The mitochondria are not just the powerhouse of the cell; they are the engines that run our entire body. If we can remove the obstructions to energy production (calcification, lipofuscin and fibrosis) everything works better, we experience mental clarity and emotional resilience.

In this Q&A I answer listener questions including: Is there a limit for magnesium absorption in one sitting? How many mg would that be? Solutions for irritable bowel disease? Apparently farmers are finding boxes of ticks - alpha gal, etc concerns? Supplements for kids? Whats been your experience seeing the chiropractor? Natural ways to balance hormones beyond diet and environmental factors? What health product do you wish existed? What do I feed my cats and how do I take care of them? My web...
By popular request after years of interviewing several different women and getting their perspectives on how to create healthy babies, I decided to create a solo show dedicated to the topic. While I don't talk about iron at all in this show, and several other nutrients and supplements that can support a healthy pregnancy, I highlight vitamin K2 and melatonin. I also talk about vitamin E and why fears about pregnant women supplementing it are unfounded, how I view the four fat soluble vitamins, t...
Strap in your seatbelt and buckle up because this is nearly three hour show is an interview that I did with Vanessa Lopez over on her podcast Intentionally Well. She asked many excellent questions and had me break down the nuts and bolts of my CLF Protocol, which stands for calcification, lipofuscin and fibrosis. I talk about how every DM I get on social media about a rare health condition i've never heard of relates back to one of those three accumulations in the body. I also talked about burno...
In our fast paced world it is easier than ever to be burned out. High testosterone and motivated individuals like myself are more susceptible to burning the candle at both ends and wearing ourselves thin. In this episode I share what I am doing to recover from three years of unrelenting nonstop stressors. I don't talk about the details of my personal life because people use that as ammunition against me, but you can read between the lines when I talk about my experiences. For the first half of t...
In this episode, Matt Blackburn makes a case for the health benefits of smoking cigars, distinguishing them from cigarettes. He explores unique compounds like cembranoid diterpenes, highlighting their neuroprotective, antiviral, and antifungal properties, and discusses tobacco's effects on hormones, metabolism, and immune function. Blackburn also outlines essential supplements (Vitamin C, E, melatonin, zinc) and therapies that can mitigate potential negative effects, and touches on tobacco's historical antiparasitic uses.
The topic of fluoride is a big one so this is just an introductory show about why I personally use it and question the health educators that say nobody should use ever it. Rather than dive into studies in this show, I talk about the advantage of fluorapatite over hydroxyapatite and how utilizing sodium fluoride topically provides all day protection from acid attacks and demineralization of the enamel. I talk about the roles of magnesium and vitamin K2 in regulating oral health, why I chew xylito...
In this month's Q&A show, I answer questions in a rapid fire fashion. Listener questions include: How we keep our animals flea free? What do I recommend for postpartum hair loss? Any updates on my mold situation? Can you take Dissolve It All (Mitolife systemic enzymes) at the same time as other supplements? What are my favorite supplements and practices for liver health? What do I think about peptides? How do you correct a zinc and copper imbalance? What are my biggest regrets in my health j...
There is a lot of all-or-nothing approaches in the health community on social media and I've noticed that the nuanced conversation around alcohol consumption is no exception. In this episode I talk about what alcohol gets converted into as it travels through our body, how it affects the gut and liver, alcohol's effects on our brain, and how the two enzymes that we use to metabolize it are dependent upon NAD+. I focus primarily on a multitude of solutions that vary in cost: why I prefer niacinami...
It has been really interesting to research mold and learn about the different approaches that people have to it. Seth Jones, founder of Superstratum Labs, joins me in this episode to talk about why throwing out all of your belongings that have been exposed to mold is a thing of the past. In the past fifteen years I've heard many stories about people moving out of their moldy homes and living in tents to restore their health. With a proper protocol, like what Seth designed, using hypochlorous aci...
The night before I was to fly out to visit my family for Christmas I witnessed my basement raining down tons of water underneath my bathtub post soak. It turns out that all three contractors that worked on that custom lodestone bathtub did not check that it was sealed underneath the rocks. I've had the tub for four years and ever since then it has been feeding mold underneath in the drywall and insulation. The surprising thing is even with the exposure for at least the past three years I have be...
I have been hearing about iron overload since 2012 from various natural health educators. In 2019 the seeds that were sprouted in my mind fully developed as I completely embraced the idea that everybody has iron overload and nobody is iron deficient. I went full steam ahead with that idea for the next several years, making it a core part of my health message. I practiced what I preached and donated blood twice. The first time I felt superhuman - very mentally clear and energetic. The second time...
I receive a lot of health questions about how to remedy various debilitating conditions. One of the more concerning questions I receive frequently is regarding kidney failure. Why is there an epidemic of people with failing kidney function? It comes down to mitochondria dysfunction. Instead of focusing in one one study like most health educators do, my goal with these short shows is to paint broad strokes and cover the entire subject from a birds eye view all the way down to the mitochondrial le...
In this months Q&A episode I answer listener questions including: What are my thoughts on B vitamins? Should we supplement them or get them from food? What is one thing the anti PUFA crowd gets wrong? What are my thoughts on testing omega 3:6 ratio from a dried blood spot sample? What do I think about Dr Matthew Walker on Diary of a CEO Podcast saying "don't supplement large doses of melatonin"? What is a good dose of melatonin for kids? Have I ever taken melatonin to lower anxiety? What do ...
There are many different philosophies in the natural health world about where people should start with their health. Some focus on increasing carbs, some focus on increasing protein, some focus on both. I've heard people in the Ray Peat community say that heavy metal detox is a fad and its not important. For the first half of the show I break down why I think its a great place to start, the biochemistry of exactly how heavy metals harm our cells, how car exhaust contributes to their accumulation...
Finally, an elegant water filter that actually filters out all contaminants and structures the water at the same time. The Mitolife EZ Flow structured water filter cleans the water in the first four stages, using a combination of a 5 micron sediment filter, KDF55, reverse osmosis, cation resin, and catalytic carbon. Inbetween those effective filtration processes the water is flowing through stages that make the water "ordered" or "coherant". This includes powerful neodynium magnets and 850 nanom...
Dubbed a sleep hormone, melatonin has been branded as a bandaid and short term fix to help you fall asleep. The health influencers told you that its dangerous because it will decrease your body's production if you supplement it. A popular quantum health neurosurgeon once made the ridiculous claim that it changes the shape of your eyeball if you take a melatonin pill, with zero clinical study to back up his claim. It turns out that melatonin is anti-tumor, anti-viral, anti-anxiety, anti-inflammat...
I have noticed the hatred towards electric vehicles growing the past five years in the natural health world. The topic has become political and there is a clinging to tradition, similar to people that didn't want to abandon the horse and buggy for the automobile, but that will pass with time. I have been saying for years: Why not see the utility and different use cases in both electric cars and gas and diesel cars? In this long time coming episode I talk about why I love owning electric vehicles...
There is a lot of talk about autophagy, or cellular recycling, and apoptosis, programmed cell death, in relationship to circadian rhythm entrainment, ketogenic diets, and intermittent fasting. What I never hear is people talking about lipofuscin, the intracellular kryptonite and shuts down both of those processes by gumming up the lysosomes of our cells. When the garbage recycling center of our cells gets up to 75% full of this nearly non-degradable material, our mitochondria, cell, and tissue f...
In this episode Dr Stephanie Seneff PhD explains how autism, Parkinson's, ADHD, brain fog, anxiety, depression, and hormone disruption are related to the pesticide glyphosate. She talks about the mechanisms of how it affects bacteria and disrupts our ecosystem. I ask her if donating blood lowers glyphosate, potential supplements that can help remove it, and her thoughts on alcohol, cannabis and tobacco as they relate to glyphosate. She talks about why she loves sulfur rich foods, why she isn't a...
There is always a new diet circulating and they always get a lot of engagement. What makes the sugar diet unique is that it challenges the mainstream idea that sugar consumption causes weight gain. What the mainstream doesn't tell you is that fatty acids and glucose compete for absorption, so consuming lower fats while consuming a lot of carbohydrates with adequate protein will actually increase the metabolic rate and turn you into a "fat burner" like the keto people talk about. Gwenyth Burmingh...
In the past few weeks there has been another round of a "bug" going around here in Idaho. I started to feel symptoms but hit it hard and knocked out whatever I caught within one day. In this short episode I give a crash course on what I believe to be the most important supplements to take when you feel like you are dealing with a viral infection. I prioritize vitamin, mineral, and enzyme supplements before going to herbs, methylene blue, or antiparasitics. Vitamins and minerals are foundational ...
You have heard of Lyme disease but have you heard of Alpha Gal Syndrome? It is another condition caused by a tick bite but the symptoms are arguably much worse - becoming allergic to red meat! Affecting over 450,000 Americans, not being able to eat red meat can cause a cascade of downstream effects due to nutrient deficiency. In this episode ANP Dette Avalon, author of The Ultimate Guide to Alpha Gal Syndrome, explains what it is and the devastation it causes. While there is no one magic bullet ...
Are you overwhelmed with all of the different views about nutrition on the internet? Are you scared of consuming sugar because of all of the propaganda? Are you short on cash and can't spend money on lots of functional medicine tests? If you answered yes to any of those then this is a great episode for you. Jayton Miller shares the basics of how to create a healthy metabolism and how to assess the state of your metabolism using your body temperature and pulse readings. We talk about the importan...
I created the CLF Protocol in 2019 based on nearly a decade of research about human health. Since then I have been refining it as I learn new information. The first letter stands for "calcification" and is the focus of this short lecture in a series that I will record breaking down every aspect of my protocol in detail. In this episode I define normal and abnormal calcification, which vitamins and minerals affect it, the various hormones involved in calcium regulation, why calcium in the diet fr...
What is the cell danger response and how is it connected to being stuck in chronic fight or flight mode? What time should people with chronically high cortisol take their cortisol lowering supplements? Why is vitamin D necessary for proper sleep? What test can show you exactly which stage of HPA axis dysfunction you're in? Lulwa Alarmali, functional medicine pracitioner, talks about all of this and more including her favorite lab tests, how she interprets them, her thoughts on probiotic suppleme...
With how unnaturally fast paced life is, social media notifications, neverending emails, letters in the mail to respond to, staying aware of all of the various toxins we're exposed to, dodging grifters online that just want to take your money and sell you their program, it is very easy to be chronically stressed. Practices such as turning off your notifications, putting your phone in airplane mode when you are walking in the forest, keeping do not disturb on all the time, carving time out of you...
For several years I was focusing heavily on the relationship between copper and iron while neglecting and even demonizing zinc. Given that our body stores a much higher concentration of zinc than copper, that was not a wise approach. Over the years I have learned that even in the case of a copper deficiency, one should still supplement zinc in addition to copper, and the clinical research clearly proves this. It is very easy to get caught in the anti-supplement fear campaigns that big influencer...
I see a lot of health educators throw their weight around saying that they have more then a few decades of experience working one on one with clients, and then selling you the idea that acting based on your symptoms is just mimicking the allopathic pharma way of thinking. But what if we acknowledged our symptoms and used them as guiding lights instead of lab tests? Or you could do both. Natasha Snoeijer focuses on thyroid, hormone and metabolic optimization. She joins me to bring that "what abou...
In this solo show I break down what Alzheimer's disease is, why so many studies show that tobacco smokers have higher risk for Alzheimer's, how the vitamin K shot given to infants differs from vitamin K supplements, and the specific and multiple mechanisms of how vitamin K2 works to prevent the development of Alzheimer's disease. I talk about the relationship between cadmium, lead, and Alzheimer's disease. I spend quite a bit of time talking about the difference between nicotine supplements and ...
