An interaction with a patient I had, and how often people will tell you what's wrong and how to fix it, and moving is powerful.
Most officials, I know love, talking about plays, and the opportunity to get better. My partner and I were approached by a mother of a player on the winning team, who whipped out her phone and was real quick to accuse us of the worst call she’s ever seen. We click the dismissed her, and here’s what I wish, I did. I wish I paused, and slowed the entire situation down, and I wish I asked her if she was sure of the example she wanted to set for her six or seven-year-old daughter, who was in Tobey b...
I overheard a conversation that parents were having about their coach as they were leaving a game last week, and it reminded me that everyone will have something to say, but you know your team, the best
What will you be remembered for?
One of my old college basketball teammates introduced me to the concept of muting the television, while the commercials were on. It’s something I’ve done ever since, and another lesson in attention.
Our daughter is almost 5 months old now, and she’s the greatest thing in the whole world. I am so lucky and blessed that I get to be her mom. Do you know WHY I end every episode with ‘I appreciate you, thank you for spending some time with me today?’ (I borrowed this from Lewis Howes’ School of Greatness podcast) I’m now aware that it’s because our ATTENTION is our most valuable asset. Some may argue that it’s time, others may say it’s money. But to me, our ATTENTION is more valuable than both. ...

An observation in phrasing
Does your team know where your feedback is coming from?
What’s yours ?
We can be examples off the field in how we handle almost any situation
The relationships sports can foster in such a short period of time are incredible.

And how, after a well done mission, it’s easy to get sloppy and overconfident, and as a leader, it’s his job to remind everyone that they still need to do their diligence, and remain prepared and humble. Conversely, after a loss, or a casualty, it is the leaders job to sway the mob in...

Every moment matters by John O'Sullivan Mirror processing - why we smile when others smile or yawn when they yawn. When you watch someone you care about participate in something, your neural decision making areas disengage , and you inferior parietal lobe uses mirror processing , and your brain reacts as if we were being fouled or having a goal unjustly called back.
From page 7 of 'A Game Plan For Life' "We all share that same responsibility because each of us has gained a different perspective from our individual circum-stances. Knowledge is nothing unless it is shared. I know that knowledge for knowledge's sake is a wonderful ideal, but in re-alit, it is the transmission of understanding that is the very basis of civilization. It's what allows human progress to move forward. If we dont pass on what we've gained, we are halting the upward reach of society,...
a lesson I learned from a walk on the beach on vacation
Fable: DON'T ARGUE WITH DONKEYS The donkey said to the tiger: - "The grass is blue". The tiger replied: - "No, the grass is green." The discussion heated up, and the two decided to submit him to arbitration, and for this they went before the lion, the King of the Jungle. Already before reaching the forest clearing, where the lion was sitting on his throne, the donkey began to shout: - "His Highness, is it true that the grass is blue?". The lion replied: - "True, the grass is blue." The donkey hu...
We need some adversity to help us go farther. Lessons from a golf ball.
My priority shift during soccer, and this podcast tends to take a backseat. For consistency sake, for my sake, and for your sake, I will continue to record episodes every day, but forgive me for the lack of introduction and outro, music, and lower quality audio.

What are you willing to fail over and over again ?
If you could go back and give yourself advice during your freshman year of high school, what would you say? My bet is that you should still follow this advice to this day
I have implemented appreciation Wednesday with our team this year, where every Wednesday we call someone we love and tell them we appreciate them. It’s been tremendously powerful. I challenge you to make it your own and implement it with your team
Offer your kids a chance to play and explore during practice(sandbox) , and a chance to compete for playing time (War times)
Lead Em Up exericse- speed mentoring. Our big takeaway from our seniors was to stop caring what anyone thinks of you. That was a great lesson for our freshmen to hear and great for me to be reminded .
I had the opportunity to give a talk to our youth recreation coaches in town. They have to go through a safety training, and as a physical therapist, I'm qualified to offer that to them. It helps that I coach high school soccer, and can offer them safety tips on things to look out for as far as injuries and field conditions. I managed to show them a handful of drills, reminding them that they can be adjusted to the level that they're coaching, these coaches were first through eighth grade coache...
