With Us for Eternity
This past week we were reminded that Jesus will return for us. Jesus said “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you” (John 14:18), intending to mean the sending of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. But the truth is applicable to His Second Coming too! He won’t leave us here. He will return for us! But He will return for us to take us to be where He is...for eternity. When Jesus returns our redemption will be completed. To be sure, Jesus has finished the work for us in order for us to be i...

With Us in the Future
When we are children we are given the promise that at the end of the day our parent or parents will return home for us. We long for that moment in time. We look for that moment in time because they are not with us and we want to see them so badly. We’ve remembered the wonderful truth that Jesus is with us always and with us always to the end of the age. But this week we’ll remember that the Lord, who is in fact with us always, will be with us in the future too. He is coming for us. He is returni...
With Us in Difficulty
Sometimes we get hung up in our faith, believing that Jesus came to us in Baptism and as we’ll look at in the coming weeks, He’ll come again to take us home to Himself. Somehow, we miss that He is with us not just in our faith walk as we discovered in midweek, but furthermore He is with us when our faith walk goes awry, when our lives are difficult. What a blessing to know that in this world that Jesus promised would bring us “tribulation”, we can know that He is in fact not only on our side but...

With Us in Our Daily Walk
This week we’ve been reminded that Jesus comes to us in the living and active Word of God. We were reminded that while He walked this earth and spoke His Word 2000 years ago, we can know and trust that He continues to be present in our lives through that very same Word 2000 years hence. More than that however, today we remember that Jesus is not just with us in His Word, but He is also with us in our very being! Through Baptism, His words to us in Matthew 28 are verifiably true. Jesus said “I wi...
With Us in His Word
The truth of “God With Us” is absolutely mind-blowing to be sure. Couple that with the fact that He didn’t just come to us long ago, but He willingly and intentionally comes to us in our day and time. Granted it seems different than Him walking this earth and speaking to us in our hearing, but Jesus nonetheless walks among us and speaks to us through His Spirit-filled Word! He didn’t come 2000 years ago and hope we’d grope our way towards Him...He instead seeks us out and brings us to faith and ...

With Us as God
While we accept it willingly, one of the more difficult concepts for the Disciples to wrap their brain around in this idea of “The Incarnation” of Jesus, was that Jesus was actually God...in the flesh. They saw the “flesh guy”. They saw the human being, the Rabbi, the Friend, the Mentor. But they had trouble seeing that He was literally God. Not so for us! We see all that He did and the fact that He raised Himself from the dead and we KNOW without a doubt that He is God. But we need the reminder...
With Us as One of Us
“The Incarnation” ...that ’s what it’s called that Jesus, the God of the Universe, took on flesh and dwelt among us. “The Incarnation” ...the truth of it is a big and mysterious as the phrase itself. Seriously, God became a human being? God..the Almighty God...took on a man’s body? We have great difficulty being able to believe that Jesus was, in all the fullness of the term, a human being. We see the miracles. We see the healings. We see the God- nature...but this miracle working, healer, was a...

Redefining a Safe Life
As we sit at the feet of Jesus this week, we will hear Him Redefine for us all what a “safe-life” looks like. We all know that God has given us good gifts to help us stay safe in this world. From vaccines, to seatbelts, finances, warm clothes and the list goes on and on. But will anything of this physical world lead us to a spiritually safe life? Paul says that our battles are not flesh and blood so we must rely on something beyond the physical for the ultimate safety and security of our lives. ...
