Community Engagement and Growth Strategy

Thumbs up for me for learning . All right , so this will be on the Double Edge podcast , be on the YouTube , go out in the newsletter , yada yada . So first I'm gonna start off with a little piece of gratitude . I just wanna share a deep thank you to all you guys in the Double Edge community .

It doesn't really ever go a long period of time before I feel like you know , I'm in the grind of it all , deep in the grind of it all . I mean right now working between both gyms every day , and you know personal stuff and whatever . You're in the grind of it all , deep in the grind of it all .

And this past week a couple members took the time pull me aside and just let me know how grateful they are for everything the gym is to them . Stuff like that , truly , for us coaches , it's why we show up every day .

It's to provide a positive impact into your guys' lives , and you guys taking the time to share your stories with me this past week has been awe-inspiring , like I don't know . I just can't thank you enough , and it reinvigorates my fire to continue to do better for you guys .

So , and to be honest , you guys are the awesome ones , love it , show up , you put in the work and you grind and you get after it and you do what needs to be done . You're consistent , you're awesome and I can't reiterate enough how cool that is to be a part of right . So , media marketing you're gonna start seeing a lot of double-edge .

Okay , we've never done media and marketing and advertising with any meaningful effort . These gyms are pretty much built by word of mouth and being small business in year coming 2025 , it seems to be a must . And I'm working with some great people who are helping guide this journey into this new chapter of business Because , first off , now they're .

I'm good at coaching , I'm good at the fitness stuff , good at running a gym . When it comes to this new world of marketing , advertising , it's just right over my head in many ways , but I've been informed . I gotta create content . So here I am creating content .

Yeah , you guys are gonna see stuff and with that , the reason I'm bringing it up here is my goal and all the coaches , but mine and my brothers particularly is to create content that educates , inspires and entertains you guys . So if we can make you a little smarter , inspire you a little bit more and make you laugh , that's our goal .

If there's specific topics in the health , fitness , wellness , longevity , health span whatever you want to call it space that you would like us to dive deeper in and create , you know , meaningful content behind for your guys as knowledge , I guarantee , if one of you has a question about something specific whether it be training protocols , olympic Olympic lift techniques ,

nutrition guidance , blood work , whatever it is right If one of you has a question , I guarantee you probably 10 other people have the same question . Now my mind's going nonstop with stuff and we're going to try to take some of that and organize it into some structure , but ultimately , my goal is to provide value to you guys .

So if there are things that you want to know more about , by all means shoot me an email , tell me in person . I take notes all day long on my phone of ideas , so please share those with me so that we can . There's a beep , so we can provide good content for you . Right , cool with that , there's going to be new people coming into the gym .

Right , we are in what you call a membership push . Since covid , you know it's been , it's , it hasn't been bad , but we haven't gotten back to our previous greatness and the goal is to get back there . A lot of this was going to be done , all these efforts , at the first of the year , towards the end of last year .

All this was going to start being done last November , october kind of the same timeline we're doing this year . Like I said in the last video , claire got pretty sick . That was a six , seven , seven month ordeal of getting that reconciled . Jacob had had his little girl , so forth , blah blah .

It threw timelines off , all right , but now it's time to get after it . Run the business , grow the business and , in concert , make sure you guys are succeeding every single day . So I just want to put things to rest . We have space to grow .

Not all our classes are even remotely close to being overwhelming , but with that , our goal is to not overwhelm classes , alright . So we're gonna be very mindful of how we do this and gonna be keeping diligent track of where things are happening so that you know I'm not going to dilute our product one single bit .

You know the goal is to get back to where we were pre-COVID . That's the focus , all right . So I want to just put any concerns like that to rest . I know some of y'all like really small classes . At the end of the day , that is not a sustainable business practice for us , right ? So you know , full transparency .

I'm seeking an overall class average of 12 to 15 people , whole gym , company-wide . There's going to be slow classes , there's going to be really full classes , but that's what I'm seeking is an average , and that's very doable with the way we like to train and so forth .

Now I'm going to get in the heavy detail on why the barbell is never going anywhere in our lives . It's the foundation of our training program . That's why we have these big spaces . It was all part of that . It has been advised to me by business coaches and stuff . People I network with and talk to .

You know , get rid of the barbell , bigger classes and so forth . Hell with all that . No , no , we have a situation in which we can provide a great class experience and the barbell is not going anywhere ever . So that's another thing I want to put to rest . All right . Next , I'm considering adding a double edge virtual message board of some kind .

I don't know if this is a Facebook group , a Telegram group , a WhatsApp group . I'm not sure Any feedback from you guys on this topic would be helpful , because one thing I'm noticing bouncing between both gyms each week is members are trying to connect on various things .

For instance , we have a handful of teams for the golf tournament that only had two to three players and they're seeking another player , and then there's a person in another class that wants to play but doesn't know who to talk to .

That's one example recently , and other examples are when you know there's local competitions going on , being able to aggregate resources , who's competing , you know , and just continue to build and foster the community to where we can communicate internally with each other .

You know , across both gyms , all the coaches , all the classes , and I mean really grow and foster the community component , bring people together .

It's one of the biggest reasons I've been loving coaching both gyms is getting to know everybody , bridging the communities together , and it's been awesome and I want to continue to grow ideas in that space for the community , for us all .

So if you have ideas on what you think , the last thing I know any of us want is another app , right , another thing to check another , another notification . But if there's interest and you guys listen to this , let me know . Let me know what you think and suggestions . Next , in-body scans .

So I am going to be creating a system to prompt you guys to get your in-body scan at a minimum twice a year . Body composition and tracking your body composition is a very important component of your health and longevity . It's really easy to get complacent .

Even if we're training hard , even if we're doing mostly the right things , we have seasons where we get a little complacent . I know I have . Everybody does but there's been many times that the objective data spit out to me by the in-body . It's like okay time to clean things up a little bit . Body composition matters .

We want to make sure that you're gaining muscle and either maintaining , losing body fat . It's that simple . As we age , gaining and maintaining muscle mass and maintaining and or losing body fat is a vital component of our health span . We have the tools right here in the gym to do it .

Wellness Program and Business Efficiency

Members , you guys can all do as many in bodies as you want . I don't see a reason to do it any more often than every eight weeks . I just don't .

If you're on a very strict program and really trying to do something , you can get benefit out of it every eight weeks , but in general every three months , three months , cool four times a year , but at the bare minimum I do think every member in the gym should come in get their in-body scan at least twice a year .

Okay , so maybe June , december , january , june it's probably a good deal , but I'm going to come up with prompts and reminders to where y'all are prompted to get your InBody scan . You know you don't need an appointment for it . It's a really self-explanatory machine . I suggest doing it fasted if you want the most accurate data .

Regardless , do the weigh-in the same way every time . So if you always do it at lunch and you always eat your lunch before , do it the same way every time . That should be consistent .

But the most accurate data is gonna be fasted , most likely first thing in the morning , and I'm gonna put together a whole protocol explaining what the embody , how it tests , what you're looking at , when it prints out the sheet and then how to use the data . All right With that . It's like you get this printout . What do I do with it ?

Well , one you look at it . That's step one . What's our trends looking like ? You know , where are we at six months , a year later ? Have we made improvements ? Have we regressed ? You know so forth . And a big part of that equation , if something's going on is to talk to your coach . Talk to me . I give free nutrition advice to any member that wants it .

I will sit down with you , we'll book an appointment , we'll sit down , have a conversation and I will give you a guide that will help you find success . We have coaches in the gym that do nutrition coaching , that do it , you know , month , monthly deal , where there are helping you with all kinds of stuff .

I personally don't have the time to do that kind of coaching , but the majority of the people that meet with me and I put together a little program for them . We talk about the meaning of everything and I give them benchmarks to hit when it comes to nutrition . If they listen to it and they do it , they get results . It's pretty cool .

So that's available to all you members , right ? You wanna meet up with me ? I'm very , very happy to spend time with you going over your nutrition . We'll go over it in great detail . I usually book an hour for us to go over that Now . Don't all hit me up next week , right , but we can get appointments scheduled .

If you want to do that , I'll do it at both gyms . I do them in the gym and or via Zoom call kind of deal . The only thing you have to have for that nutrition meeting is an updated in-body scan . If I don't have the hard data , we don't know what we're going after .

All right , and I can't explain to you why I coach towards certain macro goals and give advice in that realm , all right . So current in-body scan is a must . We set up an appointment .

I get you pointed in the right direction , right , if you need more nutrition coaching , if you're looking for more guidance on an ongoing basis , we have coaches that are very capable and enjoy doing that , and you know they , they have the time and the knowledge to do that for you .

All right , you know I do mean that , and I personally have really pretty bad handwriting . It's not great , right , but for the most part , you can read it right , and that's something I want to talk about right here . So , retail sheets at both gyms .

I need you guys to do me a solid and step up your handwriting just a little bit so that we can read your name and what you bought . Now , the reason we do the retail sheets is it keeps cost down . Having full-time front desk I used to do it it's for our model and , where we're at , it's not financially advantageous . It doesn't make sense , okay .

Okay , the retail sheets just sign it out . We all trust each other , okay , but please help us . Help us by writing clearly Both your name and what you bought . All right , that would be a huge help , huge help . All right , we bill those out once every week or two . I try to combine as many transactions into one transactions .

The reason being is it cuts down on merchant fees , merchant processing fees , by a tremendous amount . All right , yeah , these are just things that I'm trying to do here at the business to keep things more efficient . Okay , to do here at the business to keep things more efficient . Okay , retail isn't a massive part of our business .

The backbone of what we do is group class personal training and so forth , but it is an important component , right , I like having quality products and things available for members , things I personally believe in , things that I use . I like having that available for you . Sure , make a little money on it , but it would be just great we clean up that handwriting .

Just a pinch . Just a pinch , please . That all means . On that topic . Y'all should get a card in the mail soon . You're going to get a card and an email because you get a little promotion on your birthday . Now you basically can buy supplements on your birthday at cost , at our cost . Now get that 30% off . That's what you can get them at .

When you get your birthday card and the supplements that you buy , just write them on the card and then put them in the basket . There's some confusion writing the supplements down and then checking the basket . We don't know what's what . So , future those of you are listening to this we're also going to add a reminder to the cards and so forth .

But if you get the email or the card , just print it out or bring in the card . You write the supplements you're buying on the card , put in the basket . I just make sure you get your discount and it's just a lot cleaner . All right , it's just something we ran into . This last week had a few birthdays I'll turn it once and it was like got an email .

Hey , man , it's that's my birthday discount and I'll fix it . Don't get me wrong , I'll fix it , but it just helps efficiencies a little bit . Huh , elements I love these products . Lmnt . All right , I love the products , super pumped , that we carry them . But we got the sparkling water , we got the single serve packets and we got the boxes .

If you guys could do me a solid there and just make sure you specify what you get , because I've directed the people doing checking this out each week if they can't tell what it is to charge the most expensive one , which is the boxes , because oftentimes I'm reminded cans , people are taking boxes . That's what was happening .

Okay , so if you get a element sparkling , right , element can or sparkling or something like that , if you get a box , write the word box . If you get a single serve , write single serve . Okay , that'd just be super helpful . You know there's not a lot of margin for error in those products . It's not a lucrative retail product , if you know what I'm saying .

So it's hard to take hits on that inventory month over month and I love the product . I think it's such a good product and I want to make sure we can keep it available for everybody . All right , so that'd be super helpful . Got a podcast coming out full length . It's going to go to the YouTube page .

I'll extract the audio for the podcast , but it's with my cousin , dr Justinin grant . He's doing a bunch of things in the spine surgical space and it's really exciting .

I mean , he's a sports medicine doctor and he is they're on the cutting edge of some spine surgery stuff and it's really cool and I wanted to learn more about it and just talk spine health with him and it's probably going to end up being a couple part series because we just got through , you know , I guess , scratch the surface , if you will .

So that's going to be coming out Not this coming week , but the next week . Pop that out . So look forward to that . Last thing here on my list today is got to make sure the cold plunge isn't overflowing . Last thing on my list is sub coaches . I'm super pumped to introduce Alyssa Alyssa Kruger .

She came over as a member , found out she'd been coaching for eight years . She got her level two . Chase and Jess know her very well , spoke very highly of her After meeting her . Like you want to help sub coach , you want to be a part of that roster and here she is already sub coaching , so super pumped to have her .

If you haven't met her yet , hope you meet her . She's awesome and very excited to have her . Sean Hilbert he's one of our members . He went and got his level one a while back . He's been shadowing coaches , both gyms and he's going to start sub-coaching and just helping out .

You know , a big part of our model here is making sure our full-time coaches it's sustainable for them . You know they take vacations , kid gets sick , things come up . We very much rely on our sub coaches helping us out in these times . So , on that note , anybody else is interested ? Or you know somebody that might be interested in being a sub coach ?

It is something I am always kind of looking for , you know . So I'm just grateful to have these two added to the routine . Helping us out , uh , sub coaching classes and , um , you guys know anybody ? Please by all means let me know . Send them my way . Love to talk to them . Or if you you yourself are interested sean was a member . He hit me up .

He's like , hey , I'm interested in my level one . Would you be interested in helping me learn how to coach them ? Now a lot of people grow passion for crossfit , passion for helping , and then want to become a coach inside the gym and we can help with that .

So if that's something anybody's interested in , want to talk to myself or my brother about having members who already know the community and what we are and what we believe is one of the biggest deals in us bringing in coaches . I can teach you how to be a coach , okay . So , yeah , pumped on , that Got the golf tournament coming up this coming weekend .

Ended up being pretty good success as far as team signups and whatnot . Pretty excited about that . Other events coming up in the future Off the top of my head right now , looking forward Christmas party time .
