Y'all how crazy. Um, I have a little cold, so you'll have to excuse my stuffy nose and if I'm sniffle in , um, or if I have to pause and restart my recording, it may sound a little choppy because you're girl life update real quick. I moved to San Antonio at the end of July, and this happens like with every new city, especially here in Texas. Um, allergies are such a thing here. So I how's of allergies. I have a sinus infection hoping it's nothing worse, but I feel good. I feel great.

And I'm here. I'm here to pour into you today and I can't wait for you to receive this message. Today's episode is for my entrepreneurs, who are my entrepreneurs out there? Who are y'all I know you're out there. I know probably 90% of y'all or are entrepreneurs running a business and probably have a nine to five. Okay. So what I want to say is how low to everyone do you listening? Hi guys.

Um, I am so passionate about this topic because if you don't know, for the past three years, up until recently, I was building my business while working my corporate job. And I'm going to share a little bit of my story if you don't know my background, just because I reference it so much. And if you do know me, if you follow me, if you're my friend , um, it'll sound familiar, but it'll be good reminders.

What I want to talk about , um , in today's episode, because you'll I, and I'm not going to fluff this up. I, you know, I , I, I believe this is a beautiful journey. It's a hard journey. Um, it's challenging, but it's so dang worth it. I'm going to be real raw and authentic. I'm going to, I'm going to talk about the challenges. I'm going to talk about sacrifice time and management, but I'm gonna talk about mindset. Y'all know. I love my mindset.

I'm going to talk about some tips I'm going to share with y'all. So today's episode is going to be amazing. I promise you my entrepreneurs. You're going to take something good away from this. Okay. So before we dive in, y'all know how I like to start each episode. And that is with affirmations. If you're new here , um, affirmations, these are, I call them. I am statements . They can be any statement.

Affirmations

Um, and these are life changing . Okay? And there's magic when you say them out loud. So what I like to do is do a guided, like affirmation , um , piece only start the podcast. So if you would just repeat after me, but before we do, let's just take a deep breath in wherever we are. Take a deep breath in Hold and release. I always say like, breathe in the good and release the bad, all that good energy, take it in and let go of the stress. The worry, the fear.

Just come to now, come to this present moment where you're able to absorb and receive this message to learn and to grow these next 15 minutes. Sound good. Okay. I want you to repeat after me. I am a successful business owner. I am a smart and intelligent business woman. I am abundant in my business. I am attracting all the right clients to my business. I have infinite potential in growing my business.

Sharing my story

I am grateful for all the success coming my way. I am helping so many people with my products and services. My success comes naturally to me, Take a deep breath in, Let it out. How do y'all feel? Those were powerful, freaking affirmations. Dang. I loved those. I loved putting those together for y'all. So let's kick off today's episode. I'm going to share my story if y'all would allow me. And if you've heard it, sorry guys.

But I think it's just so important because I've learned so much in, in sharing my story. I really feel like going to serve you. Kay . If you don't know me, y'all this woman I am today. The motivation babe Hills, you know, this version of me is this version of me was always within me. I just didn't know it yet. So look, I went to college and I went directly into the corporate world. I moved to Austin, Texas. I went to a law firm. I was pre-law undergrad.

And I got sucked into the corporate world, which I was going to pursue the corporate ladder. I was in human resources, working for tech companies and Austin. Um, you know, I, I thought I was making it. I thought it was good, but, but I always referenced this. Like, there's good. And there's great. And it was good. Um , one so grateful for the opportunities.

I had the colleagues, the mentors, the friendships I've made in the corporate world and everything I had learned, but something, just, something was just Missy to y'all. I was climbing the corporate ladder and it was probably year four or five, four in the corporate world. And I just, man, it was really on my heart. It was on my mind. Something was missing. I wanted to do more. I want it to impact. I want it to create change and legacy.

Me and I was a big dreamer, you know, and I, something was just missing. I'll never forget. I was in my cubicle surrounded by these three little gray walls. I'm literally visualizing this right now. I had the computer screens in front of me. I was like doing data in HR, which was so boring. Okay. And I thought, no way, no way, no way. This is it. I, I wanted more, you know, this was in 2018 and I was watching YouTube burgers .

You know, I do a little bit about social media, but I was not the social media girl. I was, I'd never used Instagram, hardly used Facebook. Um, I was, I, I just got a Twitter this year. Y'all okay. Like I was not the social media girl, but I knew that the people I did see utilize, it had a life. I wanted a life of freedom of creativity of , I was like, you know, dang, how do they do it? Like how , how can I get a taste of what they have?

So , um, the resourceful side of me grabs my phone and I Google. I literally Google how to make money from my phone, how to make money from the internet. X, Y, and Z led me to Instagram, the platform I never use . I probably didn't even know my password to like log in. Okay. I had less than 300 followers and I started looking up hashtags to network with people. Okay. If I wasn't happy with my life, I needed to find people who were doing what I wanted to do and learn from them.

Yeah. It makes sense. And I found my mentor. I'll never forget watching her. She was living out in California at the time. It was this one post deal is one post. She was like having like a two o'clock lunch. She had her laptop out the glass of wine

Reflection of the past 3 years

and she posts working from wifi . And I was in my office and I was like, that's it. I want that. I want that life. I deserve that life. What the heck are you doing? And here I am. I joined, Maneet my network marketing company, August 8th, 2018. And it changed my life. Oh, I could cry. The life I live right now is old because I said, yes. I said yes to this business. I held onto my vision. I worked through the challenges. I never quit. And I live a life of freedom in three years of sacrifice.

I'm here today, living the dream life I visualize for three years. Let's talk about this though. Y'all how I got here. Three years, three years felt like a lifetime. Let me just say that three years it went by fast, but also went by really slow. The minute I got a taste of the opportunity of freedom, of impact of income , um, uh, working from wherever I wanted more. Um, and I , I jumped all in, you know, my first goal and I want to talk about goals in a little bit.

The first of all I had was I wanted to make $300 just to leave my , my weekend job because while I was working my nine to five , um , I was living in Austin, which is like the new LA so expensive. And I had

Deciding what you want & your long term goals

to supplement my income by bartending at night time at a few bars in my area. And then on the weekend, I would work Saturday, Sunday for promo companies doing wine, liquor, beer or events . And , um, I was getting real old roll fast . I was tired y'all so I was like , um , look, if I can leave a , my, my weekend gig, that would be awesome. You know, I , I was scared to dream big. I didn't have the confidence in myself.

That's what I mean, like this person before you, you have listening to you right now, like you're listening to me. Um, she was always there, but the saying yes to my business gave me all the confidence in the world to really step into this life. Okay. So when I got a taste, when I dipped my toes in the water, I saw all the success of others and their impact and their influence and just lives changed. I decided I wanted that and I went all in and y'all, here's the thing.

If you're a building a business and you're, you're working, full-time you have to decide what you want. You can't teeter-totter. And I was talking about that last episode. You can't teeter-totter and say, oh, I want this. And you know, I'm good here. Look, it's no, your long-term goal. If your long-term goal is to climb your corporate ladder, to be the supervisor, the director, or the whatever of your company, that's amazing. Do that, allow your side, hustle your , your business to fulfill.

If it's going to be a savings, vacation fund, emergency fund. Okay. But know your goals, know exactly what you're doing in these different areas of your life. And if your goal was similar to my goal, I want to go all in on my business. I want to build my freaking empire. I want to leave corporate. Okay. That was my goal. It was black and white. And let me tell y'all. When I started in August, 2018, I wanted to leave December. I want to retire myself December of 2018. Did it happen?

No. I had to push that timeline out. Probably I did it again in 2019 twice had to push it out again. 2020 rolls around, had to push

Sacrifice

it out again. Um, and I was able to retire back in may of 2021 finally happened, which is really important. Um, be flexible with your timeline, know your goals, but be flexible with the timeline because it's not your timeline. It's God, it's the universe. It's everything coming together for you. So patience is so important on that in the middle of this process, y'all two things I can share with you.

Two things of how you can run and build your dream business while working your nine to five sacrifice and time management. You need to know these two things and be so comfortable around them, navigating around sacrifice and time management. Allow me to dive deeper sacrifice. This is not a scary word. We've only been conditioned to think it is. Listen to me says sacrifice is just a temporary. It's just temporary change for long term gain. Okay?

Sacrifice is necessary when you're accomplishing big things in life. Think about it. When we were in school, studying late nights, right? To pass our tests, mama's out there. Can I cook all my mamas ? Can I just like clap for you? The only amazing taking care of your children and your babies sacrificing sleep. Anyone who's been on a diet before trying to lose weight. That's a sacrifice, cleaning up your diet, go into the gym. Look, sacrifice is a necessary thing in life and it's not scary.

It's not bad. It just is. It just is. And when you can accept that, when you can embrace that, that is when you will begin to shift your mindset. Remember y'all might set shifts. We're reprogramming the way we think about things in our favor. Okay. And I'll break it down for you. So it's not so scary. Okay. I'll start here. Start here. One hour, one hour, a day, sacrifice one hour a day.

When you're building your business, you either get up an hour early or you go to sleep an hour late back in the day. Your girl was a night owl. So I stayed up till midnight, almost every single day. Monday through Friday, I would work my eight to five and I would go home, hop on trainings, team calls. One-on-ones from six to midnight. Okay. So I sacrificed my late nights to build my business. To help me get to where I'm at.

You may have to sacrifice weekends, not every weekend, don't worry, but maybe Saturday morning to hop on a training, maybe your Sunday nights to prepare for your week to get your content in order, maybe you have to sacrifice date night. I just thought it was hard. It took a lot of communication with my partner. Okay. So sacrifice is it's important in your growth and your business, but make sure to communicate

Time Management

with those around you and your loved ones yell . They're going to understand they're going to see what you're doing. Okay. So all I say is the time you take away from them or, you know, everything else, just when you have the time to give back, just be so present, you know, give it your 110% and it's going to be Gucci. You're going to be fine. You remember sacrifice this temporary and look sacrifice is in order to change your life, it's going to be necessary.

If I could just say this, y'all eat sacrifice and just show up. Even when you don't feel like it, because those are the moments that will matter the most show up. Even when you don't feel like it . I promise that's where you grow. That's where you push yourself. And that's where the magic is. Now. Let's talk time management. Yo, we need to start treating our businesses like million dollar businesses. Okay? So no more side hustle business. This is a, this is a real business.

This is your business. This is your empire. And it is going to be your million dollar business. So I'm going to ask you, how would you treat a million dollar business? Who would you be? How would you run your day? How would you be organized? How would you prioritize, tap into that version of you limited. I'm gonna call you out real quick. This , if you're not, if you're not using Google calendar, apple calendar, a planner right there. That is your first at your first area of improvement.

Okay. You need to have better time management. If you feel like you don't have the time to run your business, do your nine to five and treble the family. And you're thinking about quitting. Don't quit. I'm going to repeat, do not quit on your daydream. Okay? Just focus on time management and get better organized. Okay. So how you can have a four time management. Y'all you're going to put everything into your Google calendar for the moment you wake up to. When you have your lunch.

When you eat dinner, when you're going to do your personal development, your team calls your meetings, your trainings. Listen to the biggest excuse I hear in my business is, oh shoot, I missed the call. I missed the call. I missed the training. If you put it into your calendar, you'll never miss another call. Think about it. If you were a salary employee at an office and your manager, your supervisor had a training for you and you just didn't show up. Um, think you would have a job still.

It's the same principle. It's the same concept. Listen, I've been in my business over three years and I still hop on a training, call a call almost every single day. I don't go longer than two or three days without hopping on a call because that is where we learn. Okay. So make sure to have time management and listen. Maybe you can't hop on every training. You can't be as present. So just know how to, what you can say yes. To what you can say no to and work off your calendar and

Goals and Growth Mindset

prioritize your life in time management. Y'all don't forget to fill your cup up. Looking back on my past three years, you know, I get tunnel vision and I'm sure I'm not alone when you have tunnel vision and you're just going, go and going, okay. Make sure you're giving yourself. You're putting. If you've got to put it into your calendar, you know your yourself care Sunday, your 10 minute meditation in the morning, you're journaling your gratitude, your affirmations.

Make sure that you are managing your time with yourself. Because when you pour into your cup, you can then pour into others. That's a really quick little , uh , talk on time management. And now I'm going to talk a little bit about mindset because y'all know me. I love mindset. We talked about mindset shifts already in terms of sacrifice, right? It's not bad. It's it's it, it just is. And it's temporary.

But listen , in the beginning of building your business, you're going to have, there's going to be this. You're going to have a goal mindset. Okay? And there's this other mindset called a growth mindset. Your goal mindset is going to be, it's a , it's amazing. It's where you're going to thrive. You're going to be hitting your promotions. You're going to be hitting your bonuses. You're going to be making sales. You're going to be, you know, it's going to be amazing.

You're going to have some goals and your goals are going to get bigger and bigger. And that's awesome. But remember your goals don't and you will achieve, you know, if it's a thousand dollars, if it's $5,000, if it's , um , the promotion you're going to achieve at all and they just keep happening goals and growth, y'all are two things I want you to be so aware of because while you're achieving your goals, you need to make sure you're also growing with them.

Your growth mindset is when you begin to realize this is amazing. I'm accomplishing these goals, but I feel myself changing. I feel like I'm a different person. My personal development, my professional growth, the impact I have on others. This is my new high. So a goal mindset and the growth mindset. I feel in the beginning, we all have this goal mindset and it's amazing. And it's fun and thrive off of it, but just be aware of how can I go into growth mindset?

How can I get a high off of who I'm becoming and what I'm doing for others? And how can I grow more? Because when you focus on a growth mindset, your goals will be accomplished. But if you're just specifically focused on goals and you're not worrying about your growth, that's going to be an issue for you down the road. Because let me tell you that three years

3 Tips

goals, it's just like the growth means so much more. The growth is what keeps me going. Okay. And if you're in the growth mindset, don't forget about your goals. I also found myself in that trap where I was just on this growth journey. And it's also really important that we accomplish our goals. I hope that makes sense.

Um, if you want to learn more, John Maxwell has an amazing, amazing book called Leadershift where he talks about these two mindsets of goals and growth mindset and just Google it. And I'm sure you can go read more about it, learn more, but it's still amazing. Especially if you've been doing this for two plus years , uh , building your business, working your nine to five, I say, go learn more about goals and growth. Go read John. Leadershift cool.
