Ever, buddy. Fun Fact Friday
Fun. Fact Friday
Fun Fact Friday.
Fun. Fact Friday. Fun. Fact Friday. Okay, we do fun facts like every week almost.
Most weeks. We missed some. We do miss on this hobby sometimes
hobbies sometimes we lost.
We did finish last homework. We watched Thursday, we watched all six seasons in about what? Three weeks? Maybe four? Maybe four? Yeah. There's been watching them, you know, two three episodes here or there. Every once in a while we do like a five episode. You know binge watch. But it's it's a good show. But I want to get Lila's review.
Nine out of 10,
nine out of 10
absolutely best show ever.
There will be 10 out of 10 if it was the best. No, just nothing's perfect minus one point. Because it's
so much good.
Okay. So those of you who haven't watched last Leila give us a non spoilery idea of what the show is.
So there's this plane that crashes on this island. Shenanigans. Shannon against Shannon against the boondoggle.
We were looking at the soundtrack. Oh my god. There's a There's a song called buena Royal. And there's a song called Shannon again, because there's a character named Shannon. Shannon again. I thought it was funny.
I thought it was funny too.
So this week, we're not talking about lost the whole show, even though it's fun. We're gonna be talking about mutations.
Ooh, genetic mutations are just mutations.
Yeah. There's not really any other kind of mutation. Sure. Yeah. Other than like, X Men, you know, pizza bagel. Yeah. How's the pizza bagel mutation?
Actually, wait.
I mean, I guess there's a mixture. There's permutations. So the mixture What would you consider a pizza bagel? On pizza bagel? A pizza bagel? Is a bagel.
It's a bagel with pizza on it with pizza toppings. Yeah, pizza toppings. But what is it?
Wait. Okay. Now before we get into this, this scientific discussion about the classification of a pizza bagel, we need to talk about like is at what point does something become a not pizza? Because that's true. It's like you got to have a type of bread. Right? And then a sauce
type of sauce. Yeah. And then cheese. Yeah.
And then some kind of topping or not. So really, the only three things you really need is bread, sauce and cheese. Because I've had pizzas that did not have tomato sauce on them. They had like barbecue. So
a grilled cheese sandwich could be a pizza. If you put ketchup on it. You put it in tomato sauce.
Grilled cheese with ketchup as pizza.
Absolutely. Okay. Since it's got guests, it's
got its bread on top and bottom. It would be a cannoli. cannoli cannoli.
I don't know what you're talking about. Isn't a cannoli. Like that sweet thing.
Yeah, that's a cannoli. What's the thing? That's a folded up pizza
thing that's a folded up pizza.
Oh, you're gonna ask the
Google I'm just getting pizza place of what?
Google says the kill zone girl zone. It's a girl
Oh, think about it for a second
yet that. My fingers together. We're all saying that we had pizza tonight. We went. We did went to pizza. And it's a fantastic local place. I think I think they've got all the country but I don't know ours. It feels like a mom and pop run place. Even if they do have all of our places. It's all very it's kind of just like one of our comfort places we go, but we're gonna be talking about mutations, not pitbulls, not
pizza bagels. I do want to mention, we do have a merch shop stored up FunFactFriday.com You can go pick up some fun merch. We're looking into doing a few more designs. Maybe something for Christmas. Not quite sure yet. And I'd also like to mention my show meet us pod. I'm back producing at least I released an episode last week and I'm pretty sure I'll get one out this weekend also. So I got a couple in the works and things are rolling. Very exciting. All the actors and writers are all
now paid if they opted in nice through the boost system. So cool. All right. We do actually have good news this week, everybody. Hello, and welcome to Fun Fact Friday news with our lead anger.
Oh me. Hello. So my good news today is gonna be about genetic mutations. And it's about something I'm very afraid of. But I will get through it for this good news segment.
Okay, what are you afraid of? Ed Sheeran, Ed Sheeran? Good news about Ed Sheeran? Gingers, gingers,
Ginger fake?
No. Yes. No. Okay. Let me ask you a question. Is it right? To pick on somebody because of one of their immutable characteristics? One of the things that they can't change, but I'm not picking on them. We're saying they're fake.
Yeah, I don't believe in red here. You don't
believe in red hair? You're the one that's got the problem. I don't think trees are real. I mean, have you ever ever seen history? Yeah, I think you've just seen pictures. Like the guy that was trying to convince people to birds were fake.
My buddy doesn't believe that hazel eyes exist.
I've got hazel eyes.
All right, mister, tell me about you.
Yeah, pillar. My dad's got hazel eyes. Well, you Dad doesn't exist. Okay, so tell us about the gingers.
So there's proof that they're real. Cuz I've been around for millions of years and other species out there real.
Why wait. Got funding for this.
UCC apparently. Okay, see, paleontologist discovered molecular evidence of female melanin, which is the pigment that produces ginger coloration in the amphibians dating back 10 million years. So they've been around for 10 million years.
So there's been ginger amphibians. Ginger phibian. So you've had some, some people red haired, freckled. lizard people. Okay, I need you to say that in the mic a little clearer so that people can get a nice clip of that.
all genders are lizard people.
Know, however, many of our listeners are fans who are gingers we love. We love the red haired folks.
There's cool except for Ed Sheeran. He scares me. Look, if you're a fan of Ed Sheeran good for you. He just he genuinely scares me. He's so weird looking.
I can send Laila a picture of Ed Sheeran. I'm like, we have a little teams group for the family. And I can simply Olympics of Ed Sheeran. She's start over, like a jumpscare
I just realized that picture that you sent me like a month ago with Ed Sheeran. I did it wasn't leave. It was yes.
There was a picture. I realized it Yeah, it's out there. We're Ed Sheeran is all of the leaves on the ground are actually pictures little small pictures of a gerund. So my my news story is actually a good news story. That's not just talking about gingers old amphibious ginger melanin. Scientists have created natural sponges that soak up nanoplastics Ah, which is awesome because nanoplastics bad. So basically, they made a mixture of see what it was
gelatin and starch. And, you know, certain certain mixture they made there and it can can soak up microplastics and nanoplastics out of the ocean or any any water. body of water that would have them in there. There are they're saying that they have said scientists are still trying to study the adverse health effects of ingesting and inhaling microplastics and nanoplastics. We, on average, inhale or ingest as much plastic as is in 50 Credit cards a year is what this
is saying. Just like as you drink water,
I wonder if they could do that with Gelatt with agar agar instead of gelatin. I don't know what that is. It's like a vegan. It elegent it's a bit of a plant. I think it's some type of seaweed.
That's, I mean that it could be what they're using. I don't know. It just says Chinese scientists created some experimental sponges out of starch and gelatin they get real, real particular about it. So yeah,
I think gelatin is made of in with other okay.
Yeah, I don't I was wondering. So, basically, they said that it can remove around 90% of the plastic particles from the environment that they're put into. And they they said if these things come out to where you can like buy them it would be very beneficial. If everybody through one of these packs that absorbs this stuff into your laundry as you're doing your laundry because a lot of The nanoparticles and stuff that are getting in there are coming out of artificial
clothing when they're going through the wash cycle. And then as the water leaves your washing machine, the plastics go out into the, you know, into the don't get caught by the filters, because they're too tiny. Very tiny plastics. So that's our good news segment. We actually actually got some stories this week. So. So there you go. But still, yeah, it is basically just saying that they talk about Yeah, they talk about red hair
and ginger characteristics being recessive. So they're not gonna be around forever that they
found the pigment that makes ginger hair. ginger hair, right? In animals?
Yep. From long, long, long ago. Yeah. Fossils neat. So where are we talking about mutations? Yep, genetic mutations. But I'm just saying mutations for the title because it's less typing. I've heard some really neat stuff talks about, and they've actually got on this site on Business Insider, they have an article about it actually has like the name of the gene, or like the code for it. And then what it
does for you. And there's basically all these like, the art, the article title is eight genetic mutations that can give you score unquote, superpowers. And we can talk about some that we might have here in a bit. But the one that I found neat, and I kind of wish I could get a yellow pill to take or something is H D, C, two, it's the super sleeper mutation, man. And the article says, if you can feel if, if wait. I'm a professional podcaster. Imagine if you could feel totally energized with just
four hours of sleep each night. That's kind of how I am. That's kind of why these people are short, short sleepers. The scientists only recently uncovering what exactly predisposes them to be this way, for the most part researcher believe that their capabilities are connected to specific genetic mutations, and have publicly identified the gene as the whatever I said earlier. That means that the short sleeping habits can run in the family. And I'm I'm I'm a short
sleeper, I go to bed. I get in bed, and then shamefully I mess around my phone for a little while. But I should keep the phone out of the room. But it is what it is. I'm an adult, the time that I go to sleep is normally between 130 and 230 in the morning, that's no good. Yeah. And then I get up around
mass 630 to eight depending on what's going on. So but I'm not normally like oh, your daughter, you know, sometimes I'm if it's been a couple of days where I've had very little sleep, but I may have, I don't I've never been genetically tested, I don't really want to get genetically tested. Yeah. And then another one that was really neat is the L RP five, which is the ulurp five, or LARPs. If you turn to five into an S, it is the LRP.
Five is the gene that regulates your bone mineral density. So it can cause break weak, brittle bones, or extremely strong bones. So depending on how it just one or the other. Yeah. So there's multiple mutations that can come from that gene. And one of them is extremely dense bones that are practically unbreakable. And then they LRP or the other end of it is the super riddle, weak bones. So it's like a slider bar for how strong your bones are that gene which is really nice. So you can
have mutations either way. I have I have never broken a bone mean either. I know. But I have. We have a relative who has broken multiple bones multiple times. We do on things that probably it felt like it was. It shouldn't have it didn't feel like it was enough for us to break bones. So might be on the other end of the spectrum on that one.
They were like, Oops, oh, my arms are broken.
Whoopsie so yes, some of these are pretty good.
Yeah. heterochromia Oh, yeah, I think that's super cool. It's when you have like two different eye colors. So like one of your eyes could be blue and the other one's brown. You know,
Papa, I got some, some of those reusable water bottles that are they have like little pop top. Yeah.
And this website is one of those websites where it will tell you something and then it gives you the personal life story of the person. So let me try and find a fact. through there are three types of heterochromia there's complete which is each is different color, sectoral and is a segment of contrasting color and the iris or central which is a different color radiating out from the pupil.
I think that one's neat too. There is a actress that has that. Oh boy, she played Lois Lane in one of the Superman movies. And I can't remember her name.
There used to be a girl at my school with heterochromia. She got she got expelled. We don't talk about that.
There was a somebody had a dog and one of the youtubers shorts people has a dog with it or Chromia and they have heterochromia. And it's the same. So like they have a brown in a blue eye. And then the dog has the same like the left eyes brown the right eye blue.
So double eyelashes. And double eyelashes. There's chose this picture of like Elizabeth Taylor. And it's not a great picture. So I'm gonna look at another one up.
I bet Richard Alpert from last has double eyelashes. Google Google Google.
I'm just looking to double eyelashes. Because I want to see a better picture of it. Because that's like a colorized
I'm gonna look up whether Nestor has has it.
Yeah. So yeah, it's just like really thick eyelashes it looks like but it can be related to some pretty serious heart related disorders. Oh, that's that's pretty bad.
Yeah, it's interesting how how they'll you'll have something that seems completely unrelated. But like almost everybody who's like, ring finger fingernail grows twice as fast as the rest of their fingernails. Like they'll also have their left leg muscle is half the size. You know, there's like there's all these all combinations that i Let's see copy. I'm putting Nestor Carbonell
but it's the result of a transcription error in the 16th chromosome.
Oh, so whoever the transcriptionist that 16th
chromosome should see.
That chromosome needs to get Dred Scott on the on the case? Absolutely. She does our transcriptions for us. And
help you find anything? Yes, he has it. He does.
Yes. Nestor Carbonell, or, no, no, he's got an accent. distich hypothesis. It's an extra row of eyelashes that grows around the eye. It is painful because they can push into the sclera Elizabeth Taylor suffered from the same condition. So one of the things we just talked about one of the characters on last name was Richard. And like everybody was like, why is he wearing eyeliner? Because it looks like he's wearing eyeliner the whole show right? But he's not like
they make a joke about it on the show. He's like, you know, Captain eyeliner or whatever. But he's got that the double eyelashes and they actually put concealer on it sometimes to tone down how thick his eyelashes are. So yeah, it's it's an interesting and Nestor Carbonell and just interesting stuff is like why has that power and eyeliners think he's a rockstar or something.
So red hair is a genetic mutation.
Yep. That's That's what Yeah, that's one of the reasons we picked that story.
Yeah, it's if you have to variant copies of the gene MC one are my chemical one romance on each of your 16th chromosomes. Man the the 16th chromosomes slack and
so I wonder if the 16th chromosome has like a lot of our non critical like our features features right? Ah, sweet. Let's look into this a little more. Maybe listing. So have you ever heard of hyper trick Kosis troncos eat me
said it better how to.
Calm down. hypertrichosis is also called a Werewolf Syndrome, or our Ambrus syndrome, and affects as few as one and a billion people. Oh, and in fact, only 50 cases have been documented since the Middle Ages. Wow. People with whose knowledge is hypertrichosis like the 50s before the Renaissance 1300s 1500s I don't know what they call the Middle Ages. I guess 13 to 1500. Look at anyhow, excessive hair on the shoulders, face and ears. Yes, as before the Renaissance. Yeah.
So if you look up hyper hypertrichosis do a brave search for it. And it looks like like from the monsters. It looks like the werewolf kid from the monsters. It's just normal. Yeah, normal people but like just imagine hair growing out of every inch of their face, and shoulders and back and all that. Let's call it Werewolf Syndrome. It's just nothing. I mean, you gotta shave it and keep it groomed up. But other than that,
it doesn't really hurt anything. Yeah, so where was the page that was on there it is.
So that same my chemical one romance thing. What? You hear me say that MC one or?
Oh, yeah, I got
it. It works correctly and doesn't give you red hair. It turns out,
there's nothing wrong with red hair. It's just that it's not the norm. It's an outlier. So it's
fine. But it turns all the field Metaline into human AlAnon you I said both of those wrong field
rise so
pheomelanin into eumelanin. Are you how do you how do you say Europe? Your you melon. Okay. This means the skin tans instead of freckles. So it freckles, freckles, freckles recordset
all that causes a mutation. Yes, yes.
And it's because when you're exposed to UV light, your Melachrino lights produce melanin. Okay. And bad things.
Okay. All right. All right. So there's another one. There's, these are so interesting to me. This is all these little little differences that we can all have. This one is called. You ready? Yeah. Flute the flute? No, it is epid Derma epidermidis. Play Xia veru Conformis. verruca pharmacy. Okay? So it's an extremely rare disorder that makes people prone to widespread human papilloma virus infection. Ah, okay, so
HPV Yeah. Okay, so basically the skin is kind of gross. So if you're gonna like gross stuff, skip bird, down 30 seconds. These skin eruptions up here like weren't like lesions, and even wood like or horns or like growths. With reddish brown pigment and plaques, pigmented plaques. So you can grow horns out of your body. Typically, skin tumors start to emerge in people between the age of 20 and 40. And growths tend to appear in areas exposed to the sun. It's also called Lewandowski,
Lutz, dysplasia. And there's no known cure, though treatments to scale back the growths are possible. I've seen a documentary about someone who had this and they had like, horns go out of their face. So it looked very it was actually look pretty rock and roll, but just where this person had them growing. Is it Yeah, it's it's probably terrible. Terrible. So it's not fun fact, but
blue eyes are a genetic mutation. Really, everything is
genetic. Everything. Yes. Because but we're talking about like the more rare ones. Yeah, so blue eyes are not the norm. Especially if you go worldwide with
it. Yeah. And I just learned this that blue eyes are kind of the norm because there's a lack of melanin
so what's the what's the
actually know the norm is as brown because that's all the melanin or all of the color because like, think of it as a cup. So your iris is this cup, okay. And blue eyes are when the cup is empty. If you add just a little bit of like water like the water is pigment, a little bit of water to this cup, you get green eyes. Then if you add a little bit more you get like more colored eyes and if you pour the whole thing in your eyes brown.
Okay, that makes sense. So yeah, so it's like if you got the sliders on your when you're picking the colors on a color wheel thing,
but that also means that we're more sensitive to light. Right? Like you will be fine, but I have to walk outside like sunglasses on.
See? My eyes are a little weird on light also. Well, fake. Yeah, he's really he's lies are fake. I'm not real. So like, it's maybe something completely unrelated to eye color. I'm sure it is. But like at night, my eyes go into like almost like a high contrast mode where things were either really dark
or real. I can't do that. So as I've
Brown is the most common eye color globally estimated 70 to 90% of the world's population having it. Yeah, so brown eyes results, whatever, whatever. That's, that's good enough. What was the article I was looking at? Okay, so talking about vision. So humans have pretty keen vision. Compared to other animals. We have three different types of cone presence in our eyes, which gives us an evolutionary advantage as hunter gatherers by better enabling us to spot fruits and berries and
animals with only two types of cones. Now then, then we've got colorblindness. Yeah, and colorblindness fascinates me. Me too. I used to work. He's worked at Outback, as longtime listeners will know. And we had, we had after Oh, I think we got
like two free shirts, two free work shirts. And then if we wanted different colors, we could buy them, you know, and you got, you know, a new free one every six months or whatever, but I wanted to buy multiple colored shirts, so I wouldn't have to wash clothes every every other day, you know? So I went back there. And I was like, Hey, give me give me give me one of the green ones. And then give me out on a purple one. And he grabs two green ones. He's like, you're gonna
have to do better than that. And I'm like I said, I just said exactly what I want. He's like, I'm colorblind. These look exactly the same, to be honest, like brothers are the same. He's like, Yeah, but all of those look the same to me. I'm like, maybe you should. You shouldn't you shouldn't be in charge. I handed out the different colored shirts then man.
Boy, like, Yeah, I'll write everybody's names. But I'm blind. Why can't use my arms?
Yeah, it's like, it was like, why are you doing this? You should there's like eight other people that could do this part of the job for you. But it was just funny because he just grabbed the two off the top. He's like, are these good? Man tried. He tried. He knew what he was doing. You know, you know? I'll tell you who it is later. Okay. So and then already did the super dense bones. But yeah, colorblindness is much more common in males
than females. For some reason, there's a couple of things that are like that. And they say, I can't remember where I read this. It was a long time it goes back around were post office, I think I read a lot of magazines went to the post office. They say that women on average, can see more colors. Okay, he's talking about on average with a colorblindness but like the average dude who's not colorblind can't see as many
colors as the average woman. So like you'll there's a picture floating around online where there's two different color fingernail polishes. And it says women will sit there and tell you these are two different colors. And they are see the picture. I've seen the picture, they are two different colors. But that just tells me that I can see, you know, a little bit more colors. Some people swear up and down, they see exactly
the same color. Wow. So it's so interesting to me. And then that leads me into something that is even more interesting about the eyeballs. We have no idea how other people perceive coffee sauce
made a video about this. Yeah, you can is like, is your read the same as my read? Because there's no way to describe a color?
Nope. Without using colors. Yeah, without using colors. You can't describe colors. Yeah.
It's so weird.
And then just kind of goes to shows like if we could all be seeing the world slightly different than each other. Yeah, we're completely different from each other. Right? But you'll never know. We'll never know. There's just so much stuff we can't know because there's isn't language for it. It makes me wonder if there's is a way using other languages to do that. And we've just lost it because our languages or we haven't discovered it yet. Ways to talk about it. Language is such an
interesting thing. There's this book called 1984. You may have heard of it and talks about how if you take away words that are more precise and you end up with smaller vocabulary and people then those people can't talk about things that there's no words for. Yeah. So it's that you know, it's a good good way to control folks is to control language. It's interesting. Interesting concept. Yeah. pain tolerance. Well, MCR one. Back to that one.
Nope. That's the wrong one.
It says super pain tolerance. Yes, some research. What do you mean thrown one?
MC one RS one.
Oh, your MC one are okay. Yeah, not Miko. gourmands one. It's my chemical one romance.
Yeah, mine's one my chemical one mine. One romance. Yours is My Chemical Romance
one. Okay, so somebody's confused. Some research has shown that people with red hair have a higher tolerance for stinging pain or spicy food. They see it I have no hair and Scott like spicy food. So he burned it all off. Now what's interesting about my hair, and I don't know if I've just, like got jeans from everywhere. But my beard hair back before it all started turning white. I had like every type of hair in my beard. Like when I would shave I would find like super bright red
hair. And then like fine blonde hair and then like curly hairs. And it was just it was weird because I have like, this weird mix of all the different types of hair and my beard. Great American melting pot. Yep. My beard.
Absolutely.
There's a t shirt just a picture of a beard with different color hair in it. Melting Pot, the great American melting beard. Okay, so supposedly, while this could have something to do with the rumors that they don't have a soul Yeah, see, it's not the jokes about gingers I don't like anyway. It's more likely due to a variation in the My Chemical Romance one gene, which reduces red hair and also restrict melanin production. The reason why all redheads are so pale
skinned. That's it's probably a good thing that they take the pain to, since the same gene mutation that causes them to be less responsive to any anesthetics that are major that are injected under the skin. So here we go. Talking about something a little personal. Yeah. We, meaning Leila and I both have a a high tolerance for anesthesia. Which Leila found out when she went to have her mouth surgery? Yeah.
I think I told the story before but still.
Yeah. So she went to have it and the anesthesia didn't work. And they didn't tell me that and tell her it didn't work. They just kind of go into town doing their surgery stuff. It happened to me when I was getting my wisdom teeth taken out. And also when I was having an endoscopy done, because I had a piece of roast beef stuck in my throat. Because here's your
lesson for today, folks. I don't know, chew your food. Yeah, those are fun facts for the day when you have when you have food in your mouth to make sure and Chew it well enough to where it's not going to get stuck halfway down. But yeah, they had to put an endoscopy scope down my throat to enlarge a piece of roast beef. And I woke up in the middle of it. Right, well, two minutes into it. And they had a heck of a time getting me knocked out in the first place. But then I woke up in the middle
of it. Then during my wisdom to surgery. I woke up in the middle of that. And it was pretty horrifying. With the hammer and the chisel and everything. But
did we tell them that I had you and my family and that you're not very tolerant to it? Or you're super tolerant to it? I
think we told them I think yeah, I think we told them that it might be a problem. Yeah.
I'm going to do it. Yeah. So but they gave me a full adult dose of it. Right. And it didn't work.
Yeah, that when they the time we found it didn't work for me. They said that they gave me enough enough to knock out a 500 pound dude. And it didn't even make me drowsy.
I don't even know what they said to my mom. Right? Because it was out in the hallway and I was still sitting there with my mouth wide open with the ice pack on. And I was like well,
okay, so speaking of that, we may we may have oh, a week or two of either cam shows or no shows coming up here pretty soon because I am going to be having to go to get a surgery done. And I don't know how it's gonna affect me. And, and also
and also, I'm getting braces
can be talking like the Hey, toggle buddy, I am gonna be making. So yeah, we're gonna try and get some some episodes in the can for those two weeks. But if you make support, if you if you make support, if you support the show during that time, then it might be a couple of weeks before we can get to mentioning it on the air because that is part of the value for value system, the feedback, you support us, we give you a shout
out on the show, as they call it. But we're really just recognizing the support the value that you give back for our show. We did receive some value payments, support, if you will. This week, we got our two monthly sustaining donations 1912 from Dred Scott. Thank you Drib. Much and also for the chapters. If you don't listen to this show,
with chapters, what are you doing?
What are you even doing?
What are you even doing?
Normally it's it takes a little bit, you know, a day or so your drive to get the chapters done for the show. But if you give it a couple of days, and go back and check out the chapters drept has a lot of work into it. He finds perfect art. He does perfect titles for the chapters with little emojis. It's fun, and definitely a valuable part of the show. But thank you so much for the 1912 Dred Scott and Oreo donation. Yeah, as always. And $10 from Steven Grimes, one of our
longest sustaining, sustaining donors. Yeah. And HostGator raised their prices. That's our host, so almost doubled them. So yeah. That's gonna be a lot of work, though. Because I've got like, I think I've got like 17 websites parked with them. Something like that. Or I did. I don't know. I got a lot. And um, yeah, so that that was our value for value section for the show. This week. We had, we haven't had any boosts since the last show. And that's fine. You know? Yeah, no worries. And we're
always looking for folks to help out with anything. We want to help out with art, music, and
if you are an expert in something, or can pretend to be
Yeah, we're looking for guests. Hit us up. Yeah. Or if you know, eight, we want to do Leila really is into the brain. Yes, and how the brain works. And she really wants to talk to a neurologist. So if you know a neurologist, who might be entertaining to talk to for 30 minutes to an hour. We'd love to pick their brain. Oh, I guess you're a nerd. But yes, thank you for the for the generous support. And we will be Monday, I was looking, trying to see if I had any other notes. Oh, yeah.
Um, all of our new listeners, we we've got a lot of new listeners recently. Actually, let me pull it up real quick. Because I want to give a shout out to some of the other countries that listen to our show. We have
also like no show wisdom teeth, or a gene mutation. Doesn't matter that no
show wisdom
teeth. Yeah, Wisdom teeth that like don't.
I don't, I don't think wisdom teeth are supposed to be taken out. I was reading something about that recently. Like, if you just leave them in there and let them do their thing. It's gonna hurt real bad. But it also does something to your jaw to I don't know, I didn't look too into it. But they were talking about how you should just endure the pain for six months, and then you'll be stronger for later or something like that. So I was looking at our stats, which I don't do
often. And we have a lot of listeners. And wow, yeah, we got a lot and it's been picking up. And we I was gonna say, Here's a few of our quick little stats that are kind of just fun to look at. You can actually look at these if you go to there's a couple of different places you can go and look at the OP three statistics for the show because it's all open. We don't we don't try to hide anything. Since we don't do ads. It doesn't matter. We're not going to fiddle about our numbers. 78% of our
listeners are in the US. Three, three and a half percent are in the Netherlands. Hello, Netherlands. Oh 3% or in Canada, 3% or Australia. And then we've got Philippines, Mexico, Spain, Germany and UK. Cool are the top the top countries. Our top metro areas for listeners is Charleston, South Carolina. We love Charleston. Charleston is awesome. That's 8.35% for the last month, actually just September 23 was less than the Raleigh Durham area which is Yeah, our area essentially.
Yeah. And then LA. All three of those are about 8% And then it jumps down to San Diego Seattle Denver, Cleveland got the Cleveland area and then Jacksonville and then it dips below you know there's the the lower numbers top EU regions I don't even know what this means. North Brabant
that's the syrup that's the
and then overreach useful I guess these are these are from Europe Netherlands these are Netherlands places I'm not going to try and pronounce them correctly. And then central Bohemia England, the North Holland Canary Islands top Asian reasons regions calibogue Calabar is on Phnom Penh don't know what those are. Most of our listeners listen and fountain Apple podcast or podcast addict? Yeah, and there's a good podcast overcast music be fountain and podcasts edit and pod verse, and
overcast. All those are podcasting. 2.0 at least some of the features. Nice 43%, Android 37%. iPhone, and then a bunch of other stuff. Cool, isn't it? I find it interesting. I like looking at statistics need information. But I mean, like a lot of podcasters will use these stats to try and like oh, we can start selling ads. If we get above this number. This numbers. I don't I don't. I mean, if we had like 10 listeners, we're all just, you know, hey, you know, here's some facts. Here's a
here's a show a show idea. Here's, you know, here's here's some support. We only have like 10 listeners that were really good listeners. We still did a show. We love having lots of listeners. We really do. But we're not trying to sell ads. We're not trying to sell your ears to an advertiser. We like you for you. Absolutely not for the CPM.
