Leila

Hello, hello. Welcome to Fun Fact Friday. We're a weekly show we do facts we do fun we do Friday. Well, Tuesday, sometimes sometimes

David

we record on Tuesday or

Leila

likewise that Thursdays let's talk about that.

David

Tuesday. Yeah, if you have some fun facts for us or a topic or correction, just send us an email mail FunFactFriday.com or hit us up on x. Fun Fact Friday one. The number one not spelled out. Because that would just be ridiculous. Fun Fact Friday one that's too many letters. So we are joined this evening by someone I met over at pod fest down in New Orleans. Me Well, you too. Well, you're always here though. We don't do the show without you. We're

Leila

gonna how to talk. You join me today.

David

Let's bring in our guest, Parker Cain. Parker, why don't you tell us a little bit about yourself.

Parker Kane

Hey, thanks so much for having me. Really appreciate you letting me hop on the show here. Yeah, I'm Parker Cain is a pleasure meeting David at pod Fest in Orlando, Florida. That was a good time. And I'm a beat boxer and inspirational speaker. So I'm open at answering any questions about that. I'm sure there's gonna be some fun facts in there.

Leila

That's rad makes a few things. Yeah. Boxing beats.

David

So like, how many beats can a beat boxer box of a beat boxer could box beats? I

Parker Kane

don't know. But I think that's a good children's book idea that maybe I should do

David

an idea. Yeah, we were thinking of it as a shirt. It's like a beatboxer. You know, like, a picture of a beat boxer. But then like a bubble over their head? No, we're talking about, like, you know, making making the beatbox and noises with with the face with your face. So I was at a meet and greet, you know, like networking party at pod fest. And I'm sitting there talking to Parker. And we're talking actually about Fun Fact, Friday. And then all of a sudden, he's like, hold on

a second. And then the DJ starts yelling his name. And he goes over and just starts beatboxing like crazy. And I was like, Oh, wow. All right. caught you off guard. Right. I was like, okay, part of the entertainment and awesome. And then we talked, we saw each other a couple other times. And there was one point I had walked. So, so much at pod fest, and my feet were killing me. And I saw I was like, Oh, I'm gonna go sit down with them.

They were nice. They were nice at the party. But But yeah, so Leila, did you have any questions right off the bat, or besides the joke when we're above the how many? How many beats? Like when? How does one? Was it just like something you saw? You saw somebody doing? You're

Leila

like, Did you see a box and think that it needed beats in it?

David

There's lots of funds. We do lots of do it. Yeah,

Parker Kane

it was actually in sync. So the boy band, you know, 1990s I was as a little kid and I loved in sync. And Justin Timberlake actually is an amazing singer. But he's also a beat boxer. A lot of people kind of forget about that. He does so much with singing and dancing. But he was also a beat boxer. And I was just obsessed as a little kid. And I saw that and I was like nine years old and I wanted to do everything that he did. You know, at that time to had the bleached tips in my hair

nice. Jackets. Was like, you know, just trying to be like Justin Timberlake. Wow.

David

He's, he's actually pretty like always, I was like, Oh, he's a boy band guy. But then he was on Saturday Night Live a long time ago. And his his comedic timing is pretty good, too. He's a real talented guy. So did is there like a scene where you live of where you can go and like, like, network with other people that are into that, that hobby? Or? Like, is it just kind of just you hanging out with your friends doing it or? Because you know, my

Parker Kane

friends don't even do it? No. No, I I've always been kind of a loner in that sense. You know, I'm in. For those listening. I'm in Idaho. And Idaho kind of is known for being 10 or 15 years behind what other people do. I'm just kind of often you know, coming up with my own things to do something other than potatoes. I guess that sounds to be the common go to.

David

I don't want to be around these potatoes my whole life. I'm gonna be Justin Timberlake, too. Yeah,

Parker Kane

well, actually, so I have a TED talk where I kind of spoke about that. Bing Bing from Idaho just not having much to do and being kind of from a small town and then going on and having like a viral video and McDonald's commercial and stuff, some big things that have happened. And for someone like me from where I am that just is a bizarre thing to experience. Right

David

so like in your you live in like a smaller town or like a smaller area that you said. Did you have say a city or just Idaho?

Parker Kane

Oh, no. So I'm in Boise now. That's a bit bigger, right when I was growing up, I was Pocatello, Idaho. Okay,

David

so real real small tassel like I'm sure everybody there knows you. Like the Pocatello boys on McDonald's commercial. Yeah, if you haven't seen the McDonald's commercial, I'm gonna link it in the show notes. I don't want to I don't want to get a copyright I don't want big big fast food coming for us. Because we say we'd get a copyright strike but we don't do that we're self hosted so we went into that with the in the ledger be more episode vampires. talked all about how that works

with a non YouTube show. But yeah, I find it fascinating. I had a friend who does it he's a musician. And he does mixes beatboxing in with his guitar and rapping and you know, he's got he does the whole thing. But he's not as good as you like he just kind of does a little bit and loops it and in his pedal. He looks at his pedal just because he doesn't he never

found a drummer he liked I guess. So. So when when I told Leila that we're going to be doing a you know episode about beatboxing she's she's like, she just starts looking stuff up. And so we've got lots of facts about beats and boxes coming up. But first. Oh.

Unknown

And now, Fun Fact Friday news with your lead anchor, David

David

because Leila still reading the news stories.

Leila

I forgot. I forgot. We're doing good news.

David

All right. So grab it mine.

Unknown

Real quick, does

David

it the term New in news, it kind of goes loosely. It's not really that. Yeah. But Lucas, the penguin. All right. So Lucas, is a penguin in the San Diego Zoo. Who has a foot condition. He was diagnosed with a condition called bumblefoot. Which, which is a bacterial infection common in birds and rodents. So basic, basically, Lucas? Got a special pair of orthopedic shoes made for him.

Leila

Oh my gosh. So I love it.

David

The shoes were made by a nonprofit called Thera Pol. They make custom products for animals with special needs. So yeah, so the boots and this is a quote from senior veterinarian Dr. Beth Beck. Nice. The boots are cushioned and velcroed in place. So they help Lucas with fully Oh, they helped Lucas to fully participate in the colony and showcase behaviors that are more typical for a penguin, such as climbing the rock swimming, nesting, and finding a suitable means. That's a long sentence

for the boots. Let him do this normal thing.

Leila

Exactly. It's like when you're trying to get a word count. Yeah, we're doing

David

the boots make Lucas very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very happy. Yeah, there are three other words.

Leila

My new story is this dog, that it's a border collie that really likes chasing sticks, like dogs do. But their vet was like, Yo, you gotta start doing that. The sticks could cut his mouse, you know, as I get older, yeah, as they get older. And they started throwing in plastic bottles, because it's doesn't cut his mouth and it's like, kind of in the shape of a stick. It's easy to carry. I guess it's what I would say is what I would say. What?

David

The way you glanced over at me. You're like it's it's easy to carry. Like, I didn't understand what you were saying.

Leila

Oh boy, so when they take him on walks, like get the bottles off the street.

David

So just cleaning up the neighborhood. Yeah,

Leila

that's a huge pile in his backyard. Wait,

David

so his name scruff, right? Yeah, I'm looking at story. So he's a bottle Collie. Oh my gosh. You get it? I get it. I get it. Okay.

Unknown

Parker, Yo,

David

did you bring in a good news story? Or do you have some good news you'd like to share?

Parker Kane

You know, I did not bring a story. No worries. Most I've been trying to think if there's good news, so it's funny. I actually right now part of my nine to five responsibilities at my day job. I'm actually a news producer for six radio stations in Boise. And typically, it's not good or bizarre news, right? It's

David

kind of regular. Yeah, regular news. Yeah.

Parker Kane

So any good news, I think is funny. It's usually about like the Boise zoo or something with animals

David

that we have found. We have found that when you go to a good or uplifting news site that you end up with a lot of stories about animals because it's really easy. Like, any everybody loves animals. Yeah. Well, everybody, you know, I mean, most people love animals, especially if it's a good story about the animal doing something cool. Or somebody rescuing one or, you know, everybody's got a soft spot for a good puppy gets rescued story, you know. So it's real easy for a journalist to go

out and get get a good news story about an animal. We've done a lot on this show. It's just practically a meme at this point. Did you get a animal story? You know? Yeah, you saw both both of ours, robot animals, Penguin, penguin shoes, and a bottle Collie. Those will be linked in the show notes as well. Oh, we already turned off the music. But this concludes Fun Fact, Friday, when

Leila

you turn back on and turn back off. This concludes Fun Fact Friday news.

David

So do you do you know it like have you dug into like the history of beat boxing or like anyth any, like, any cool facts that you would know about it? Or any particular beat boxer or you have any, like anything you'd like to share that you've know from being in the in that milieu?

Parker Kane

Yeah, so I have looked into the history a little bit. I will say it's been a big part of you know, with the origin story, I guess, of hip hop, which was awesome to see. And usually if I meet rappers, they, of course want me to drop a beat so they can start rapping over it, right? Yeah, but I also think it's really interesting that beatboxing comes in so many different styles. Because typically, you know, beat boxing is to replace a drum set and just take care of the kick,

snare, hi hat cymbals the different parts of a drum. And so that sounds the same on a drumset. But when you get different people's bodies and mouths and voices and stuff, making the noise, it sounds different, and everyone's got like their own unique style. So I think that's cool. And it's used as a way this what I'm trying to do with use beatboxing for anyway is to uplift people, when you beatbox for someone that just makes their day like they don't even know how to

react kind of like a magician do tricks with them, you know? And so I've been inspired to use my gift I guess to help make other days. One kind of or to be boxer kind of icons, like Michael Winslow, he's he's like police academy and making noises. He's awesome. Wow, that is a dream. Or go ahead.

David

I have not thought about Michael Winslow and forever but I wanted to be that guy. When I was a kid. I wanted to be able to make all those noises. Yeah,

Parker Kane

he's amazing. I mean, it'd be a dream to meet him someday. And then Tom Thumb, not as famous of a name but he's from Australia and he has a TED Talk where he does beatboxing for every kind of, you know, country or area of the world. The difference though, okay, music and beatboxing and that's really showcases the different styles. Tom Thumb. Yep. Tom.

David

Leila's looking it up. She's, Oh, I thought I thought you were looking it up. We Yeah, one of the like, one of the things that pod fest because that's how we met up is everybody was so all about get like editing out mistakes and, and like making yourself and your guests as shiny as possible. And from our experience, like we have more good responses from the audience when we when we mess up and we you know, show that Yeah, that's fine, whatever. You know,

Leila

Thompson is also a delivery service.

David

Oh, I got said that I wanted to Tom Tom Thumb. It's

Leila

a supermarket in the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex. I have no idea where that is probably in Dallas Fort Worth.

David

Okay, real quick and I hope this doesn't get us any kind of copyright strike but live at the Australian beatbox championship 2019.

Parker Kane

solely for the day, you

David

Okay, so that's TomTom. Now I've got a quick question. Are there words for the different types of cars like I've been looking more into the beatboxing since we were going to do this? That's like noises you make, right? So like the, the more whistling thing that he just did, as in like, the real deep chest reverberation thing? Right at the beginning of that, like, is there words for all that stuff? Do you call them things? Or is it like, you just make the noise when you want to refer to it?

Parker Kane

Yeah, there are words. And that's kind of why I mentioned earlier at the top of the podcast, I think it'd be a good children's book idea, because I think you could literally write out like, and you've got the audience for this. You know, they could reach out to you let you know if this is a good idea or not, if they're if their kids would enjoy this, but literally, like right out sentences and stuff and turn them into beats, and use different letters and

arrangements. And I haven't put enough thought into creating a story out of it yet. But the concept is there and I have used letters a lot. So if you guys are chill with it, I could just share

David

some Yeah, whatever. Where's the real real laid back show here?

Parker Kane

Okay, cool. Yeah, t shirt in your audience a couple tricks. But you've probably heard of the boots and cats.

Leila

Yeah, that's what I do.

Parker Kane

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So the boots and cats thing. My version of that before I ever heard of that was PT K T. And I was the kid in school that had a hard time paying attention. And I would, would sit there with my book and I'd write down different letters and different variations of P TK t. So the P, the letter P, the way you kind of emphasize it is like and that's the bass drum. And then the T is the hi hat. And then the K is the snare. And that's the basically the same thing as

boots and cats. But it's. But then you can change the variations. So like PTTK T, would be. And then this one's a word, a name actually, that's pretty common. It's pretty it works well with the audiences when I do live events. For those who have seen who have seen Star Wars, Chewbacca, like, Chewy, and I won't make you do the, you know, noise, but I can't do the name chewy. If you whisper it, it's. So you could do PT K,

Chewy, PTK, chewy. It's true. And there's all kinds of different ways to make tons more beats.

David

That's awesome. Yeah, like, I never really looked into it. Like, how it's done. But like, it seems like you could really just sit and like, write out in a notebook. What you were going to do, just like you would be writing music. Yeah. I guess I just never put that much thought into it. That's really neat.

Parker Kane

So yeah, yeah. With the distracted kids. So Right. Well, like put a disclaimer for any kid who hears that, you know, this more of a disclaimer for the parents. Their kids are probably going to do this for a while.

David

Yeah, yeah, that's fantastic. Um, so yeah, I think I am going to ask, I'm going to send you a copy of our theme song. And see if maybe you would, you know, do a little a little beatbox over it. Or maybe just like a short little stinger. A couple of seconds with Fun Fact Friday in it. Yeah, you know, once you get your you said, your mic wet and all set up yet, so like rearranging or whatever. That would be fantastic. If we could get that for me. That'd be cool.

And of course, you know, if you don't if you don't want to, that's fine. We're not fun. Yeah, I think that'd be cool. And if we use it, if we use it on the show, we'll we'll cut you in for the Satoshis I'm gonna get you get you set up with a wallet and everything so we can get you a split. Wow. Thank you. Yeah. So we'll talk about that in the value segment. One of the things I went to look you up, right, you know, look at your stuff, and I just Googled Parker Kane. I I'm sure you're aware of

the movie. Yes, that came up. So there's a movie Leila, there's a movie called Parker Kane spelled how Parker spells is, right? With K, A and E, right? Guess who's the star of Parker Kane who Lapidus from last. And it's from 9090. So he's all young and didn't have the beard. Oh,

Unknown

my gosh, we have to watch this movie. No. Oh, it's very inappropriate. We can't watch this movie. I

Parker Kane

was gonna say I think it's our and I think it's like action thriller saying the 90s Yeah,

David

it's a very like, Oh, I'm a bad boy. And I'm going to solve this mystery about this toxic waste time kind of kind of movie. And like he has, you know, quippy one liners. Like the only quote on the Internet Movie Database from this movie. was an it's an brackets. Bad guy just emptied a magazine into a wall behind Parker Kane. And then Parker Kane says, When did you start hating drywall? Or is it something against drywall, you got something against drywall? So I had to go see if

this was like streaming somewhere. And there's a really bad copy of it, like, very badly ripped on YouTube, the full movie. So I'm gonna say I have not watched it. I'm jumping around in it. Because I don't have I don't have time nor inclination to watch this entire movie. But I just jumping around in it. And I saw, like, things I didn't know you could show on YouTube in this movie. I'm like, well, that's interesting. So

yeah, that was That was funny. I thought I'd just bring that up and see if you were aware of it. If you were named after the character, or?

Unknown

I sure hope not.

David

I don't really seem pretty cool in the movie. I mean, he had those quippy one liners, you know?

Parker Kane

No, so I'll share some context on that. I, I do know about it. I haven't seen it. I because of that I've not been able to ever get my own domains or anything. Yeah. So I always tell people, you know, Google me and scroll one link down past the best. That's where I'm at. But then also, as far as what I was named after, I think anyway, so this is a story my dad told me anyway. My dad's name is Peter. And I'm Parker and it's kind of a spider man thing. Wow.

David

We love to get to the family get

Unknown

paid. Exactly.

Leila

But I love Peter Parker. That's, yeah, it's interesting. And then I know my mom

Parker Kane

at the time, too, was reading some book where like the main character's name was Parker. Right. But I can't remember what the book is. But I know it's not that.

David

Yeah. So yes, I named after you. Were you? It was a whole it was a whole process naming you

Leila

because I just tell my friends. I'm named after the Futurama character, but

David

you're not. I'm not know your name. Okay. So your mother's name Phaedra means bright one. Yeah. And your name means dark one. We felt like we needed to be like yin yang in the house. But I was like, oh, Leila, like the let's pronounce it like the Futurama character, but spell it like the Arabic

Leila

like Leila. That's what I get called Leila. Whenever it says my name.

David

And you've got the last name that's, you know, hard to pronounce if you've never heard it. So like, we were like, Let's make it super hard on her so she's gonna correct everybody.

Leila

Exactly. You just set me up to fail.

David

I did. I did. And we we try it. We thought really hard about like kids picking on you because your name and we were like, You know what, Leila? That's That's pretty. That's pretty tough. Right? But then like, after you're born, somebody's like, oh, in college, she's gonna be tequila, Leila. And I was like, Oh, no. Oh, my God. I was like, Oh, now. So anyhow, it would be hard. So tell us about the the McDonald's. How did that whole? Yeah.

Leila

What was it like working with them? Yeah, it

Parker Kane

was awesome. There's a really deep story behind it. I'll try to be as brief as I can. And it's why I feel very passionate about mental health and like making

others days and stuff and encouraging people. But I was as the viral video that happened happened when I was in college, and I was just in a really dark time in my life and I was struggling to a point where, you know, I was considering not wanting to keep going, you know, and I ended up that same night where I was particularly struggling I had a friend of

mine, his name is Shawn, actually still keep in touch. I was on the phone with him a few minutes before I hopped on this podcast and anyway, he invited me to go on like a late night McDonald's run with some friends, you know, been there done that. Yes. And those are the some of the best memories though in my in my life anyway. We went to McDonald's, and obviously he knew my friend that he knew I could be a box, and

some of my other friends knew I could be box. And in particularly, they knew I could be box with a McDonald's Cup, which the story we can get into that part a little later, too. That's a fun fact. But I knew how to be box with a McDonald's cup. So they asked me to show the other friends that were there that had not seen it. So I started showing them and I started beatboxing and some of them pulled out their phones and started recording it. And the whole store the whole McDonald's

restaurant went quiet and just was drawn into this thing. And this was watching me do this. Everyone pulled out their phones. And there's one part of the video I don't know if you've watched the viral video, but there's one part where like, the the restaurant employee was like order 47

Kyle Hebert

or something.

Parker Kane

They're like the one person not paying attention.

David

I still got work to do. Yeah,

Unknown

who's this guy? It was,

Parker Kane

it was freaking hilarious. But yeah, so that video at a time, I didn't know what I wanted. And I was really confused with where I was going in life. And my friend asked me like, do you want this video? Do you want to post it? And I said, No, I don't. I think it's garbage. Why would anyone post that? You know, as I thought it was stupid. And as mainly because of my own self negative talk, whatever, right? But my

friend Sean, he posted it on his Facebook. You know, he's, you know, your typical, you know, friends got a couple 100 followers on Facebook. But it's not like he was celeb status or anything. The next day, it had over 56,000 views. And by the end of that day, it was over a million views. And by the end of that year, it had crossed over 600 million. And today, it's over 1 billion views. So that viral video just absolutely took off completely out of my own control. But I took it as a sign

of like, okay, I'm meant to be here. And I meant to keep going. And I meant to keep doing what I'm passionate about, and helping others do what they're passionate about, regardless of how weird or like assuming their talents are that or if they think that they can use it for the better. Right. So that's kind of the message but yeah, McDonald's saw that as a free advertisement essentially. Right. And so McDonald's reached out to me and they were like, hey, you know, thanks for the

free advertisement. Our coke sales are through the roof. tons of kids, you know, buy tickets

David

sitting in their local McDonald's trying to do it and just blowing coke everywhere. Yeah.

Parker Kane

Yep, exactly. And then they, they reached out and asked if, if I would do an official McDonald's commercial, you know, they'd pay me for us. They fly me out to Los Angeles, we do the whole like, official thing. And then they played that as a, like a 15 second ad for like YouTube and Hulu commercials and streaming ad. Right. That's awesome. And I

still have it on my YouTube channel. And I've from there, I actually went to Nashville and lived with this whole other long story but lived with the former senior vice president of McDonald's and did a an internship in Nashville and did some speaking at their corporate events. And this, they really did a lot to help me out in college and right after college and still to this day, it's a very reputable brand to be associated with,

David

right. Yeah, so we had some obviously not that big of a story. But when Leila was about four, I made this silly videos playing with a video editor. Yeah, and I made a video of her playing her little plastic, fake drums and a video of her playing her fast, you know, little recorder and like I had her stand in different spots in her room and made three of her essentially. And it was just noise, right? It was annoying. And I was like, Oh man, somebody will get a kick out of this. I

put it on YouTube. It went it got a couple 1000 views. The first app uploaded it. It just kind of went around And a media company that does media licensing. Said, Hey, can we put this in our database? Basically, you'll get paid if we ever sell it to anybody. Well, years and years later. What's the company, Oregon, Oregon pest control pest control company,

Leila

it was watching YouTube on the phone. Like, immediately once I got up, so I didn't know it was happening. And I was watching YouTube. And this ad of me pops up on my phone. And I'm like, Why can't be me, this has to be like a fever dream. So I wait. I wait until like, my, my friend was over my house. And we were watching YouTube together. And I popped up on the screen again. And I was like, this wasn't a dream. And she

David

didn't tell it. Like she didn't tell me about this. Somebody else I know is like, Hey, I think I just saw Leila on a YouTube ad.

Leila

about it. You just got like your own? What? Or I don't know. Anyway,

David

long, long story short, I go and log into my account that I made with these people years ago. So I can get paid if they ever use anything. And let there's just a pile of money sitting there. Oh, cool. Yeah, you gotta cut I didn't get it. You bought a bass guitar with it? I

Parker Kane

did. That's awesome. Yeah, I've been through that too, with the those kinds of companies and they, you know, they get paid if we get paid if they get paid, you know, so they're incentivized to get it out there. And that is kind of what helped me land some other opportunities with like, miracles got step Got Talent, Steve Harvey ridiculousness, things like that, that that company actually was just trying to get that video played at all those different platforms. That's cool.

Leila

I was going to say, I don't remember in the in the ad that I was in, it was like, working helps keep this video this house pest free. And I was like,

David

really? Yeah, it was just, it was a pre roll ad. So it was like five seconds long. So it was like, you know, it was it was funny. But yeah, we're getting getting close to your heart out. And I think we will, actually, we'll just continue after you after you pop out. And we'll do our value for value segment. And you can come back and listen to how we, you know, we talked about value for value, because I know you wanted to talk about that. And actually, let me I'm gonna pause for one

second. And we're back. And we're back. At some behind the scenes stuff to talk about stuff that y'all can't know about.

Leila

Anywho anywho Do you have any facts about beats or boots? I mean, boxes? Yeah. pizza boxes?

David

Yeah, yeah, the facts about pizza box,

Unknown

I would say is that for David or for me?

David

I've got a lot, but I was just gonna offer Parker Parker Do you want us to? Do you want to shout out to anybody or any site that you want us to plug or your podcast or any of that stuff?

Parker Kane

Really just my website, Parker kane.co. And there are people can find the podcasts if they're interested. That's just inspiration for creative entrepreneurs. And then what I'm urgently seeking right now, I guess, for 2024 is just more events to speak and beatbox at but they can vote that they're

David

awesome. That's awesome. That sounds great. Yeah, we'll link to everything. We want to thank you for joining us. And we'll talk later when we're gonna talk about some podcasts and people I know stuff, some value for value stuff. I want to get you on that system. It's really, really cool system. But we're gonna let you go because I know you got other things to do. You're busy man.

Parker Kane

I appreciate you guys for providing the space and given me this opportunity. And I hope I was able to deliver something entertaining and valuable to you and your listeners.

David

I think so. Great. It was coming on. Fantastic talking to you. And we will we will talk later I promise us. Well, that was fun was fine. He was like, wish he could have stayed longer. But yeah, he's got stuff to do. Like I said, busy man. Real quick. I do want to talk about some beats and some boxes. Oh, yeah. I wanted to beat box. One

Leila

that I wanted to say. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Well, you told me the car. Yeah, there is a museum for boxes. In France, I believe Paris. It just says France. It says France, but it's Muzej do cartonnage it's the impedir or Pierre a. m in Premier imprimerie imprimerie imprimerie but it translates to like cardboard box Museum. Did you translate? Oh no, let me look at Da

wanted to do it. You do it. I'll do it. Okay, you do it.

David

Okay, so,

Leila

first,

David

how do you spell MUUS?

Unknown

E.

David

Just typing pronounced. Okay, that's the Louvre.

Leila

Oh my gosh, I'm just running through translate. I thought we're running into the France. I don't translate.google.com

David

So it's completely dedicated to museum completely dedicated to the cardboard packaging and boxes. Yes.

Leila

I love it sounds fantastic. If you want to go to go to France, just say you want to go here?

David

Like Yeah. Oh, are you gonna go to that museum? Whatever it's called. Yeah, we're gonna go to it. Oh, my goodness. Oh, there's pictures. There's pictures. Hold on. So these pictures of these cardboard box Museum. Okay, let's see. Oh, it's got like the machines that make the cardboard boxes. It's got. It's got a tree made out of cardboard. Oh my gosh. It's got cardboard pictures like pictures of cardboard. This place looks amazing.

Leila

Okay, so they ever go to France? We will go here. Okay, like a million dollars. Because it might be the

David

first corrugated cardboard box. Joseph cardboard box Joseph cardboard box when he accidentally glued a bunch of paper together.

Leila

So when did we get that joke?

David

I don't remember. I remember the origin of it. But I don't remember when we started it on the show. It

Leila

translates to cardboard and printing museum by the way. Ah, gotcha.

David

So it was Sir Malcolm Thornhill made the first box of corrugated cardboard in England. And 1817.

Unknown

Wow, wow.

Leila

So that revolution, and then the cardboard boxes?

Unknown

Oh, no. What's going on? No. Oh, the the American Revolution little bit after the revolution. The American Revolution was like, what

David

revolution? There's been more than one revolution and the only one that matters that matters? No, I'll tell you the French Revolution. I watched a YouTube video one night it was four and a half hours long. And I watched the whole thing. It was interesting. I love it. So yeah, we got some, one of the things I found about beets was that the entire plant is edible. From the total Yeah, leaves. I actually did go we actually went up and looked up beats and boxes even though we

Leila

were just, we're just I was gonna look up Battlestar Galactica. You get it? You get it? Because it'd be some boxes, battles heart beats,

Unknown

boxes, Battlestar Galactica,

David

you know, get with a guy on it.

Leila

Get it got a band. Yes, ma'am. So yeah, all

David

the way all the way down. From the very tip of that little pointy long tip of the beat all the way up to the top of the plant is edible. So you can eat the whole thing should I go eat when?

Leila

Sure. We are challenged for whoever loses the imperial system thing. Oh, hold

Unknown

the whole raw, a whole raw beat.

David

And then you got to post a picture cuz you're gonna be dyed red. I hate I've never had raw beat or cooked I've only ever actually had like as a, like, cooked into something. And I've only had one bite and I didn't like beet. Be like that. So beets are high in fiber,

Leila

beets, a little turnips, folate,

David

vitamin A and K and a very good source of manganese, copper and potassium. So yeah, this this gag of, you know, beets and boxes for a beatboxer coming on. I don't think we need to go that much further into that. Well, yeah. So one thing that we did say we're gonna save for the show, because we're gonna have a conversation about oh, my gosh, the DJ. Oh,

Leila

I can't believe we didn't talk about this with him on their list. I hope you're still listening. Because this morning, he was driving me to school because my bus was weird, or something. And the DJ on Spotify. We just turned him on. Because he sometimes has good music sometimes, but then he was like, here's your usual beats on a Tuesday. And we're like, it's Thursday.

David

And we figured, okay, so this was just stuck in the queue. Yeah, probably from Tuesday.

Leila

And then later in the conversation with the DJ. It was like, here's some usual songs you get down to on a Tuesday. Like If like I told you anything was about Tuesday, I told

David

it to do the reshuffle thing. Like when you when you want it to like reshuffle your DJ algo Yeah, it's supposed to like, you know, do a full refresh. Nope. It was still stuck on Tuesday. It was I don't know, it was just really funny. So all day today everything. Leila narrowboats is random to Tuesday. Because he just say Tuesday, the way he said it

Unknown

was anyway, picking me up from school on Tuesday. So

David

this is a terrible way to transition into the value for value segment because that little segment we just did about Tuesday was boring. Unless you were there, wasn't it? Are we losing our grip? Are we not professional? podcasters anymore? All right, it'd

Leila

be a good episode. Do

David

it. Well, yeah, we yeah, we

Leila

got a lot of new viewers. Oh, yeah. Yeah, we

David

we have a whole our numbers. I don't typically look at the numbers. But I want I wanted to look at them after we got on baby boomer.org. And, yeah, we our numbers shot up this week. We do a nice little boost in listeners. Yeah. So yeah. Hey, everybody. Hey, what's up? Fun Fact, Friday is a value for value podcast. We don't do ads. But we do. Ask you. If you receive any value from our show, any at all, that you return that value. It can be by coming on the show and being

an expert or pretending to be an expert in something. Yes. Or helping us out with art or music. Or you can send us a little send us a little treasure like these folks did using the boost feature in my modern podcast app to the podcasting 2.0 value for value. Standard, I guess you'd call it. Sure. So you can go to new podcast apps.com and actually just podcast apps.com look for a new podcast app their

Leila

mountain, everyone usually uses. Fountain fountain.fm is

David

really popular. And it's it's a pretty well built app. I use it quite a bit for boosting and whatnot.

Leila

But it's a good beginner one. Yeah. Get into it. Real good.

David

Real good. Good stuff. You actually I believe on fountain you can earn earn money by listening to podcasts. So yeah, so we got some boosts we got from 250 SATs from creativity found which is Claire, who I also met at pod fest. This is for the radioactive episode 174 Last episode, Claire says Aw, shucks. Thanks for the mention. See you soon, Claire. Yeah, I'm talking to Claire next week.

Leila

And awesome.

David

She boosted that same exact thing twice. I don't know if that was a mistake, Claire. If you want that to enter in for the SATs back you just let me know.

Leila

Or if you just really want to see see as soon again, right and really thankful for the mansion, right?

David

Just 2x times two, right. And then the next one, I Leila you want to read the next 118 76

Leila

I'm just listening on the radioactive episode. They said great episode, check out the banana equivalent dose. Very cool. The nut and saddle on a guitar are made of bone. And they're two of the main points where the string touches of the instrument. Oh, that's what I was talking about. With the with the boning. Right? Yeah. Okay, so the density and hardness of the bone transfers vibration as well. And it's also very durable and easy to work with. I agree. Yeah,

David

so that 1770 success from just listening and that's the freedom boost freedom boost. Yeah, I was I was trying to think of the nut and saddle that was the words I was trying to think of. is like I know all the parts of the guitar but they just weren't coming into my head. And then another boost from from from creativity found Hey, Clarion another 250 SATs were using fountain oh my gosh, Episode 173 Now I gotta read this one to you because it's kind of to you. Oh, no about

you. You know, Ed Sheeran is a national treasure in the UK right? I think Leila may have committed treason. Oh now being human was a great UK TV show about a vampire werewolf and ghost to live together I have checked it out. I've seen seeing that. Oh continuing to boost check it out if you can find it. It was on BBC small x small x Claire small t small kiss Thank you Claire for that but that boost and yeah, I think Leila

can't ever come to the UK now. Yeah, they're gonna they're gonna know like she's gonna get to the airport and Ed Sheeran is gonna be there and he's gonna beat me up and a bunch of Ed Sheeran lookalikes.

Leila

Yeah, Ed Sheeran and Ed Sheeran stunt doubles. You're all gonna gang up on me and beat me up

David

like on Scott Pilgrim. Yeah. Yeah, just like that. Me and my stunt team.

Leila

Exactly. That's exactly I was gonna add

David

shared listens to our show.

Leila

Hey, Ed.

David

Hey, we're just messing around. Yeah.

Leila

Are you barefoot on the grass right now? Is this your favorite song? Is this part of one of the songs? Oh, okay. Because believe it or not, I have listened to Ed Sheeran music.

David

I don't know if I ever have you

Leila

have I promise you okay, I'm not gonna play any right now.

David

No, no, let's not, let's not play any copyrighted music on

Leila

our show. I'll place them after the show. Alright, so

David

that's our boosts. We also received some Pay Pal. So finally, we got some paid once a month. Yep, once a month. We get these these two and then we have a new one. So let's we'll talk about our monthly Oreo donation from Dred Scott. Thanks Drib. So much $19.12. That is our sustaining donation that keeps the server's whirring along and keeps us independent. And that is 1912 Because that's my Oreos run, Vinod. Thank you drab. And also thank you, if you listen to the show on a modern podcast app

and you enjoy that chapter art that's drab. You can thank him. Cardboard

Leila

boxes were made before Oreos. Yes,

David

cardboard boxes existed? What would they couldn't make them without boxes to put them in? No.

Leila

They could have put them on the ground. Like I'm assuming that nothing else was invented except for Oreos, and

David

the only thing that was ever really Laxus. And yeah. So we're 19 before anything 12 $10 monthly sustaining donation from Steven Grimes. Thank you so much. And then we have a new monthly sustaining donation. And it was from our very first supporter.

Leila

Oh my gosh,

David

Sherry Laurie.

Leila

That's amazing.

David

We're very excited to have Sherry Laurie on the board as a monthly. And that that also that helps us out because our hosting costs have gone up.

Leila

The first donation we got was from Sherry Laurie. And he was like, I was playing a video game or something. And he burst into the room. He was like, we can donation. And I was like it was very exciting. It was very exciting. At first like somebody

David

somebody thought our show was good enough for that money wanted to support it. And they wanted us to continue doing it. And they wanted to show us that by helping us out and what we did, we immediately went and spent it on ice cream.

Leila

Absolutely.

David

Immediately. Like it wasn't even in our bank account yet. It had gone to PayPal and eBay. PayPal hadn't even send it over yet. We bought we spent it on credit.

Leila

It's amazing now, but yeah, if you want to support the show,

everything in the show notes that we talked about today. And oh some more because actually some of these beats and boxes facts are pretty fun. A lot of them are just kind of like you know, 80% of all products sold in the US and the EU are packaged in cartons. Yeah, that's just kind of a pretty

Leila

like what you would think. Like, yeah, I'm pretty sure that would be right. Yeah.

David

I mean, there's no there's no like surprising facts about

Unknown

a cardboard box. He made the loop. Like

Leila

we should make that on a t shirt, cardboard.

David

Cardboard boxes won us World War Two. Exactly. You know anywho Anywho. I hope everybody has a fantastic weekend. David

Ashlynn speed is a racecar driver. And she is 17 and I've been watching her videos and stuff and it looks awesome. Like I'm a little jealous that these cars but yeah, I have a I have a somebody that I watch on YouTube name sound speeds. So that's why I put that s on there. That was a mistake. And I apologize.
