Gratitude gives us eyes of light.

The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!

Matthew 6:22-23

I first connected this verse with gratitude when my client saw through working with me just how dark her view of her husband had become without her even realizing it.

It can creep up on us. We must remain vigilant to keep our eyes light.

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

Phillipians 4:8 

Paul wrote the “joy book” of the Bible when he was in prison.

Similarly, our circumstances don’t need to dictate our joy; and our husbands are just a circumstance.
