Hello everybody. Welcome back to How Come. Happy holidays and get excited for an amazing episode with wonderful hilarious comedian Lisa Lennis. Um, we are talking about lots of stuff. This episode we talk about late blooming uh and teen pregnancy. But trigger warning, there is talk of weight. and weight loss and weight loss surgery and um different people's feelings about it. And different people's feelings are valid, especially when they're about their own bodies.

Um, I feel like people are all doing like the I'm eating so much during Christmas and New Year's and then like I'm just gonna like on New Year's Day become like a new person and and go to the gym and eat less and whatever and

If that's like the track that you're on and you feel good about it, that's fun. But I don't know. I personally get into hyperfixating on it territory. It's it is hard for me to get healthier. Um like I am like, oh, I should go to the gym. But then it all becomes about like what I look like instead of becoming healthier. So it's a slippery slope for me. And presence. And just being around people that you love. Yeah. I think that's just what it is. Point like point blank. Like it's just I just want to be around you because I like being around. And this is an excuse for it. Yeah. We saw each other recently at one of those excuses to see people. I think it was like a holiday party or

Oh no, it was New York Comedy Festival party. Also a reason to see people. I had a blast. I had fun. I don't know. Second city did it. They did it up really nice. They did it up really nice. The photo booth was the best part. Yeah.

And you and I, I don't know how we got into the conversation, but you basically were like, Yeah, I like didn't have sex until I was thirty years old. Oh yeah. I did um we were talking about it with Biley Lasson, another comedian. Oh yeah, duh. And she was like, I did I did Remy's podcast. I was like, Oh smoke it's about and you were like, um Just like sex and like late bloomers and stuff like that. I was like, Oh, I lost my virginity at thirty. Does that count? And you're like, Yeah. Yeah.

Ha ha ha. Absolutely. And it I d I don't think I think it was like too loud and like we were too busy trying to get the DJ to play Bad Bunny. But like we didn't really get into it. So I would love to like discuss today. It's so funny that day after Riley gave me this sticker. I don't know if you could see it. It's Oh my god. It's a little bad bunny heart with a big thing. And she was like every time

We go out, you gotta show them that so they can play that buddy. And I was like, Absolutely. Literally he's up sh I don't know, like eighteen feet above us. And I'm just like bad buddy I think somebody took a picture of me where it says, Can you please play bad buddy cutie pie? And I I just died laughing. It's so funny. And it worked. And he did a great job. He did. That D was amazing. Yeah, he was great. He was better than anyway, whatever. We can so you grew up in Queens. It's not like

people weren't having sex around you, like and I just say that as a fellow native New Yorker, like I felt like the last person standing at like sixteen. Like how Yeah, the age old question. What made you Wait for so long. Were d were you waiting? Technically. Like intentionally? No. A lot of people think it was because of religion or something. It's just like, no. I just genuinely like Everything around me, sex-wise, I was like, this is very unappealing right now.

Okay. Everything being objectified. I'm just like I don't want to be nowhere around this right now. Especially I have a uh I have a sister and she got pregnant at fifteen and that was like I was just like oh that's Another reminder of not to f she's older than you? She's one year older. We're Irish twins. Okay, okay. Is that a slur? I don't know if that's a slur, Remy. I don't know. We're w I'll say it because I'm Puerto Rican. We're Puerto Rican twins. How about that?

Before we get we're like one year apart. We'll have to have some of the Irish weigh in, but that one feels to me like it's just like a custom. Like it's when people say like a Jewish goodbye. What's a Jewish goodbye? A Jewish goodbye is like you're leaving a party, you keep saying goodbye to everyone. And you don't leave. Oh We call her a Puerto Rican goodbye. Okay.

Yeah. Yeah, like saying goodbye. And then an Irish goodbye is you don't say goodbye to anybody and you just leave. Like those things I feel are just like traditional. That's my favorite goodbye. That's a great goodbye. I I I oscillate between the two. Um yeah. So just seeing like my older sister who's like one year older than me. Yeah. Um go through pregnancy and then on top of that she like

because of the pregnancy, she graduated early. So she graduated at sixteen, uh, went to college, graduated college at twenty, went to the military. So just seeing her trajectory and how quickly it was, I was like, this is What happens when you fuck? You're like, she's too successful too fast. It's too quick. Like she's I mean, my sister's amazing. That's not like the normal track that I heard. It's like, so because she got pregnant, she actually became just like

So dedicated to school that she graduated early. I know a lot of people expect me to be like, My sister was a teenage pregnant teenager and Drop out, yeah. And I'm like, no, she's actually very successful, guys. Yeah. I actually really value my mornings. Yeah. And just seeing her just genuinely just seeing her work too hard. I was like, I don't wanna be nowhere near that right now. Yeah. I was like, I wanna be a misfit and I don't wanna involve sex at all.

Yeah. Wait, okay, so it doesn't matter really when she started having sex, but like When she first was having sex, no pregnancy involved, was she telling you about it? No, but I caught her one time and it was just so awkward. I was like, Okay. Why is that man between your legs?

And then I was like, I'm gonna go back to playing things. But she wasn't saying like, Oh, it's super fun or like you should do this too. Like you weren't hearing anything of like the fun parts about sex. We don't talk about that. Like uh a lot because

To be honest, just to hear her talk about sex is kinda gross. I'm like, You're my sister, calm down, please. Yeah, yeah. You know that you're having sex. You're you're supposed to be my big sister. I'm supposed to be the one that's supposed to be a delinquent. Um But like we just we you know, it was never like you should you should try it. It's fun or it was never like that. And also

I No, it's like I don't do it. If you catch me, you didn't see it. Right. And then also I grew up very, very big. Okay. Compared to my sister. My sister was That girl was a size zero when she got pregnant. When she was a zero, I was a size eighteen. No no guy was looking at me.

Well they were looking at me, but it was important like But I feel like they weren't allowed at that point. Like that phobia was like the most rampant when we were growing. Have you ever seen that movie? I just recently watched this movie called Summer Cat. Oh, with Jessica Biel. Jessica Beal, yeah. And Freddie Prince Jr. Freddie Prince first of all, let's talk about Freddie Prince Jr. being my crush.

He was like moon. Gorgeous. I was like, oh I want to eat this man alive. And the thing is is I thought I could escape it now that I'm in like my thirties and I like saw I don't I I think I watched she's all that. Oh yeah. That was a cool movie. And then I was like, I should watch another one of his movies. Turns out I'm A really highly susceptible to the Prince Junior charm. Um so good. It's but summer catch. Summer Catch though is is not a good movie. It's basically like a gender flip.

She's all that. He's like the popular rich guy and he's making over this poor weird fucking art student, whatever. And then in the weirdest thing ever. But each is their own. Yeah. W movie writing back in those days was weird. Yeah. But then in Summer Catch he's like the poor pool boy. Mm-hmm. And she's the rich girl. And she's the rich girl. So it's just like the same movie, but it's but it's not. Yeah. But there but to

bring it back to why I brought it up, there's a character on his baseball team who like keeps getting really drunk and hooking up with fat girls. Mm-hmm and everyone on the team is like Ew, like she's fucking disgusted. Like all this, whatever. And I'm watching this and I'm like, I can't believe that this. like was able to like get green lit for like how fucking bad it is. But then it turns out at the end, he like comes out and he's like, I love big girls.

And he's like and fat girls need love too or whatever And I'm like, Okay, that's kind of like a more positive message, but it's just It's just but you know what people use that word fat and they think it's so offensive. To me it's not. I'm like No, to me it's just a briber. Yeah. Yeah. But because of the way that It it is phrased, it feels like, Okay, well you don't gotta say it like that. Yeah. It's it's how it comes out. It's like

She's fat. She's fat and I love her. She's fat. Or like when they say it when they say like, yeah, I like fat bitches and I'm just like you can phrase that a little bit better. It's the bitches that's the problem. That's the problem. Yeah. Or I can't stand when a man uses females. I'm like No. What are you I shut I physically shut down. I literally I just be like, I wanna end this conversation right now. I'm leaving. Yeah.

Um, okay. So but you were feeling at least at the time that nobody was into you. So you were like it's not on the table for me. It's not on the table for me because And I you know, I s I say this on stage sometimes. I'm like, Thank God I was fat in high school. Mm-hmm. Could could you imagine my face? I would never be a comedian. I would be a mom. I would be a military mom at that. Like, it would be insane. Yeah. I would l I would literally be a a baby making machine.

had a s a bomb if I had the bomb body that my sister has, oh forget about it. I'd be undefeatable. But I could just be pregnant all the time Be pregnant all the time. I would well I don't know about going to school and working But not going to school right I'd be on welfare But no, like it was this you know, I grew up and it was like that time where like

Remember when Brittany had that VMA's performance and she had the snake on her? Yeah. I remember going to school and a kid, a guy was literally like, Yeah, she gained so much weight and I was just like Uh, for that performance? I was like That's insane. So I guess I'm I'm really not excited. So I am huge. Yeah. Huge. I'm more of a Leo B Yeah. I I remember not that performance. That performance I thought everybody I thought she looked phenomenal. She's the most intelligent thing I've ever seen.

But I remember and I had like a lot of eating stuff growing up for a long time. I mean, I'm still whatever. But um when the toxic video came out, I was like, She's gained. And now I look back at it and I'm like It's crazy. We're all crazy. Yeah. Crazy. And even like when you hear things like they said Raven Simone was fat and I was like Uh-uh. She's wasn't fat in that so raven. Uh who else? It was like the Parker's. They said Nikki Parker was fat. I was like, I was like, what?

I thought Hilary Jeff was fat for like The majority of Yeah. No, she was great. Even like now I'm looking at her body, I'm like, girl, she's so thick. She's amazing. But the thing is, all of these things It's just us looking at like with different eyes now and b being like Oh, I'm allowed to find that attractive.

You know, like it wasn't just like I'm allowed to like be a certain weight or be a certain like the thing with Hillary for me was like it was like she's too muscular. Like that's too like manly or whatever. And now I'm like, no, that's like really hot. I'm so happy it's been like normalized. Hilary Dove? Yeah. I never saw her as masculine like muscular. She is muscular. She is. Yeah. She's jacked. Her arms are jacked. Oh okay. See I haven't seen recent pictures of her.

I think the one that really did it for me was Jessica Simpson. Where people were like where people were hating on her so hard after that concert. After she yeah, and it also was a mom. She gave she had two kids after that.

Yeah. And I was like, people are not sensible at all. I think it's really interesting too that like you made the joke of if you had a different body type you wouldn't end up a comic. where like that was so traumatizing when people were shitting on Jessica Simpson and like taking photos. And now I'm like, why did we get into a profession where people literally take pictures of us on stage?

There are moments what is that? There are moments now I look back to when I first started comedy comedy and now where I'm just like, These are two different people.'Cause what people don't realize when I started comedy I was I had already lost. A hundred and fifty pounds. Oh really? And now I've lost another hundred and fifteen. So it's like I continue to lose I was a very, very big girl, Remy. Like I was a big girl. Mm-hmm. Like

I was like four hundred and ninety five pounds. That's how big I was. So, you know, with that saying with that being that furthered along my like not having sex'cause I wasn't comfortable in my body. I didn't think anybody would like me. Yeah. Which now I know it's a lie because there are men that would literally like line up. Line up for me now. Yeah. But it's just like I never knew

Like I never saw myself that way because in my head I was just like, Yeah, I'm fat and I'm funny, like I'm just gonna live my life, I'm gonna have fun. This is not gonna stop me. I don't need to have to have fun. So So but when you decide to get on stage and you are way more than you do now, than you did that whatever, the first time that you're like, I'm gonna perform and have people look at me, you're like not really expecting them to look at you then, right? Like you're like

they're gonna listen to me rather than Well, even to this day, like when I go on stage, I don't wear revealing clothes. Yeah, me neither. And a lot of like my like a lot of my influencer friends are like, Oh my God, you should wear this cute outfit for this and I'm just like, No, because They're not gonna pay attention to what I say. And I think people don't understand. When you're on stage, it's visual, right? It's very visual, but it's a very auditory.

You will not hear what I have to say if I'm over here showing my triple D's on stage. Totally. Especially if you're a man. Totally. You're not gonna hear what I'm saying if I have half of my ass hanging around. Yeah, I think ultimately you can wear whatever you want as long as like you're comfortable in it.

And like that's what people are reading is like is this person comfortable in whatever they're in? Like can I feel comfortable because they feel comfortable? Like I did a show in AC a few years ago where there was like six older guys in the in the front row. And they had been heckling other people and I was like, I shouldn't wear jeans'cause they're gonna see my butt. And they're gonna say something about my butt. And I changed into sweatpants.

it it'll be fine. And they still like were like, Your butt, your butt and like whate and I'm just like They were talking about your butt? They were talking about my butt. I would have I would have see the di the difference between you and I when it comes to that, I I'm known for like shutting down Heckler. Yeah. Like I don't have to like for me I when I first got on stage

Yes, there was that bit of awkwardness because I'm still learning my body. I'm still'cause at the time I had already lost a amount, a chemultuous amount of weight. And I told myself, this this is the the only right time to start comedy. Cause if I don't start now, when will I start? When I'm already skinny, it makes no sense to me.

I'm you're like I've got so many jokes written that require me to be fat certain size. Exactly. Exactly. I need all these jokes out before I become more skinny. Okay. And it's it's it you know, when I first started it was weird. It was awkward. I'm learning my body. Um I had All this self confidence. But when you're on that stage, that shit goes out the window. Totally. Well you did'cause you the with the with the sweat. Yeah, no, I always and and I did clap back at those men.

And it was filmed and then the person who filmed it deleted it. And I will never forgive that person. I think it was a man protecting other people. Of course, men protecting men. Yeah. But For me, when I first started, it was awkward. Yes. What I did learn because uh what people don't know is that when you go to certain comedy shows, they have photographers. What I did learn was my goals when I'm on stage.

'Cause there are moments where like, oh my God. I'll have the mic and then I'll just be like And I'll be like, okay, I need to elongate, elongate. I need to stretch my back, elongate. I don't I don't know how to marry the two worlds. If I am giving an amazing performance, the photographs are gonna be the ugliest things you have ever seen. And if I am giving a shit ass performance, I will look

Stunning. Okay, wait. So when did you start losing weight? Uh two thousand seventeen I had gotten gastric sleep. Okay, and how come? It was mostly health issues, but I'm not gonna sit here and lie and be like, It's my health, it's my health, but it's also like I kinda wanted to see myself better because society will see me better. Yeah. I would be more acceptable. Which now looking back I'm like, This is so stupid. Mm-hmm. Like I literally I I I got this so I could be so sociably acceptable.

But now that I look back and I will never regret getting it. Never regret getting it. Totally. So my first time on stage was two thousand Eighteen? I know how the pandemic. Oh my god. Oh, I think twenty. Twenty-six? Twenty-six. Yeah. Okay. Do you think c comedy is something that like built up your confidence? Yeah, that kind of pushed it forward. And then when you're For the first I think I wanna say

Two months of my comedy career was not two months, two years was open mics and just getting to know people in my class before started getting booked. And then obviously when that comes when it came down to it you start being in certain circles, you start going to certain parties, you start seeing certain things and you you just start feeling left out. Where you're like, Oh yeah, everyone's doing stuff about me. would throw themselves at me and be like

I would love just to be with you one night. And I'm just like, just one night and I I would make a joke out of it and then I would never like take it serious and then Thank God to this day I didn't fuck a comic. Wow. Because the That makes one of us the first guy I would have fucked would have been a comic and it would have been the dirtiest comic ever.

Oh my god. I'll never forget that day when I w I was about to go um fuck him and then I got like this text thread and I was like From other people who had? Who had. Yeah. And then it was like He was on uh this like uh Facebook page and like other women were confessing too and I was just like, Oh no, I gotta go. Ooh. And then thank God I had like a roster and I just started going down. I was like, Who's who's popping it? Wait, so y but you were hooking up by this point.

Mostly oral. You to them. And them to me. Oh, ever Oh, I don't play. Yeah. I Wow. See'cause I've heard of the classic quote unquote fat girl tale of o only like giving guys head because like, you know, they're insecure about their bodies or whatever. Oh, at the time I wasn't because I lost all the weight.

I see. Yeah. So wait, so you started giving head and getting head around the same time? Yeah. So it was about I I feel like when I turned twenty five, it was like like I started blossoming. I because of the surgery, I was like I'm gonna start doing comedy. And then once I started doing comedy, I was like, I'll I'll start dating. I'll start I'll start experimenting. I'll start doing this, I'll start doing that.

It was just like blossoming little by little until I got thirty and I was just like, This has to we have to do something here. But do you? Because here's my question is one were you able to come from the head that you were receiving? Yeah. That's how I knew what cum was. Yeah. Amazing. And you hadn't come before that? No. That's why I was like, Oh, my my legs shaking. I was like, What is this? And the guy The guy's like, Yeah, that was me. I was like, Calm down.

But yeah, it was a it was an experien like I learned what

And I was only talking about him. I listen. How do I know him? So when I was so oh I at the same time of doing comedy I was in college. Okay. And I was you know, I had a group of girl friends that were

I don't wanna say promiscuous, but they were just they were also in their twenties, right? Yeah. Um, and they were like, You have to get on Tinder, like we have to get you like popped and I was like, I don't know girls. Like I'm I I'm I I don't know what to do. They're like, Girl, you're hot. Men love you. You're funny. You're charismatic. Like everything. Yeah. Everything. Everything. And I was like, okay, I'll get on I'll get on Tinder. I'll get on Hinge. I'll get on all those.

So the first guy I matched with and it was funny because at that time I didn't think anything of it. I matched with him. We had one or two conversations. And then we kind of ghosted each other. I was like, I really don't see anything going on here. Yeah. And then fast forward to like eight months, me and my the same girlfriends were at a bar. It's happy hour for women and this bar is like close to where I live. And then I look down the bar and it's him.

And I'm like, I think that's the guy that we kinda ghosted each other. And I thought nothing of it when I said it. And then I just keep drinking with my friends and then I go back to the bar to get a drink and then he's like He comes up to me, he's like, So are we gonna act like we didn't ghost each other? And I was like, I knew it was you Yeah, yeah, yeah. So then he like uh buys me a drink, we start talking, we start conversating

And then he's like, Do you wanna see my studio? Please tell me that means like a working studio. He's like, Yeah, I'm a rapper and I was like Okay, okay, okay. I was like, Yeah, rapper that's so cool. Would you like to see my studio apartment? No, he's like my studio's around the corner. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And he's like, uh I'm a rapper and I and me drunk. I was like, Oh my god, you're a rapper? That's so cool.

Like, where can I find your music? He's like, Let me go, uh I'll take you to my studio and I was like, Okay. So I go to my friends and I'm like, Hey, this guy's a rapper I'm just gonna go check out his studio. Like I think he's gonna rap for me. I don't know. I feel comfortable. I'm safe with him and they're like Absolutely not. You're not gonna go And I was like, It's okay. And then they're like, Give us your location. So I give her my location.

And then we go into the studio and the first thing he does is like turn the couch into a bed and I was like t what a weird what a weird way to put the the couch. Why would you do that? Yeah. And he's like, Girl Like girl, are you stupid? And I was like Anyways, and he's like, Do you want something to drink? And I was like, Can I get a bottle of water? Wait, but his studio is his studio then? Like that is his apartment. I don't know. To this day I don't know. Thank you.

Like he has a Murphy bed. That's his apartment. Oh my goodness. Or or he has a whole other place. And he just uses butt pitches. Yeah. Yeah. Um so he gets me the water, I drink the water, and I'm like, so what are you gonna rap? And then he just dismisses the question and just goes straight to making out with me. Great. And like pushes me on the bed. And I was just like what a I was like, what's going on here? Like I was like, I'm just going with the flow. He's like tonguing me down and then

All of a sudden I'm like, Wait, are you okay? Like I thought we were I thought we were gonna rap and he's like, Girl Like he's just like the whole time being a hill. The whole time I'm drunk and I'm making quirky jokes. And he's like, You're just too funny right now. And then he's like He puts he puts my hand. on his dick and he can you say that? I don't know you can say whatever you want. Oh, he puts his hand uh he puts my hand on his dick and he's like, This is for you and it was huge.

And I was like, I'm kinda scared. Uh I like go, I'm not gonna I'm I I'm like cupping it. I'm like, I'm not gonna hold you. It's kinda big. Uh you're gonna have to go slow.

And when I said that I was like, I can't believe Wait, this is sex guy? Yeah. I thought wait, are sex guy and head guy the same guy? No. Oh no. Because I'm I I grew up, you know, not being Like sexualize uh Or can I say this? Maybe people were, but you weren't.

Getting it because all the media you were consuming and the society around you was being like, No, nobody could be attracted to somebody like you or somebody you know, but like it wasn't clocking to you that you were standing on business. Wasn't clocking to me. And that you're like and it's not clocking to you that I'm at the beach and people are like into you. Yeah. Just to rephrase a Justin Bieber quote from earlier this year. I just thought he was a friend and I thought nothing of it. Yeah. And at the time I had not lost weight. This was before weight loss surgery. Mm-hmm. And um I went to the club to go pick up my stuff and then he closes the door behind him and locks it and I go I get scared right away. Yeah. I'm like, what's going on? He's like, I want you. Oh my god. And I was like I was like You want me to do what? He's like, I just I I I really like you. I'm into bigger women. This is my thing. Like, let me

Oh wow. And I was like, this is your thing? I was like, how many girls do you do this to? And then Also is locking the door part of the thing? Because maybe removing is a really scary part of the thing. And I was like, I well I think he locked it because secure so the room the way that the room was was at the end of the hallway and the beginning of the hallway was security.

Yeah, no, he did it per for privacy, but it's scary. It's scary, I was like, Yeah. And then thank God I'm the only one at the time in the club that had the key to the room. Yeah. So um yeah, we start making out and I'm just like I'm so confused'cause I'm just like I've never had like this feeling, this sensation and then I started getting like little tingles everywhere and I'm like, Are you turning me on?
