And welcome to another episode of Organized Chaos . So today we're diving into a topic that has really transformed my life and business , and that is the power of visualization . So as a mom entrepreneur , I know firsthand how chaotic life can get .
There was a time when I felt completely overwhelmed by the juggling act of running a business and managing my family life . It wasn't until I discovered the power of visualization that things started to change for me . I began to see like a clear picture to my goals and my confidence grew and the stress started to kind of fade away .
Today I want to share this really awesome tool with you so you can experience the same benefits . The purpose of today's episode is to help you understand what visualization is , why it's so important and how you can use it to achieve your goals as a mom entrepreneur . So let's get started . So what exactly is visualization ?
In simple termsization is the process of creating a mental image of a future event . It's like daydreaming with a purpose . When you visualize , you imagine yourself achieving your goals in vivid detail . So the really cool part about this is that our brains respond to these imagined experiences almost as if they were real .
So this is really backed by science , and studies have shown that visualization activates the same neural pathways in the brain as actually going through those experiences physically . So in a way , you're training your brain for success even before it happens . So now let's talk about why this is even important .
So first , visualization helps in really clarifying your goals . By taking the time to visualize your results , you create a clear and specific path that you can follow . It's like having a roadmap that kind ofs your confidence .
So visualizing success can increase your confidence because when you see yourself achieving your goals in your mind , it reduces self-doubt and it starts to empower you to take action . And that's the thing it's about action . It's not just imagining something out there in the far future , it's about taking the right actions .
And in order to take the right actions you have to have the right thoughts that will drive those actions . As I was gathering the notes for this episode , I found that there was a lot of people that were saying that this reduces stress . So the act of visualization is kind of like a stress reliever .
So imagining kind of a positive outcome can kind of calm your mind and reduce the anxiety that often comes with running a business and , obviously , managing a family . And the last thing is that it keeps you motivated . So when you have this vivid picture of what your goals look like , it keeps you focused and driven , even when it's tough .
So even when you have setbacks , it kind of builds this resilience so you can actually keep going and keep your eye on the prize . So now I want to give you some steps that you can take to start visualizing and start kind of creating that vision for your life and business .
Now that we kind of know why visualization is important , let's go through the steps to actually make it effective . So step number one is by setting clear , specific goals . What exactly do you want to achieve ? Be as detailed as possible , and this is not the time to think about the present moment where you are and what's possible .
The present moment where you are and what's possible , it's really about digging deep down inside and truly visualizing what it is that you want . Step two is one where you're going to have to come back to this and listen to it again , where you can put yourself in an environment to actually do this . So this is when you start engaging all your senses .
So engage your senses into this visualization process . What do you see , what do you hear , what do you smell , taste and feel in this future scenario ? The more senses you involve , the more real it will feel . So step number three is practice . Make visualization a daily habit . The more you practice , the stronger the neural pathways in your brain become .
Step number four is to maintain a positive mindset and stay persistent . Even when you have setbacks , keep visualizing your success . Now , it's not going to be like this every day .
You're going to have bad days , you're going to feel like you're not moving in the direction that you want to go , but that's why the daily practice of visualization is so important because it will keep your mind focused on your vision . So now let's explore some techniques and tools to help you with your visualization practice .
So number one is something that a lot of people do and that is a vision board . So vision boards are a really great visual aid . Gathering like images and words that really represent your goals and kind of arrange them in a board where you can see them daily is a great way to keep it at the top of your mind . I've done this in Canva . They're super easy .
There's even templates that already have kind of like the format or the like arrangement of a vision board , so you can just like plug in your pictures or anything . That's super easy to do and it's something that you can print out or you can have on your desktop .
I've had it on my desktop for a while and I have to say that this was kind of hard at the beginning because it's almost like I didn't want to put that out there , like I didn't want to feel like I put all this work together and then to kind of see nothing progress .
I thought was going to be like really hard for me , but in reality it was the opposite . It was something that was like a constant reminder and , like I said , it's this the taking the actions , because you're constantly thinking about it , so you're finding the opportunities and you're working through that process .
That is what actually , you know , creates that vision for you . So having that visual aid is super important . I've actually gone back to kind of look at my past vision boards and I kind of have them in order and I've checked off the things that we've actually accomplished and it's really amazing and feels super good to do that .
And some of the things have been like minor things that I kind of put on there because I thought , well , you know , it probably is achievable .
But then there were like really big things , like leaving our full-time jobs especially my husband's , because that was the one that we were really working on for a long time and having checked off that like vision of us as a family going to Maui , for example , on vacation , because my husband didn't have to go to work anymore , he didn't have to check in anymore
or use up his vacation time and me either , having checked that off felt super good , and we did that last year . Another thing that you can do is guided imagery . So guided imagery is an exercise that can be done online . There's apps that you can use . Videos that kind of guide you through the visualization process .
So if you're not a very creative person and you're like I'm just going to like stare at the screen for a while , there's actually guided imagery exercises that you can do . Also , journaling your visualization is another great practice . You write down your goals and the details of your visualization . This really reinforces your mental images and tracks your progress .
So , in conjunction with the vision board , you can journal . So that way you kind of take care of all of the different areas of your brain to actually help you achieve your goals . So now let's do a very short guided visualization exercise together .
Now , if you're driving , please don't do this , because I'm going to ask you to close your eyes so you can come back to this . Like I said , create an environment for yourself .
Go get some coffee , find a really nice cozy spot in your house , and then you can do this so it can kind of help with your imagery , right , help with coming up with that future vision for yourself in a comfortable way . So close your eyes and take a deep breath . Imagine yourself a year from now Having achieved your biggest goal . Picture where you are .
What are you doing ? How do you feel ? Engage all your senses and immerse yourself in this future reality . Hold on to this image for a few moments . How was that Now ?
Of course , you could take more time to do this , but it really puts you in a place to kind of let go of the noise and really help you immerse yourself in the moment that you want to be .
