Episode description

Introduction and Episode 1 of By Our Own Hands.

In 1885, Aoife Dorian of Church Hill, Ireland is summoned to Glenveagh Castle. Despite her fears, she answers the call and is met by a charming English doctor, Dr. Foxlowe—not at all what she expects. She expects a vengeful Mrs. Adair to be waiting for her.

She learns that Dr. Foxlowe has been asked to stay on as the estate doctor and that Mrs. Adair has instructed him to speak with Aoife about the history of the region to better understand the people. Aoife cannot refuse.

This begins Aoife’s account of her childhood recollections which include the infamous Derryveagh evictions of 1861, unsolved murders, an illicit affair and an ancient family curse. She must remain on her guard as she tells her tale until she knows whether Dr. Foxlowe is her interrogator or something else, something else entirely…
