147. From God To Jerry To You | Is God Trying To Get Your Attention?
Scott Langdon [00:00:17] This is God: An Autobiography, The Podcast. A dramatic adaptation and continuing discussion of the book God: An Autobiography, As Told To A Philosopher by Jerry L. Martin. He was a lifelong agnostic, but one day he had an occasion to pray. To his vast surprise, God answered- in words. Being a philosopher, he had a lot of questions, and God had a lot to tell him. Episode 147.
Scott Langdon [00:01:13] Hello and welcome to God: An Autobiography, The Podcast. I'm Scott Langdon, and this week it's time again for another installment of our series From God To Jerry To You. This week we bring you a brief message from Jerry called: "Is God Trying to Get Your Attention?" It's an interesting question and one we may not examine often enough. If, as God tells Jerry, God longs to be known by us and to be in relationship with us on a very personal level, why wouldn't God be trying to get our attention in every moment of our lives? As always, we invite you to take in what speaks to you and to leave behind anything you might find not useful to you. If you do find something that speaks to you and is useful, would you consider sharing our work with your friends and family? Remember, episodes one through 44 of this podcast are the audio adaptation of Jerry's book God: An Autobiography, As Told to a Philosopher. And you can access those episodes anytime, anywhere you get your podcasts for free or by going straight to godanautobiography.com/listen/dramaticadaptation. Here now is Jerry. I hope you enjoy the episode.
Dr. Jerry L. Martin [00:02:29] Do you listen to God carefully in case He has something to tell you? I had trouble with that. One day I was driving. Well, you know, we get busy in our daily lives. I was driving up the Washington Baltimore Parkway on the way to New York City for an event of my wife's and was running late. And as I was driving along, I felt it was almost like there was a little buzzing like a gnat or something in my ear. I tried to sort of brush it away, but it didn't go away. So finally I stopped and paid attention and just listened. And when I did that, it was God speaking to me. And He said-- told me to get out of the car. And I said, "Lord, do you know that I'm running late?" "Yes. Get out of the car." I pull the car over to the side of the road, and God had something to tell me that I've now forgotten what, but then He added something that I've never forgotten. And that is, He said, "Listen to me. Even when I whisper." I've tried to do that ever since then as a kind of daily maxim. You might try it too. If this speaks to you, please subscribe and like and share it with your friends. It might be just what they need to hear today.
