Welcome to Fun Fact Friday wasn't
ready, but we're gonna. We'll read here. It was like, are you ready? Okay.
A little early this week. Yeah, we're doing Thanksgiving episode releasing on Thursday. So if you, you check your feet and you finished eatin and you're dozing off you can doze off to our soothing voices. Yep.
So it is the middle of the day, which means we're either going to be more chaotic or less chaotic than we usually are.
We got the turkey in the oven, Leila Oh my god. Why don't you talk about setting up your turkey Friday's weekly podcast where discuss topics to topic each week back we try and try and do a good new segment and I'm
he's David Leslie over there. Yeah.
So what why don't you tell us why don't you tell us what this morning's been like for us this
morning. I got up late by accident. I was gonna get up at like seven because they wanted to be up to like eight to make Cineworld but I got up at like 750 And I was like, Ah, dang it. So I got up, made some rolls and turn on the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and then they got up ate the cinnamon rolls. We had to do the turkey. So we got out Turkey dried it all off. Well he got out of Turkey and then he like pulled out the bag and
stuff from inside of it. It was apparently freezing cold if I heard Yes,
the mannequin that was inside and then like, the bag of like, all the other stuff. gizzards Yeah,
that were
I pulled that and it was like because the you know you saw the turkey but you don't want it to get too. too warm. So anyway, anyway, it was super cold no huddle a region there is so
so good. Mom was like she handed me a bowl of salt and pepper. And I was like, what's this gonna do? It's just salt and pepper. She was like, you're gonna put this in the turkey and I'm like, in the turkey. And she's like, Yeah, and that cavity just want to like rub it all around. And I'm like there's bones in their bones and I don't want what? So I took it I rubbed
it the turkey I gagged a couple times. But then stuffed a folder like apples, onions, and lemons, I think and then sage, rosemary and thyme.
Fresh, fresh fresh seasonings to to enter the inside inside of there.
I was Madre mom made some sage rosemary, thyme, butter. And I had to rub that garlic and garlic so much. A full bulb of garlic. Yes. And I had to rub it all underneath the skin and around it and oh my gosh, if you could have seen how much butter was on Turkey. It was just like literally a butter block. Yeah,
it was done with it. It was maybe maybe it was just so much butter because we got we had to get a huge Turkey we got a whole lot of people coming over today. Oh yeah. So you know oh yeah. Good having butter for them. And my monitor keeps turning off for some reason. will maybe have you I'll tell you hey monitor. Stop turning off. I think one of my settings is off. If you're hearing a little bit of a buzz in the background sorry about that. We got a space heater on out in the
studio. cold out here it is.
It feels cold chilly usually.
But yeah, so we got the turkey all good to go. And we're you know, straightening up the house. We got a whole lot of people going over so the missus is inside, getting getting things finished up. She's probably playing Stardew Valley and this because
we told her to not stress out because she was stressing out and she's like, I'm not stressing out.
It's not stressing out. Now she's She just wants everything to be nice for everybody. Yeah, but yeah, yeah, Thanksgiving. We were big fans. We're big fans. And we know we were we were thinking about doing like the history of thanksgiving. Everybody knows that. We're just gonna give some fun little tidbits of of fact, information and facts information. Yeah, just some some fun little facts. Maybe if
you if you get this before you have dinner, maybe you can. You can, you know, have some fun facts to share around the dinner table. Yeah. So before we just started I do have a good news story from NPR. Hope. And now, Thanksgiving edition of
fun we didn't say
now, good news, Thanksgiving edition.
The end Gotcha. Okay. We're professional. podcasters
go fast.
Oh, Wally. Isn't an emotional support. Alligator.
Oh my god. I'm a Miraculous Ladybug, jagged Stone and his crocodile Fang.
Oh, I didn't know. I know some of the lady that the movie was actually decent, decent movie. It's still cool. So Wally. Yes, it's called I'm aware. The went to a Phillies game, which is uh, yeah. He went to the ballpark. Baseball. Yeah. And was asked to leave. Oops, yeah. But he wasn't there to watch the game. He was there to meet the players and he was invited. Oh my god because apparently he is a a tick tock star. We don't we don't do tick tock so we'll see a tick tock
here and there. If they're posted elsewhere, they end up on X or YouTube or something but has 115,000 followers on Tik Tok and 27,000 followers on Instagram. So basically, there's this woodworker dude. His name works in the store. Any, any, any? Nope, nope. This is one of his fans. Hold on, hold on. Keep talking about this story is overly long. I think it's very long. It's a very, very long story and the good part npr.org
Yeah, I think they get paid by the word there. So. Okay, so yeah, it is Henny and he is his owner and he is a woodworker. And he, he had some some tragic events happen his life, not not had some family members pass away. Yeah, he had some cancer and had to have some treatments. And Wally was his best friend, because he rehabilitates lizards. And, you know, other amphibians and stuff like that, and nurses and back to health and stuff like that. But Wally, the alligator was particularly
friendly to him. Like he's the only alligator ever that doesn't like try and bite you where this take place? This is wow, it mainly talks about I don't know. It mainly talks about the Phillies game so I don't know. Might be between Yeah, yeah. It says he lives up there near Philly. He's like two hours away from the ballpark. So he's up north. Cool. So yeah, I just thought was cool. And Wally was actually the reference alligator was used for visual reference on the low key series for alligator
alligator Loki. Because there's a version of Loki on the show. That's an alligator.
He's obsessed with the show right now.
It was just a finished up the second season. And it's probably the best thing that Marvel's done in my opinion story wise. It the character arcs are good and Paul review or anything but it was pretty good. But anyway, yeah, Wally, Wally, these emotional support alligator. And he's he's making the rounds. He's doing his thing, but he seems he seems like a very sweet alligator. Yeah, like in this article on NPR. There's like a picture of of the guy any, like holding
him. And he's just like, it was like a like a puppy in his arm. But good stuff. Good stuff. I thought that was a good uplifting story.
So my news, I think we do this one every year. Oh, yeah. But
there's a little twist here. Is there? I'll tell you. Okay.
So there's this old grandma. I don't know how old she is. But yes, super, super. Oh, she doesn't look super old. But she, her name is Wanda. And she texts this dude, saying, hey, Thanksgiving dinner at my house. And then he was confused because he didn't know anyone named Wanda. And he wanted to know who this person was. So it was like, Who are you? You're not my grandma. And then she was like, we still want to come over.
I mean, we got food. Yeah, we
got food. And so they've had Thanksgiving together since 2016. It's eight years. So Good grief.
That's awesome. My wife likes the the Hallmark style. Not necessarily Hallmark brand. But that style, you know, real cheesy, very romantic, lots full of lots of writing tropes. Well, there's a new one this year called Twas the text before Christmas. And apparently they use this story, this real life story as kind of a jumping off point for the story. This woman ends up texting the wrong grandma, she ends up getting invited to their place in Vermont, you know, and then goes
and meets the sun. And the sun is like, Mr. Handsome guy, you know how those those shows are? Yeah. And but they use that as like a jumping off point for the movie. And like every year, she goes back and blah, blah, blah. But I don't really know that much about the plot. I just know that it was kind of based on loosely based on this story that mom would like it. And yeah, my wife would like it. So all right, so I think they'll wrap
up. Fun Fact Friday news. Thanks, guys. addition and why don't we go ahead and get into a couple of just just fun little fast facts about about Thanksgiving
apparently female turkeys don't gobble. What?
Yeah. Are you telling me that there's a species? Where the where's the women? The female doesn't talk your ear off are you? Are you giving me a look right now? It's funny because there's like a there's a woman stereotype. The stereotype that women are just like oh my gosh, I talked more than you do on this show, especially. So they do they do they make noise or does it say?
Oh yeah, let's do like a, like a purring or a cackling weird.
I wonder if you can find that find. Maybe things that you find. Why don't you do that and I'll talk about pumpkin pie pumpkin pie.
I'm not a fan. I like
I like like a bite of pumpkin pie and has to be thin. Like, you can't have too much of the topping. I'm probably gonna get we're probably gonna be like, you don't have any tastes. But it's just on the thing. It's not my thing. The dessert. Pumpkin pie has been an important part of Thanksgiving meals since the 1700s which before Thanksgiving was officially a thing. There's a whole history. Check it out.
I'll actually put a link in the show notes. Rush Limbaugh is one of the big ones that goes around of the story of thanksgiving. I'll post a link
alright, I found it.
Let's see. Okay, see if we can get my volume up okay, it's kind of quiet. Oh, it's fine. All right.
Crank it up. We're like yeah
like chirping Yeah.
Hey, yeah. So that's the female not doing gobble gobble. That's what male turkeys is a perfect rendition of what a male turkeys sounds like. Gobble, gobble,
gobble, gobble, gobble. Gobble now.
Wonder if the Hamburglar got the his robble robble thing from playing turkey.
Turkeys. Turkey. Burger turkey burger turkey. What?
You just started Oh, wow. So Thanksgiving was originally celebrated in mid October. Oh, wait. I didn't finish talking about pie. Talk about pie. wins. Canadian pies are America's favorite with pumpkin pie coming in second on Thanksgiving, Canada. Thanksgiving, something big down here. And in the South. Is we like we like to have what they call they call them pecan pies. It's not P cans. It's pecans. But they call them pecan southern say PKS and pecan pie. We're gonna get some pecan pie.
We're gonna put some whipped cream on it. None of that fancy stuff. We're going to use the CANS Thanksgiving
in Canada is held in October. Yep. Yeah, yep. So doing alright. Yep. And yeah. Yeah, I remember hearing.
I had a different page. This there's my page. I like this one. Okay, what the average number What do you think the average number of calories each person consumes on Thanksgiving? average, average. So like in the middle? Yeah. Because there's because there's me that I'm going to consume about 76 billion calories today. Oh,
you know, uranium has about 70 per gram. I was gonna say I'm probably about
250 250 Calorie No.
That's like a Snickers. Let's go with 3000 Yeah, no, 3000 is a date is your you know, so it's 3100 to 4500. Okay, for reference, there's too many daily recommended calories are between 18 to 2000 1800 to 2000. Okay, so it takes about nine and a half hours to burn 4500 calories.
Yeah, but that's without your body. Without
your body. No your body burns a lot of calories average amount of time it takes the average male to burn 4500 calories. Oh, so without seeing I don't know if that's I don't know if that's exercising, know that what does that even that has to be with exercising heavy exercise because you burn about? I don't know, I'm not gonna dig deep into this. I don't know if parade.com has done a whole lot of research, but that's a lot of calories to burn in nine and a half hours.
calories to consume in a day. Yeah, I don't think that's the average calories
now. Yeah, this is something's wrong with this. You know what? We're going to take this entire segment out in the in the post process, aren't we?
No. We're too lazy for that. It's too much
work. It's too much work. Yeah, when we hit export, unless something's unless we have a slip up in name or something. Yeah, personal identifiable.
Information where we get like a call, like an important call we have that happened before.
Very rare. Yeah. So have you heard about the tradition of pardoning a turkey?
Didn't the White House do that or whatever? Yes.
So what happens every year? Ever since 1989? When George HW Bush, that's the dad. The first president or not the first. Out of the two, President Bush's is the first one. He officially pardoned a turkey. You know, a pardoning is what a president does a pardon. Okay, so like, presidents and governors have this legal authority to pardon a prisoner, especially one that's like on death row. They can call and say now now that you know their pardon, let them go.
Okay, so it's just letting a turkey live its life. Yes.
So what happens is they they pick the turkey to pardon? They take it to the White House. And the President's like, yeah, your part and you're good to go. And then the turkey goes off to some farm and lives off the rest of his life.
You don't have to have clearance. A whole America.
So a whole traditional thing. It's cute. is probably good. I
wonder turkey.
Okay, you know what? I want to know what how much money does pardoning this turkey cost? Probably a lot.
That's where our taxes are going.
That's okay, I'm gonna give you look up some you read some stuff. I gotta, I gotta look this up.
Okay. Well, I didn't have one of the hopper because I'm a bad podcaster Jingle Bells was originally a Thanksgiving Day song. Before becoming Christmas holiday anthem Jingle Bells was an 1857 song titled One horse open sleigh 1857 that's like really long ago.
That's at least five years ago. Yeah. At least.
It became so popular around December 25. That it's 1859 title was changed to Jingle Bells. Well, that doesn't really tell me much.
Well, if you listen to the words of the song, it doesn't necessarily it doesn't actually say anything about Christmas. When it was open say hey, yeah, yeah, you go about Christmas.
Who has a sleigh? Santa?
Lots of people have slaves. This
is her. He was like
turkey slaves and Biden pardons. Oh my gosh. I want to know how much it costs a pardon is Turkey because they have to get they have to get it to the White House how much money they have to plan this whole event. They probably have to have extra security because the prison is going to be out. How much does this cost? The cost? get
a straight answer. How much is pardoning Turkey costs it's gonna be somewhere. I can't find it. It's got to be somewhere. Looks
like we're gonna have to do a Freedom of Information Act request. What? Oh, no, that's not hard. You just put a lot of work. Yeah, it probably costs 20 bucks because they have to get the pay him to do a Freedom of Information Act request. Which is not that big of a deal because you are making them do extra work that's taking them away from their other work. I was I don't know if I knew you're the one. I don't know. I'm not gonna get into that. Okay, that's not the right page.
Sorry. Anyway, Thomas Jefferson. Oh, wait, did we talk about Lincoln yet? No, we didn't Abraham Yeah. Oh, eight all honest. A Be Honest Abe was the one that set the date for Thanksgiving into into November to coincide with the Pilgrims landing on Plymouth Rock that we talked about.
recently. It's
just a little bolder. It's just a little
guy. So but not always know he's been October Yeah. But did they know that the Pilgrims landed here?
I'm pretty sure we know. Yeah,
but did they know when they made Thanksgiving?
Okay, so thanks. Okay.
What? Okay, hold on.
Do you know the story of thanksgiving? No.
What did they teach you in school about it? Not much. They never taught us about Thanksgiving. Okay, so
the the first Thanksgiving was celebrated in 1621 as a harvest festival. It included around 50 pilgrims, who were the 50 that were leftover that survived the first winter. And about 91 One gram per node Indians.
So we learned about this a tiny bit, right. And we had like a sentence about it in a book.
Yeah. So it was like it was a three day festival. And they had, they said, There's only five women were present. That's like, okay, but I mean. So the the Wampanoag women were present. Yeah, the Wampanoag brought five venison or five dead deer. And they ate the venison. And then they also had corn, which Squanto had taught the Europeans how to
grow new English. He's the only one that knew English.
Which there's a whole story behind how he learned English. The whole deal. He was a Yeah, interesting, interesting character in history. And but yeah, so they had a really good harvest that year. And they were like, Hey, let's have a party. And so they did a three day party. So relations were not great before or after. But it was, it was it was a whole thing. But they did. They just had a big three day party. And by all accounts, everybody just had a good time. They all shared
stories and taught each other stuff. And it was just a big, a big good time for the three days. Now, you know, but like I said, before and after. But we're not going to go into all that. Yeah. So football on Thanksgiving is a big tradition. And it has been since the 1800s. But the first football game, played on Thanksgiving was an 1876. It was a game between Yale and Princeton colleges. So football on Thanksgiving started with the colleges now it's a big NFL thing. Yeah, yeah. So we, we
like, what, where is you? Yale is in America. Where? Yep. Well, in Boston,
there's Boston Tea Party.
Can you not hear Boston without saying Boston? I see. Do you think Boston Tea but I think Boston baked beans even though don't like baked beans. University?
In Boston,
Connecticut. Okay, what's in Boston?
Even Connecticut?
There's a College in Boston. Boston is college Ivy League ones, right?
Is it Boston College? No. What?
I really call
it all college is in Ba you look that up
and I'm gonna talk about Benjamin Franklin. Bad guy pops up into so many conversations in our house. When he wanted the turkey,
yeah, it's just Boston College.
Because we're Harvard, his Harvard and Boston.
I don't think hers I think Harvard is in Massachusetts or in Connecticut. Where
do you think Boston is?
Boston, Harvard. Cambridge,
it's in Cambridge, Cambridge. What? Okay. That's not what we're here to talk about. Okay, so, Benjamin Franklin wanted the turkey to be the the official bird of America instead of the bald eagle. Yeah, he says, quote, for my own pot. I wish the bald eagle had not been chosen. The sorry. Benjamin Franklin talks weird. For my own part. I wish the bald eagle had not been chosen the representative of our country. For the truth, the turkey is in comparison, a much more
respectable bird. As Benjamin Franklin's already sounded like, I have recordings
leading this
I'm on how House House beautiful.com/lifestyle/a 2292044 slash Thanksgiving desks on best facts slash slash. Okay, it will be in the show notes so you can just click it. Franklin didn't get his wish. But the letter did inspire a song in the Tony winning musical 1776 about the drafting of the Declaration of Independence. So there you go. There's another Have you heard That song is that a that's a song was that?
I just made that up. Oh, there's
a song that no, I'm 1776 It's a stage play about the drafting of the declaration. No, you're into stage plays right now. So a little check it out. 76 So our tradition is to get up to the cinnamon buns. Watch the Macy's Parade while we're eating the cinnamon buns and then get up and start working on food. Right. But while we're working on food, The Kennel Club is doing the thing on the TV. We really enjoy the the dog show.
Oh, yeah. Dog Show after the thing. So speaking of Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, it was originally called Macy's Christmas parade to kick off the holiday shopping season it was held 1924 The first parade included monkeys bears, camels, elephants that were borrowed from the Central Park Zoo. Cool. Today, I saw two floats. Get Ripped by a tree. The Wimpy Kid float. And what's the what's the guy from today? Yeah.
And then what was the water in the brain? Yes.
The wimpy kids handles all deflated. And then what's the guy from one piece? Movie? Yeah, his hat in a tree and get deflated?
The round seven of my friend.
She's obsessed with one piece. Snoopy has made the most appearances in the parade. New out. Now.
I'm gonna say Snoop Dogg.
But so the the lady who wrote Mary Had a Little Lamb is known as the mother of thanksgiving. Why? She wrote a letter to President Abraham Lincoln, would
you say? I'm glad you asked.
Oh, I'm glad you asked. The name seemed fitting after she wrote a letter to President Abraham Lincoln, the Secretary of State William Seward in 1863, calling for the declaration of Thanksgiving as national holiday. Her hope was that the holiday would help heal the nation from the trauma of the Civil War. So people have been celebrating Thanksgiving since the 1600s. They've been celebrating the harvest and, and being together and being thankful for things. And but it
wasn't an official American holiday until old honest. He turned it into one because the lady who wrote Mary Had a Little Lamb. Okay,
wait a minute. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Wait, wait, wait a minute. Okay. This website says the average cost of a Thanksgiving dinner is $53.31 for 10 guests. Yeah. No, no, it's not. That's like the cost of a turkey. That's like the costume article written? Like today. Look 16 hours ago?
No,
no. What's the what?
No, because I put that I put that in our OneNote more than 16 hours ago. Okay, so have you got one of those autos? Yeah, they've got one of those auto refreshes, that makes the articles look fresh. Is what they've got. Because I've seen stuff that was written. Long time ago. Say it was written today. Yeah, yeah, they've got a little bot that cheats the date on things.
Okay, so. Okay, so
now if you think about well, no, if you think about it, think about it. So what do you have for Thanksgiving? turkey stuffing Turkey cranberry sauce. Okay, turkeys? 30 cents a pound. Right? So 10 people you are a 10 pound bird. So you're looking at three bucks for the turkey? What? They're 30 cents a pound. Nine times 10 pounds is $3
That's too little for a turkey attend. It's like too late.
It's a pound a person is what James?
Yeah, no, but so $3 you can get steak for more than that. Well, yes, I mean burger stuff.
I know Turkey. at Thanksgiving. Yeah, the turkeys go on sale because what they do is like down the street food line. Food Lion entices you to come in with the 30 cent a pound turkey. And you're like heck yeah, I can get a big old turkey for five bucks right? Yeah. And then while you're there, well shoot I'm already here. I might as well go ahead and get my rolls get my sweet potatoes get my you know my pie and and they don't mark that stuff down as much. Plus there's competition.
Different grocery stores want your money. So they mark off the most expensive thing because our turkey if it had not been on sale would have been $57 Yeah, but it was like 26 We got the the name brand one instead of the 37 because we had too many people. So I'm done with this fact. You're done with a veteran. I think that is a reasonable amount. We went a
little overboard this year with getting all the stuff we got. So plus we got stuff For the week two, so we can't we didn't like break out what we spent on just Thanksgiving so,
and my gosh, this fact scared me when I first read it. Each year, Americans collectively consumed 3 billion calories from Turkey alone. So I thought it said each American. And I was like, No. Good grief, that's too many calories, 3 billion. But it's collectively, I didn't see that collectively, my brain just skipped right over it. This is a lot of copies too. I wonder if they just like used AI.
That's possible. A lot of these sites are doing that now having an AI write their article and then they throw ads on it. So butterball, the turkey people have run a turkey talk line for 40 years. You know, a turkey talk line is no yet called the butterball Turkey line, Turkey talk line and say, oh my gosh, I got 14 people coming over what do I do with this turkey? And they say, Okay, here's what you want to do. You want to and they
give you the instructions on how to cook the turkey. Right? Well, then you got an hour left and something's gone wrong with the turkey. You call the turkey talk line. Say I got an hour left and this has gone wrong with my turkey. They're like, Alright, calm down, buddy. Calm down. What you're gonna want to do is get the ham out of the fridge and serve that because your turkey is not fixing it. Yeah, no, it's uh, yeah, it's a turkey helpline.
So pretty cool. So it's like an emergency service. But for Turkey. Yep.
Open US and Canadian homes every November and December, unique hotline opened up in 1981. And take they also take questions online via email and chat. There is and they also have multi language multilingual people. And they eggs each year they answer about 100,000 Questions about Turkeys about cook a turkey. So
the average amount of time it takes for a host to prepare a feast is 9.6 hours.
I don't know. Okay, that there's a whole lot of downtime in there, too. Yeah. Because because we're cooking a turkey right now. It's like, you know, if you count the time, it that it's brining and then the time that it's in the oven. Yeah, that's like, right. Well, yeah, thongs, whatever. But yeah, brining and cooking is nine hours. So at least, but you you're not doing anything while it's while it's cooking. So I mean, what are we what are we having this year? None of that
stuff. It doesn't take nine hours. So anywho, anywho, anywho. There's downtime. It's like when you're doing laundry. Like a lot of the time that it takes to do laundry is waiting for the laundry to get done. I used to sit at a laundromat and play tic tac toe. And then that little game where you have the dots and you draw the squares one line at a time. I used to play with this little kid who had I guess his mom was on the
same schedule as me for laundry. And he was almost always in there when I was in there, and we would just sit there and play play those games is fun. So
according to most Americans, the best part of Thanksgiving is actually the leftovers. Oh, yeah. Apparently, according to most Americans. Hmm.
I do love a good leftover turkey sandwich.
Just pretty good.
Yeah. Put some hot sauce on it. Yeah. Now I'm excited about that.
So dad, yes. Do you want to do a tear list?
A tear list? Okay, so I don't understand tear lists. I don't understand the is it? Because there's like Grade A Grade B, Grade C? What is it?
Yeah, S A, B, C, D, and F. Okay, so
we're gonna do a tear list. We're going to try and get this done. Excuse me. And we're going to do a tear list. I've never done these before, but I have watched them on YouTube. of Thanksgiving, turkeys. Turkeys, food, Thanksgiving food.
Let me see if I went onto your list. maker.com Okay. Thanksgiving
food dot Thanksgiving foods. Your list.com Oh,
that's a lot of fun. Okay. So tear maker.com I found it. Alright,
so we're going to do a new segment to your lists. Let's do it. So
the tears I'm leaving. It's not there. Okay. I love it. Okay, it's okay. All right. I'm good. Or I won't even look at it. Gotcha. Apple pie. I'm not a fan. I'm good. Yeah, I'm not. I'll eat it. But I won't. You know, I'll be like, Okay, thank you. Big squash.
Won't won't even look at Yeah, not a fan of squash.
I love squash. Put it in. I'm good. Okay. Big sweet potatoes. Man. Biscuits. Oh, I
love this. I love biscuits, but I'm not leaving
if they're not there. I love it. Okay, brown gravy. Emily. Even if it's not absolutely brussel sprouts, love it. Love it. Collard Greens boy you
know your mom. Your mom would put that in the love it.
Yeah. Cool Whip
is it can cool whip or Cool Whip cool. Whip joke. See, I like this type of spray. Yeah, you know what? It's okay. Let's put it. Let's put it on it's okay. I can take it or leave it. I could take it or leave it. corn casserole corn cat wherever corn casserole today we are. Yeah, well put put it put it in love it. Oh, okay. I love corn casserole, especially when our tastes good corn bread. Oh yeah. I love corn, Brussels you put jalapenos in it or in bread. You haven't had my corn bread.
That's true. Make corn bread. Well put it in in love it.
So one of the things you can do with corn bread is you can put a layer of the mix down and then you put a layer of sausage like spicy sausage, and then another layer the cornbread and then put jalapenos on top. Just all over the top of it. Oh my goodness. That's Oh, cheese. You have a cheese in there too. Yeah, anyway, it's a really good like cornbread. sausage casserole is good stuff. So
corn. And this is this is tough, because it depends on what you season it with. Yeah.
Well, I mean, let's just assume that. It's our version of that item.
Okay, so we'll put love it. Yeah, let's put. We love
cranberry sauce.
I can take it. No, I don't. So I'm good. I'm good. I'm good. No worries. I'm
good. creamed creamed spinach, but
we hate it. That's good for you. But it's got low iron crescent rolls. Oh, well, any bread? You just automatically love it or above.
Dinner Rolls?
Yeah, I'm leaving up dinner rolls if there's no. Yeah. Glazed
carrots. It's okay. It's okay. It's okay. Grape salad. Grape salad. Who was raped SAP? Never
even heard of grape salad? Either fruit salad I've heard of. Yeah,
maybe this is just fruit salad. So we'll put fruit salad and love it because I love fruit
I love for salty but I've just never heard called grape salad salad. Yeah.
All right. What else we got green bean casserole.
My like green bean casserole when you're nine makes it that's what she's with. Yeah, but the crispy is on top of it and love it. So she uses on her green bean casserole she uses like, it's basically just green beans and a cheese sauce. covered and Ritz crackers crumbled all up. It's so good. It's just so basic and so good. Absolutely.
Green beans.
Green beans are okay. Like by themselves. I'm not a just I just don't like eating just a green bean. I'll put them in it's okay. Now if you saw Tam with garlic and onions is absolutely
green jello salad.
Know what? Get it out? Don't even look at just get green jello. Sam have a ham. I'm leaving if it's not there.
Absolutely. Red Yellow salad. Millet, mac and cheese.
I like just jelly. It's not there. I'm
putting mac and cheese and leaving it there. I love mac and cheese. Mashed potatoes but
we're not having mac and cheese. Are you going to leave? Yep. I can make cheese make mac and cheese later? Yeah, my cheese later it might do for lunch. Leila is a mac and cheese fiend. Anyway,
mashed potatoes. Mashed potatoes
are a staple.
I love them. Yes, pecan pie. I'm good. I'm good.
Do you like I don't really like pecan pie that much. Even though I love pecans. Especially candied ones with like sugar and cinnamon.
Yeah, pumpkin pie.
Pumpkin pie.
I've never had it.
I think I'm good. I'm good. It's okay, but I'm grabbing another dessert before it grabbed pumpkin pie. Yeah.
Red potatoes.
Red potatoes. I love love butter. Garlic, little bit of salt and pepper. roasted
carrots. roasted carrots. Pretty good. It's okay though.
They're okay. Yeah.
I don't like roasted carrots as much as I like the not roasted carrots. Alright, what else? Yeah, roasted potatoes.
I like roasted potatoes. Those are good.
scalloped potatoes. What are those?
Like? very thinly sliced and what's with toppings?
Okay, so what do you have it? i
Yeah, well, yeah, sir. Not like not like shreds, like discs.
Okay,
okay. Yeah, I don't know what you mean is kind of like the ratatouille
like a Cooney Cooney. Go ahead.
Steak.
Never had steak at Thanksgiving but I love it. I love steak. Love steak. Isn't
there stuffing? Leaving?
It's not there stuffing is stuffing is as important as the turkey.
I agree. I agree. I asked my mom if we had stuffing a few minutes ago and she's like, Of course we do. Oh, somebody's bringing bringing you sweet potato casserole so you can have a casserole I like better than just baked sweet potatoes. I'll put it in love it How do you feel about it? The only
way I like sweet potatoes as as fries? Okay, only like sweet potato fries or sweet if they're waffle variety. That's fine as long as they're like thinly sliced and fried. Yeah. Turkey. Yeah. It's got to you got. You got to have turkey. Well, one year we did do maroon was two years ago. Maybe last year we did Chili's giving. Do you remember that? No. We just made like, eight gallons of chili and already came over and had chili. Really? Yeah. I don't remember. Yeah, remember that?
Oh my gosh, I just made
a huge huge vat of chili.
Garlic chilies giving whipped cream in the
can. There it is. There it is. That's the winner. white gravy, white gravy and leave it if it's not there. Absolutely. If I can't just pour a ridiculous amount of both white and brown gravy all over everything. All of my food. What's even the point? What's even the point? It's even the point. So what ended up
leaving it's not there. We have brown gravy. Dinner Rolls, ham, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, stuffing, Turkey and white gravy. In the Lovat category. Don't read
yet. It's really tough for me to see because it's kind of small. Biscuits
brussel sprouts, corn casserole, cornbread, corn, crescent rolls. Fruit salad, green bean casserole, red potatoes, roasted potatoes, steak and whipped cream.
steak on Thanksgiving. I mean, I love steak. I'll eat steak any day any day. Any time. It's just I've never thought of it as a Thanksgiving food. It's so weird that it's on the list.
Maybe they had steak on Thanksgiving when they made this list. Cool Whip. Isn't It's okay. Also think it's okay. Is glazed carrots, green beans, roasted carrots, scalloped potatoes and sweet potato casserole and nothing else matters. Yeah, we have nothing against them. But we're not it's not our pick. Yeah,
no. That'd be if it's if it's if it's their arm, maybe. Yeah, but I'm not I'm not picking it for my menu. You know and and everything else that we mentioned this to Taiwan. Yeah. So yeah, there's our first tear list. A little little better when you're doing visuals. But um, but yeah, that's our that's our ideal Thanksgiving dinner. Now, we didn't go into a lot of desserts that had your standard pies. Yeah, but one of the two. Okay, two of the desserts that we always have is my wife makes
us angel food cake. Oh, my goodness. It is I believe it's the Better Homes and Gardens recipe from the old old old book. And she has been memorized by now. Yeah. And she she makes it and she just puts so much love and care into it. For every one of his birthdays. Yeah, it's my favorite birthday thing. And then also, we're gonna make rice krispie treats. However, My loving wife understands me. And she knows that rice krispie treats are like my thing. And she's like, you know, if you
make the rice krispie treats after the guests leave. You can have them all yourself. And as I love you
our family is gonna listen to this. Maybe and be like he was holding us back from Rice Krispie treats. How dare he is
any of our family members get this far on the episode and listen and hear that I'm holding out on the rice krispie treats. You're more than welcome to come on over and have some rice krispie treats. Oh, wow. So a
YouTube channel, Evan and Caitlin is the name of it. Okay, and they have a series on their channel named Willett rice crispy.
Oh, yeah, you're showing me that last night. And they take a drink of my drink. Yeah, they
do a whole bunch of stuff. They have one where they tried other cereals and the rest was Petri. So they did just the cereal and marshmallows and butter, of course. But they also did stuff like bacon. And I can't remember the other stuff, but I think it's hilarious. I
feel like any dry cereal. Could rice crispy. No. No. Like what eats many wheats didn't really work. It's just hey, I can see many wheats wouldn't really work. That's yeah,
I think their favorite was either the Honey Nut Cheerios or the raisin bran. Or Special K.
Yeah, the the wheat ones.
Yeah, because they're just plain. They don't have any sugar to them. Right. Other than honey nut cheerios.
Oh, yeah, Cheerios. I've seen I've seen Rice Krispie treats of other cereals we we made I think favorite. We made Fruity Pebbles and Cocoa Pebbles and the rice krispie treats before because they're essentially Rice Krispies with flavor flavor. Yeah. So yeah, that works. Well, like I am I'm a purist. I make them by the book. Like the recipe on the box is a recipe I use. However, I use about 25% more butter so like It says you need to use four tablespoons on when it
says, I always look it up, but use four tablespoons. I'll use five, you know, just a little a little more buttery, but a little butter your butter here. And I will eat probably a third while it's still warm. I know. It's it's a problem. I can't control myself around, right. All right. Well, you want to thank some folks. Yeah. Okay, well, our store, store FunFactFriday.com has made some more sales. We are now in a heat. We have five items on the metric system. And 10 items on

from Cameron. Cameron is the IPFS podcasting.net. Guy. Really? So yeah. So the I, I made a little mistake. We were talking about last episode. However, older episodes are not on the feed, but they're on the website. Well, I went through and did a find and replace on the website and linked to the IPFS for our episodes, and I didn't so anyway, basically Cameron went and fixed it for me. Because he's awesome, because, and got us got us hooked up. So all of our
episodes are now on IPFS. So we're not having to host any of our old ones. I don't think a lot of people go back that far. And I looked and I only found most of our old feed, I'm going to have to manually fix about 22 or 30 episodes. But I will get all of all of our old episodes back on the feed. If you're listening to this. I'll actually I'll do it on the next episode
at the beginning. So because I know some folks drop off by this point, yeah, but um I'm gonna make an announcement about that because your podcast player may show 100 episodes 100 New episodes here pretty soon so we'll see. Go ahead and read the next one. Oh, no. Jana Jana

I can't wrap my head around. This one does just get all your teeth replaced so you don't have to deal with them.
I've seen people file down their teeth to where they're like little nubs so they can get veneers on each of their teeth. But
that's that's more common and that's a looks thing. It's kind of like for brace or if they're unhealthy. That either unhealthy. Have you looked at it you've been looking at.
