David

Hello, yo, yo. Welcome to the second recorded show, and this has been a nice yeah. Fun Fact Friday, where weekly podcast where discuss fun facts surrounding a different topic each week. If we mess up, shoot us an email mail Fun Fact friday.com Or if you have topics or anything I kind of got through the intro way earlier than this on. Yeah. I'm David and we have another guest. me last week. No. Last year is me last. Oh, that's Leila over there. Yeah. I'm Leila. We're in

a we're we have our first in studio guest. So

Leila

we're over on the other side of the shed this time. Yeah. The studio

David

that. The Shed. It's a shooting studio. We have Elijah more. Hello. Elijah Moore. Why don't you tell us a little bit about yourself? Well, I take a sip of my tea.

Leila

Oh, hold on. Hold on. There you go. There's your weekly, monthly opening.

Elijah

See the funny thing is he said let me take a sip of my tea and you open not tea. I'm allowed to be more i six foot tall. I like long walks on the beach. Who this is a dating show,

David

right? Yes. No. No, I don't like long walks in the sand. Yeah, actually,

Leila

the second I like

Elijah

being me. Loves Me too. Oh, well.

Leila

This is actually the second edition of Flavor of Love. Eliza

David

of love. But yeah, I met Elijah at an extra life event, which is a charity video game. 24 hour marathon where you raise money for we were raising it for Duke Children's Hospital. This was yours.

Elijah

This? Yeah, this. I was like 15 or 16 Right when I started and I'm not that anymore. So it's been like, over 10 years.

David

I'm trying to I'm trying to remember the games that were coming out at the time to try and put a time on. Oh, plants vs zombies. The

Elijah

3d shooter version, right? Yes. Garden Warfare the first one that had just come out. CT. Yeah, the playable teaser for what was supposed to be Silent Hills, right. Got kids ended up getting canceled. I played that. I think that was the night we met. Yeah. That was Lord here on the night we met.

David

But yeah, that was that was what I remember about you. Because you were sitting there and you had the headphones on and you were scared. You're so scared of this game. It was so funny watching you play Oh, one

Elijah

of one of our friends. I wish I could remember his name. It's been so long since I've seen most of those guys was walking me through it. He had the the walkthrough right. And he would be saying, Okay, go up and look through this door. And I'm like, I don't want to he's like, Well, that's how you progressed the game. I'm like, I guess we're done them because I'm not looking through this.

David

But yes, that is that is a very horrifying game. If you can ever it's called PT. It was a teaser for a bigger game that was supposed to come out that never did. And it was a shame because it was very well made. Yeah, but that's where we met. Elijah has been on meatus pod wise.

Elijah

Yeah, I think you've

David

only been on once.

Elijah

I think I did two voices on. Right.

David

Right. Right. Again, yeah, years, years and years ago, but I think he's he's wanting to come back and do another voice or two. Let me just keep your eyes out for that. But our episode this week, what are we talking about? We're talking about vampires were facts about a fictional we think saying but we're talking about we're talking about the lore,

you know, like, right, where it came from and, and all that. But as you know, in our typical Fun Fact, Friday fashion we will be will be going off topic a lot.

Elijah

It was funny trying to look up facts about this, where I would start out by searching vampire facts, and saw a bunch of sketchy websites that would say are vampires real? Like

Leila

halloween.com

Elijah

Yeah, I was on that one. There was I can't remember. I don't know if I'll be able to find it now. But it was it was a weird website to have vampire effects. What was it? Well, spirits Good Housekeeping, the Community and Technical College Library. Why they have a I've

Leila

gotten some really weird facts on like, the Reader's Digest. And I think it's hilarious.

David

But typically on the show, we will go over like what do we do a good news story, but we did not have time to look up a good news segment. Are you looking at one up you're gonna get one go? I'm

Leila

sure we can't find any because I didn't find it yesterday.

David

Now. It's okay. And we will not be having a support segment on this episode because we just did one on the episode we recorded last night. Yeah. And so if you have support did the show in the last, let's say week and a half? We will get you on the next one. So all right, so what do we have for vampire? Lore facts? You want me to go first? Sure. A group of vampires. We always love these, like what a group of something is called. It can be called a clutch, a brood. Love it a

coven, a pack or a clan. So I guess hmm, whichever person's writing the story can kind of make up their own name. So

Elijah

yeah, I, I was on a TV show that had a lot of vampires and witches and werewolves, and one fairy. And that was me. And I'm trying to think what we called a group of vampires. Because witches had their covens right where we'll set their packs, but I can't remember what what word we use for a

David

flamboyant vampires. Like Flint, like flamingos is a group of flamingos is a flame boy

Elijah

and what to say what was the clutch clutch sounds familiar? Clutch brood brood? Maybe it was brute? I don't know. I don't know. I really came prepared for this.

David

We've been excited.

Elijah

We picked this topic exclusively because I was on a spin off of Vampire Diaries. And I'm like, what are they?

David

Yeah, well, Elijah was on CW is legacies. He played a character who was a fairy. I was and it was awesome. Because like he had this great scene, I think. Season Three, season two, season two. And he like he had his big moment where he like got his wings and everything was awesome.

Elijah

Great. I loved shooting, because it was real wigs. I had practical, you know, these like 810 foot wide wings that I was walking around all day and they got to be heavy as heck. But they, they were gorgeous and a lot of fun to wear. Right?

David

And I remember you posted pictures after the episode aired because you couldn't live your life like that. Yeah,

Elijah

I told cuz when I got cast, I was working on a food truck for this guy. Derek. Funnily enough wearing the t shirt of that food truck right now the Bochy Express don't exist anymore. And, you know, if you've ever worked in the service industry, there's a certain level of service industry humor that especially men that are you know, conform to heteronormative stances. There's a lot of jokes in the in

the restaurant industry. And I when I got cat or I was cast on it and working on the food truck, when I got the script that said, I'm my line was I've been misdiagnosed. I'm not a witch, I'm a fairy. I went to my boss's house to pick up a check. And I said, Derek, you can't tell anyone this. This is like whatever. But I just need to read this. I think I've been misdiagnosed. I'm not a witch. I'm a fairy. And he just leaned back close his eyes and when this is the greatest moment. So

shout out there. It was great. I love being a fairy.

David

Right? I bet. Well, I remember another vampire show called Trueblood had Fae folk, which is very right. And they had like the whole lore. Like it was really neat. Because after I saw that I went back and actually looked into the real lore of it. And there's a lot it's a lot more there a lot more like an interesting being instead of just like what Disney made,

Elijah

right? Yeah, it's not all Tinkerbell and I, when I we call it my coming out episode, right? When I'm revealed to be a fairy. I would start getting DMS on Instagram and Twitter. of people one liking fairies, but also there will be some people

that were like really in to like Fe lore right? And I remember one one particular person DM me and it was like, you know, hello, I'm not sure if you know this, but as a fairy, you're actually one of the most powerful supernatural creatures and sent like, multiple paragraphs of like Fe abilities, right? Everything. And I'm like, Cool. But since I was the first and only fairy in our in show universe, the DVD universe. We could just make stuff up. We could just be like, you know,

can he does he have healing powers? It's like yeah, sure. Yeah, fair enough.

David

Yeah, sure. We'll do it. Hey, it fits the plot. Exactly. And that's how we're writing the episodes. So yeah, that's Lauren. Absolutely, and I loved that. And that's what's like when you go to look at lore for fictional thing, especially something that says, pervasive as vampires or werewolves, every writer who's ever touched it has kind of like, okay, so these are the rules for vampires, but I really need this one to not

apply. Exactly. And I thought the Vampire Diaries actually at the beginning did it well, with like having a ring, the daylight ring that would let them go out. And so for the fun facts part of it, my understanding of the Vampires powers, until I until the more recent vampire craze of 15 years ago or so. Was that you can't go in the sun. Where's your vampire? You can't go on the sun. Garlic repels you but doesn't actually hurt you? Yeah. And then you can't cross. You can't go into somebody's home

unless they invite you. Right? You have to sleep over soil from your homeland. Ah, right. Yep. And then, what was Kent cross running water? And directly? If you have, like, if you made like a bridge, you could cross over not a bridge, but you can't be the bridge can't be made of wood. It has to have dirt on it. Oh, yeah. So they have some interesting yeah, like over the years. I don't know. I just learned that one. And again, different authors different. Sure. There's the whole mirrors

thing mirrors, but what Gil mo Del Toro in the strain. I like the way that he changed that modern mirrors. Vampires can see the reflection in not Silverback, right, but the silver, silver and silver hertz vampires. That was another rule. And the only way you could really kill it was a stake through the heart, right? Yeah. Or full exposure in the sun for an extended period of time. That was the only two ways that I knew of To Kill a vampire. But again, there's different lore

different you're even going back in time. Even in Mesopotamia, like the, you know, 1000s and 1000s of 1000s of years ago, they had lore

Leila

about members, I forget, to me even exists.

David

We think it exists. I wasn't there. So Right. Yeah. And we don't know anybody that

Elijah

is it? I think They Might Be Giants song or the Mesopotamian.

David

I'm familiar with it. They Might Be Giants but never heard. I think

Elijah

it's a myth. So poets Amiens song, well, yeah, They Might Be Giants. Yeah. Sargon, Hammurabi, Aashirvaad. Palin, Gilgamesh. That's when I first learned about the Mesopotamians was through. They might be

Leila

learnt in sixth grade, but I forgot all of it immediately.

David

Do you know what I learned from They Might Be Giants? The sun is a massive incandescent gas. No, Istanbul was Constantinople. It was now it's Istanbul, not Constantinople,

Elijah

even old New York was one New Amsterdam. Oh, why they changed it. So

David

I've also found out about them. When they do a concert. They also earlier in the day, do a kid's concert. No kidding. That's cool. I always they always do that. And then that they're doing. They always do a show for the kids. And then do you want

Elijah

to be jealous? I saw them at the Ritz five months ago. So great. They did the entire flood album, which I think is one of their best albums as well as I think they interspersed a couple of songs that weren't from the album that were just like, you know, their hands. Right. But gosh, they

David

put on it because you got to play. She got to play a couple of the hit. Yeah. The Ritz that's that's in Raleigh. I saw bush there. Oh, yeah. It was their first show of their tour. That was a couple of years ago, really. And it was it was amazing. It was really great.

Elijah

Someone I was we were talking about music, DJ, I DJ at a bar in Chapel Hill. And I was trying to think of some weird suggestions that I've gotten. Someone just last week requested glycerine. Right and I'm like, Great song not really are going not the good vibe to go after like Party in the USA and REDcard. Hard to hard to ease into glycerite Blitz raid,

David

so who's familiar with the Muppet vampire?

Elijah

Oh, on his Wikipedia page right now.

David

Count von Count von Count is based on an actual vampire myth. One way to supposedly deter a vampire is to throw seeds, usually mustard outside of a door or a place fishing or place a fishing net outside a window. Vampires are compelled to count the seeds or the holes in the net, delaying them until the sun comes up. So it's like so

Elijah

yeah, literally, they're just like, well, I have to count all this rice.

David

I might die if I do it. I kinda have to what what I had

Elijah

read further into that was that apparently it's it's again, we're talking about fictional creatures here so of course, but one explanation I heard is like it's their way of marking time because they're immortal, right like yeah, I can count this whole bag of mustard I can I'm pears I have all the time in the world. I

David

can count all the sand on the beach. Yeah. So that

Elijah

way I pulled up his Wikipedia page, because he's awesome. Because he's awesome. And yeah, Count von Count and one of the paragraphs in his thing is the count has been shown with a number of girlfriends who tend to be vampire contests is a player with his number of girlfriends.

David

One vampire girl

Elijah

I'm ready for a fact. All right, for I've got this kind of a twofer where, supposedly Another myth is that only redheads could become vampires. Where

David

does that come from? Doesn't say no. So we

Elijah

rent redheads. Always Always. My sister and my nephew are both redhead so I No comment. But they always kind of draw the short end of the straw in history or they're either possessed by the devil or vampires or whatever. Right Sharon. Here's Ed Sheeran. Yes, I will. I will stand by Ed Sheeran.

David

I think

Elijah

a lot of songs are very poppy. I'm a little too much.

Leila

I'm okay with Ed Sheeran. He's just a really funny looking dude.

Elijah

Yes. He's he's a very Ronald Weasley look and it's

David

the look because like Leila will be surfing. Yeah, Pinterest or whatever. And then Joe, Ed Sheeran jumpscare.

Elijah

Okay, so here's the part two of only redheads can be vampires. I don't know how to reveal this information. So I'll just say it as it was written on this website. It was widely believed that Judas Iscariot became the first ever vampire on Earth. Oh, I've heard of that. For those that don't know, Judas Iscariot was the 12th disciple that betrayed Jesus Christ. Put put him on the cross

David

for 30 pieces of silver for 30 explains the silver thing. And then throws the silverware and then he was hung by a tree. Yeah. And that made would be the only thing that could go through his heart and pierce it to kill him. Oh my god. It's a very it's a very I've never

Elijah

heard this. I I grew up in the church. I've been in the church my whole life. Well,

David

I mean, they don't talk about vampires a lot. But

Elijah

so here's the thing. The other part it says in many religious paintings and text Judas is described and depicted as a redhead. Never seen that before.

David

I don't I don't recall.

Elijah

I don't I don't remember any depictions of him that had another

David

one that's biblically linked, is Cain or other. The first vampire the the Mark of Cain was supposedly right. And that was an interesting, interesting little theory. And, you know, origin story. And as you know, you can we vampires into so many things. Oh, yeah. You know, like, just the, like, you can make a virus kind of like they did in the strain, right? You can make it like it's a virus, you can make it like it's magical. You know, and you can make up your own backstory

for as much as you want. But there's so much lore from every every civilization, and every culture has its own. You know, blood sucking monster. Yeah.

Elijah

lore, and in America, we just have politicians and I've made myself

Leila

so according to several legends, if someone was bitten by a suspected vampire, they would have to drink the Ashens that Ashens Well, of a burned vampire.

David

Wow. In order to kill themselves, I'm

Elijah

assuming sure themselves. Yeah. I know. It's been a thing I write is depending on like, which interpretation I guess of vampire where it's like Some stories are if you get bitten by a vampire, you're gonna turn into one right, right.

Leila

To prevent an attack, a person should make bread with a vampire blood. Oh,

David

I've never heard that word before and eat it.

Elijah

That was I think in the original Dracula. That was a thing it was. I had to drink your blood. You had to drink mine and then you would become a vampire. Right? Because Dracula's thing was he would serve his guests wine, and that wine would be his blood or have his blood in it. Right.

David

Interesting. And I remember Trueblood had similar type things where human blood would heal vampires and vampire blood would heal.

Elijah

With the Vampire Diaries, it was if you died with vampire blood in your system, you would become would become a vampire. I'm pretty sure that's how we

David

write and yeah, and it's like, The Vampire Diaries that as it went further and further on the the the rules changed every single episode and it got so like you had to have one of those cork boards with the thread on like, what? It was like the most complicated rock paper scissors game that ever existed. Okay. There's a there's a YouTuber. Yep. We sat and watched the entire thing. Nicholson. Yes. Jamie Jenny

Nicholson made a video about the Vampire Diaries. Yeah, if you have not watched it, even if you don't care about the Vampire Diaries. It's worth watching Jamie Nicholson's Vampire Diaries breakdown.

Elijah

She's fantastic. Yeah, it was all her videos. And I did. Because when I started on the show, I had never seen The Vampire Diaries or the originals or the first season of legacies because I started in season two. And so I started watching The Vampire Diaries to try and like plow through and get all of the lore and I was like, I hit a wall around season five, when there were like, three sets of doppelgangers, and they'd all be in the scene together and I just had no idea what was going on. I

was just like, alright, Jenny, tell me what's up. And she does. She does. Yeah, I follow the log and she doesn't hold back. So I appreciate her for that.

David

Yes. is an excellent if you want to get caught up on the Vampire Diaries or just have something on in the background. Listen to Jenny Nicholson is awesome on a lot of things. She also did a video about the Hallmark shopping channel.

Leila

Oh,

David

the horror. Yes, that was one of the greatest fit one of the greatest videos on the internet. There was a there was a group of ladies that worked as on screen talent at the Hallmark shopping channel. And like you can tell very much that there was some tension between and they did not like each other and they did not like each other because they would cut looks at each other. And I'll try to remember to put it in the show notes.

Leila

Right now.

David

I'm falling it's so good. But it's alright tonight. I love how we go down done rabbit holes. But that's how you find videos like that is going down rabbit hole.

Elijah

Extraordinary.

David

Yes, and it's the Hallmark. I think it was I don't know if it was a shopping channel or if it was just a What's your name? Genuine

Leila

Nicholson Nicholson. Okay, got it. But

David

they would tell you like party tricks not party tricks, but like party. Make a candle holder? Yeah, stuff like that crap. Yeah, stuff. But you could tell that the presenter is really really good.

Elijah

I love that. So I don't know what it is about that specifically. That tickles me right. And then the weight exact funny the way

David

Jenny presents it. It's it's good. Jenny on the show.

Leila

Okay, so you know the Twilight book series, right?

David

I'm familiar with series. Yes. Sandra is a big fan. Stephanie Meyers.

Leila

Didn't research vampires before writing it. And she's admitted this. Yeah.

Elijah

Makes sense. And it makes sense. Yeah.

David

If you watch the if you watch the movies, I never read the books. But if you watch the movies, it's very obvious. Never researched any of it. spoke

Leila

to the vampire.

Elijah

That's that cracks me up the most about that. Where it's like, you know, okay, if you start making up powers, like not it's just not a vampire to get right. Yeah, but to not get the the big thing about vampires. They burn in daylight. Yeah, that's why sparkle but it's to make it we stand out a lot. Yeah, we

David

sparkle our skin sparkles. Diamonds.

Leila

Can you meet me for a second? Yeah, things falling off.

David

You want to just like

Elijah

you want me to just hold your mic. No, I got

Leila

it. You're gonna keep talking.

David

But we like dead air while you're doing. dead air is the best for podcasts.

Elijah

Fun fact I've never seen nor read any of the Twilight things? Oh, yeah, my sisters don't know where they went wrong with me. I have three older sisters. And they especially the younger two loved the books and the movies. I was just talking about them with one of them today. And yeah, never. I was too my mom wouldn't let me read the book came out because I was too young and it was a little too spicy, I think. Right? And then I was also of the age where anything my sisters liked I

didn't. Yeah, like so that I had no desire to see the movies and movie theaters are dumb. Although, I talked about this with my sister earlier today, the the idea of like guys that don't understand the appeal of, you know, why does Bella like this? You know, vampire guy and this werewolf guy or whatever. Why? Why does this story take girl so much? And someone said, well, gender flip it? If you were a shy nerdy guy that moved to a new town had no friends, and you're walking in the

parking lot and a truck comes barreling towards you. And the hot goth chick runs up to you stops the car

David

kicks you out of the way with her big golf boots.

Elijah

You would absolutely fall in love. And I like that. I see it now.

David

We're gonna have to bleep this episode a few times. No worries. No worries. We have a blooper. We have to edit Reno's episode also. So we have to put in 26 minutes.

Leila

So, you know. You know, vampires.

David

I know a few actually.

Elijah

I've heard I've heard of them.

Leila

There's this book that I read as a kid named Bunnicula.

David

Oh, Bunnicula. I remember

Leila

but Nicola, it's the little Rabbit. That it's a vegetarian vampire. And I love that book. I remember reading it. Are you reading it to me?

David

I read it to you. Don Lake, Natalie. Yeah.

Leila

It had a cool cover on it.

David

Yeah, as a bunny, a bunny vampire. Yeah, it was a bunny and

Elijah

through the ditches, or the witches, it's

David

not a copyright strike. Hola. Yeah. It's a kids. It's a kids book. It's probably aimed at like, six or seven year olds maybe. So there's a fun fun little book. Row cute. Now we can't get copyright strikes. We get we just get sued.

Elijah

We so yeah, what are the this is totally off topic. But I'd never understood the like, I get if we played a song, right? If you play a song or whatever. And it's like, well, yeah, you're just using, but if you do, like a parody of a song, okay, so

David

there's parody, which is perfect, which is fair use. Yes, that's fair use. If it's parity, and you can you can't like just play a song and then make fun of it. Right? Like, that's not parody. Like you're doing that and then putting a word but Nick Dracula, that's fine. But if you were to just do a cover song, then we would have to, I'd have to go to their some services to be like, Hey, can we use Hey, we did a cover of the song. And we

would basically pay a flat fee. And then, and then we would, we would have to report how many downloads we got for X amount of time. It's a pain. Now, if you're doing it on YouTube, or one of the services that is tied into the services, they report all that for, you know, API's talking to each other. But since we self host, and we do all of our stuff ourselves, you've got something were to happen, where we did play something copyrighted and somebody came after us. If we couldn't argue

fair use, then they could come after us legally. So what would probably happen today would just do a cease and desist. We would cut it out of the episode and rebrand re upload. That would be the end of it. Because we're not making any money off of this

Elijah

joke wasn't good enough. So go ahead and cut that part out.

David

We cut out if somebody swears. Yeah, you've cut me out what four times already now once or twice if there was a section earlier, I cut out. I will but I did. Just because we know we've got some real young listeners. Yeah. And we try and have a good time that adults can enjoy and and their children right. And, and I'm pretty good at just we don't normally edit. But I have said bad words before trying to like drop something or hit my finger or whatever. And sometimes I'll swear, and I'll

just cut it out and nobody ever knows. But is that it's not a big deal. If you if you say a word we mark down the time that it was said and I edited cleverly either Just make it to where it sound like it never happened or I'll put just put a long beep over it

Elijah

to you. Did you ever watch The Late Show with Carmen Ferguson? No,

David

but I'm aware of the unnecessary sensor. Yeah.

Elijah

No, no, that was on I think Kimmel's show I want to say but whenever Colin Ferguson would swear, and he would do it fairly often, it would. He would just dub over his own right voice just go like dude, Steve rootsy.

David

Earlier you said a word and I'm gonna replace it with this right here. Heck.

Elijah

Because, to me what I said hello.

David

And honestly, that word I wouldn't normally edit edit out. But it's funny when you edit something out. There's not that with something that's not that's even

Elijah

more. No, absolutely. Yeah, like we don't we don't want to say darn tune.

David

Right. But I think now that Leila is getting a little older. And we know that we do have the we may start doing episodes on maybe a separate feed where we're not censoring ourselves as much. Not Fun Fact Friday. Fun

Elijah

Fact Friday after hours now.

David

Silly speculation Saturday is probably the probably because we're starting

Leila

to do have someone that might come on. Yes, we

David

may have a guest for silly speculation Saturday coming up. So stay tuned to that. We may have it on a separate feed. If we do have it a separate feed. Obviously we will link to it on this feed. So let's see. Lugosi, Bela Lugosi.

Leila

Yeah, Dracula. Played Dracula in the movie Dracula. He was buried in his full Dracula costume. No kidding, including the cape.

David

So if somebody like that if they're, if they're moving that cemetery and they have to like, pull it over, like, oh.

Elijah

I don't want to be buried in waves fairy wings. putting that out there now.

Leila

I hope you like agreed to it.

David

Oh, well, that was that was his biggest thing. No. So like, because that's right when you say Bela Lugosi. So I'm sure Elijah Wood will be buried in a wig.

Leila

He doesn't. He doesn't wear wigs. So never wear wig.

David

Maybe we'll put a link to that in the show notes. The interview between Elijah Wood and his classmates from Lord of the Rings

Leila

can't remember if it's 100%. Age appropriate, right?

Elijah

It sensors itself because it was on the DVD right? For the movie. So

David

here's, here's a fun fact. And a tip. If you can get a hold of the DVD copies of the extended edition of Lord of the Rings, every single one of the extras on those DVDs is amazing. There's three or four full length documentaries. There's one about the horses. There's one about Ella's is good content. If you're a fan of Lord of the Rings, which was not let's let's be honest.

Leila

Yeah. It's been a while since I watched it last. And I was like a really a kid when I was

David

growing up a little bit. I think you'll enjoy it more now. To watch it last

Elijah

year, I think I watched the extended trilogy. That's what we have about four times like wow, like, yeah, really just every

David

two to three years, we take a Sunday, and we get a bunch of food that doesn't need to be cooked right? Pop Tarts and pizza rolls because you can still use a microwave, whatever. You know, and we'll just have a Lord of the Rings day. We get up in the morning, we have something for breakfast and hit play on the first one. And then just go all day. It's a 14 and a half hour journey, you know. So worth it. Yeah. When my wife went with me to see the first one. She did not know that it

was a trilogy. So at the end of the first one, which is really just a third of the way through the story, there's not really an ending though. She didn't understand when the credit started rolling.

Leila

I got the hiccups.

Elijah

My dad was the same way where he he actively doesn't like the first one I think. Because he's like, they didn't get to the mountain. Like that was the whole thing is get to them. I'm like, Yeah, this was the star. It's 114

David

our movies. Yeah, is that it's not three separate movies. It's one movie.

Leila

So I just chugged some sparkling water from my hiccups. I don't know if that'll work or make it worse here.

Elijah

So I saw if they stick around, let me know because I saw a trick recently that I want to try once

David

a works on me is taking a drink really big, really big drink of water. And as I'm swallowing it, I don't breathe in or out after that. I just hold my breath for as long as I can after I drink the water and normally,

Leila

I've noticed focusing on something really hard makes them go away.

Elijah

So what the one I saw was a student and I guess a high school class had the hiccups. And the teacher was like, come up here. Oh, I'll get rid of your hiccups. And she stood in front of the class and he was like, alright, hiccup do it. Yeah. And she was standing there and he was like, trying Hiccup and he was.

Leila

I was in like fifth grade. And one of my teachers were, he's one of my favorite teachers that have ever had, but he brought me up to the front of the class. And he made me like, hold my breath for a solid 30 seconds. Well, the whole class count.

David

It's the Yeah, it's the the anxiety of that whole situation.

Leila

I think we were in like a free period. At the time, though. We didn't have much to do except for count to 30

David

schools different than when I was a kid, they were just Oh, that was my old school. They would just be with a paddle. Every time you wake up, that's a battle and

Elijah

that's for us. There's a little different vampires from different cultures. Yeah, or vampire.

David

Vampire. Like.

Elijah

I'll just read what I copied verbatim. Malaysian lore has many different types of vampires. One of them is called the pet licit. P e l e s it and it takes the form of a cricket or a grasshopper. Wow. And it can inhabit someone's body. It will like go inside their mouth like tail first and inhabit and drink their blood I think is the thing. My favorite fact why I picked this one. You'll know someone is possessed by Palisade

if they can't stop talking about cats. In the Malay lore, I looked at I saw this where it's they are they are defined by becoming oh my gosh, I love that. They just they just won't stop talking about them. Which raises a lot of questions about like, users. And their obsession with cats. Like everyone knows like the crazy cat lady on the street is like

David

I don't like cats.

Leila

Oh my gosh. Yes, you do. Yes, you do. You just

David

okay. So all that reminds me of is like the whole the cold cricket, killing you and drinking your blood or whatever. All that reminds me of is the deadly snail meme. Are you familiar with?

Elijah

Like a billion dollars?

Leila

So does a snail Yeah.

David

This scenario involves a person receiving $10 million and being followed by a snail for the rest of their life. If the snail touches them, they will die.

Leila

I wouldn't be able to do it.

David

So

Elijah

the snail always, always knows where you are. And it's always like, yeah,

David

it's always coming for you. So basically, what would you do? And it's like, well, I would, I would just I would just go somewhere that snails can't.

Elijah

It's invulnerable. You

David

got you can't kill it. You can't go 100% Off. Now

Elijah

it's an immortal. So like, you can't like lay salt around you and it won't cross over.

David

So here's my plan. The snail is slow. Right? Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Now I've got $10 million. Yeah, on you. In this scenario, okay. So I'm going to buy a couple of pounds of gold. And I'm going to melt the gold until it's molten. Right, then as the snail ways to calm down. As the snail gets really close to the offer, as the snail gets really close to me, I'm going to pour the molten gold on it. Yeah, the gold will cool down. Thereby encasing the snail in gold. I have a question won't be

able to. Okay.

Leila

As I always do with hypotheticals, right? Where is this nail

David

coming for you? From where? Let's say it starts 10 feet from you.

Elijah

Yeah, right now you have $10 million. The snail is just in your backyard.

David

Yeah. So what do you do?

Leila

I wouldn't take the money. I just wouldn't I wouldn't participate. I've always thought it certainly the South Pole. No,

David

no, no, no, it's, but I'm saying you can get away from it. Yeah.

Elijah

But it will it will keep coming and you don't know. You don't know.

Leila

Because I'm too paranoid. One

David

of the problems with it, is that the snail can hitch a ride on vehicle. So like you can't count on me Exactly. Like yeah, okay, it can move one foot and enjoy math. And then you're like, Okay, well, if I go 20 miles, I'm good for a couple of days, right? Not necessarily because what if you guys know can talk to birds

Leila

with a snail On the North Pole, on a treadmill facing towards you, it'll obviously like go towards you. But it won't turn around because it can't

David

smell smarter.

Elijah

Another aspect of the Hi, Rachel that we forgot about is you are immortal to like that you are a more I think, oh, like, Are you both? Like that's that's part of the trade off.

David

Maybe it's like the the train problem. It's like there's multiple versions of it. That's it. I'm

Elijah

a trolley equation.

David

Yeah, the trolley equation. That's a trolley. Paradox. But equation trolley problem. Probably problem. Yeah. It might

Leila

just be the problem.

David

But there's a million variants of that one. I would hate being why wouldn't want to be a more?

Leila

If I was done with being immortal, there's a magic snail. Yeah.

David

So you got your whole life? Yeah, so

Elijah

the original hypothetical was given 10s of millions of dollars and made immortal in exchange for being hunted down by a snail with a fatal touch. Yeah. And what's funny is I remember this question when I was young. Young middle school, maybe? Maybe before middle school says

David

2014 on site I was looking at but who knows? Yeah,

Elijah

so it might have been that might have been

David

might have been before that. But at any

Elijah

rate, it's just after I graduated high school, okay, but it it popped up back online like last year,

David

right. And you know, some what happens is something I'll go for a little while, nobody, but then somebody remembers it? Oh, I remember that. And they post it. They get

Elijah

gets a whole new audience. Yeah, my favorite thing to come out of this was someone shared on Reddit with no context of the snail meme, sometime after it had died down in popularity, like a fake news article. Because one of the most upvoted things on the original Reddit post of you know, posing this hypothetical was someone Excuse me. Less you, thank you. Someone said, I would hire scientists and get a like solid ball of cobalt made and in case the snail in cobalt and shoot it

into outer space. Knowing that that will give me at least you know 100 years until right could possibly get back on it. If

Leila

it just hits you in the head one day and you can't go

Elijah

to Walmart so someone posted on Reddit where it was like, you know, breaking news cobalt sphere falls in the middle of completely hollow except for one sale smells are vampires, right?

Leila

Yeah. They got teeth. They don't have teeth, but they do have teeth.

Elijah

Do they have red hair?

Leila

Yeah, they can.

David

Do they sparkle in the sun?

Leila

Yes, they do. This laziness

David

so I think we're about to hit 45 minutes here. I think we'll go ahead and wrap this one up. Definitely if you ever want to come back on we can talk about whatever and once we get silly speculation Saturday up and running we can you know talk about more or less family friendly things. We get that role in our separate feed. And yeah, yeah, it was great having you on this was a blast. How can how can folks find you?

Elijah

They come to my house I live at two to four getting down you can find me on Instagram ledger dot v dot more on Tik Tok I think also the same name I sometimes post funny things there.

David

I've never been on Tik Tok

Elijah

or I'm on ticked over way too much it's

David

that's why I never started Yeah, that and the whole China thing but

Elijah

so yeah, Instagram and then on any movie or TV show that I might be in

David
