My league Buds has how the knowledge you want. My legs has how the knowledge you need. League Buds. Yeah, they have out the works that the whole wild world want to read. My League Buds. Welcome to me Leak's bookshel episode number twenty eight. This is a serious episode but yet necessary. Also got a little comedy on this episode. I'm gonna be talking about some of the funniest books out there on the market for kids, authored by yours truly, Kevin Hart. In my community, this is a subject, It's
always a topic. I'm gonna open up on this one. I'm gonna try to delve into something that's relevant and current and what a subject matter did a lot of people just talking about. It's not a comfortable conversation. It's not a comfortable topic. But all for my thoughts as an other branch to address this particular subf jake matter. This all over the news and all over the TV. I named this episode your Bible or Your Gun, So enjoy episode Your Bible or Your Guns. Malik's bookshelf is
finding its way. You know, there's a saying that you should just throw ideas on the wall and the one that sticks maybe is the one that you should pick up and run with. Right well, Melik's bookshelf is built in the world with books, culture, and community. So I need to dove into more community issues that affect our community. Right now. The headlines for the last week has been those mass shooting that have taken place in this country Texas.
I believe one happened back east, and I just heard today another one happened in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the place where the TUSA massacre happened, where the first city where bombs was dropped on black people because they were progressive, and they used to create this riot. They used this black man rumor about him assaulting some white woman, and that got the town all round up. And it's the answer, even if he did as a white woman, is the answer to murder and burned down a whole city that's
taking place now. Personally, I don't think Keith did assault this white woman. But let me tell you something. There were times when just looking at a white person that was considered a crime, and people were hung and related and castrated and lynch just for looking at a right woman.
And let me tell you something that's not that long ago that this was happening, and it's still happening in many respects all across this nation with police brutality, which is another hot topic in the community about police brutality. But let me rewind back to this again, the shooting, these mash shootings, because a lot of people have a lot to say, Well, Malik is gonna go on record and put his thoughts on this mass shooting because this one just hopping in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The other one that
happened in Texas. We're talking about babies, we're talking about kids. We're talking about walking into a school in murdering innocent children, and that don't feel good and that don't sit well with many of us, most of us. It's horrific, it's horrifying, it's wicked, and it's evil. But let me say this the answer, you know, because it seemed like the minute
a mass should't he take place. The minute and that's all they've been talking about in the media is what we're gonna do about gun control Second Amendment and people like oh, they want to make it a political issue on the heels and death of babies on the hills and death of these innocent people in Tulsa, Oklahoma, which is the Black Wall Street, the place where black people thrived in the twenties and and owned blocks and blocks and streets of businesses as well as homes, and got
bombs dropped on them from planes first city in America to get bombs dropping. They dropped these white people dropped them on innocent black people. That's coming up the anniversary of Tulsa, Oklahoma, MASCA. Now we're here about a shooting in Oklahoma, and I can guarantee I can get that just happened today. I can guarantee this is all gonna turn into gun control and political It always do because many think that the answer to issues like this is
just eliminate people. The Second Amendment in remove all the guns out the home, all the rifles out the home. You know, they play with our mind and what they play word games. You know, there's no such thing as a sault When you walk in there, it's not gonna say assault weapon. But when you hear assault rifle, when you hear something like that, what happens? What did you do you think something deadly? Offensive? Um harmful? There's no such thing as an assault rifle. There's a rifle, and
they all have names. Here's the thing. They are unqualified people that have guns. They are unqualified people didn't know how to the gun. Even if they don't qualify under the protocol to buy a gun, a gun or a rifle, there's always gonna be bad apples and bad people who want to sell you a product on the black market even when you don't qualify. And there are a lot of people out here a getting access guns that don't have the proper background and don't go through the proper channel.
And then there are those who do go through the proper channel and get guns and get a rifle, and they go out and murder people innocently. But let me say this, let me say this, let me say this, let me say this me personally, I don't think just eliminating the Second Amendment is gonna solve this problem. I personally don't think having stricter un laws is gonna solve this problem. This is a cultural issue, and it's a more issue, and there's something wrong and deep rooted in
this country that's causing this type of thing. But I'm gonna say this. I'm gonna say this, I don't trust this government. You might trust this government, but why would you as a black man who has not had protection from police brutality, from oppression, discrimination, and all the illments that has occurred in this country against black men to trust a country or yes, I live here absolutely and I'm not going nowhere, and I believe that we try,
we need to make what's wrong right. But at the same time, I could speak out of gets and a reality this will this country has been horrible and horrific towards black people. So when it comes to trust, trust is not given, trust is earned. It's an insult that acts millions of black people to trust that which has not earned trust. And that's my position on that. So to asks me as a black man to take a
position to say, hey, let's get rid of guns. What you're gonna defend yourself against when this government round you up like they did the Indians and put them in uh concentration cap What you're gonna do when they round up the Asians during World War Two when they thought there was a threat and put them in concentration camps. What I'm saying is, what are you gonna defend yourself
against in your own community? If some white supremacis in some group of gains of skinheads run up in your neighborhood. The just last ship has sense. It's said that two million people in this country and to defend themselves against some with a gun because someone assaulted them or trying to rob them or or what have you, and they needed to have a gun to defend themselves. So this
is real issue. You asking a group of people who have not been protected ever in this nation from evil and wickedness, that what give up guns to protect themselves? Come on, now, I think we're going too far. We shouldn't trust that which has not earned the trust, and we certainly shouldn't just say, hey, let me just arm myself, because there are bad people out here doing wicked things with weapons like guns and rifles that they shouldn't be doing,
but they're doing. So, you know, I'm just saying that that's my position on this gun uh debate and what is happening in this country because I personally don't think that nothing is gonna change, to be honest, until you change yourself. And I think people have to change in order for things to change, and I don't see enough people doing that. This This this police and police brutality, it's a real issue in America. And what you're gonna do when the local police run up in your house
and slaughter you and murder you innestly. Aren't you supposed to be able to defend yourself? And many black people have done that and have defended themselves out of self defense, only to wind up in jail for life for defending themselves against this police brutality that has taken place in this country. This are every city in this country and has been going on for centuries in this country. These are real issues and they need to be addressed, and they have it, and we need to find a way
to solve this major issue, this major issue. Black people are not protected in this nation. And before you can tell me about any other group that need to be protected, we need to focus on black people being protected from what's taking place in this nation. Because they surely don't
talk about gun control. When the police run up in a black person home or in the neighborhood and inisly murder someone, they don't talk about gun control or second amen, when that happens, we're not protected, and too many of us are dying. And every time a month go by, another innocent black person is murdered by police. Justice is not equal in this country. And anybody believe that. You can believe that all you want, but you ain't fooling to me on that justice is not equal. Listen, I
believe you know. I'm an American, I live in this country. I want to see things change. But the reality is is the reality. So I'm not gonna be a fool and and walk around here and walk on acts and act like these things don't. It is an elephant in the room and then needs to be dealt with. And the reality is that, um, you can't have your cake and eaty too. You can't want to change, and then you want things as they are. Come on now, but this cling is taking place, gonna hot, and it needs
to be shut down. I don't have all the answer, but I don't think the answer is say, hey, let's disarm America. That's unrealistic and it's not gonna happen, all right, And these people all vote people out there on listen, we gotta stop wasting energy on things that's just not gonna happen, all right. There are too many people in
this nation. There's not never gonna give up them guns never, and they're gonna fight, and they'll fight for their liberty, their freedom, in their in their and their and their beliefs before they disarmed, because too many people in this nation are dissatisfied and they're not gonna let only the government have weapons they can they can they can um they can use in order to you know, impose their will.
It's not gonna happen. You have too many trained veterans, You've got too many people this in the military, this trained civilliance. Now they're not giving up those weapons, whether you like it or not. This is their belief and they're gonna go down in flames if you try to force them to do something that they don't want to do. So that ain't the answer. The answer is to find, oh what we can do to stop people for having
that kind of hate, trick that kind of hatred. That's what we gotta figure out because these are innocent people that's getting slaughtered. But every time something wicked like this happened, it becomes a political issue. And do rid the circummitment, get rid of old rifles, get rid of guns. Come on, man, that ain't gonna happen. Y'all being unrealistic, And then that bottle cry, yeah, I believe the master people say we
should do something. I think something should be done, But what what The extreme extreme is not gonna happen, and the masses of the people are not gonna give up their Bible and their guns. Their Bible and their guns. I think that's a perfect title for this segment that I just done. Bible or the Gun. See what I'm saying, They're not gonna give up the Bible or their guns. I think that's the perfect title for this second. Well
that's all. That's my thoughts. Now that I've talked about something serious, relevant and current that's in the community, now I want to turn the page. I want to talk about a couple of books. Do a book with you, liven up the atmosphere. You know. I was serious and it's a serious topic. But now it's time to have a little fun. Get to know a few uh books that I think that are nice for the children, nice good reads, fund reads, and they will put out by
Kevin Hart. You know he's the war running actor and comedian. Well, he has a couple of books out now. The first book is called Marcus Makes a Movie and the second book, which just came out the other day, called Marcus makes it big. And so these two books, and you need to read the first one because he has no money, he has no credit, but he wants to make a movie. And the main character is Toothpick. And it's a funny book.
It's a good read, and it's for the kids between the ages of I would say, you know, it's a chopter book, so between the ages of seven to thirteen, somewhere in that range. Basically comes down to your level of reading because it's a chapter book, so you give a large age range, but it also comes down to you know, where you ad in terms of your reading. But it's a fun book. And Kevin are the Phony, the funniest comedian in the whole wild world is movies
and made billions of dollars. What these two books are funny to get towards kids. It's a good read. It's about this character. He's a superhero's name is Toothpick, and he had no money, so he's trying to, you know, figure out how how do I make this movie? I mean, you know, on a true a shoe string budget. So then the second book comes out and the second book is all about you know, market has made it big,
but the question of how you stay on top. You know, he has to think about, you know, keeping the audience. He needs to make another movie. He's also deal with fame come other issues and problems, and he's having issues with his friends and how to keep them all together and how not you know, the air, the dirty laundry, the problems that they're having and facing. So the character, like I said, it's it's a it's a superhero's name is Toothpick and he makes a movie. He figures out
how to produce the movie. But then when he gets um and when the book two comes out, it's all about the issues that adolescens go through, um when they hit fame. Hell uh, you know adults go through this as well. But kids, you know, they have to learn that very today. They have to overcome challenges. They have to overcome their circumstances and uh and then continue to grow and to be successful. So pick up both copies. Marcus makes a movie and Marcus Makes it Big by
