Paintings, Drawings, Sculpture, and Design from students enrolled in beginning HCC-NW Studio Art Courses at Spring Branch, Alief-Hayes Road, and Katy campuses. Houston artist and Willowridge High School art teacher Shekita Thornton will select the outstanding student works and HCC professors will, by consensus, choose the Faculty Award recipient.

The Houston-based Kazoku Quartet is a classical saxophone ensemble devoted to high-quality chamber music that can be enjoyed by all. The diverse backgrounds of the four members (Daniel Gelok, Eleanor Parker, Masahito Sugihara, and Evan Withner) and the various demands of the greater Houston area musical scene have established a dynamic ensemble which regularly performs in classical, jazz, folk, and pop idioms. The Annual Visual Arts Fest is a day for area high school students and art faculty to visit the HCC Visual Art Program, experience art-making in its extensive studio facilities, and interact with college art faculty through, workshops, portfolio reviews and college information sessions.

Cecilia Villanueva | Impossible Architecture Cecilia was born and raised in Mexico City. She brings both world history and imagination to her work. Her training began when her father, an architect, would give Cecilia blueprints to draw on. He thought she would use the large size paper to draw on the back, but she instead chose to spend hours tracing the intricate tracery of blue lines on the front of the paper. Celan Bouillet is a mixed media artist currently based in Houston, Texas. Inspired by travel, textiles and our relationship to place, Bouillet creates paintings with complex narratives and dense patterns. Bouillet received her BA in English and BFA in Painting from the University of Georgia and her MFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2013. Drawing from both his diesel mechanic father and classical singer mother, Jason Valdez grew up with a skill and an attitude which led to his recent thesis “The Vocational Artist” earning him his Masters of Fine Arts from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Many of his paintings portray the working class. He is an Assistant Professor of Art and Gallery Director at Victoria College.

Monday Night Big Band with guest artist Larry Ham The award-winning HCC Monday Night Big Band, under the direction of Dr. Woody Witt, performs with guest pianist, composer and arranger, Larry Ham.
