Hello
Hello, hello. Welcome to Fun Fact Friday. I'm your host.
I'm your host, David. I'm Leila's dad.
Fun Fact Friday, friend. As always, we podcast we discuss fun facts that we find online. Each episode will have each episode one famous episode is video game for this episode will be in the show notes. So you weren't doing this video game.
I was just listening to you. Hey, everybody,
I was gonna have you do the parts where you did it.
I was I was I was listening to you the difference in your voice. Oh
my gosh,
hey, this is Fun Fact Friday.
We're a weekly podcast that we do facts around a different topic each week. I don't know what you're thinking about,
except for this week, except for this week. So due to lack of planning, we are going to be we're going to be fact checking ourselves and also going back and listening to our first episode today and make fun of ourselves. We realize that it's been a we've been doing the show for over three years. And a lot has changed with you know, us and her
I went through puberty. I still I'm not done with that. But my voice has changed. And I have changed as a person. Everything's changed, man.
Yeah, so I have a personality now. Yeah, yeah, well, you have one you've all you've had one for a while. But before we do that, we are going to think we do have one boost. We got one boost to gram come in from just listening 555 SATs through the fountain at the fountain.fm that is one of those new fancy apps that you can boost which is donating to the show essentially. And amounts called Satoshis, which is a tiny bit of a Bitcoin. But just listening says I just got to see
the Ross Creek cedars in Montana. I'm jealous. Me too. That was that wasn't just listening to words with my wife and her family. And there was a bighorn sheep just chillin in the parking lot. I would like to see that too. I like nature was I love sheep. Anyhow, there are big trees, eight foot in diameter or more. Another good episode. So, man, I want to go out west so bad. I haven't been further west. I mean, I've landed we went to Vegas, but that's like, you land there. And you're there.
I got really bad laryngitis because it was so dry. Yeah, yeah. You're
not used to that dry environments. So for a week. Yeah. It was fantastic. I bet it was. Oh, no. But yeah, it's super, super humid here. I needed to put the wig hat on. And we didn't we didn't we got a lot going on. We got a convention this weekend. Yeah. And we didn't have time to do I've been working on some cool gifts for the for different shows. And I did did one for us. It maybe in the chapters. I haven't done right. I'm not sure if that's the one I want to put
in the chat. I don't know if the chapters has an animated GIF of our logo. You'll see. You'll see what I mean, I posted it on Mastodon but I'm not sure if that's the final version or not. But yeah, tonight, we are just going to go back and we're going to reminisce and we're gonna go back to the first episode. And pick it apart and make fun of ourselves and mainly me. Now I want to like listen to the audio quality, and our listen to like I'm already here and how bad I know you compared to how we
sound now. Which is not even 100% I mean, I've got I've got just the quick settings on for everything. Yeah. But yeah, we're just gonna listen to episode one a Fun Fact Friday you can, you can't get to it through a podcast player. Just because I'm actually about to go through and get some get rid of some more episodes because our feed is getting really long. But you can go to Fun Fact friday.com And listen to any of our episodes. I think we only had like the last 70 on our
feed. Depending on when you're listen to this. I may be pairing that down soon. But yeah, pop over to Fun Fact Friday, click the episodes tab. While you're there, go ahead and click the store tab and go to the store and get some merch if you want know if this is this is a requirement if you have the money to support Oh yeah, whoever whoever we just had a big old purchase the other day, whoever that was, thank you.
Thank you so much. We appreciate that. And definitely if you want shoot us over some pictures of of the merch when it comes in. It's very excite All right, so you got anything else did you want to? Oh, one thing. So aliens are like a thing now. Yeah, that's what they said. And the House of Representatives, they were just like, hey, yeah, aliens, man. You know, everybody was like, Okay. Like, no. I mean, that's what that's all
of us right now.
I told Leila and she's like, okay. Yeah,
I was like, Okay,
sure. Why not? Yeah, might as well. They were they weren't expecting them to come in 2020. But yeah, they were they were kind of guarded with the language. But I think panorama. It's you just yet. I'm getting to where I don't believe a lot of stuff to say on TV, especially. So let's listen to the first episode. And here we go.
fortnight has more users than Netflix. In the first quarter of 2018. Netflix had 125 million streaming subscribers worldwide. fortnight topped 125 million registered players in less than a year since its release. More than 40 million people play the game at least once a month.
So you're popping your pop and your peas right into your microphone.
Now we don't have pop filters right now. We've just
learned. Yeah. And you talk Can you talk a little off axis?
Yeah, pop up. Pop, pop, pop, pop.
Oh, you gotta love a little bit. One. Little, little tiny plosive plus we have plosive rejection. And we have Yeah, it was really Yeah, we got Yeah, we've upgraded the equipment. Thanks for it. Great donations from our fans. What can make crochet popular crochet pop filter? that would that would mess up the sound wouldn't. Yeah, we can test it. Yeah, we can just make make one little, little has been crochet. I have. She's got this like big needle and she like stabs it
into yarn. And it turns into stuff. Yeah, magic. I don't understand. It's not a needle. It's a hook. I understand that. I know. I know more more about crocheting than you think I know about crochet. Well, I do call it knitting to mess with me. I do it. But yeah, so we jumped right into the facts there, didn't we? Wow, you just started reading you just started reading facts. All right. I
think we had a script in this episode. It was
kind of kind of I remember correctly, we just had like a real, real detailed outline.
We had that one note clipper thing. So we will clip an actual sentence from the website and we buried it in our OneNote now we
just leave the tab open and kind of scroll through the way yeah. All right. No, I did not know that. But most of them are under the age of 15. Every time I play there's just a million little squeaky kid voices. That's fine. I can just mute it. I have only played fortnight a few times with Leila
and I'm not a fan. You hear that echo? I feel like I get headshot out of nowhere afternoon build my arsenal up and we're getting good we're moving to where the storms closing in and then boom microphone is bad as it was millions and millions of kids out there playing. So where did you find your fact?
I found my fat fifteen.com Nasty this behavior.
So I'm listening to the audio quality right because I need to I used to listen to you talk all the time. Like yeah, and I'm I'm wondering how bad the actual original audio sounds because if I remember correctly, we edited the this
all of it. My gosh, we had
an hour to edit a 15 minute episode we had audacity to edit. I think I had Reaper at that point. No, we had our draft where we're using Audacity. I remember editing it and a lot of it because he taught me to edit. Oh, that's right. That's right. It's very simple, but it was yeah, the only only time I edit now is if Leila says one of our teachers names or i i say something or you know I burp really loud. I don't I don't
know where we'll edit those things out sometimes. But very rarely, like once every five or six weeks, we actually have to edit something out. Now we just pretty much just go we hit record. We go through the episode and we hit Export and the road caster exports it to a file and I post it so yeah, I remember I remember the editing, and we did not like editing and that's how I talked you into doing the live. Yeah, because I made you do the editing and you're like I don't know what to
do. I was like then learn to talk better. What was that? That was the fortnight Yeah, do wanna go back in here?
Yeah, come on fact check 100 of a theme see Have a theme theme for this episode is video games. All your facts sources will be in the show notes. So here's my first video game fact. fortnight has more users than Netflix in the first quarter of 2018. Netflix had 125 million streaming subscribers worldwide fortnight topped 125 million registered players in less than a year since its release. More than I
skipped 30 seconds. So what are we got now? Yeah, cuz it's three years ago.
Yeah. Let's see. Oh my gosh, I don't care. I don't want to sign up for your stupid website.
You read more than two articles on our website and a 30 day period, and then you have to pay us money for you. And it's all this isn't a good website. And all those articles are AI generated anyway, I know. Okay, I'm gonna hit play, and you continue looking for the fortnight subscription numbers and the Netflix subscription numbers. And let's see how things have changed in three years. Build my arsenal up and we're getting good. So where did you find your fact?
Out? fortnight Battle Royale?
Oh, okay. That's okay. Well, here's my fact. All right. Did you find it? No. Okay. A little old school. Almost 40. And oh, I was. I was a baby. I wasn't even 40 yet.
It's only been like three years? Well, no,
because we started in 2022. Right. And May of 2022. No, no. 2020 I was 10. Yeah, so we started in May of 2020. And then May of 2023 just happened?
Yeah. So it's been three years.
130 3939 time 4041. And I'm 41 and a half next month.
Where are you? 42 and just forgot.
Well, no, it's September 18. Is my half birthday. So yeah. My half birthday.
Hold on
your half birthday. Okay, okay. I know. What's the problem? I can't do math is the problem. Okay. I've been out of school for too long. Okay. Okay,
so fortnight has I hate fortnight. fortnight?
That's 2018. Yeah, I'm
trying to find it. That may well, so this is when we started.
Why don't you pop on FunFactFriday.com and click the link in the show notes to see if that makes sense.
And you'll probably still be up.
So while we're while we're waiting on that, Leland, I've just found a website called puzzle barons logic puzzles. I Gosh. We love Robert. Logic. Robert over. logic puzzles are fantastic. It's the like, Herb Ingram's movie came out in 2015 4040. Is the site dead? Most of them? Wow. Well, I guess we'll never know. I guess we'll never know.
We use Screen ramp, but this is not available anymore.
Yeah. Well, I mean, that's, that was a good good amount of time ago. Netflix, current subscribers.
I think it's like 115 but I'm not sure that was 2019. So
I don't think that they actually released the numbers of their current subscribers.
Yeah, probably not. I don't like Netflix. Oh,
44 Netflix, Netflix statistics. 2023. Here's a brief overview. 238.3 9 million. I think.
Yeah, fortnight still does have more users. I assume
because fortnight is free. Yeah. And kids and and children. Well, you know, kids get to the age where they can actually play it. Yeah. And that the people who have been playing it continue to play it. Oh, fortnight Hell has a you can pay for it now. Oh, wait, no, that's
always been a thing that that's the Battle Pass.
I don't play the game. Alright, let's let me see what my effect was on of the Nintendo era. And back when Nintendo was making the original Legend of Zelda, they toyed with the idea of letting players make their own levels. The game itself was going to be almost exclusively about building dungeons to work
your way through after testing. They found that they enjoyed playing through the dungeons and solving the puzzles much more than they enjoyed making them what the lead Legend of Zelda was going to be like Mario Maker but with Legend Zelda gameplay. You know, I remember that. No. And then I was like Mario Maker exists. Maybe they should do a Zelda maker? That would be amazing. And they still haven't.
I mean, you can make stuff.
Well, here's the kingdom. Yeah, that's a building system. You can't make your own dungeons? Oh yeah, you can't make your own dungeons, which I would love for shrines to be able to go make. Yeah, well, in the original Legend of Zelda, it was just all dungeons. And I mean, you could do it in like RPGmaker or something, but it's not like on the console. So let's continue. So can you imagine mario maker but for Zelda, which I have always thought should have been a
thing. I would love to make an original Legend of Zelda level. I'm sure there's ways to do it out there. But an actual console game where you make your own Legend of Zelda. My brain works
the same way. Interesting. I did not know that.
Have you ever played through the original Legend of Zelda? I played like a couple of
dungeons. But you never got never gotten all the way through it.
Yeah, you were nervous kids these days with your video games. You get the you got so many options and so many free to play games back when when I was a kid. The games were 50 bucks apiece give or take. And so you'd only get one or two or three years depending on your income level. But you and 50 bucks back then was more than it is now. Oh yeah. When the when the 64 came out the games were $70. And that was back that. Oh, and that money that was in the late 90s. Yeah. So I like
the 64 controllers.
They're funny. Yeah, the three prong the Trident played the crap out of those games that you got. That was my first fact. Do you have another fact for us relating to video games?
Yes, I have another one about fortnight, which is a school has banned the floss because the moves are intimidating children on the playground. Players Avatars can perform. Players Avatars can perform celebratory dances and the most popular victory dance is the floss. A dance which requires you to simultaneously sway your hips and arms and opposite direction Oh, the floss primary school and divan England. I don't know.
You were doing really good at reading. But if I remember correctly, you read I read her you rehearsed a lot for the first episode.
You know we do now. We look at our facts 15 minutes before the show. And we're like,
this is a good site. Now. Don't read them. Here's the thing, though. To be fair, on the episodes where we actually come out here and sit for an hour or so before, instead of just running out here right before we record. All those episodes are better. That she's episode, the cheese episode.
outline of what we're doing. Yeah, we were like, Intro support. Boom, boom, boom. Outro
Yeah, we kind of have like, let's go let's go with like the history for a little while. Episodes. Yeah, the cheese episode is fantastic. Although the light episode just had a huge hit. And the numbers like a whole bunch of people got got on that one. I don't know if we were featured on a list or something. But we got like, three times the normal downloads on that one. Oh, yeah. Oh, the light episode just happened to happen to hit hard. Maybe it was Aziz. Aziz light sick reference.
That's how you say it. But they banned flossing because they felt that fortnight rewards the maths of killing other human beings with dance of celebration, celebration. Oh, geez.
I get well, I mean, there's celebratory dances and football and stuff. I guess they kind of they try and discourage those for the similar reason. But I think the floss. Maybe I'm just old but it just looks annoying. And maybe the teachers were just tired of watching the kids.
Had to give a reasonable answer about it.
Most of the kids I see doing the floss dance. Or did see nobody does it anymore. But back in the day, it was always the most laughable face. Like they always had this laughable smile on you know, like because you didn't need all smoky. Floss dance. Where are you cringing so hard over there.
Nothing I was gonna say something but then I realized I shouldn't say it on the podcast
subscribe to our Patreon for the behind the scenes. No, no, I'm just kidding. We I think we actually do still have a Patreon. Do people know we we haven't had anybody subscribe to us. I don't think it's because we never like yours. Yeah, that's true. But I mean, we don't offer anything else on there. It's just kind of another way for you to give us support.
So if you don't have like, a new podcast episode,
right playing for Right. Okay, so that's a interesting one, relating to fortnight in a kind of a roundabout way. I've got a couple of real quick facts going back to the older days, and other aspects. Related fact, I'm not stuck in the old days with the nostalgic video games I do keep up with stuff but I gotta play some a heart for this old stuff. Nintendo's main character Mario because first appeared in the arcade game Donkey Kong in July 9 1981. And went by the name Jump Man.
Pretty straightforward.
Just that was just, you know, letting you know his first. First thing. Nolan Bushnell started Atari when just $500 within five years, the company had earned $28 million. And by nicely to the sales topped 2 billion, and that's 19 $82. That's the year I was born. And a billion was a lot more back then. And a
pretty straightforward, pretty
straightforward. Mission to starting Atari Nolan Bushnell also founded the popular pizza and entertainment company, Chucky Cheese.
Very interesting father. was I trying to sound smart?
I don't know if you were making fun of me.
I think I was. I don't even know at this point. What was I do a very interesting father. That didn't so I'm
not a fan of myself. Yeah, you were messing with me. I've done a lot at the box car, which is a North Carolina based bar where they don't have a minute. It's a barcade. They have in other cities, but I believe the boxcar has like Raleigh, Greensboro. They have a couple of locations. Interesting Facts maybe page where they've got where I've gotten a few of these effects from Bowser, the main antagonist and Nintendo's
Mario franchise was originally envisioned to be an ox. This is probably why he has horns and a defined snout even though he's a turtle. Cool. So okay,
I love check what Well, I'm just
I'm listening to. I'm listening to audio. So critically now and like,
Okay, so we're this far away from your mic.
Right off, right. And when we got when we got featured on the no agenda show, which is what gave us a big boost of listeners near the beginning. John C. Dvorak was talking about oh, they sound like they're they've got it. They're on NPR. And NPR. I don't know if you I'm sure you've heard it before. It has a very dry, very, like low energy sound to it the way that the audio is like, the audio is so crispy on NPR. It's annoying.
Yeah. I don't like the crispy crunchy DS.
Yeah, they're their mixes always really. I don't know. It sounds off to me. It's just a style that they've chosen. But I get it. Because like, this is low, like our energy is very robotic. Because we rehearsed. We rehearsed and we wanted to feel like we were we were saying lines instead of just talking.
Yeah. Here's some video game facts about the game Minecraft. The Creator notch his avatar in the game. Once he dies, it drops an apple. His character is the only game Resident that does that.
So he logs onto a server or something. He has special code that then drops Oh, that's interesting. So basically, if we're ever playing Minecraft, and not just decides to swing by our server, we need to murder him for his apples. Yeah, that's
exactly what I was trying so hard to
spouted quite a few.
I have a couple more. So far away from my tea craft once in a while actually gets its name wrong. Reversing the E and the C
My lips are not touching. I wanted you to I wanted you to get good. Using a mic. Get good, get good. And, you know, you're constantly I'm not going to do mouth noises because I don't want thank you subjected you or our audience to the mouth noises but they bother me. I know they bother you. There's a there's good at not making them. There's a chat room that I joined. Sometimes it's in the voice chat. And they will ban you for eating or making mouth noises.
I love
they'll kick you off the server,
which it spell was mince craft, or mince raft instead of Minecraft. Also, the game's first name was much more straightforward. It was first to be known as the cave game.
I remember, on the 25th September, I was just playing with the idea of, of the video game Minecraft. I read an article I don't remember when it was, What magazine was in any of those things. I do remember it. The article was mainly about the world generation for Minecraft, because each world you go into if you're not familiar with Minecraft, each world and you start Rando which generates and for all intents and purposes, it is an infinite world, you could start in the center of the map
and run. It's, it's pretty much here's the thing, but for like I said, for all intents and purposes, not for all intensive purposes, which is what I thought that that phrase was for the longest time. But if you start running in Minecraft, in a quote unquote, infinite world, like it is, you will not reach the end. In your natural life, it would take too long for you to run. Using normal means no teleporting, no flying with jetpacks or mods liatris. Right? Just running your you can never
reach the end of the world. Just running. Full speed. And probably what I'm saying literally years to reach the very edge of the literal years of real world time to reach the edge of the map. It randomly generates what's called chunks. And then I there was like a real pregnant pause right afterwards. Hold on, I'll tell you likes real world time to reach. It randomly generates what's called chunks. I paused because your mother hates that word. Really like you
wanted to highlight the chunks to punctuate the chunks. These chunks takes into account the chunks around to create a cohesive world. So it's not just random, random pieces. And you do get some very interesting world generation sometimes. And it's really fun and interesting. But the article was mainly about the world generation, which was the most innovative part of Minecraft. But making a essentially a virtual Lego set. kind of took the world by storm and notch notch made a billion dollars.
Your voice is so deep. Yeah.
I actually artificially raise it now. Like I lower the bass and take on this mic. What? No, you don't. Yeah, I do. I'll show you the equalizer when we when we get done. I don't want to mess with it while we're in here. It's the mic. It's not it's not like I have oh, a super, super deep voice. But when I'm close to a mic off the frequent Well, I mean, we were using those $20 mics. That's true. And we were running them
through a low to know when we were running. Oh my goodness, we were running it through the Behringer mixer, the like $30 little mixer. And I had rigged it up calculator. Yeah. And I had to rigged it up till to actually work into the computer the right way. And it wasn't great. It wasn't great. And it's also possible that I was boosting my base back then. Because I want to do I want to just say oh, I wanted to sound nice and manly.
Is my computer like struggling and has two tabs open.
It's old. Computer Hardware wears out logic puzzles and our website. You also don't know what JavaScript that logic puzzle sites running and might be running bitcoin miner on your left. Oh, no. All right, so let's continue. That's a lot of money.
I saved one of the best facts that I've found for last. Oh, okay. Creepers began as a coding error. Have you got five minutes left? I was really interesting. What of Minecraft stranger native species is the creeper an electrically charged predator with a hunting mug. Notch didn't actually set out the design to be a monster he was trying to create a pig but accidentally switch the figures for the desired height and
length when inputting the code. The result was the monstrosity the players know and love.
I had some very bad experiences with that sort of noise before the creeper explodes. I've had some real They need redstone contraptions destroyed by creepers. So
I've had some like hours of work on a house destroyed by one.
So I've got one more little set of flags to say. So again, and we'll move on to our second segment. There, there's an urban legend, that turned out to be true. Oh, oh, Atari had so many unsold copies of the video game, et The Extra Terrestrial that they buried them. They I don't know if that's like they make that's like one of those facts that when somebody starts talking about Atari, or video game facts or things like that, somebody's like, Well, did you hear about like, everybody knows
it. But everybody thinks nobody else knows it. Yeah, stuff like that. So I mean, there's, there's always something that somebody doesn't know. And they actually find it interesting. And what's crazy is that I'm over 40. Now, just leave it at that. And
I always said it earlier.
But yeah, I still occasionally find out. I mean, mainly because of this show, I'll find out something I didn't know about like that tree last or last week, we were talking well, with the like, has the exploding seed pods. Like yeah, let's go and watch the video. No. I told you to go what? I don't remember I did. I haven't looked deeply into it. But I know that they made more copies of the game than there were consoles, as if they expected people to buy two copies of this
game. And they had and it was a terrible game. I remember playing the game. I picked it up for the arts. Well, let's it was it was a bad game. But what what gets me now is that you kind of do have to buy two copies of a game sometimes now, you know, you want to like because like I have a switch light. And Leila has the regular switch. But like if we want to play a game against each other, or like, in conjunction we have, we may have to buy two copies of
the game. And that's we just buy the physical copy which is the best. Right? But
if we want to, like Pokemon, if I want to trade with you, we have to buy two copies of it. Yeah, you know, unless we want to do some funky stuff with the marketplace or whatever. But yeah, so we bought two copies of a couple of Steam games so we can play together. So when I was probably about your age, I picked it up at a yard sale. And it was terrible. There was no goal. You would get caught into a loop sometimes and couldn't get out of it. It was bad. The bad graphics of course, graphics
were probably a little bit less than par for the time. But it was not a fantastic game. The extra copies were buried in the desert. They were done by a documentary crew, they already officially found the copies the pile and actually found the copies the pile of unused unsold copies of EDD extraterrestrial for the Atari were eventually sold on eBay for over $100,000
It's a piece of videogame history. So I kind of understand eccentric millionaire purchasing, purchasing these purchasing these or maybe even a museum putting them in video games. So we'll have to look up and see if that exists. But it does there's a museum. What rare thing would you buy? Like if we won the lottery and had just millions millions of dollars? And I was like, You know what, here? Here's $500,000 To buy
collectibles with what would you go? Yeah. That's tough. Because like, Would you like, buy one really, really rare, expensive thing and have it like an eyeglass case? Or would you buy like all like a copy of every single Super Nintendo game? Which would you know, I mean, like it wouldn't be as expensive per item, but you want to buy a lot of them. I don't know. You don't have like a spot? Well, you'd like you know, like it would would it be a video game? Would it be comic books? Would
it be stamps? Do you have anything that you would like a collection of? I'd like a collection of precious metals. Just all sorts of like gold coins and silver quality figures. Just a whole you just want to like a meet you Miku expensive they are? Are they expensive can be expensive. Oh speaking of figures. I print a Samus I printed the Miku Santa. It's about what do you say about a foot tall? Yeah, give or take.
Mine's about probably half a foot.
Yeah, yeah, it's about six or seven inches. The samurai printed is of course from the Metroid game. And I've been trying to find the best way to paint it and painting on a 3d printed thing is you You got to prime it and you got to use the right prime enamel.
I think you just should have put the enamel on it. I don't think you should have used the primary.
I think you're right. I think I should have just gone straight enamel. But the primer is already on there. I guess I could strip it off. But I forgot the arms paint on it. I could reprint it take forever, two days, three or four days. I could probably do the infill. I were getting in the 3d printing nerd stuff. Alright, so. But yeah, I'll post pictures of that once I get it all painted and all figured out for everything.
I have no words. That's amazing. That's really cool.
It's so cool, dad. Okay, so we're gonna move on to our second segment. Oh, you got a segment on each show. We're going to highlight an upcoming holiday that falls in the week after the episode is going to air Oh, this episode is released on May 22 2020, which is Memorial Day. I forgot for the last time I went out and found Memorial Day facts for us.
I did. multiple cities claimed to be the birthplace of Memorial Day. According to the Library of Congress, President Lyndon Johnson declared Waterloo New York to be the birthplace of Memorial Day, referencing to a celebration that the town had in 1866. However, other places are known to have celebrated the holiday earlier and exactly where the first celebration took place. remains a dispute.
Union General John A Logan founded the holiday. Although people were already decorating the graves of fallen Civil War soldiers in an unofficial way. General Logan codify the holiday. He famously said, totally not reading. So I'm looking at holidays because apparently we've forgotten to mention any upcoming holidays for the last 140 Something episodes. Looks like we've got today is the 27th. It is Teesha
VA T 's above the Jewish Jewish holiday. It's a Korean War veteran Recognition Day, just state as a state of observance in West Virginia. And it's also national Korean War veterans Armistice Day, which it's an official observance. And, yeah, let's see the next week. Oh, Barack Obama day is coming. August 4. That's next Friday. Ah, spoiler. Thanks, Obama spoiler. Coast Guards birthday is coming up. And yeah, so
who's the Coast Guard?
The Coast Guard. You don't know what the Coast Guard is? Yeah. Yeah, you do know what it is or yeah, you're, but I don't understand who it is. Okay. Well, you will walk away we will do one on the postcard. One episode. No, not not interesting. Not really, if it's anything having to do with the
government, um Okay. All right. So, yeah, so that let me let me just one minute and 30 seconds the 30th of May 1868 is designed for the purpose of screwing with flowers and otherwise decorating the graves of comrades who died in the defense of their country during the late rebellion, and whose bodies now lie in almost every city village and Hamlet churchyard in the land.
Memorial Day was originally called Decoration Day. Oh, the holiday was celebrated by decorating the graves of fallen soldiers with flowers, flags and more. Hence the name ERATION day. They said whose bodies by in almost every city, I thought to just like, chopped him up really finely. And just sprinkled I didn't mean like different people.
kind of morbid. Yeah. So I kind of didn't want to pause it. Okay, we got one
of the time it became known as Memorial Day.
And originally, only soldiers who had died in the Civil War were honored. After World War one though, the holiday began to encompass members of the American armed forces who had fallen in any conflict. While Memorial Day is a sad and somber day. It is a great day for us to honor and remember those who have fallen fighting for our freedoms.

At the at the top were professional podcasters. Now we've got a road caster. So most of the time, if you go back and listen to episode one or two, they don't even resemble what the current episodes especially after 100 or so episodes. They say. And I gotta agree with this, you really kind
of start hitting your stride around like episode 70. War, we're more than twice that now. Oh, well. I mean, this is 147 148. Yeah. So we're coming up on 150. And everybody who listened in send us $150. Now just kidding. We do. We do the show for us. But if you get any value out of it, consider putting a number on that and dropping us some value in return. Yeah, it's not right. They gotta have companion. I wonder if I've got two in the back of my truck. There's a mouse living in the back of my
truck somewhere. I had some peanuts and
tell my friend about this. And she was like, is it you?
Leila likes rodents. But so Leila is crocheting a rat with a strawberry with holding a strawberry. Yeah, and is going to want to remember a picture in our next episode, or wherever you finish it. And she's gonna give it to her as a gift. So it's it's fun when you're, when you're a content creator, and you get gifts from people.
