conference should to honest James Dooley: it was brilliant there's 850 high level people there so was um even just the I prefer the masterminds as opposed to the actual conference um just the meetups in the bars and the masterminds yeah it was there's a lot of high level people there that to be fair there's a lot of people that are actually struggling from an affiliate standpoint but it's um it's interesting to see how people are scaling stuff and scaling processes so yeah it was really good Paul Andre Dea: love that so there's actually masterminds like breakout sessions like we're actually smaller than the main conference that was yeah every day so it's like it goes on for like 10 days the conference is only two days but six days 6 days before and two days after literally morning hey welcome to another episode of the SEO video show where SEO is alive and fun my name is Paul Andre DEA AKA Dre and I cured SEO videos released in the past week into about one minute Clips my favorite part of the show is when I get to introduce my guest and my guest this week is the one and only founder f rank fat rank James dly before we get started let's say what's up to everyone in chat I see Ernesto Victor Stefan Brian Maddox Fletcher kobby Kenneth Freddy K kaj kaj and Logan what's up everyone happy Friday please like subscribe and hit that notification Bell now let's get on with the show Paul Andre Dea: hey Dre why do mobile marketers make good parents they're responsive by Paul Andre Dea: a new search a new episode of search off the Record was just released here's a tip on Crawl errors it's like if you see 5,000 crawl errors on your site in search console is that good or bad Paul Andre Dea: well but it depends on the crawl error again it's something that you probably want to know like for example a 404 means that the what what does it mean not found and then you can ignore that if you don't think that that particular URL should serve any content but then if you look at errors in the 500 range then suddenly you are like okay my server had some hiccups and in a given time 90% of the responses were all in the 500 range or the statuses were all in the 500 range maybe I need to check that out okay that's a super useful way of differentiating like 500s definitely check those out four 400 fours 410 like look at some samples and then like ignore most of them the site okay so if like some negative SEO site links to a million of my pages and they all go to 404 it's like me okay ah fantastic now I can sleep in peace with lot your websites um I with that need craw budget I feel still it's still still best practice to keep your site free of Errors I mean some of these a Pages uh can be REM removed from your site maps and and if they showing up there yeah just remove them Paul Andre Dea: all right the quality Raider guidelines has actually been updated Marie Haynes shares her insights around the update on forum and QA Pages let's check this one out Paul Andre Dea: quality Pages have extremely satisfying conversations it's more just the types of pages that people like tend to have the same characteristics uh including and here's the characteristics then participation from users who have put a great deal of effort into their posts is uh they talk about how much effort was put into uh the posts um and have a wealth of experience and or expertise on a topic I think this could be a way to add Information Gain Is when if you can add experience in a way that many would not have access to in their real world life I I think that's really important I know we're talking forms here but really important for um reviews content as well that like if I've actually used a product um I've got this experience that you might not have right so being able to actually demonstrate that is something that I think that Google would reward in my contribution in the new SEO in 2024 book by Majestic I use a strategy to optimize I talk about the strategy of optimizing your engagement on Reddit and Kora I mean use tools like Kora and pop on your your responses on these on these types of websites and I watch them show up and like search the s new sge and A New Perspective places so be sure to check that one out Paul Andre Dea: all right Nathan gotch shares his merger SEO technique to increase ragings let's check this one out Paul Andre Dea: number one which is the merger technique so I coined this strategy back in 2015 and since then I've used this technique to dominate my SEO competitors across countless niches but I'm not the only one so I got a random call from Neil Patel in 2016 because he wanted to know more about the merger technique and since then Neil has used my technique multiple times to explode his organic search traffic and back Linko useed this technique as well and even one of the top SEO agencies web FX uses it so what is the merger technique the merger technique is the process of taking a relevant dead business and merging it 301 redirecting it to your business and if done correctly the merger technique will Skyrocket your site's Authority and Trust which makes ranking for important keyw easier so the first step in the process is to find Opportunities using a tool like spam Zilla so number one integrate HS number two set your filters and uncheck all country tlds because it can be difficult to register domains when you aren't located in the host country and you'll need to adjust based on your location for example if you're in Australia you may want to check the do . Au domain opportunities first then set TF from 10 hfdr from 10 and domains from 10 and number three start researching so start with drop domains which will be marked as available and this means you can go to any registar like name sheep and register in the domain I would do this all day if I had the budget to acquire companies like Neil Patel did I mean he did that with uh what was that one with um um his keyword research was also Acquired and he just kind of forward it on his Neil to Neil Patel and and um I believe we bought like um the other one the the the the people also ask type of thing that that other one either way I don't think you can get the same results by buying expired domains so be sure to research um expired domains who were actually existing businesses I mean Nathan goes over the process in the entire video Paul Andre Dea: okay our last video to share today is by Lee Witcher his simple way to rank on Bing let's six one out being cake has you know three large buckets that they go into one is the sort of the relevance of your content and that means using your keyword and its variance on the page you know that's a very Google thing as well Bing is a little bit more literal uh than Google is with respect to that so get your you know the keyword you're trying to rank the page for get it on the damn page um links anchor text you know that being was very responsive to Anchor text coming into a page and traffic being trust sites that have links from other sites that are indexed in bing so if you and they they say that in their the Web Master guidelines um so you know if something has is if you're trying to link from a bunch of properties that are uh that don't have any indexation in bing you're probably not going to get credit for it but you know you can go and um I like building you know an Azure Cloud link because Bing loves itself you know at least it's aware of itself so if you do that you know you can you can uh check that tick box to get you in but I feel how many of you are focusing on Bing I mean I feel there's some untapped traffic and a few like very few case studies out there on and resources on Bing SEO I mean this will be something very interesting to consider on creating content around on 2024 um do you know what's awesome that would be awesome to start in 2024 building and ranking websites this brings me to my favorite part of the show please ask questions and on the topic and I will address them in the order that they are received before we get started let's here's a word from our sponsor ever wondered how to get your brand number noticed I found the answer with magic PR thanks to Magic PR my brand now reaches over 300 Plus premium news and media Outlets I've seen my news on AP Bloomberg Yahoo news and many more and it's to the most expensive digital real estate portfolio in the UK he started his career in digital marketing in 20 2009 when he built his first website he is the CEO promo SEO and the founder of fat rank he has made over a thousand domains online a UK based digital landlord generating over 1 million leaves please welcome the seal millionaire James dud James Dooley: my man welcome to the show how you doing you're right good good everyone's give a round of applause Paul Andre Dea: oh yeah we got a bunch of people already in the live chat talking about here we got Peter Vander graph saying dly shock the hell out of these white hat viewers share some great stories with us oh man Peter Peter Peter what's up my man he was also has a episode here but Peter let's I want to get right into it this is the first question I asked all my P professionals that come on here in one minute or less how does James get ranking on page one of Google H yes James Dooley: good question so uh start off by building good quality content Mak certain the right entities are on the page using the right tools like page optimizer pro um foredge analysis do topical Authority build good quality links throughout the site um start off by hitting the homepage with a lot of branded type anchors naked URLs um good Silo structure make certain that the SES Built For Speed um and yeah that's that's it in a nutshell get the right pill get the pillars right of good quality content topical Authority and back links throughout throughout the website Paul Andre Dea: love that first knowledge bomb of today let me rewind this quick hold on James take us way back way back to 2009 how did you first get into SEO James Dooley: so I didn't actually mean to get intoo um the the construction company I was working for at the time needed um inbone inquiries coming in we got a website built it wasn't ranking I didn't understand why it wasn't ranking until I ran got the web designer who said you need SEO and then I was like I end up Googling what is SEO started from there then started to learn this whole algorithm and formula behind um getting to the top of the rankings so I needed to to it for my own site and then things just started to escalate where we started to build a second the third a fourth a fifth a sixth kind of website out for different products and services of what we did and then from there then we started to generate inquiries for custo customers that we was working for cuz if we got them busier indirectly it would get us busier as well and then it ended up being probably four or five years down the line was making more money from lead generation than we was from our construction company itself Paul Andre Dea: wow um and then a lot of people then started to realize we was dominating for a lot of Industries and started to ask us could could could we help them with the lead generation and things are snowballed very quickly from there Paul Andre Dea: love that love that so let's let's go back to when you said you started Googling how to learn seos I'm curious like how did you learn it like what were some of your resources um what were you like using and back then James Dooley: so back then it was like uh blackout World Warrior Forum um there's just like there wasn't that much information out there apart from a lot of it seemed to be kind of white act tactic so getting your keywords in your title tag repeating the keyword several times on the page um and it was only really when I started I came I went to a um a local Meetup and then people started talking about B links the minute I started to realize what B links was type of back link back then that a bill worked if I did keyword stuff in it worked basically anything that you did in SEO back then works it was the matter of just doing it and the more the more you did of it the better you ranked um obviously it's a bit different you need more quality over quantity but back then it was people call it the Glory Days but the um yeah it was keyword stuffing and and back links back then and then obviously nowadays um there's a lot more to it with semantics and getting the right entities and stuff that are topical Authority but things have evolved but this it's still an algorithm at the end of the day so it's still predictable if you know what the formulas needed and what input you need to put in to get the output Paul Andre Dea: love that love that and stuff that were you doing back then I mean are any of that stuff still working today James Dooley: to be honest with yeah in local um there still stuff with regards to blog comments and um ma Mass like even GSA can still work in local we don't we don't specifically do much of GSA we're mainly doing that we still do it like tier 3es and stuff like that but the um yeah they still there still a lot they still getting the keywords in several times on the page works better than only having it once on the page but in the affiliate space it's very different but in local you can still get away with a lot more than what people think you can still get away with a lot of exact match anchors and stuff like that um so yeah there there still you can still push the boundaries a lot more than what people think in in local um like I said Affiliates a little bit different Paul Andre Dea: love that love then speaking of our topic today on affiliate websites and ranked websites I would love to come to my first question on the topic here here so um for those like uh what what what do you think um you're talking about L keywords and stuff like that what criteria matter the most in keyword research for determining you know SEO When selecting a like an initial Niche like in Affiliates James Dooley: so I always try to make certain that I do a cluster at a time so if I'm going to go into um a certain industry so let's say I'm going into if I start off like's say in the casino Market if I'm going to go down down the market of um slot games I'm going to want to make certain that I completely cover the topic in its entirety about slot games before I start moving on to Poker or backarat or black jack I want to make certain that each category is finished before I move on to the next because then I've got a nice tight cluster they're all internal linking to each other um and and I think too many people go too broad um too quickly and enter multiple different categorizations before completing one thoroughly Paul Andre Dea: love that so really go down to the games first like go to get get like Authority on just one game whether it's bakarat or um Blackjack just write a ton of stuff that and then build out from that is that like kind of like your you're kind ofing to James Dooley: yeah yeah basically so if again if if I'll revert it back to let's say um lead generation so in the plumbing in in let's say the roofing industry there's a lot of different subcategories being Roofing so you've got like flat Roofing biodiverse Roofing Heritage Roofing slate Roofing if you're just going to start off and just do slate Roofing do every single possible product related to slate Roofing before you move on to Flat Roofing or um her like you said Heritage Roofing blue Roofing um Brown Roofing there's all these are all different types of um roofs that you can install so but before you move away from the Slate Roofing don't then move like I said onto something completely different Paul Andre Dea: love that love that okay so you let's go on kind of the page optimizations because you you mentioned that you use like you use um um um like tools like like cor and or page optimizer pro I mean what are some specific like uh on-site optimizations that total beginner should like really have in place for like a legion website to succeed James Dooley: so it depends on the budgets if if if you've got low budgets you um Some people prefer using like phrase um phrase is quite good for doing outlines um some people use surf SEO cuz they like the um the dashboard of it stuff that art um cow Ruth in my opinion is absolute Legend when it comes to on page technique so page Optimizer pros and absolutely amazing tool for Edge analysis making certain that the right the right words are needed on the page the right semantics the right entities are needed in the right places as well so making certain your core focused entity of whatever the the search intent of that page is in the URL in the title in the H1 in the opening sentence um going like with your subtopics in your H2S um you could use certain tools like uh Market moves is quite good Market mov is a bit more expensive because it does a topical model um system as opposed to correlation um but to to be honest with you if if in local you're using any of the tools of page optimizer pro um surfo phas Market mov you're probably 99 99% of the way there because a lot of us aren't using those types of Paul Andre Dea: love that we got our first question here on on the topic um by Stefan hi James how how do you decide what content to write how do you organize it James Dooley: so that's a great question and to be honest with you we've got a lot of different staff within the business that actually do this in a diff in a different way they prefer different ways of doing it so this I won't say there a one siiz fits all but if we went down the road of let's say a carpet cleaning website I wouldn't start off by just doing all um main money keywords to do with carpet cleaning I'd start off with um informational type terms like how to remove red wine from carpets um and go down that kind of Route which is more of an informational based page it's easier to rank for it gets quite a lot of search volume and trying to get as much traffic to the site initially before you start going after the hard keywords so some people like the the Avalanche approach or going through your traffic tear and stuff like that but it's it's about trying to start off do a proper topical map do prop um keyword research um load for for of your competitors in that you want to try and go after um extract all their keywords that they're ranking for load it into like a keyword customing tool like keyword Cupid you'll see what pages are needed and then try to the keyword difficulty tool in HFS is slightly flawed because it's only based off um link kind of power um but you got to try to understand and put it into some sort of hierarchy of these are the easiest terms that I can probably rank for that's going to start getting the website kind of some sort of traffic start off with those and work through the traffic tiers and then and then start working towards then the bigger money keywords um so yeah start with the easier to rank four terms and then work through but just try and get through as quickly as you can complete the Clusters that you need to mhm to basically cover the topic in its entirety about whatever topic or Niche that you answer him Paul Andre Dea: love that hopefully that answers your question there Stefan so that actually kind of brings me into kind of like um my next question on on it it's like like what type of like um uh what's the minimum like level type of unique custom content needed like per Niche for like you for the money site you know like for the chance of it ranking you know before like anything else compl it James Dooley: completely completely depends from Niche to Niche so um if you're entering um an easy to rank for like if if I go on the Realms of um carpet cleaning for example if you're trying to rank for carpet cleaning in Sarasota in Florida or carpet cleaning in Miami is harder than carp in Sarasota um but you still got to try and try and build out pages around all the suburbs of the area of around Miami but then go after all the informational keywords um content Nows is that cheap with regards to you can be using AI with the right prompts like chat gbt or or bloging or whatever your your preferred like Sim writer whatever your preferred um AI writing tool is try to still get in like some sort of human editing to those pages um and then yeah I mean you we we've got some sites that have only got 30 40 pages and they could be earning us two three $4,000 a month so it just matters how big you want want to go with the site we've got certain sites that have got 40,000 Pages um but you could start off with a small suburb and then just keep building out from there Paul Andre Dea: love that love that and just I kind of like I want to take this kind of um rewind this little bit back because I mean for those that don't know like what a rank and web website is it's like like we're talking about like how we're building these ranking websites but what are these ranking websites doing like are you renting these out you're you're or you selling the leads can you kind of explain what um what you're doing kind of of of of building these kind of like thousands of websites per location are you like you know are you actually renting them to someone or you Le can to explain the whole process on that James Dooley: so the the easiest process to so first and foremost rank your me is to get a website get it rank in and then rent it out to the client that would want those type of inquiries okay so let's say um a personal injury attorney right so they're brilliant at doing what they do do it in law and dealing with cases but you try and talk to them about title tags about entities on a page about bat links the the the mind just blows up and they don't have a clue what you're talking about so my issue is with client SEO is that if I'm trying to explain to them what I'm doing they want to know what I'm doing why I'm doing it and how I'm doing it and it becomes too much of a nightmare because I'm spending too long explaining what I'm doing than physically doing the work I need to do nice glossy reports every month have conversations with the client so this method is I don't need to talk about what I'm doing and how I'm doing it all what I need to talk about is I'm going to generate you inquiries for what you want you will get those inquiries and convert them and make good profit pay us a a percentage of those profits so what starts to happen we actually start off by doing lead generation for these companies we build up the trust they start seeing the inquiries are EX exactly what they're looking for and at that point they start to say okay if we want exclusivity on that website how much is it going to cost depending on the niche depending on how many inquiries we're getting we might say it's $3,000 a month it could be $10,000 a month it completely depends and then we'll agree agree a figure and then we'll rent that site out for that for that price Paul Andre Dea: love that so um when you're thinking about these websites so you're actually just building them um like tring a set of them already and then like if someone you'll find someone to take those leads or you're building It On Demand when you get a new client or you find someone that's looking for those leads how does that work is it which way James Dooley: so we it so we'll L we're L to a market before we even got I've got a client because we know let's say um Roofing people always need and will always need to have a roofer come and fix the roof or new roofs are always going to be built on new houses so it's up to my sales team once we've built it and we're starting generating inquiries to find a roofer that physically wants those inquiries so we'll start off with Anish like you said we might start off with Roofing we'll go AB broad we build a big site everything related to Roofing we might get 10 different customers 10 different roofers put onto that website once them 10 customers are on the website at that point the we we always say like the cream Rises to the top so out of them whoever starts pay the most out of that those 10 roofers we'll start speaking to them more they might start saying look we make the most profit on um Church Roofing or Heritage Roofing some do uh biodiverse Roofing which is where you put in like kind of plants and stuff on the actual roof so it sucks in carbon dioxide and and kind of releases oxygen so in like big cities like New York or London these are these are big kind of like there's a lot of money that goes into biodiverse roofs so if we could go and build out sites for that they would pay way more money than what you would just for normal tiled Roofing so we'll we'll start Broad and then what we might started is once we got a good client we'll start building like exact match demands so at that point we might start building a site for Heritage roofing for churches. comom um biodiverse roof in.uk um and stuff like that so we'll we'll go proper tailored and targeted to what the client wants but initially will start broad enter a market could be Plumbing it could be Roofing it could be electricians and then from there then they'll start to tell us what they make the most profit in and then we'll kind of go down a rabbit hole to find how how we can get those inquiries from them Paul Andre Dea: oh knowledge bomb right there guys love that there uh Peter says great business models keep sharing and if you guys if you guys got questions we go ahead and ask them in the live chat we have one question here by kazra kazra says what's one thing that James took away from shangai SEO James Dooley: it it's the communities the networking events um the I mean we sometimes if if you're Lo in local meetups you can be the biggest fish in a pond and oh you can be the brightest person in a room but if you're the brightest person in a room you're in the wrong room so you need to kind of get yourself in a different room where you all leveling up and helping each other out Cham is 850 high level seos that attend it's not the only event there's like the SEO spring training next that's another really high level event I can't wait to come and meet you you there yourself J um these networking events just they just such an amazing place to help each other out so the biggest knowledge bomb is get networking get attending these kind of Mastermind events because the the level of knowledge and the and the stuff that you learn from other people eight just seconds and all Paul Andre Dea: love that love that okay so I'm curious like now now that we we talked about like what the ranking websites work and the business model around it okay so now I want to get my website now going right so I started out I built out my websites I I I I started small on on on ranking for like smaller terms it's starting to rank for you know bigger terms now uh what are some um you know like what are some like uh link building tactics or strategies that you look like in the earlier phases you know what what type work best initially James Dooley: so when so when I first got a site um prior to building the link building and let's say I've got some of the pages that have been written I want to tick all the boxes for eat um I used to I used to believe that eat was a myth I used to think that people it was just like a selling point for SEO agencies to try and sell oh we sell eat and I'm just like yeah okay but then we we had a few websites that actually got a a manual action penalty um for off for transparency so it's I've only ever read it in the finance and Google news so it has if it's a Google if it's in gets in Google news or it's in finance I've only ever had the manual action penalties for that but now now I've had those and I've started to realize what the Google quality rers are looking for I want to just tick all the boxes just get an about us page get a meet the team page get an address get a telephone number get two or three different email addresses so once I've got all them what then it allows me to do as well is once have gotten address is back to the question of where you first start let's say from a link building strategy I'll go and get myself 3 to 500 like citations business directories um they're all no follow naked URL links that initially that you get him MH but um you're getting that base layer of 300 mentions of your nap um name address phone number um on lots of other sites naked URLs no follows um I then going do a magic PR campaign so I Know M mwell so um he's one of the sponsors here on on on your uh podcast um that goes and gets me 300 to 400 um syndicated press articles as well in that I make certain that I embed um an image uh the video my gmbb I get the nap Lis in and then I'll go and get again I have a branded or naked URL inors so I go down the Realms of going after a lot of branded a lot of naked URLs a lot of no follow initially just as the the pillow links the foundational links before then I'll start moving on to pbns guest posts Niche edits and that's where the power comes from but I'm I to start with I'm trying to get the foundational links put in place for trust Paul Andre Dea: love that love that so okay so in the very very beginning you don't even worry about like um keyword Rich anchor Tex it's all brand mentions and all just keep like like and and oh great tip right there guys great right there I I might be doing a little bit uh something wrong there but yeah so guys if you're guys going to do that make sure just make sure like brand and it does make sense because you just want to establish your brand name and stuff and you're talking about 3 to 500 I mean I'm here maybe doing like 50 to 100 so do you think like there's still more um there should be more than just 50 to 100 and go higher James Dooley: I mean I mean to be honest with in in a lot of NES 50 to citations is fine um but for the price of them they cost maybe 40 cents so you're talking for 500 it's only going to cost you maybe $200 $300 to get it done I just prefer going for quite a like if I'm going to go if I'm going to go for the site I'm going to go big and they're all they're all naked uros they're all no follows I just I just want that diversity which then allows me to get a lot more do follows ex ex that match anchors I've already it's just the foundations that are in place then for me to then go big go broad I also do like to give that kind of quick injection of Link velocity that's coming through to the site so it's giving that big burst I've built quite a bit of content out um you've got quite a few of the um the the links that are coming through there's something else as well I also do like a so what people call like a social Fortress which is just getting like your Twitter your Facebook your LinkedIn your Pinterest trying all then branded as well which are all going back to your site um there's some like cheap kind of five gigs where you can use like um SEO autop pilot money robot or um GSA SEO nuke tier 2s or tier 3es that go to your Tumblr your Rebel Mouse just basically your social Fortress around your site your branded web2 profiles get some links hit to them just to get them indexed and again they're just branded back to your homepage so I just try to tick as many boxes as I can just to get the trust element before I'm starting to go with the power of pbn's guest post and sheds and stuff like that Paul Andre Dea: love that a lot of knowledge bombs dropped in that one I wanted to talk about like so you talk about trust there's one thing that you mentioned when you're talking about eat and you talk about developing and about us and meet us meet the team um um pages right I'm curious because when you're making thousands of ranking rent pages are these like real people like real staff that you're putting on about us and meet us or like how does that work I don't understand like how how that you know you're able to create that James Dooley: so that's an amazing question and um for the rank and rents what we'll normally do is when we first build the site when we very very first build the site out we won't have a meet the team page we'll have an about us saying what this site is about that we're a roofing specialist and stuff like that once we've got a few clients on the website and that they're interested in in taking those leads we'll speak to that company and say look we want a message match we want to make certain that the people know who they're inquiring with can we put your details on this website in in time when they're renting their website further down the line we'll put their company details on we'll put their we'll be putting like a telephone number which we directs through to them we'll put their their members of staff on our website so it's it's it's my website and I own it but I want their staff to be on my site because one it's better for trust from my side point of view but actually two when they're inquiring if let's say you're going to pick up the phone Dre and speak to him and you're on my meet the team page there's a message match there there's a you filled in a form on Roofing Specialists Dre's G and picks up the phone and says hi I'm I'm a roofer and they can see you on my site they've got more trust then with the site and there's a connection between because if it's just coming from Roofing specialist and you go and pick up the phone and go hi it's du rofin and they say who's du rofin do you know mean it it doesn't make sense where we'll we'll put the the company staff and the company members on that site hopefully theyve they might have won awards they might have certain accreditations we can put all that on the website as well it's the the website is going to be built for our client that's renting it so we almost want to put their details on we we almost are competing against their website and and they love it because business owners at the end of the day they actually only care about one thing and that's a return on investment can they make profit so some people talk about um Impressions and clicks and SEO and B links some of these business owners they don't care about that they just care about how many inquiries they're going to get are they going to convert them into orders how much profit they're going to make and as long as they're only paying you a percentage of their profits mhm that they're happy so they'll do whatever you ask them to do as long as they're making profit from it MH Paul Andre Dea: love that love that so you actually built the sites um kind of more without the about meet the team and then you kind of um add in that later but okay so I'm kind of um have a kind of curveball here because I mean what happens if like you know like I'm creating these websites and you mentioned like I'm getting citations to the nap right the name address phone number um and and um are you building like a a Google business profile for for this before it actually gets a client attached to it or like you know how does that work James Dooley: so so sometimes we'll on with regards to the addresses and stuff like that um when when we very very first build the site we'll build the pages out initially and when we're going up the pages what we'll start to do is we'll rank without without almost without the e signals without the links um these are really really really easy to rank for suburb kind of areas the not the am and the sarasas of the World in Florida so that there's smaller areas that what you can rank for once they start dripping in the inquiries and we're speaking to these customers within weeks they're saying like when we first start we're not we're not charging them any money initially for the leag okay so so so when you can't rent you can't rent a site out that's not ranking and for us to rank it we need batt links yeah so initially the very very very start is will'll generate you in quiries don't pay for those inquiries just pay us anything that you convert if you don't convert you don't pay us any money so we'll start to generate some leads in small suburbs very quickly even as within a few weeks we've probably got if we've gone out to 20 30 roofing companies you probably got five or six of them that are really really interested in working with you they'll start to give you their information they'll start to say yes you can use our address um ideally on the big site will will want to use an address in in an idal word for a roofer that's not got a GMB so we can use their address to put a g&b to it now the some of the once we've got that address on that on that website it's then difficult for us to then send the inquiries to let's say we've got six people to five companies yeah but then once you've got the other five companies that are interested in the leads we can say look we can build you another site out and we can build a second the Third to four or fifth sight so we can then get we that's when we start asking them what make what where do you make money cuz one of them could be tile roofing one of them could be blue Roofing one of them could be the biodiverse roofing and at that point we're going to build them a dedicated site and then we're going to put their details on because we've built it for them so we're going to have their address on if they've already got an address with um a gmbb we won't create a g&b for it but sometimes they might say look we've got an an office address here and we've got a Warehouse address here and they might allow us to use the warehouse address where we can set a GMB up if if we can create a GMB we don't create a gmv um but we always try to get an address it could be the director's address that we might use just any any any address that we can get hold of that they're happy for us to use we'll put on the site we'll never use their direct telephone number we'll always do it through like a twio number which redirects through to them okay so we've always got we've always got access and control if if ever they stop paying we could change we can change where the the inquiries are going through to on the telephone number it's we can change the address if we have to but the truth of the matter is once they start paying they're making a return on investment we always make certain that they're making a return on investment if they're not we'll stop we'll stop them renting the they are like we want the clients long term to make money MH if they're making money they'll stay with you for a long time Paul Andre Dea: love that love that all right so okay now we got into like talking about like the first tier of linking or the foundation linking and you said like after that that's when you start doing more of the um maybe the pbn and stuff like that so with with like with links stuff like that what's the strategy behind there like are you you like um like Niche relevant are you know like you're making sure they're on on on topic or does that matter what's your what's your like kind of your take on that on backlinks James Dooley: so if I'm going down the road of the Holy Grail of the link building it's um High powerered relevant trust low toxicity contextual as high up the page as you can that that that's a perfect link the truth of the matter is do you need a perfect link is perfect the enemy of progression I think so so if if within your link profile you can get some powerful links that are not relevant does that move the needle yes it does does some relevant links that aren't that powerful move the needle yes it does you want you want a a diverse backlink profile if you can if you can get lots of relevant powerful trusted low toxic bat links perfect but some of those are very very very expensive to get so is it good to have a blended mix of some that might not be relevant but might be really powerful does that move the needle absolutely it does so I'd say just go out and get almost go out and get as many links as you can I'm not saying go and get qu don't don't go and get a five gig with 10,000 bat links but if if it's a high Dr um not that Dr is everything Dr can be manipulated but as long as it's got some sort of power some sort of trust and and some of the link that's good enough Paul Andre Dea: love that so you said higher on the page I mean let's talk more about like the type of quality link so I mean in your past testing you revealed like differences between um you know the same domain sitewide footer links versus branded homepage links specifically I mean like how how do you like um can you explain what what you your findings were James Dooley: so the the best quality link that you can get is on a homepage contextually that that that because the most power gem is on a homepage so that's where your PBM links kind of come in it's difficult to get really really relevant PBM links because like you just can't the volume of links that you need you can't go down the relevant rout but that's going to get your power kind of Route contextually if you can um on the homepage that that's where you get your power from you're if you needing then to get more relevant links because you've got a lot of powerful irrelevant links you need to then start building more guest posts guest posts you can you can determine the title tag so you can make it as relevant as you want um om used to call it reverse Inc or Swim where you you'd kind of line up and try and rank the guest post for what your money what you you're trying to make your money page for go and get it so it's lining up really really lining up the relevance in the title tag so if you're trying to rank for best casino sites go and try and get a guest post that says in the title best casino sites internal link that to your page with this with the exact match anchor best casino sites you're really really lining up the relevance there um between it so you've got the power from pbns but they're not that Rel but you've got a lot of relevance with the guest posts which are going through to it and then what you can then go and do is hit it with some tier two back links which could be n sh or link insertions so at a page level those guest posts are not just relevant but they actually are sending some page rank distribution as well because you've powered that kind of page up as well Paul Andre Dea: excellent love that okay we have our question another question here from Peter vandergraph how much work of what you do in your business can be automated with AI assistance James Dooley: um so first and foremost I'm a massive Advocate Peter van degra is an absolute Legend um he um he's one of the ogs of the industry um very very very Advanced guy been a few masterminds of him a few meetups with him um hats off um nowadays quite a lot um a lot more now can be automated with AI um so there's so many times that you can literally go and get a page now that's been written well especially for stuff like guest post content where you can get hold of an article ask chat GPT or whatever your Preferred Open AI kind of tool is to rewrite an article once it's been Rewritten you can then put certain prompts in place like please insert 15 of these high high salience entities which you can get from like page Optimizer parole so not only is it being Rewritten with AI you actually now adding 15 entities or 20 entities that that initial article didn't have so for Content writing especially for guest posts um your supporting documents that can all be done with with AI and and it works very very very well um the um a lot of the logos now can be done with AI you've got stuff like mid journey and stuff like that of what you can do um you can do like faceless videos now with AI there's a lot now you can be doing to be honest with you we've actually got an inhouse AI team now where we're seeing what what other stuff can we start implementing with AI that we never used to be able to do so this graphic design this videography this content writing I'm sure there's a lot of other things as well that we can be doing um that that we're not doing yet um and I'm I'm still trying to learn myself I think the progression of AI is exponential growth at present so it's um we we're utilizing it a a lot but probably not enough at present we probably can use it a lot more Paul Andre Dea: love that love that okay guys I'm coming to my last couple questions here we're coming close to time so if you have any questions go ahead and last them in the live chat so when you talk about um uh right getting for pbn and guest posts like how do you actually vet the right ones to get on I mean I cuz I'm pretty sure there's some pbn networks that you're like okay those are trash you wouldn't want to be on any of those or anything like that I mean as a how what's your vetting process of like finding the right like you know maybe pbn Network or gu supposed to um use James Dooley: so we personally in house we use a tool called link research tools um so link research tools it it shows trust and toxicity um a lot of people talk about um Dr which is within u h revs U talk about spam score from semrush um we we also use Sam rush in ahfs as well we use Majestic SEO as well so we do go through quite a um a b big vetting kind of process but the truth of the matter is if you sat there vetting every single link you can start looking at every single link it has some sort some degree of toxicity so if you're going to be too scared you're going to end up being sat there procrastinating and not building any links so we we've got certain parameters in place like has it got high theyr has it got some sort of trust if you using Majestic is it like the the trust and citation flow is does it look okay um where does it clearly look like a pbn how many outbound links has it got is it getting traffic has the traffic on it is a is on a massive decline so all these type of things we're looking at but the truth of the matter is I I could sit there saying it's got to be relevant it's got to be trusted it's got to be powerful and all the rest of it but then I wouldn't build any links so I I I've got to get to a point where it's it's good enough and if it's good enough we'll build it um but yeah if you're not using certain tools like M just choose one of them and at least if you're using HS you can look at Dr and look at traffic and then look at the last three of four guest post and just check that they've been indexed and if it's linking to um casino and CBD and all these other things do you want to be connected and part of a bad link neighborhood with them maybe not so just just just put certain parameters in place like that to see whether you want a link from that site um but just don't just don't paral don't suffer with paralysis analysis you need to get links just go and look at 20 and choose the best 10 and go and get those link placed Paul Andre Dea: love that love that guys great knowledge bomb right there to analyze the neighborhoods I haven't like thought that far so analyze the neighborhoods of the networks that you may want to be affiliated with okay let's take our last this is the last question I'm going to take from the audience before we sign off here it goes um from dusco what problems with Google can you expect to have that are specifically related to doing rank and rent at scale James Dooley: so um on the ranking R I'm not really too worried about on the um I've got I've got a few sites with regards to like display ads and stuff like that now on on display ads which are more like informational based kind of websites that you build out sge is a big worry for me on that because I feel like SG is going to start taking a lot of the clicks away from certain sites for informational based terms because they're going to answer it with the AI um I feel like SG is going to come in that's going to answer the queries to get you from the top of the funnel type terms quickly get you towards the bottom of the funnel terms why well because top of the funnel they don't make much money on PPC um there's an argument to say James you're incorrect there because Google make money off Google AdSense so why are they going to take away clicks from from sites that have got AdSense on the site but I feel what they're trying to do is get you from top of the funnel as quickly down to the bottom of the funnel and the bottom of the funnel terms people then are bidding on PPC they're going to make more money on the actual PPC than the are in AdSense so my I worry about kind of display ads type informational websites my uh my rank and rents in the local industry with that Broad and and we are the we giving the best answers and giving the right images the right videos the right content for what people want so if someone's looking for carpet CLI in Sarasota and that's what we do and that's what the customer who who we send the leads through to do why is Google going to penalize that site do you know what I mean if we was manipulating it and doing a fake address and fake reviews and Google can detect fake CTR traffic and stuff like that we're doing all that yes I'm going to be worried because Google at some Point's going to find me out but the stuff we're doing it is the best content the best images the best videos we feel like this site is the best for that search term therefore I'm not I'm not that worried Paul Andre Dea: love it love it we got one question here to snuck in it's a quick one Paul Andre Dea: hey James do you use Google Drive Stacks James Dooley: so yes um for Bing you can use like a Zer which um is better but for yeah there's certain Google Drive Stacks that people do with regards to stacking up all different stuff um that are all in together um I don't personally do I just I just order I think there's a certain like legit or SEO clerks type gig that with buy I think it's something like $60 um that's something else that we can do if what after we've done the citations and the press release um if we feel like we need some more kind of branded anchors and stuff like that we'll yeah we'll do a Google Drive start with that we'll put in embedding of images embedding of um the gmbb embedding of um the and videos images gmbb we'll put the nap listing on there they're all internal linking to other stuff we'll link from the Google Drive Stacks to some of the citations some of the um the press the uh guest posts that we have so we we're kind of tearing it all up as much as we can so we're almost seeing it as being like a the the Google Drive stats got like tier four to tier 3es the tier 2s we can link to Our Guest posts which are also linked to our social Fortress we're just trying to get as many mentions on the internet as we can that come back to what was say Paul Andre Dea: love that love that and my last question of today is If for someone that want to become an SEO professional become an SEO um themselves what would your advice be to them James Dooley: it takes a long time um you're not you Rome wasn't built in a day um and there's a lot of people that come along and they feel like they can learn SEO within two to three months there's so many different nuances from one Niche to the next um you need to understand what good quality content looks like um I'd recommend like joining let's say like IMG um Kyle kind of training program with regards to one page um you need to learn technical you need to learn good Silo structure making certain that the site's build that it's fast it's loading fast that um you've got good cash input on there like Cloud flare and stuff like that that you understand what what actually a good bat link looks like um all this takes time if you want to be a plumber you've got to go through three four years where for training to be a qualified plumber the the whole the whole like saying is it takes 10,000 hours of training to be an expert in a field it's the same with SEO um don't just go and think that you've gone and done a a NE pel course and you've got a 10-hour course and now you're an SEO expert um you it I'd also say that don't get too demoralized if you do get hit with a a Google penalty growth is never linear it's always up and down up and down up and down and as long as you're doing the right things long term um you'll you'll earn good money out of it but um go to a lot of meetups go through a lot of masterminds a lot of conferences uh make certain you going come speak PE speak to people like yourself D so when you come in to a meet up come and speak to somebody like yourself go and buy go and buy yourself a drink at the bar and introduce yourself and try and network with people that you think are on a higher level to what you are um to see whether they can help you elevate to see where you are but it's not short term um you've got to put a lot of time a lot of effort in um got to do aot lot of I would say the events are better than trying to learn online because there's a lot of SE myths um shared online and people in the bars at these events will debunk certain myths that you might seem to be what you think is the right way of doing it they might say no no no no go down this route not that route so that's probably the best advice I can give and some people don't like hearing that because they want a push button SEO strategy but the truth of the matter is there isn't a push button SEO strategy anymore Paul Andre Dea: man man that's a solid answer there guys and um for those for for the this episode to Feel Complete for you how can people get a hold of you what are some upcoming
