Episode description

In this episode Briana and Sara discuss the many ways that experiencing trauma in childhood can have negative effects across the lifespan. They discuss the areas of the brain that are most impacted by trauma before introducing the ACEs, or Adverse Childhood Experiences Study. They share out some of the groundbreaking research done by the ACEs research team that shows how trauma in childhood can lead to significant health or emotional issues later on in life. Lastly, they share how protective factors can help curb some of these negative health outcomes.
