Episode description

What is mansplaining?  Mansplaining, a term that in 2018 was added to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, is a verb describing “when a man talks condescendingly to someone (especially a woman) about something he has incomplete knowledge of, with the mistaken assumption that he knows more about it than the person he’s talking to does.” It’s when your male co-worker decides during the team meeting after or while you’re speaking to interject his narrative into play. In a nutshell, mansplaining is an arrogant and entitled expression of privilege. “Splaining which will now refer to mansplaining as for the rest of this episode is often done to people who have historically not been heard, i.e. black women. It is done by people who have historically been recognized for sharing their opinions.

As a professional black woman, you more than likely have experienced ‘splaining during your career. We decided to do an episode about how you can address and handle mansplaining monsters in your workplace.
