這個故事有幾個地方值得我們反省的：
人一旦老了，記憶力衰退了，過去的知識學問，現在使不上力了；過去身強體健，有的人喜歡提當年勇，耍大刀啊、殺了多少敵人；現在走路不穩了，只能拿柺杖了。即使有再多的財富，身不由己；想要到哪裡去，需要有人陪著扶著他，權勢也都沒了。健康、眷屬，現在呢，什麼都沒了。所以「崇高必墮落，合會要當離」，我們趁著還可以做主，身體還好，要做善事、修福德、修智慧，一定要趁早。
