這個《龍樹菩薩傳》是鳩摩羅什法師從他的師長那邊聽聞而傳述出來，由弟子所筆錄。導師說雖然裡面有一些神奇，但是離龍樹當時的年代最近，龍樹的生平還比較真實。我們可以知道龍樹菩薩非常聰明，好在最後出家了，造了《中論》、《大智度論》，我們 現在才可以看得到。龍樹菩薩學了隱身術之後去淫亂後宮，差一點就喪了命，最後體悟到「欲為苦本、眾禍之根，敗德危身，皆由此起」，這貪欲是一切苦的根本，是所有禍亂的根源，敗壞道德、危害身命，都是由貪欲而起
