Wow, Hey everybody, It's Tuesday, October fifteen, one twenty four. Welcome to the NFL Fantasy Football Show, right, I didn't come up with anything forever to start us off with me.
Your man MG Marcus Grant, joined by Michael F.
Flooryo and Lakwan Jones, and we are turning the page from week six and getting ready to go to week seven. Lakwan, through six weeks, how much do we think we know about fantasy football?
We know a little bit more better than what we knew about three weeks ago. Like we're on the cusp of like where we're right, we're wrong, Like we're still trying to figure things out. But I think we're in a good spot most for most of our takes.
Yeah, I think so.
I don't know, Florida were feeling good about our takes through six weeks.
I'm feeling better about my takes than my own fantasy teams. I'll say that.
Our own advice, my takes are hit or miss my teams.
After a rough start to the season, they're finally starting to come around, which basically the players that I believed in are starting to either you know, get healthy, get hot, or whatever.
So I'm feeling better about some of my priors.
You know, I just wish that I hadn't started like, you know, zero to four or one and three in a few leagues, because now we climb is steep, yep to.
The back to where I want to go. It's rough anyway.
On today's show, we got some big questions heading into week seven and beyond. Also some waiver wire deep dives and folks we are putting back into the free agency pool. But let's get started with some of the big questions, things that we thought we'd learned after Week six and Florio in the NF or the AFC East. Rather, the Patriots turned to their rookie quarterback Drake May and ended up statistically with a pretty good day. Had three touchdown passes.
A lot of them came late when the game was pretty much in control for the Houston text.
But with what you saw, is Drake May going to be a thing this year?
Yeah? Like he is not going to be a quarterback that you just set and forget in your lineup. But I do think there's upside here where he could become someone that you start weekly or at the very worst, someone that you stream at the right matchups and stuff. Two hundred and forty three passing yards, I know, two interceptions,
but three touchdowns. And then he led the Patriots with thirty eight rushing yards, and that is something that I do not think gets enough talking point, like he can run, he adds value with his legs and this, yeah, you could say it came in a blowout. Most Patriot games are going to be blowouts this year. And then it was a very difficult opponent, like the Texans defense is legit next week a little bit. I know it's in London when the Jacks have already been there, but it's
a soft landing spot with the Jags. So I don't know if I'm gonna be plugging him in and starting him in any of my teams, but like two quarterback leagues for sure. Oh you could take a shot on him there.
Yeah.
I was putting together my list of names for the Sleepers column this week, and that matchup against the Jaguar stood out to me. May definitely a candidate for two QB leagues, I guess, maybe really deep leagues. I don't know if you're in like a sixteen team league or something like that. Drake May is definitely a candidate, but as you mentioned, the rushing yards or going to be what's key for him going forward. Lakwan, Mark Andrews scored a real life, honest to goodness touchdown in a National
Football League regular season game. It seemed impossible after the first five weeks of the season, but here we are.
So does this mean Mark Andrews is back?
Yes, things are starting to heat up. I mean when you're looking at a route share, the back to back weeks of a healthy one where he's actually being targeted. When he's out there running those routes, he's not just cardio king anymore. You know, he's going out there and actually earning these targets. And I think for the next couple of weeks, this is something where Mark Andrews starts
to heat up as it gets colder outside. I think this is where we kind of are thankful that we sat tight and not just dump them to the wire. But I really think, you know, once the weeks progress, we're going to start seeing him get more red zone looks because Isaiah likely you saw that one red zone
you know, target that he had last week. I mean last week that Lamar Jackson kind of just outright missed him, but when the next play happened, Mark Andrews ended up connecting getting that touchdown, And I think Lamar Jackson and Mark Andrews are back as the duo that we knew they were.
I mean, it was nice to see the four targets there, still behind likely in terms of snaps, but a lot more rout participation for Mark Andrews.
The target numbers were up, so maybe I mean, look.
I know we have the car accident in the offseason and the Ravens said it wasn't a big deal, but you do kind of have to wonder with the way they've used him, maybe it was a bigger deal than they were letting you on and maybe just maybe he's starting to come back around after that Ah Florio in New Orleans, Spencer Ratler gets the start and it was up and down. There were some good moments, there were some frustrating moments.
In the end. Saints ended up losing big and.
Are now kind of in a bit of a free fall with this team after a quick start to the season. But we talked about Drake May and the fact that you could use him in two quarterback situations with Derek Carr out for at least a week or two more. Is Spencer Rattler a viable streaming start for anybody?
I don't think so. Two hundred and forty three yards of passing, touchdown, two inns and twenty seven rushing yards. I see that there's potential there. I think if you're in a two quarterback league and you've been weak at your second quarterback spot or something like that, you could go ahead.
And add him.
But he gets the Broncos on a short week with likely without Chrystal Lava, and I know that Broncos are likely without Pat Certan, but still a very tough matchup, probably going to be a low scoring one, not one that I'm interested in really getting much pieces of that game at all into my fantasy lineup, Like obviously you start having Kamara, But besides that, there's not many Saints I feel great about, and on the other side, there's
how many Broncos I feel great about? So uh yeah, maybe just an upside shot you take in a two quarterback league, but not one that you gotta plug into your lineup right away.
Yeah.
I was gonna ask about that, la Quand I mean the Chris o'lave left with a concussion on Sunday. Will see what his status is we get further into the week, I mean, is there anybody else, I mean, someone named bub Means caught a touchdown in this past week. I'm still not convinced that this is a real person, but the Internet is telling me that it is. I mean, anybody here that you could make a case for.
With Ratler at quarterback, b Means definitely is real, and I think the connection between him and Ratler is real as well. I mean, like, honestly, I was really tuned into this Saints Bucks game, and like I honestly was watching it more than the Ravens Commanders game. Not saying that game wasn't great, but you kind of see the frequency of this offense at Rattler in there, and Bud Means was that frequency frequency of getting that offense to
be able to go downfield? And you kind of have to think, like, were these guys connecting a lot in summer camp and summer camp over in camp in mini camp, and I feel like it was definitely transitioning to what we saw on the field last week. And I think, you know what means, He's a player. Man, he's real and I think he could be an option. Chrysol lobby is going to be missing some time.
I mean, you're not totally wrong, right. It happens in the summer. They go, they sleep in dorms, they do outdoor activities. They have seen building exercises like you.
Know, marshmallows and stuff.
Right, it's summer camp in its own way.
I mean, I hear about guys like getting together playing video games.
It's like that. You know, they probably sing songs too. Somewhere along the way. I don't know, maybe baby, they could maybe a little kickball eat they eat.
The eating caffet ceias like you're really onto something here. Maybe we should just start calling it summer camp.
But I'm gonna call it summer camp now up.
From here on out, It's now summer camp. Everybody.
Let's dive into some deep waiver Wire dives. Here for more of our waiver Wire stuff. Of course, you can check out our Monday show and you go and subscribe and have that show up in your feed every week.
Of course, there is.
Also the waiver Wire column you can find IDNFL dot com slash waiver Wire. But lakwan if we are diving deep and trying to find help for folks. So where it is thin, who should somebody take a look at?
Top priority? If you're a Jordan Mason shareholder, just based on Isaiah Grendo's performance last week, I mean, it's an obvious plug and play situation here. It's a Kyle Shanahan system, So you want one of these running backs back there that are going to be explosive and make the big plays. And I think he could honestly house that one. But you know, it's for the game. You know, he kind
of sat sat down on that. But I really think if Jordan Mason is going to be week to week, you need somebody out of that backfield because they're obviously going to perform at a high level. So it doesn't really matter who they put back there. I'm pretty sure you put me back there. I could put up fifty yards. Like that's how great this Kyle Shanahan running game is.
I mean it has been great.
I mean to the point that I was like, well, if I started looking on Thursday night and Friday, oh what happens if Jordan Masonye, this is some time. I'm like, is Patrick Taylor going to be a deep dive waiver wire option. I mean, that's that's sort of where we are. It sounds like it may not be that serious that the Mason should be available coming up this week against the Chiefs. But you know, you're right Kyle Shanahan running back.
It just feels like, all right, well you got at least give him a shot because that's just sort of how things we go.
You think I could put a fifty yards back there?
I mean I think I could no.
Straight because I think you can put up like a successful first run. How are you getting up after getting hit? That's the question.
I mean, come on, well, the point is not to get hit.
I'm trying to take a fifty yard to the house.
Twitter.
Twitter does this. Twitter does this argument like once a month, Like what are we doing? Like, No, Florida, who is your waiver wire deep dive this week?
Mine is a player that I'm I'm guessing a lot of our listeners either just learned or maybe still haven't ever heard of. But Grant cal Kata the backup tight end behind Dallas Goddard on the Philadelphia Eagles because Dallas Goddard was ruled out very early in this game with a hamstring injury and the quickness of how they were just like, yeah, he's not coming back.
That worries me.
And if we've seen hamstring injuries linger this season, AJ Brown being one. So if Goddard missed his time and you're in a deep league or you're just in a pinch at tight end, don't overlook the fact that cal Kata was second on the Eagles in targets. He tied DeVonta Smith with four targets. AJ Brown had nine, but he was second with four catches and with sixty seven yards. That's double digit fantasy points, which for a tight end in a PPR league, like you could do a whole
lot worse than that. Obviously the floor is low, and this was like an in game adjustment and stuff. But I play in some deep leagues where I need tight ends and he is a name that I I look, it's him or it's like even like Tyler Conklin is rostered in these leagues, So yeah, you're getting real deep. So yeah, I think he is a deep tight end that you could take a flyer on if Dallas Goddard misses time.
Yeah, I mean that's definite something to keep an eye on because you know, it's nice to see the tight ends start to produce a little bit more.
But now potentially losing Dallas Goddard is a hit.
I mean, I guess you could try like Jatavian Sanders or something, but yeah.
Yeah, the it's not a bad option, but the offense.
I mean, if I'm picking between offenses, I'd rather have a piece of the Eagles offense than the Panthers offense at this point. So I know a lot this offseason, a lot of us were big on Camani Vidal. I drafted him in a lot of spots, especially in Best Ball leagues, only to see him be a healthy scratch for the first few weeks of the season with Gus
Edwards out. In Week six, Vidal got his opportunity. First time he touches the ball in the NFL game, he scores a touchdown on a wheel route, looking very Austin Eckler ish out there.
Wearing the number thirty.
You gotta a shorter guy, maybe a little bit chunkier than Austin Eckler, but I just had Eckler vibes with him getting those opportunities. We'll keep an eye on Edwards's situation see what how serious his injury is and how long it's going to keep him out. And look, understand that right now JK. Dobbins has that RB one spot on lock. He looked very good this past week against the Denver Broncos, so he's.
Not getting moved out of that.
But maybe what we saw out of a down means there's a chance for him to get more touches. I think a lot of us believe he would get those opportunities. But then again, we all believe that thinking that JK. Dobbins might not have much left in the tank, So maybe we have to sort of reevaluate a little bit. But if you are in need of a running back, and if Gus Edwards is not going to be healthy
anytime soon, comminey. But that looks like he's gonna have some real opportunity for Jim Harbos team in Los Angeles. So as always, if we are adding folks, we were also saying goodbye to people.
Good the Quand moment.
We love a moment of silence here for you because this is I know this is a hard this is a hard day for you.
So a moment of silence for the Quand at the moment.
This is terrible, Like I didn't even want to write this on the show dot Like it's coming to reality, Like the bulldozers are approaching Doorschlane, Like we are not paying rent this month. We are going to just everything down because Greg dorts can no longer be on my roster. It's painful at this point because the sickening in me. I keep going to him when I have a wide receiver that's questionable or a wide receiver that's out with an injury. I'm like, all right, Greg, you got me
this week. And no, there's a guy named Xavier Weaver out snapping him right now, and I'm like, yeah, the bulldozers they're here. The dorschlane is done.
Savior Weaver, who you know, had had a nice season last year at Colorado, I mean he was you know, Oh, I mean here's look, I mean like overshadowed, overshadowed of Colorado by Travis Hunter and shruduer standards. But that was one of their better receivers. And now here's to be pushing Greg Dortsch to the side. It is tough day, man, Like nobody wants to admit that, you know, one of their hot takes.
Was wrong.
So I'm proud of you for admitting it. I understand it's a you know, we respect your privacy during this difficult time for sure, for sure than you.
Wow.
I honestly you would think I looked at the show sheet before, like we actually did the show. But this, like I saw this, I've just seen this for the first.
Time, Flora. This caught me up off guard a little bit.
I I originally so the name is DeAndre Hopkins. I originally had Calvin Ridley, who impressively put up zeros across the board on eighth targets, but then he came out and he had some fiery words. Is like, yeah, maybe there's a Squeaky Wheel game in his future. Although he had eight targets, so I mean they at least threw him the ball. De hop has outproduced Calvin Ridley, but the floor is insanely low right now for both of these guys, and we really haven't seen much upside out
of Hopkins yet. I still can can convince myself that there's some upside of here with Calvin Ridley. But I think the answer is you just don't want any part of the Titans passing game right now, Like coming into this summer. I know I spoke up Will Levis. I know, uh like I don't want to say anyone else did, but other people as well.
I don't want to under the bus, but we believed, and I know we were, like Will Levis might not be good for real life, but he will be good for fantasy because of the way they let him play last year, and they just have taken that completely.
Out of his game. Like Will Levis is chaos and they are trying to control that chaos and it is just completely backfiring because we're still getting all the bad plays, but now we're losing all the deep throws and stuff that he gave us last season. So unless they just let him go out and just be complete chaos, which I think we're closer to seeing Mason Rudolph than we are that version of Will Levis. That's where we're at right now, where Mason Rudolph might need to be what
comes in and saves these wide receivers. I just I don't trust this Titans passing attack at all, and their run game in defense being so good makes it even worse because they stay close in games where they're not just having to air it out in the second half like we thought they.
Might have to.
Yeah, I thought this past week was gonna be a Will Levis week going against the Colts. I'm like, if there's every week for him to get going, this is it. And he threw like a touchdown relatively early in the game. I'm like, it's happening.
It wasn't happening at all.
I was ready to shout you out, man. I thought I thought it was happening.
I thought it was happening.
Ninety five yard, sixteen completions for ninety five yards. That is gross for Will Levs. That's gonna be tough, man. It's gonna be tough for any.
Of the wide receivers there to do anything. For me.
I think it's it's probably time to part ways with Jerome. Ford suffered an injury on Sunday for the Browns. Right now, the reports are he's going to be weak to weak and looming in the distance is one Nicholas Jamal Chubb ready to come back and start running the football for
the Browns. Look, mind you, when Chubb comes back, I wouldn't expect him to get a full workload, but he's gonna get enough opportunity and as he continues to get healthier and stronger, he's going to get more and more touches. There's gonna be less and less room for Jerome Ford to get opportunities. But again having having him miss time is also suboptimal.
By the way.
You can also if you haven't said goodbye to deioncee Foreman, you could have done that a while ago too. So what I mean, can you can? You cannot have him anymore too too. That's that's also a possibility.
Here with Chubb coming back.
It's just it's hard to see room for enough guys there in Cleveland, and especially with the offense being so bad right now, It's just it's hard for multiple guys to be successful in that Browns offense for sure.
So there you go. Those are the guys that we are all putting back on the waiver wire.
In the meantime, we're gonna hang it up at least for a day or so and then come back with you for the Wednesday show. That will do it for this edition of the NFL Fantasy Football Podcast. They happy, safe and healthy, do.
Good and live well. Enjoy the days, everybody. We'll talk to you again tomorrow.
