Hello, and welcome to Fun Fact Friday. I'm your host David. And I'm Leila. Leila is my daughter. Yeah, he's my dad. We did it backwards. Fun Fact, Friday is a weekly show where we discuss fun facts and difference around different topics each week from different sources that he was trying to say from different sources all over the internet. And you know, if it's on the internet, it's got to be true. Or as we like to say, around these parts. It's factual because someone put it on a computer. Yeah.
I love that. It's so good. So Leila, what are we talking about? On this episode? We're talking about the Queen. The Queen like the band. Sure. The Bohemian Rhapsody and don't stop me now. And no, no, no, no. Are we talking about the Queen of England? Yeah, God rest her soul. Yeah. So the news came out today that the Queen of England has passed. But I thought, well, impossible. She's been around a long time. She's 96 years old.
And she has been raining for 70 years. 70 years. Is that the proper term? Raining, raining? Sure. She has a cloud. So um, yeah, I've heard the news while I was at work today. My wife who's a big, big royal, Royal Family. Watcher. I don't know what you call a fan. Not meant so much a fan of them. But just like how it all all of it works. We did a we did an episode on royalty. Like, it was like episode two or three?
I think so. No, it was like three here. It was really, really early in the shows shows Ron is actually not even on the RSS feed anymore. You have to go to FunFactFriday.com to listen to it. But um, yeah, so before we get started, you've already said one fact. Before we got started. Oh, yeah. And I did too. So it's okay. We did get a donation. via PayPal. Oh, who did it? Steven Grimes. Steven Grimes monthly $10 donation came in. Thank you so much, Steven Grimes. I need to go through. He
has I need to go and look up how much everybody's given. And I got started. We got to start making some swag to send out for all of our people make some rad swag. So let us know if you're a supporter of the show. T shirts, stickers. keychains. What kind of what kind of stuff would you like? Mugs mugs? What kind of stuff would you would you like to receive as a thank you for being supporters for so long? Forks, forks or spoons? Coffee
Coffee spoons that you can put in the freezer. Like we're wanting to like hook so you can hang it on one of the little things in the freezer. Yeah, well, you just put in the freezer, or it could have a magnet. What? We can make some spoons of magnets and um, so it'll stick to the side of the freezer. That's not how it works. What one side? No, I think it would work. No experiment time.
All right. Well. Yeah, we would we do this show live on Thursday nights typically are between we're aiming for like, seven 715 to 630 was just too early for us. We'd get home, eat something and John had to jump right into it. And even seven was kind of early for us tonight because we have a lot of stuff going on. And I am riding the bus now. So I don't know if my bus driver will be there like five o'clock. Yes, she gets get home till 630 she when she gets home kind of.
I get home at like forfeit 445 now, because I'm kind of at the end of the bus stop. And our bus is always the last to be called. Speaking of which my boss was allowed to be called. So while we were walking out of the room, all the teachers were walking out. And my teacher, my history teacher. It's her birthday today his her 50th birthday, happy birthday. And she was like, No, the Queen died on my birthday. And I was like, what? Yeah, I was like, hold on. I was like, I was it didn't. I was so
flabbergasted man. I told everyone on that bus and they were all just like, what? So they had to look it up. And then I showed everybody and they were like, what? It's like that's not true. Yeah, I mean, she's been, we might hear a loud pewter. It's like let me turn my audio down. Yeah, she's just been around forever. I mean, I was born in 82. she'd already been raining for you know 30 years. Or in office it's not really office. Oh, no. Oh, there's a few. So we got a 1000 sat boost for me. I
was testing something. And you a 100 sat boost from Baroness love and light. Oh, thank you. Thank you. Thank you for coming a weekly thing. That's awesome. Appreciate that. So I just want to make sure I got those boosts in. Nice. Just want to turn the volume back up so I can do these these amazing sound drops. So yeah, so I did I that professional podcasters I haven't really followed the royal family much. But mount. Like I said, my wife's really into it. And she, I find the
secession stuff. Really interesting. Like, how if, if like, You're the king, right? Your firstborn son will get it next. Right? If he has a son, then he would get it next firstborn son. But there's a brother. So like, if the firstborn son doesn't want it or passes away. The brother wouldn't get it. So the second born son of the king wouldn't get to be king, if the firstborn son had a son. So it's like, that's not fair. My opinion. That's just as just me. But
yeah, I find that sort of stuff. Interesting, either, but we have watched a few things on them in history class. And before we get started, let's do some good news. Oh, okay. You do first. Bam, bam, bam. Welcome to Fun Fact Friday news with your lead anchor David and secondary anchor Leila. So I found the story. I heard about it on another podcast actually and I it's slipping my mind which when I heard it on, you know who you are, there was a cursed tablet was found.
Okay, everything is gonna start falling apart now that Queen Elizabeth is dead. Because this has been a wreck for the last two years. And we're just, we're getting started. We're just getting started, man. We're just getting rolling. No, it all started with a rhombus. But Crombie know that the gorilla anyway, we'll talk about that later. So they found a cursed lead tablet in Israel, which is the oldest note has the oldest known Hebrew text on it. Which is pretty interesting.
I don't know what to what to think. So it's a tablet containing the word. The words of an ancient Hebrew curse predating the Dead Sea Scrolls and has uncovered and translated it was uncovered and translated by an archaeologist from Katty Kay, a tea why the discovery announced on Thursday which is back in March, actually, Thursday could be proof that the Bible is hundreds of years older than
scholars previously thought. Dr. Scott stripling striping stripling, director of the archaeological Studies Institute at the Bible seminary and Katie led the team that discovered the small folded led tablet on Mount and ball EBA L in Israel. It reads, cursed cursed cursed. Cursed by the God, Yahweh. You will die cursed. Cursed you will surely die. cursed by Yahweh cursed cursed cursed. Wow. So it's got a lot a lot of Cursed on it. Do you think first?
I don't know. It's been. It's been that long. So. Okay, so what's happening with the sounds? Yeah. Is that since you're hooked up via Bluetooth, is it just coming late? It Yeah, well, if you don't play anything for a while, yeah, it puts the connection into like low power mode. We will have to get you like a sub audible home to play constantly underneath. So we can keep it keep it up and running. You know, I mean, we'll figure it out. So they're saying that this is
is it cursed? It's it says it says cursed or how many times 36 This is about something they're aiming at 3600 years old. Oh, it's a memory 636 cursed. The Discover the tablet discovered by stripling, his team was written about 1500 BC, which will be proved that the Hebrews were writing in the same style of stylistic and linguistic manner in which the Bible was written. So it's pretty neat. Accursed tablet, you know, talking about being cursed. Cursed, cursed. Cursed.
Yep. So that's my little story. What you got? I don't really have one. But the Don't hug me. I'm scared is coming out on the 15th Yeah. 1212 it's a it's a TV show, right? It's full, full length TV show. Is it gonna be another short? It's gonna be another episode on Channel Four. I don't know. How long have you seen for? No. That's a news channel. BBC five. No, BBC six. BBC seven. BBC have then Channel Four is a British Broadcasting Company thing. It's in Britain. Yeah,
it's because they're British. Speaking of Britain. Queen, the queen. Do you know? Hope? The news is over. Did you know The news is over. So did you know so did you know that the Queen wears the ultra bright colors? Know that? Like, lime green or bright pink? Do you know why she wears? So you know? No. Just the mood season. Hugo Vickers, the Queen's biographer told in the New York Times, you have to be able to see that figure in a lemon coat
and hat from far away. Because she doesn't get close to the public a lot. So when she comes out, and she's wearing her signature bright outfits, people like There's yours because you can see or you can pick her out in a crowd. You know? Yeah, so that was kind of the that's, that's really cool. The reason for that? We gotta get ourselves out of my thing. I'm only 12 Right now we may have we may have a few repeats from that episode two, or episode three. But it's fine. It was a while ago.
Yeah, it was like, we're recording episode two and then One eternity later, Episode 117. I'm doing what the dog doing? Oh, do it. Alright, so she uses her purse, or I guess used now sadly. To send signals to her staff. her handbag is more than often. Not the main communication tool she uses to reach her staff. So if she's got her, her handbag on her left hand, that means one thing on her left foot, setting it down
by her left foot. She's signaling to her staff certain things like Alright, time to go or you know, yeah. I think that's pretty cool. Yeah, it's a neat little looks like a baseball game when the guys like touching the brim of his cap. Or we wanted to get mom on this episode because she knows a lot about the royal family. She she don't want to be but she doesn't. She doesn't want to be on. We're like, okay. And she's all nobody got time for that. So yeah, she's cleaning the kitchen.
She's listening though. And she's in the chat. So who? Yeah, having having a good time over here? Let me let me pull up and chat actually watching it. Good. She was born at 2:40am on the 24th for 21st of April 1926 26. Yeah. 96 years ago. I thought was old. Yeah. To know what you gotta you gotta. That's a good run. That is if I get the 96 I'll be like, Yeah, that's a good run. Ah, me personally. No. One. No, I'm good. You don't want to go to 96? No. Like, you're gonna like 80 Oh, no. Maybe?
I don't. I personally don't want to get so old. That I'm just sitting there. You know, you don't want to go to a retirement home. Exactly. Oh, no. Retirement Home might be fun, play shuffleboard and depending on how early you get in there, and what kind of healthier cushions you can play pranks on all the folks in the in the retirement Um, that are, you know, starting to lose their hearing a little bit so you can
cheat. I would love to have seat cushions I can make myself which seat cushion but they wouldn't mind. One a seat cushion for what? School? Because the seats are stiff. Oh, are you? Are you Oh, last year though we got to like the kindergarten chairs last year. Do you need a little soup? Because the cushions because the chairs too hard? Yeah. You also can't rock in them because they're like shaped like a seat. Yeah, in the back is out the front. So you can't really like roll back in them.
Yeah, you can't lean back and you'll just fall fall down. Someone dropped her chair on the floor above us today. And it was really funny. So she's the she was the only person in Britain who could drive without a license plate on her car. Yep. She also never needs a passport when traveling around the world. And, and, and I'll have to find a source on this. But basically, she can't do anything illegal. Because anything that she does is deemed
as illegal because she did it. What, but only for her. Whoever the reigning monarch is. Wow. So that's all right. All right. Have to find the source on that one. Because I don't remember where I heard it. And I don't know. So yeah, I'll have to look that one up. Let me write that down while you read some facts. She was the longest reigning monarch in Britain. Yep. She beat Queen Victoria. It was like a competition. Yeah. She actually saw it as a competition to outlive these. And then she
did. Good for her. Yeah. Who's the next? Next one? Well, we don't know. Because now it's King Charles, which is her son. Yeah, I know who that is. He looks like it looks like King Charles. Yeah. And he, beneath him will be Prince William. He would be next in line. And then Prince William's firstborn son would be next next in life is the queen. There's no girls. Okay, so Okay, so Charles has Camilla, I think is her name. Oh, yeah. She's the queen. America Queen emeritus or queen?
Something. Hold on. I just read it today. It's not a Queen Consort. Um, yeah. So she's the queen. But she's not like a ruler. She's a queen because she's married to the king. Queen Consort, a Queen Consort is a wife of a reigning king or an emperor is consort. In the case of an emperor. A Queen Consort usually shares her spouse's social rank and status. She holds the feminine equivalent of the kings monarch titles, and is
crowned and anointed. But historically. Yeah, so basically, since he's the king, if if they just said she's the queen, then that would mean that she was part of the ruling, you know, but she's just the wife of the king. Yeah, so she's the Queen Consort. So I just want to say how funny Gastonia graphic kids is. What's funny about National Geographic Kids. The comments are all from kids. So they obviously had to put like a little, little comment like thing on it. So all of the
comments. Let's say they're lol can't wait. Cool. Cool. Let's take action. Cool. Let's take action. Can't wait. Can't wait. Can't wait. It Lo Lo que la la Well, wow, cool. Well, no. Okay, so hold on. If you go to make a comment, it probably only gives you certain options. Yeah. And that makes sense on a kid site. Yeah. So somebody can't come in and just write inappropriate things. Yeah. If you at the bottom are written because I think they only put it
Oh, okay. So I guess you can write on there. I wonder if you can write inappropriate things. I don't know. I know there was a game on Super Nintendo called unit racers. And if you wrote If you named your your unit racer, unicycle bikes as anything
inappropriate, it would say names not cool enough. That's a good that's a good way since it was Nintendo and Nintendo and Sega used to be rivals kind of like Xbox and PlayStation are now and if you named your unicycle Sega or Sonic it would say not cool enough funny just a slight little dig it you know? So I just recently got bow rocks little what bow rock soul what is that bow rocks will bow rocks will explain you're not Oh, Roblox
Yes. Oh, rock soul, I think is funnier. And if you even do like a little keyboard smash like a little half of it, we'll hash it. It'll like tag it to where you can't send it. Oh, yeah, there. It's very strict. Well, Roblox, I believe has a history of their their chat getting very vulgar. Yeah. And a lot of parents complained because they let their kids play it. Because it looks like it's very much a kids game. Not because you can't play it as
another kid. But, you know, I was even telling my friend about how he's gonna get Roblox robux soon. And you can't even type get robux it hashes your entire sentence. Wow. Because people will scam kids. People try and scam kids for their parents money. So you can't talk about the currency of the game in the game No. So well. Anyways, back to Queen Elizabeth as queen. She was served by 15 UK Prime Ministers, including Winston Churchill, Margaret
Thatcher, and more recently, Boris Johnson. Boris Johnson looks like such a funny man. I believe he's resigning. Boris. I believe I read that today. That he's going to resign. But you you like the Boris Johnson memes. So funny. She said them's the brakes. He's, he does look kind of funny. Have you seen the video with him and the umbrella? Maybe? Oh my gosh, I will. I'm gonna write that down umbrella. The I'll have it in the show notes. YouTube umbrella. So he was at a I believe he was at a
funeral. Which is sad. Yeah. And it was raining. It had just started raining and he was trying to get his umbrella open. And it looked like like a three stooges sketch. Like the umbrella wouldn't open and he was trying to get it open. It was like, and then he finally got it open and it flipped upside down. You know, umbrella will go too far. And then he's trying to put it down. Oh my gosh, it was so funny. Oh, it'll be in the show notes, folks. It's definitely worth a watch.
It'll be probably a YouTube link. So Queen Elizabeth. Oh, you already read that one. Yeah. So speaking of. No, I'm on I'm on. Count and country. Town and Country. I'm trying to do your switch the first letters thing and I'm not very good. There have been six Roman Catholic Pope's during Queen Elizabeth's reign. Pius the seventh though the 12. John the 23rd. Paul the sixth. John Paul. The first John Paul the second and Benedict the 16th. Oh, cucumber.
No, not Doctor Strange. Me Benadryl. Benadryl cucumber. Yeah, yeah. was a big plane a plane or helicopters. Very we did very bassy. We heard it in our bodies. We felt it. That's what it's called. We heard it in our bodies. Right. So so I've been typing this whole episode. Could you tell now what do you got? I got a new keyboard. He has been waiting for this keyboard for like a month. I've been debating on it. It is a Logitech MX keys. Many of the
keys feel so good, the type of plastic that they used. And it's got just the right amount of travel. And they're very lightly illuminated. It's kind of quick switch between three devices. And I'm very happy with it. This is not an ad we don't do ads here. If it stops being good, I will definitely let you know. So now, Queen Elizabeth, the second head tuber Phase What? What? When we
what doesn't explain it? It says her actual. Okay, so it says Okay, number seven, Queen Elizabeth the Second had two birthdays her actual birthday the 21st of April and her official birthday, which was held on Saturday in June. A Saturday in June. When does what was Saturday in June when the weather's but What? What? Okay, correct. Okay. Read it again
read it again without saying anything. Okay, number seven, Queen Elizabeth the Second had two birthdays her actual birthday, which is the 21st of April and her official birthday, which was held on a Saturday in June when the weather's better. What? What, what? So bad gash. So she was actually born on April 21. Yeah, but they were just like, they were just like, No, we're just gonna say it's and we're just gonna not say that because the weather's not
very good. Alright, so I want to look into this. I'm very interested in this. Okay. I'm gonna look it up two birthdays thing. Queen Elizabeth and her two days. All right. Yes, April 21. April 20 of our database. Why does she have two birthdays? The queen? Okay. Okay, it is the queen things birthday on Thursday 21st of April but she also has another one later in the year. The Queen has two birthdays her
real one. She was born on April 21 1926. And then the second one, the official celebration on the second Saturday of June. What mine says Thursday that of the two Jun Thursday. Second. There's the second one. This is really confusing. This article is independent.co.uk It's okay. However her official birthday will take place on Thursday to June this year. So I guess it's Thursday, the second of June but they didn't put second so it confused me or they didn't feel like
dashes right. Well, it's the second the second Saturday and you know Yeah, but it's so you're on a badly written badly written you're on the independent take place on two June to coincide. I think they just pick their favorite day in June and have the birthday party. Probably they're probably just right. Okay. I saw something about Saturday Trooping the color will go ahead in its traditional form in London on Thursday to June instead of Saturday. 11 June, which is the date of the Queen's
official birthday. Okay. I guess it's because of COVID Because the thing before that said last year, the event took place in Windsor instead of London, and was not attended by many members because the royal family due to Coronavirus pandemic. So, gotcha. I don't know. It just sounds like they just pick a day in June and have a party for Yeah. royal party, royal party. When the Queen was gifted, is gifted a rare animal she donates
them to the London Zoo. She has been given a number of interesting animals such as elephants to tortoises, a Jaguar and a pair of beavers. Yeah. She also has an elephant and a sloth. I think I think Obama gave her an iPod. Oh my gosh, Obama is the funniest president he should have gave her a Zune. Have you seen Obama's speaks.com? I have her Obama talks here. Let me see Obama talks. I think it's Obama talks. Talk to me, Obama. Talk Obama. Let's see. Fun fact. Fun Fact.
Friday is the best podcast pod cast and the universe. Oh, John Adam are gonna get upset. They are they are. But Obama's saying it not us. But Fun Fact Friday with Leila and David. With Leila, you might want to do you might want to do l e. L A to make it safe. Yeah. Yeah, it's probably gonna that's probably a good idea. L E. E. Yeah, try that. Have it is the best podcast. Okay hold
on, it's processed. Okay. It takes it takes a second processing processing alright we don't watch your videos being processed this page will refresh on my Fun Fact Friday with Leon David is the best in the worst that's terrible. Yeah. Fun Fact Friday with Liam. David is the best in the film isn't never said podcast or universe before,
which is interesting because he has a podcast. I don't think he ever said it when he was in office though they probably only have an office Wednesday because those are copyright free. So this is called Talk obama.me. If you want to look at it, it's very surely the tab open show notes. It's really fun to play around with. Make Obama say stuff. All right, what else we got, sir has two giant turtles, Jaguar pair of slots and elephant. Yeah, I think you said some of those.
But he didn't say the elephant. Queen of England is on the is she is the face of Australian currency. And she's been to Australia 16 times 16 I think is still considered part of the Empire. I have to look into that before I say it is a fact. But uh, but you know, she published an Instagram post in 2019. Excuse you Instagram is the worst. Is that why? It was funny. It's funny, because it's the queen. It's like Obama. All right. Have you seen Obama saying Thanks, Obama?
Yeah. Yeah, he did. More probably one of the the press things that I used to do where they all joke around a lot with each other. It's part of the part of this. The whole just have a night where they can all joke around. Yeah. Cookie doesn't fit in the milk. And he's like, Thanks, Obama. She hosts an average of 50,000 people every year at receptions, banquets, lunches, dinners and Garden Parties at Buckingham Palace. Oh, 50,000 party guests. Well, that's, I mean, that's a
year so you spread it out. But you know. Oh, she speaks fluent French. Oh, that's, that's pretty good. I didn't know that. I mean, it makes sense because she's, you know, loyalty. Yeah. She's got a lot of time. Probably before she got Royal. While she's she's been royal all her life. But before she became the Queen Elizabeth became a homeowner at just six years old. I should become a homeowner. I want to own a house. Well, not right now. You don't price to ridiculous
when the people of Wales gifted her a house? I guess. She could put the RV in your name. Yeah. In the grounds of the winds or what winds or is it Windsor? Windsor Windsor. Royal Lodge was named you whistle about you with you. Okay, it's it's just a jumble of letters. How are you supposed to say that? It's not a bit of owl in it. Okay, it's why space bwthyn space batch. Up club batch. Back back a bit Lubbock bislama. Which means little cottage.
So, when you get when you get your own house when you turn six. It's like Oh, welcome to big baller zone. Queen Elizabeth was the first British monarch to celebrate her diamond wedding anniversary, and apparently two birthdays. So she had two birthdays every year old. No, if she was, Oh, she has two birthdays every year. So she really she was 192. Just 96 times 290 times two is 180. And then six times two is 12. And I add them together. Boom. Math.
All right, anyways, but yeah, they had their 60th anniversary so no other no other British monarch ever made it to 6060 years. This quarry looks really silly. I'm gonna Oh, she's gonna crop it and the chapter Yeah, check out the chapters for the Corgi. Usually cylinder queen has very had had very cute corgis. He also a boy. He's squinting. He's just sitting there. I want to be one of the Queen's corgis. You want to be one of the No you don't. Why? Because I think I
think she's. She's there. I think they're dead. passed away a while ago. I'd have to look that up. I don't know. No. So I guess the queen is not around for me to be her Corgi right? Well, I'm sure I'm sure if those corgis are still around. I really don't think there are though. Those corgis aren't aren't still around or are still around. They're still going to be taken very good care of. Yeah, because they probably have a whole staff for those corgis. Yeah.
I feel like the queen would be really good to talk to. Like she'd be she'd be like a grandma figure. Like, you know? Yeah. Yeah, probably really nice. Yeah. She gives you tea. When you talk to her about your day, while she was, I believe she was a medic and World War Two she drove drove a medic truck. So cool. Yeah, she was, uh, she was in there. Yeah, the British monarchs have to have to serve in the military. At least for a house a set amount of time. So
they all have military service. Which is not not a bad requirement for a leader. You know? So any who, who would say it's sad that she's not around anymore but she she's um, yeah, like I said it make it the 96 You really can't ask much more for that. At least she died peacefully she did. That's what they say. That's what all the reports say. So I'm sure I'm sure she had a whole medical staff making her comfortable. So that's good. All right. So everybody have a fantastic week.
And fantastic weekend. I'm gonna go take some more ibuprofen because my neck is still hurting pretty bad. So you know, there's that everybody we'll see you next week. Wait, I gotta make Obama say Oh, you gotta make Obama say it oh yeah but it doesn't have the whole isn't doesn't maybe goodbye maybe we're making Obama talk to me. Maybe that'll work you gotta you gotta wait. Oh here we go. Wait, hold on. I'm a linguistic can't afford a real server yet. You hover over the image.
