Our company is moving from one building to another. And I'm it. So there's a lot a lot going on. At work. So I've been very busy. So I'm getting off work late tonight.
And I call the law and I'm like, What are we doing? What was the subject? She's like soup? And I'm like, Sue? Well, first he calls me and I'm on the bus. Yeah, Bus Driver is yelling at us. Some kid threw up paper. I heard her bus letter bus lighter bus driver yelling through through your phone and you're like, hello. super quiet talk. I don't think they cares. We have our phones on our bus. But like I don't I still want to want to get taken.
Yeah, you don't want to deal with that. That's not something you want to deal with. So yeah, it doesn't make permanent record. On your permanent record, yeah. I think who's gonna care? It's seventh grade permanent record don't exist yet. For stuff like that. So yeah, we're gonna talk about soup. Done. That sounds super exciting. Yo, we do have a super chat. He's Ice Cube soup. Hey,
cube soup. Ice Cube soup is in chat says What? What what like I said, we do the show live on Thursday nights and seven, some Thursday night some. We have too much stuff going on. And we can't can't make it. But yeah, you can go to Fun Fact friday.com. And listen, live. And there's a chat room that you can join and join in the fun. Like, right now we got served on

Also, if you tune in to the live stream before and after the shows I play some awesome music. Yep. All 100% copyright free of course. So we go yeah, totally. We do we do. Take support from monetary means we take PayPal we take. We have a Patreon set up that I set up like forever ago that we've never I don't think we've ever had we've had like
one, maybe one person join up on there. Don't put a lot of work into it. No extra extra stuff. But we did receive some support this week via PayPal, one of our monthly sustaining donors. And it was $5.55 from Vince. You see what I did there? $5.55 from bets. See, see how that worked genius. Yep. I'm a poet, right? Poet and you didn't know didn't know it. So this teacher got mad at me because it didn't like Taylor Swift. But she knew that
I liked poetry. So she was like, how? Because Taylor Swift is basically just a poet. So she told me to read some of the lyrics and they're pretty good. Pretty good. Yeah, good. Sorry. That That was exhilarating. So many emotions. But yeah, we didn't. We didn't receive any Satoshis we we
participate in the podcasting 2.0 value for value system. Were using a modern podcast app from new podcast apps.com If Yeah, If it has a boost button, you can send tiny little bits of Bitcoin called Satoshis to us through the newer apps like fountain or curio caster, or pod verse, and there's more, those are just the three off the top of my head. But yeah, so that was our support section for this week. And we like to do this little thing. Oh, good news. Fun Fact Friday. Oh, no.
Like, yep, that's it. Goodbye, everybody. I know. That's no, that's the worst. What is happening doing calm down? Well, we'll edit it out and post. Welcome to Fun Fact Friday news with your lead anchor Leila, and your co anchor, David. Yes. So what news do you have for us? This week? T Rex, I like to ask if you didn't know. Okay, Dennis was a
really cool hold on my earbuds or Oh, no. Okay. T Rex, have a day of its day lived 340 million years ago with razor sharp teeth and a strange connection to us. But Leila, what's the connection to us? Well, I'm about to tell you. A terrifying predator that lived 340 million years ago had been dubbed the T Rex of its day, named the what cheery adult Hey, had huge razor sharp teeth.
And as well as being one of the first creatures to ever hunt on land had growth patterns rather rather more like humans, reptiles, amphibians, or fish. It had a salamander like body and a long narrow head reaching more than six feet from the nose of the tail. And the new study examining his thigh bone has revealed and unlike modern amphibians, watch area grew very fast. In general, the fascinating creature as the authors put it, blurred the ostensible divide between the
Aqua aquatic and terrestrial adaptations. If you saw what area in real life, it would probably look like a big crocodile shaped salamander with a narrow head and lots of teeth. That's study co author Ben. Oh toe, but it's a T Rex. Yeah. But it looks like a crocodile Salamander. Yeah. Oh, okay. Here UX of its day. It's not a direct. Oh, okay. So it was like the apex predator of its day. Yeah. Okay. I gotcha. I was a little confused. You gotta get that song in my head. Sorry, apex predator song.
It would have spent a lot of its time near bottoms of rivers and lakes, lunging out and eating whatever it liked. You definitely could call this man T Rex of its time. So yeah. You know, we're gonna get a little bit more, you know? Yeah, the little jingle. So my news story. Kind of hits close to home. There are some I've lost the tab. Oh my gosh. Okay, here we go. From positive dot news. Alzheimer's research has a breakthrough. My grandfather had
Alzheimer's. And it's a terrible it's a horrible disease. But Alzheimer's rehearse. Research has had a breakthrough. The hitherto futile search for an Alzheimer's cure took a major step forward this week after a new drug was found to slow the disease lekin Lechem need Mab Locanda Mab Locanda Mab works by clearing the Sir this is a tough paragraph Hold on. Like Canada, the Canada Mab works by clearing the amyloid protein that builds up in the brains of people who have Alzheimer's and a clinical
trial the drug was found to slow cognitive decline. Quote, this is truly a historic moment for dementia research said end quote said Susan, co Helaas, director of research with Alzheimer's research and director of research at Alzheimer's Research UK. That's weird. This is the first time a drug has been shown to both reduce and decrease in the brain and slow memory decline in clinical trials. These exciting findings represent a major step forward for dementia research however,
she added it won't be suitable for everyone. And it's only a first step in the journey towards a cure. But as they say on bowl after bowl, not a good show. It's a step in the right direction after all right. So yeah, my grandfather had Alzheimer's and it's a it's horrible. You lose your memory. We lose a lot of cognitive function. Not fun, but they're working on it. Hopefully. Hopefully it's a it's an it's not in the future. Somewhere with Jasmine Is Kyle
again because I misfired on the Kyle button. I said misfire and Miss Kyle any reason to actually trust this press release? So that's that's kind of the thing on our show. I don't know. We don't know we we put it out there and if we have anything come back that we find that people find is wrong or send us you know anything contrary we'll bring it up on the next show. It's I'm hopeful I'm hopeful because it runs in the family so I don't want to I don't I don't want to get Alzheimer's you
know. So hopefully that they're that they are working towards a cure for that. So hopefully that good news story turns into some some something great. So, so on dinosaurs onto soup. Soup. So what is the difference? Between soup stew bisque and Chowder? Already googling it. Look it up Leila soup between soup soup stew, bisque. chowder? fo our flock for how we pronounce it? Well, you know what? I already Googled it. Why didn't Google it? I've researched it. And I already have an answer.
Types of soups do bisque chowder? Soup is the overall term that describe dishes coming from solids boiled and liquid. This all is meat vegetables, rice pasta, my classification. Okay, so yeah, just out of your brain, not from my brain. Okay, I need to look up with biscuits because I haven't heard of it. But let me this. Wha Okay, okay, okay. So, okay, now I have a like a good idea. Okay, so what's your what's your just out of your brain? What do you think is the what is the soup and abyss?
Soup do a soup is something that does not have chunks in it? And is just the soup? So chicken noodle soup is not soup? So it's like broth? No. Okay, I consider that a soup. But it's called soup because it's, it's okay. Well, soup is kind of like the the overall term. So what I stew is soup with chunks in it with like vegetable chunks or meat chunks. This is a fancy stew. And then chowder has clams. But what about like if there's like a chicken and corn chowder that
has got some weird ingredient and chowder powder. For me. A soup is more runny. It can have stuff in it like chicken noodle soup is soup, but it's thinner. For me a stew is like a thicker broth. And has a I don't know has like real big chunks of stuff. And that's a stew like big old pieces of meat or potato or carrot or whatever. Or whatever it is. And then a bisque I've always learned that a bisque was pretty much there's there's nothing then it's just like tomato and seasonings.
Tomato sauce and seasonings or, or something like that. And, and then a bisque I've always heard is like served cold, but it doesn't apparently doesn't have to be and then you start getting into stuff like, like, wall. Like so. Like fo I believe it's pronounced wall. Like what it was it was it? I don't know. It's like it just looks like really spelled p h o fo so but it's pronounced in real life, kind of like it's not croissant. is Hong Kong. Cool. So right. Now, okay. It's pronounced wha for
pronunciation book. So to do it right, it just says fun. Let's see. Okay, 33 minute video. Second, Vietnamese dish. This is a soup consisting of broth, rice, noodles, herbs and meat sometimes chicken. This is a very popular street food in Vietnam. We are looking at how to pronounce in Vietnamese for fun. So it's just our All right. Oh, has a little room. Got a little tail. And it's got a little question mark over its head or something.
Yeah, it's a huge question mark. Like it's opening its mouth so it's got something on the lip. So Though IceCube soup says for involves dripping, dripping, dripping, dripping meat in liquid. Okay, so yeah, I've seen that seem like, like really good looking steak, and they dip it in the fall. And it looks good. It looks really good. Just got to be pronounced fo though. No, I'm gonna get this because it's not from here. Okay, speaking of not from here is ramen soup?
No, because it got noodles, ramen. It's like spaghetti, spaghetti, but you're gonna have it without the without the water. We can't. I mean, it's gonna have water in the noodles and let's get you to dry like I used to in high school. I just I'd sprinkle the toppings. Just kind of shake it a little bit. Not in crunchy. I ate it like it was a candy bar. You got to crunch it out before you in Vancouver, there's far parking in the rear. I don't know. All right.
So that man, so ramen, there's a site called Apex s k.com. And they talk about is Ramana soup. And basically they say that No. Ramen is not a noodle or a soup. But it's its own category. Yeah, that's what I said. It's It's its own thing. Yeah, it's its own thing. Yeah. I agree. It's on top. That's what I said. Definitely. So ramen cannot cannot exist without one of the two components being broth. And noodles. So it's not a soup. It's not noodles.
I usually don't make it the traditional way I have, but it's not it's not as fun as using a little package. Snowflake ramen. Broth is essentially the soul of the ramen. This is reason number one, the soup sets the overall ambience of ramen. You're about to enjoy. Have you ever noticed how soup is unique and different in each restaurant? Okay, so speaking of soup, we're talking about soup before we started the show. And you asked what my favorite soup is. This is not an
advertisement. But our bag has this soup. It's called cheesy onion soup. Oh my goodness. I like two different soups and it depends on what mood I'm in. Okay, but in most all the time, like both of them. So it doesn't really depend on what mood I'm in. I just said that because it's fun. I like the chicken and dumpling soup. From some company I look it up while I'm saying the other one. But I like miso soup of all kinds. But chicken and dumpling soup. I know it's not Campbell's. But it's some.
Okay, so there's some clarification. Ice Cube soup said that there is a the the fall parking and rear or no servo said there's a full parking and rear that it's like one of those places that doesn't really care about the name of the restaurant. So just full. Just pH Oh, but then underneath it it says parking and rear. So like the name of the restaurant you could say is Oh my gosh, that's fine. Okay, so here's what you're searching for the soup that you like is cereal soup.
No, that's just one thing. So why isn't cereal soup? Because this is one thing it has milk in it. So well. Well. No. Are we calendars chicken and dumpling soup is the best ever. It's pretty good. It's pretty good. Love you a few weeks ago. Oh my gosh. Tea is leaf. Coffee. Coffee is Black Bean Soup. Just you know, strained tears tea. Yeah, I know. You could say that. No, but you can say let's leave water. You are boiling solids in a liquid
water. But it's a leafy but you're boiling salt water through a leaf boiling solids and liquids so they'll leave in a water. No. So I guess that's what cereal isn't soup because you're not going to sugar in it. You can boil you can boil cereal. You could boil seal your wood. What? You could boil cereal, but it wouldn't taste very good. That's supposed to be eaten so it's not a soup
IceCube soup which I think we have to take anything. IceCube soup says definitive knowledge about soup because of ice cube soup says no tea and coffee are brews or possibly infusions maybe I want to stream on Twitch one day in get all our listeners to join and I want to draw what I think they look like. From what they say the names that are just stuff that they say. Oh man, that can be funny. Really funny. Yeah, cuz you've got your you got your tablet, my tablet right here and I have
some paper. Yeah, we could send that straight to the stream your tablet screen. A lot of heart twitches. But yeah, so basically ramen is its own thing. Because you gotta have you gotta have all the parts, you know, and then in Japan, it is definitely its own thing. Oh, yeah. And see ramen, I never put anything in my ramen, except for what came in the packet until I was
probably in my early 20s. And then I learned about, you know, adding chicken or, you know, green onion or things like that, and turning it into like a full on soup. My favorite thing to do is take either the chicken or the beef ramen. And I pour it while I'm boiling the ramen. It takes like 30 minutes. So I just take the bowl, put some water in it, put the seating packet in it, I put some of the barbecue stuff that you put on your chicken in it, even though it looks kind of
it's kind of weird. And then I put some pepper and as a splash of soy sauce. I put some really good and wholesome screaming ends Serrano's in there. He likes around. I like green. I like Serrano's Yeah, green onions gotta have a green onions if you're doing a really good bowl. Yeah, that's good stuff. Let's do drawings to be very funny. I agree. Yeah. No, you're not you keep moving away from it and move it more towards Hey, go. Now I can like do this. But I can still
talk. We need to get you a boom arm. Now so the mic can be out of your way. So you can still see your screen better. Now because here's an annoying yet mine's annoying because I got a super cheap one. It's because you always have it directly out. So every time I try and get into my computer, it smacks me. Yeah, our computer desks are next to each other. And when I pivoted away from myself, it goes into her area, we both are on the same wall. So our desks kind of connect with a
little table. And his boom arm is on the side of the table. So it'll just sit there. Yeah, you need to you need one too. You want to like curl up for Christmas. Also, you have a drawing tablet? Well, I guess I do to ever use it. I use it sometime use it sometimes. But no. Yeah, we want to get the Twitch channel rolling again. Yes, I'll see if I can remember the password. Reset it if I can't. We may have been kicked out of it. Because if you don't if you don't stream or do anything with it for a
long time you get locked out. I may have to like reactivate it or something. I'll dig into it. I'll look into it. Because we've had a lot of people talking about they'd like to see our post show process. Yes. And you know, hang out with us when we're doing stuff. We can play some Mario Kart. Oh my gosh, I will get you I would just yeah, I'd win every single time long as your mom was not playing. When I'm sorry, why don't you read me some facts about soup.
The earliest archaeological evidence for the consumption of soup dates back to 6000 BC. And it was hippopotamus soup. 6000 BC. Well, I would imagine if eponymous would be really tough. 1000 years ago, boil it. Boil it? If you want to make me Kelly tender. You know that though? I don't know this is just me speculating. Or how good people know that. They're just really like soft. It may be if it's like softer than chicken hippopotamus meat might be like super tender and juicy. I have
no idea. Probably just kind of going by like what their skin is. Salt thick just looks thick. Right? So yeah, what's, what's your number two there. A number two here. soups are classified into two groups. Clear soups and thick soups. See, I think the thick soups are more of a stew but go ahead. That's it. That's the only that's the only word. No, no, I'm looking at that. Okay, fix it. Best soup recipes. I don't want recipes. Well, I would think like tomato soup would be considered a thick soup.
There's three types of soups. We got purees we got volutes falu Taize creams bisques and chatters. All right and then we'll do clear soups clear super clear soup is able to clear soup broth or Bojan soy broth. Clearly, bras come in a variety of flavors including chicken, turkey, beef, vegetable and mushroom biryani. Come in powder form stock cubes. Yeah. Yeah, we used to get the bouillon cubes and put it in
rice. Like, drop droppable Well young Cuban the water that you're about to cook some rice was the only thing I knew how to cook while you were four. I know. And he taught me how to make fried rice for bouillon cubes. Yeah, that's the only thing I was good at. That's flavor and then and then your mom was like I just like rice regular. So we'd make two. I have flavored and boring. I always got the flavor because I wasn't boring.
I found our waffle. I found our walk by the way. So some fried rice go into. We need to clean the rest before we do it. Of course. Yes, IceCube super hippo. Hippopotamus and hippopotami are very dangerous. I never thought they were until I was an adult because like, the Disney cartoons and stuff make them out. Like they're like ballet dancing and stuff in the Fantasia. So like, that was the idea of what a hippopotamus was to me. And then, you know, you see videos on the nature shows
of the hippopotami not being nice. And dancing and ballet outfits. I'm afraid of manatees because you're afraid of manatees because of VeggieTales. Yes. Hold on. Let me find my bring it down some HIPAA, HIPAA. Oh, you already found Okay, hold on. What are we doing? I was just using my Bluetooth. Oh gosh, okay, I pulled it down. So it won't be super loud. Audio render error. Please restart your computer. That's not good. That's not gonna restart my computer loser.
Don't worry. Don't worry about it. So I'm trying to find it. But that's that was one of the things I want to say Joe Rogan said it he's like we we have all of these cartoons and TV shows where these wild dangerous animals are very nice and friendly. And then that's a problem because if somebody goes out in nature and they think oh, look at the bottom as they think it's like a just a big cow. But they're the closing force of their mouths are like ridiculous, like snap a tree in
half or whatever. Don't fact check me on that. But they're extremely dangerous. Yes, sir. Servo says in chat Hungry Hungry Hippos is another example. You know, it's like the cute things are just eating you know. And it's not good. Seeing videos of like bears coming in and people that oh, look at the cute bear little teddy bear. And and you know, that stuff happens, Johnny? Well, it might be copyrighted. Nevermind. But there's this one scene of VeggieTales Her name is Barbara
manatee. Okay. And apparently she was so scary to me as a kid that I was terrified a complex manatees, like you're afraid of mannequins now super afraid of vanities still. Now like I afraid of some animals fear. Deer is reasonable because of my experiences with deer. But I don't know where manatees came from. I just remember it. Yeah, just like I was afraid to truck drivers forever because a Pee Wee's Big Adventure. It's because he was dancing with his manatee toy. And I guess
since it looks so weird. I was like, This is terrifying. For some reason, I had no idea you were afraid of mannequin. I can use this. I used to be way more afraid of them than I am. Oh, man, this deer annoying. Yes, I agree. Oh, well. So mainly because I almost got ran over by when Why are you still playing? I don't want to listen to Mary Barra manatee again. Back to the
soup. Soup. Yes. I'm not talking about me anymore. Okay. Soups can be consumed hot or cold depending on the climate of the region where it's being served and flavors can be sweet or savory. Pretty much anything climate got to do with it. Whether like I make chili in the middle of the summer, people are like good chilies a winter food like now. Chili's anytime food. I wish I could react to messages and on hex chat. Like you can on Discord.
What do you mean react to like put an emoji or put an emoji bullet emojis working in chat apps? Well, yeah, but you can't like reply to it. Well, yeah. But yeah, I have to I have to show you how to work IRC fine. Americans eat more than 10 billion bowls of soup each year. That's pretty good. Yeah. How do I get 25? Carmel already. All right.
So in the chat room, if you type in a username and then put plus plus after it, it gives you a Karma point, which is basically like respect, I guess, internet points. So it's a it's a fun thing, but I got 25 of them. That's pretty cool. Now Ice. The most popular soup variety in the US is chicken noodle. I believe that I believe that too, because it's pretty popular. The condensed soup was invented by Dr. John T Dorrance. That sounds like a rapper name.
A chemist with the Campbell Soup Company in 1977 1997 1990 7980 97. Okay, thank you. Because I remember having condensed soup when I was a kid, I was like, hold on, hold up. When do you know what condensed soup is? No. Okay. So basically, it's, it's a small can of soup. And you add water to it. So like you don't eat it right out of the can. I mean, you can there's, you're able to do that. I love this video, but you want to mix it. Typically, it's like you pour the can into the pot to boil it.
And then one cans worth of water. Or two, depending on how condensed it is. Ice Cube soup in chat sent a video of that manatee squat video where the manatee bumps up against the glass. And this is one of the only reasons we can put it in the show notes. Yeah. Okay. I can also put the VeggieTales thing in those arenas. So yeah, there's a manatee going towards an aquarium towards the glass and squishes. It's cute. Yeah. But then the show notes. So I'm
trying to stall it. But I don't have any more material to read. This is what we do. Or filling dead air. We just talk about whatever. When did foods including soup go into the canning process? Nutrients are locked in. So the amount of vitamins and nutrients in the soup is the same on the day. It was canned as it is the year of the can't what? Hold on. I didn't read that. Right. I don't think it was registered. Same day, it was canned as it is a year from the canning date.
So a year later tastes the same. Okay, the nutrients are there. Yeah, it's like they say the best vegetables to buy in the grocery store not like I mean, if you have a garden or a friend who has a garden or a farmer center, farmers market, those are really great, because they're right out of the ground, you know, but um, frozen is the next best. Because they freeze
them at the peak of ripeness. They like flash freezing. So nutrient wise, frozen vegetables are sometimes even better than the fresh in the produce section, depending on if they're local or not. Because what farmers will do, if they're shipping the product across the country, is I'll actually pick it before it's fully ripe. And it kind of ripens up on the way to where it's going. But without adding any any any more nutrients from the soil. So it's kind of just like ripening in
the truck. That's what I heard. I don't I don't have a source for that. But I read that at some point when I was looking at like nutrition and stuff for canned vegetables, frozen vegetables, all that kind of stuff. Okay, well, that's all I got. I saw you got all you got. We're talking about. Oh, yeah, we're talking about nutrient wise, but they're still taste frozen. Yes. That's true. Like especially like broccoli. Right? Who I love. I love going to the grocery store and getting some
nice good looking broccoli from the produce section. Take it home and getting just the leg a little bit of butter, a little bit of salt. Cooking in a skillet are real high heat to green it up real good, but it's still kind of crispy. And you can't do that with frozen broccoli. You know, because it always kind of soggy. Because the moisture content in it. I like the broccoli that they serve at school like that. That watery rock.
Oh, no. The Rock doesn't put the cheese on but they don't because the cheese is stale. Oh, my friend got some black mold and her banana yesterday at lunch at lunch. Oh no. Like she opened it up and it was hard inside. Did she get another one's funny? No, she couldn't because they can't go back into the thing. After you're done getting your food. They just don't care. Well, I mean, you know, she gotta do something right. So I get a banana even though I can't have
them because I'm allergic. They make my throat itchy. So I just give my banana to anyone that wants it. Yeah, remember, I also get milk for other people. Yeah, I used to get I used to get milk from people who didn't drink milk. And in high school, I'd have like three extra milks. The milk looks so gross. And I'll tell you a high school taught me always smell your milk before
you drink it. Oh yeah. And to this day, I still no matter When I bought it, how fresh it's supposed to be, if I open up a milk to have a drink or make cereal or put it in my coffee, which I don't do often. I take take a big smell of that before I drink it because very bad experience.
I'm lactose intolerant, and I'm allergic to bananas. So when we have a day where we have like a cheeseburger, a banana and some milk, I'll just give the cheeseburger or I'll give the banana in the milk to someone else. Oh, yeah. But you can eat the cheeseburger eggs. It's only got a little cheese, chemicals. And cheese. The cheese is made of chemicals. Instead of lactose. Oh, orange juice. Two. I have stories. I have to shake my orange juice. i Okay. I don't think
I've ever had bad orange juice. No. I said to the Pope, maybe it's because I drink when we buy orange juice. It is gone. Yeah, I am one of those things I can't control myself around. I just drink the whole bottle. We also have free breakfast at our school, at least for this year. They're going to change that next year. But they have like french toast and some like either orange juice, apple juice or a fruit juice blend. And the fruit juice blend just tastes
like raspberries. And I don't really like that. But Apple Juice is kind of decent, but when they have orange juice, oh my goodness, I always go for the orange juice and I make my friend get an orange juice too because I want it the few times I had breakfast at school. There was the best sausage biscuit when they would have that. Like they would burn the biscuits. And it was perfect. They were so crunchy on the outside. I don't like the sausage biscuits because the biscuits tastes like
nothing. But I like the sausage with the pancakes on him. Like we had the pancakes off his pancake thing. Right. And then the sausage around it. Yeah, the breakfast corndogs breakfast for dogs. Those are good. All right, well, we're just getting into food talk now. So of course the whole episodes about soup, which isn't a food or a drink food. It's a food the food. You eat it even even if it's just the liquid. Yup. All right. If you eat it with the Dr. Pepper can be soup.
I always I always like to dip crackers in my soup. It doesn't matter what kind of soup it is. I did the crackers in it. Unless it is chili soup. Or is it its own thing. So I really see it as a kind of a stew. Chili is its own thing. Chili's its own thing. Yeah. I found that I like to eat chili with ruffles. That's a good combo. Just plain ruffles. Not flavored ones or anything. I like the chips when I call tortilla chips. Yeah, tortilla
taekwondo teacher. Yeah, that's pretty good. Good with jelly. I can't have anything else on my jelly. It has to be that thickness. Anything above that thickness. I can't eat.
