First Do No Harm - podcast cover

First Do No Harm

#FDNHPodcast is an in depth discussion with equestrian trainers and professionals dedicated to making horse training happen for the horse not to the horse. We discuss how to reduce harm in our horses training environment and how to support our horses mental, emotional and physical well being so that we have horses that enjoy learning and ask to be ridden. Each episode we discuss the different influences equestrians can have and how we can improve our horses overall athleticism, soundness of mind and body and emotional fortitude whilst strengthening and deepening our relationship.

Is "pushing your horse through it" working for you?

A horse that can't control its emotions can't control its behaviour! A reason why we see dangerous behaviours as a result of unregulated emotions is because our horse has said no and we are taught to "push them through it" or "show them who's boss". Sometimes this works, but sometimes our horse lacks trust in our judgement if we have previously asked them to do something they aren't ready for or they think we aren't ready for what we are asking of them. This is how we show up for our horse in a ...

Science, Empathy & Feel. All together complimenting each other. Drawing on the immense wealth of research and logic in these three modalities my horses, my clients and I are sculpting a "Middle Path" of horse training which avoids extreme binaries.
