In Episode 5 Dr. Lithgow talks about the different forms of AKG and why  they chose to go with CaAKG. He also touches on the difficulty in doing  the kind of head to head studies that would be able to see if either was  more effective.  

Dr. Gordon Lithgow, is a professor and vice president of Academic  Affairs at the Buck Institute. Dr. Lithgow's research focuses on  uncovering genes and small molecules that prolong lifespan through  enhanced molecular stability. Dr. Lithgow has been recognized with a  Glenn Award for Research in Biological Mechanisms of Aging and the Tenovus Award for Biomedical Research.
