這個故事有幾個地方值得我們反省的，就是並不是在諍論道理。有時候我們為了還我公道，諍論不休。其實佛告訴我們：不是只是爭個道理，要注意心裡有沒有起瞋恨心，這個才是重點。瞋恨心有很多的過失，我們要小心，因為瞋恚容易引來人家的輕賤，只會招來惡名聲，也是入惡道的入門，怨害的溫床，造作惡業的根本，所以我們要留意。
