Excavate | Uncovering Our Place in God's Story Centuries of patriarchy have resulted in the presence of women in the Bible being suppressed and ignored. This podcast explores where women have always been evident in scripture so that things which have been long-buried may be newly discovered. We believe that God has always valued His daughters and our invitation is to celebrate where we are already seen and loved. We need not insert anything new, for we are already there.

Do You Want Male Headship or Are You Just Tired?

Sometimes we hear women talk about wanting their husband to lead, or believing they need to work on letting their husband lead. Female Imagery in Revelation Part 4 | The Bride of Christ

Today as we enter our final week of study on female imagery in Revelation, we’ll be discussing the Bride of Christ from Revelation 21. There is wedding and marriage language throughout both the Old and New Testament and it serves as a common metaphor for God’s covenant of faithfulness with his people. All of that culminates here at the end of the Bible, where the story comes full circle. This makes it clear how much Revelation is truly a book about hope and our trustworthy God who keeps his prom...

Female Imagery in Revelation Part 3 | The Great Prostitute

Today we’re in part 3 of our 4-part series on female imagery in Revelation. A major theme of the book of Revelation which we will see amplified in our passage today is that of forgery, or counterfeiting the things of God. As we study Revelation chapter 17 and “The Great Prostitute” of Babylon, we’ll uncover extensive imagery that is referencing the Wisdom literature and the ways that Satan is trying to copy goodness and Godliness. This is once again imagery that should be clear to Bible scholars...

Female Imagery in Revelation: That Woman Jezebel

Today we’re starting a 4 week series looking at specific references to women in the book of Revelation. These references are metaphorical and we found it interesting that female imagery is used in such a pronounced way in this final book of the Bible. Revelation tends to be a book that is confusing and intimidating to both read and interpret, so we’ll not only be looking at some particular passages in this series but also discussing general interpretation of apocalyptic literature as we go.
