Five on Friday

===

[00:00:00] Hello. And welcome back to inside the click, your creator economy podcast.

Michelle here with your five on Friday, I'm here to break down five things to know in the industry from this past week in, hopefully under five minutes. There's a lot to discuss this week. So let's dive in.

First thing. The Forbes top creator list was released this week. And it's very male dominant. The whole list is really reflective of the industry at large because the methodology for selecting the creators is very convoluted. They say engagement, sales, follower, counts, and entrepreneurial activities. Go into it. But for other Forbes lists, it's a known thing that you need to pay to get on them. So I'm kind of assuming the same thing is happening here and that this list is a bit skewed. It's still good to check it out and see who is recognized. I'll put a link in the show notes. [00:01:00]

Second and third thing. We have two in-person events going on. Over the course of a week. The Amazon creator summit took place this week. And the company shared a lot of content on their Instagram account. Check it out. You can watch some highlights. They posted a lot. So there's a lot of material there where you can dig in. LTK con is also kicking off next week. This is an invite only event, but the fact that they're advertising it so much makes me think that they have trouble actually filling it. Still worth checking in on that next week. I'm sure there'll be sharing a lot of stuff on their socials as well. Both of these events are extremely smart because these are ways that the companies are creating buzz around them in the timing is impeccable because they'll be top of mind going into holiday.

Speaking of [00:02:00] LTK. The fourth thing that I wanted to highlight today is that they put out a beauty shopper study where they identified that creators are the most trusted resource for the vertical. Totally makes sense. Given beauty is a category that relies heavily on individuals in how products will work with their features and their genetics. We talk a lot about beauty on the podcast, but this is partially why creators have a major sway in the industry. And this should be noted going into holiday.

Okay holiday. We're two months away from black Friday and cyber Monday. What are you doing to prepare? If you haven't yet listened to our holiday prep part one episode and make it a point to do some research around some of the following. One what's happening with general shopping behavior. There's a ton of articles coming out about this online. You can see what's going [00:03:00] on this year versus last. Two. What are platforms that you were using saying about holiday this year? And also comparing that to last. But for the platforms that you're on, they should have a lot of materials that you can reference. So you can see what's happening with shopper behavior, and then what's happening with your platforms. The third and final thing is what did you post last year and what was your audience's behavior last year? And what's starting to happen this year. Especially going into October because you've got to start planning for your content. Now, once you know, what's happening in the industry with your platforms in, for you personally, as a creator recalibrate and make a plan.

If you're listening to this by the end of next week, you should have part one of your plan in place for October and November holiday content.

Thanks for listening, follow rate, review, and share [00:04:00] with your network. We really, really appreciate you all.
