benefits or costs for the physical, economic or psycho-social well-being of oneself or others.” In other words, it’s behavior that can cause harm to yourself and ...

Talking to your kids about online safety, needs to be as normal as teaching them to safely cross the street. I know we would rather not talk about pornography but the reality is, that every child with a device connected to the internet, is a portal to porn. I never thought I would be having this conversation in such a personal way. For me, I’m sharing, for the first time, that one of my sons has come out as bisexual to me. In this Episode, I’m talking to my friend and Safety Expert, Jason Brick, on how to teach your kids how to stay safe during a school shooting. (But these strategies will work in any active shooter situation). As a parent, we don’t want to have to think about this; it’s our worst nightmare that our child might be hurt or killed in a school shooting.
